kzokul: What about A.C.N that every member is loyal to the party hierachy? You support amaechi to disobey and rebel against his party, but, one person gives orde in A.C.N and no one dare challenges him like what is happening in ekiti state now. Oh! I forgot. It is amaechi. The party hierarchy, aka Tinubu has absolute control only in lagos. They have considerable influence in yoruba states, but Tinubu and his party hierarchy has very little influence on Adams Oshiomole and Edo State. I cannot imagine Tinubu giving Comrade Adams Oshiomole a directive on how to run Edo State. |
chelseaguy: Afenifere are right, if you cannot conform to the party establishment you better defect. Simple. Government Amaechi is so full of himself to think that he can have a go at the president with impunity. No sitting president in his right senses would allow an up-start to oust or disrespect him.But lots of governors disrespected OBJ during his presidency. Orji Kalu was always disrespecting Obasanjo. Fayose was always disrespecting OBJ, Tinubu and his aids were insulting all the time. Even Gbenga Daniels fell out with OBJ. |
Alxmyr: You are wrong on that. He was a yes man to Peter Odili for good 8 years. He was a yes man to be people during his first term. He only became strong head when he became NGF chairman.I do not know of the relationship between Odilli and Amaechi when the latter was the speaker of the house of representatives, but I do know that Amaechi fell out with Odilli before the 2007 elections, which was responsible his problems with getting nomination for governorship. And since then Amaechi and Odilli has not been on good terms. Amaechi was not on good terms with OBJ and was not particularly cozy with Yaradua. Amaechi's cold relationship did not start with the NGF, he did not even support jonathan for Acting president. It was when he realized that his nomination and election for second term is tied to Jonathan, that he supported Jonathan for the 2011 elections. Remember he had to procure a court judgement to enable him contest the 2011 elections as his 4 year tenure was not yet up. He knew if his election did not hold at the same time with Jonathan, there was no way he would get nomination not to talk of reelection. |
I disagree with Odumakin on this Amaechi issue. From the begining we all know Amaechi is a very stobborn man, he is a man of his own principles and has never been shown to be a yes man to anybody. That was why OBJ and Odilli conspired to to deny him his lawful nomination for governorship, which he won back at the supreme court. Jonathan cannot think Amaechi would change overnight and become a yesman to him or his madam. Have you stop to think wy Ameachi had overwelming support from PDP inspite of his disagreements with OBJ and now Jonathan? How do you explain the overwelming support he enjoys presently from the state legislators who inspite of huge cash and other incentives refuse to betray amaechi. I am sure whatever Amaechi can offer the legislators, the Jonathans can tripple it. How do you explain the overwelming support from Nigerian governors - even from within the PDP. How many PDP governors have come out to openly criticize Amaechi? It shows people Admire his guts for standing up to what he believes in. For example I concur with Amaechi in his views on amnesty, How can you reward criminals who have klled innocent people and stolen oil in the name of Amnesty. How can you give amnesty to someone that was never tried and found guilty. Today you have Criminal Boko Haram asking for amnesty also. Tomorrow another group would rise up and bomb innocent citizens and they would be entitled to amnesty also. Then what happens when amnesty money stops, the militants would go back to bombing, killing and oil theft. I also concur with amaechi on the so called transformation agenda. What are the details and time lines of this transformation agenda? What is supposed to be the role of the governors in this agenda. We have had so many acronyms that they do not make sense anymore, From vison 202020 to 7 point agenda and now transformation agenda. I doubt if even Jonathans praise singers understand what the agenda entails. I am not exactly a fan of Amaechi or any Nigerian polititians, (the good onces like ken Nnamani have been weeded out), all of them are thieves who are stealing the nation blind. Most of them are thugs, election riggers, certificate forgers, drug barons and common criminals. I support the call for independent candidature, it will eliminate the tyranny of political party leaders and reduce godfatherism, that is if free election is allowed. |
la_unique: Nigeria has three tiers of government: federal, state and local government. The federal government oversees the activities of the state government who in turn oversee the local government. A president is in charge of the federal government while a governor is in charge of the lower tier which is the state. Therefore, a president and a governor cannot be equal. The constitution has already established that hierachy. Can you please do us a favour and quote relevant sections of thr constitution hat empowers the Federal Government to oversee the activities of the state governments. The education would be highly appreciated. Apart from the president controlling the armed forces and the police thereby having monopoly of violence (officially that is), governors are more powerful in respect of the state they govern. The president is only using his monopoly of violence and huge rescourses available to him to bully the governors. |
I wonder why people are spewing ignorance here, it is becoming embarassing. How is Jonathan amaechi's boss. Was he responsible for Amaechi becoming the governor of rivers state? Did the constitution make jonathan the boss of all the governors in Nigeria? Ijaw people and their Biafran supporters are arrogating powers to Jonathan the constitution did not give him.So simply because Jonathan controls the police and the armed forces he has suddenly become thr emperor of Nigeria. Even as power drunk as OBJ was, he or his kinsmen did not make him the overlord of Nigeria governors. He had to beg his vice ( who incidently was his subordinate) and the governors before he was given second term nomination. So many governors fell out with OBJ, ie the governors of plateau, ekiti, oyo, lagos, Imo, Bayelsa and even his home governor - Gbenga Daniel, and we did not hear the boss-servant argument. |
This Amaechi saga has truly exposed the contradictions of the Nigerian constitution.nIt shows a commissioner of police of a state is more powerful than a governor. A commissioner of police is not entitled to take orders from the governor and is a law unto himself in a state, and is only accountable to the IG. All other governors better learn that their only function is to spend money allocated from abuja, nothing concerns them about the security of the state. We need another name for our Federation. Maybe we should call it the Federal-unitary government of Nigeria. These case of the local governments are worse, at least the state governments have financial and political autonomy, the local governments are just political extensions of the state governments and rely on whips of the governor for funding. |

Facts & Truths:My brother if we still want Nigeria to remain one, we cannot run away from state police and other vestiges of true federalism. Most of the problems besetting this country is the over centralization of power at the centre. The regions and states are being choked and rendered helpless to determine the direction of their lives collectively. This is what is responsible for boko haram, Niger delta militancy, Biafra agitations, and a host other problems. If a state wants to operate sharia, let them have it, as long as they can fund it. People that do not want to live under sharia law would move to another state. If the igbos want to determine their destiny or any other thing they feel they can gain under biafra, let them have it. If the Niger delta people or any other people want to control their resources, let them, as long as they pay agreed taxes. Who should hold the federation together is common currency, military, foreign affairs and some common issues. The present situation where a federal police has to learn all the state laws in Nigeria in order to enforce them is unworkable and unrealistic. |
Facts & Truths:You people have no idea of what the word federation means in the term Federal Republic of Nigeria. A governor was suppose to be responsible for the security of his domain and the federal govrnment should only be involved if the security situation is beyond the capacity of the state. A situation where a governor does not have power to give orders to the police in a state under his governance is not only strange, it is stupid. It is even stranger for the Federal Police to be enforcing state laws enacted by the state assembly and interpreted by the state high courts, which may sometimes run contrary to federal laws. People elect a governor to protect their economic, social and physical interests within stated limits, so give him the authority to do his jobs. I am 100% in support of state police, because a situation where 5 lawmakers can hold the whole state to ransom cannot occur if the governor was truly the chief security officer of the state. The argument that the governors would misuse the state police is neither here nor there as we have withnessed the president and past presidents with their wives, children, ministers and aids misused the federal police and even the army in the past. All these are due to weakness of the system and characters operating the system. In addition it is senseless for the federal police being funded by federal money to be providing security for the governors, their commisioners, their wives and children and their personal aids. And someone will still be wondering why inspite of close to 400,000 federal policemen, there is no police security for the ordinary citizen. Does it not sound strange for the personal security of a governor to be receiving orders and is loyal to someone else |
moodswing: Boy, that word is spelled "Amateur". I know how hard it is to spell considering that you're maturely disadvantaged. You will improve if you keep up, and also learn some respect. You people turn logic on its head, just to achieve your sinister aims. There is no case or argument of who the speaker is, unless you people want to use force to prevent the authentic speaker from performing. There is no way 5 lawmakers can impact a speaker of a 32 man house and impose another speaker. Even if you present the lame argument that a quorum of 11 legislators sat during the impeachment proceedings and then turn the constitution on its head by stating that you only need two-third of 11, the 5 will still fall short of the requirements. So the whole two weeks Patience Jonathan spent in Rivers state strategising the impeachment of Amaechi came to nothing. The strategy was as dumb as it is unrealistic. It simply involves the pro-jonathan 5 sitting under police protection with a fake mace, impeach the speaker and immediately declaring Amaechi impeached. Then Mbu would move in to arrest amaechi. He and his supporters would then be told to seek redress in court while the 5 would continue as Rivers State assembly. And you know the court would be slowed by adjournments, legal gymnastics and bribery. That was how OBJ did it in Oyo, Ekiti and Bayelsa, but OBJ had more than 5 legislators on his side in each case. Sorry your plan has failed, Amaechi remains governor and the speaker remains speaker. |
President Jonathan is so scared and unsure of his popularity that he his afraid of primaries. It is Obvious that if primaries were to be held today president Jonathan would lose woefully. You will be surprised the number of PDP governors - even some south south governors. You should remember most of the south south governors were against Jonathan's emergence as acting president and only after he succeeded in becoming president with the support of the south west. I doubt Uduaghan would not be waiting for an opportunity to get back at Jonathan for what he did to his cousin - Ibori. It is only the fear of persecution that is making them pretend to support Jonathan publicly. |
thelastPope: I cannot see anywhere in this script where it will end well for Amaechi! I stand to be proven wrong! You need to look at the script closer, Jonathan's fate is tied to amaechi. If it ends bad for amaechi, it will also end bad for Jonathan. Using Federal might unjustly against a governor will further alieniate the president from more pdp governors ( a lot of them will not come out openly now) and also alienate the president from the public - especially other regions outside the southwest and south south. Gej and his acolytes cannot do anything to Amaechi unless he is impeached or killed, and impeachment is out of the question now. They have played their card and failed, it will be impossible for the 5 to impeach the speaker and Amaechi now. GEJ is so predictable that you do not neef TB Joshua to predict what will happen next. The next move would be to expel the 27 lawmakers and amaechi and then declare their seats vacant claiming that they have lost their seats as a result of amendment of the 1999 constitution. And then immiediately arrest them and lock them up with the feeling that the case would drag on at the courts. But the suspension is still in court so Jonathan would have problems expelling and arresting amaechi. I know things would get ugly as militants would be deployed by both sides. |
The Ijaws have truly gone too far this time, they feel they have monopoly of violence. Instead of negotiating to get anything they want - be it political power or economic power, they prefer threats, intimidation and physical attacks on defenseless people. This latest attacks do not make sense at all. Was it the itsekiri villages that was attacked that was responsible for appointing the local government chairman in koko? Was any of the 6 innocent itsekiri killed an official of the local government? If the Ijaws are brave as they boast, why attack old people going about their business in the villages, they should go to koko and attack the local govenment officials or better still go to Asaba and attack the governor who is responsible for making anybody a local govenment chairman. The average itsekiri does not care who is local government chairman as he or she has gained nothing from all the previous itsekiri chairmen in the past. I honestly pray the Ijaws turn a new leaf and learn to dialogue and negotiate with their opponents to achieve their aims as is done by civilized people. |

Clowns! Who took over the functions of the house of assembly when they were engaging in their own boxing bouts with Dino and co? The reason why Rivers State Assembly is having difficulty in sitting is due to security challenges and not any crisis. There is no crisis in Rivers state House of Assembly, there are 27 members in one camp and 5 in the opposing camp, and 5 members can not cause any crisis. It is the failure of the commissioner of police to provide security cover for the sittings that is the problem. Afterall the 27 form a quorum without the need for the 5. The house should just have summoned the IG to come and explain why th Rivers commissioner of police could not provide security cover for legislative sittings in Rivers State, or do they think they would be able to sit themselves if there is no adequate security cover. So how long do the House of representatives hope to ursurp the functions of the Rivers State House of Assembly? |

Most people commenting here are just exhibiting their biases. We are yet to get the full picture of what is going on and people are already taking sides throwing blames and abuses. Can a nigerian ever be shed primitive instincts of bias, tribalism, nepotism, etc when commenting on issues? |

stebell: My guy and broda, trouble no gud. And don't ever think dat de Ijaws in Warri North can't face yu peeps alone. Yu peeps can't comprehend wat will reach yu. Let's allow peace reign in our communities. Stop this hate statements. One Ijaw man can face 10 of yu believe me. We are of peace always. And who is not allowing peace to reign in our communities? Have you ever heard itsekiris attacking an Ijaw community before? If we have issues we go to court, we do not go around shooting people and burning villages. You people are always know to cause conflict wherever you reside. If you say you people are warriors, why do you always bring in mercinaries whenever you start your trouble? |
You should be talking to the Ijaws and not the Itsekiris. The Itsekiris have not been known to engage in violence. We prefer the civil way of resolving disputes, we write petitions, go to court, protest peacefully and lobby to achieve our aims. It is the Ijaws that always attack the Itsekiris and other neighbouring communities as a means of achievinig their objectives, a local government headquarters was located in itsekiri area in warri, they attacked all itsekiri villages and town, now they demand that election must not take place and the chairmanship of warri north should automatically be handed over to them, they have started attacking itsekiris again to press home their demand. The most annoying thing is if the itsekiris in warri north is left to slug it out with Ijaws in warri north, the Ijaws stand no chance, but the ijaws in warri north would import mercinaries from Warri south, bayelsa and even rivers just to fight in warri north. All this is because violence pays in nigeria. It is the only means to get what you want and the Ijaws, Fulanis and Boko Haram understand that well. |
Shawnmayor: ^ yeah i did that. which of their contact mail did u use?I used contact at sedo dotcom. mrnesty, Yes it is posible not to hint them that you are a nigerian if your are living outside nigeria, but how do you stop them from knowing you are nigerian, if you are using nigerian ip and you submit a nigerian bank to them for wiring your money. |

Shawnmayor: they blocked and reopen it for you?Yes, the blocked my account immediately I sent their verification form, stating security reasons. I wrote support with a slightly protesting tone and sending my drivers licence and nepa bill. Next day they sent me a mail certifying my account. |
I got verified and certified by sedo today, that is after blocking my account on signing the verification form. I had to send copies of my drivers licence and nepa bill. |
I am angry and perplexed as to the reason I was banned twice yesterday for a thread I posted yesterday. All I did was to post advert of a tablet I am selling and added the link to my website to my signature. Before I knew it the antispam bot banned me first for 1hr and again for 1day without any explanation. The worse is that during the ban, I am unable to post to ask the reason for the ban. I checked that others were advertising their products in the technology market section before I posted and the antispam bot is not banning them. So I want to understand why I was banned. I am even affraid to post again in the technology market section because I do not know if and how long I will be banned again. Please review my post and tell my infractions that lead to my being banned twice. |

Wike is just a pawn in the political chess game between president Jonathan and Governor Amaechi. He will be sacrificed when the time comes as Jonathan and Amaechi iron out their differences to secure their political futures. Jonathan and amaechi would certainly close ranks before the 2015 elections. Wike is of little consequence within the nigerian political space. |
Then Lagos should be prepared to destroy all the properties from lekki phase 1 all the way to epe, including shoprite, oniru estate, elf estate, chevron area, jakande estate, vgc, etc. Added to that is all the areas along ikorodu road from Ajegunle to maijidun. What of isheri north and oworoshoki, in fact most parts of lagos can be classified as flood plains. |
