T.Y Danjuma is the perfect choice for now. He is not power hungry like most politicians out there. He believes Strongly in the nigerian project. He is relatively free of controversies and scandals. I know he will not be interested in being president but if he decides to run, i will actively campaign for him. If nigerians value honesty and integrity, danjuma is the man. |
superstar1: if Obi did not receive this letter, he should come out and debunk it. Simple. whene he received the letter ahead, what did he do, how pro-active was he? timing of dumping is immaterial because they would have left Lagos earlier on in the day or you wanted Lagos to fly them in business class to Anambra or wot.Timing of dumping of a human beings is not important? So are human beings now rubbish to be dumped? And dumping them in the middle of kidnap zone. And why can't lagos state government fly them to their destination? - that is if the "destitutes" agree to be relocated. How much does it cost to charter an airplane? Does not fashola charter an airplane for moving around Nigeria and abroad? |
These are signs of dangerous times ahead. Intolerance is growing between all tribes in Nigeria. Nigerians are now being deported in Nigeria based on suspected poverty. Poverty is becoming a crime in Nigeria. In developed world, a homeless national is provided with basic accommodation by the government, jobless citizens are given stipends to survive, the sick is provided health care whether poor or rich. If the Lagos State government is not" poorphobic", why not contact the families of the "destitute" and hand them over to them directly to their families or make proper arrangements with the anambra state government to ensure their safety and welfare. Even dogs do not deserve to be dumped under a bridge at midnight. If the generality of Yorubas support the deportation of other nigerians from Yoruba land, them i would have to reconsider my stance on division of Nigeria. I have always been an avid supporter of 1 Nigeria, which my people fought for. But if a section or sections is becoming xenophobic, then we should just split, so that i would know i will require a visa before visiting other parts. Also we can keep 100% of our resources. |
PAGAN 9JA:And can you please explain why ranching will not work in the south. I have always wondered why the south depend on fulanis for their cow, ram and goat meat. |
ilugunboy: You must have been blind all this while then....You are obviously living in a state of denial, in an alternative reality. Destitution is part of Yoruba and Hausa culture. It is virtually non existent in almost all tribes of the south south and south east. You will not find old women and children from these areas on the street begging for arms. But it is an very common sight to see yoruba and hausa women - old and young, begging in traffic, in bus-stops and side walk in lagos and every major city in Nigeria. |
ilugunboy: You can use it to blackmail Ngige as much as you like....you all will suffer the consequences of voting the wrong candidate just to spite APC...One question, which tribe constitute the highest percentage of destitutes on lagos streets? Hausa, Yoruba or Igbos. It is obvious that the bulk of the destitute are Yorubas and Hausas. Why is fashola not reconciling yoruba to Ile-Ife and hausas to kano? Why specifically pick on the igbos? |
ilugunboy: Now you are talking!! Go to court ...very fastyes, in a sane country you sue anybody or institution who denies your liberty illegally. There is no law in Nigeria that prescribes detention and forceful deportation as a punishment for joblessness and homelessness and if there were, the person would be convicted and punished by the courts and not a governor. |
The igbos should maximize full advantage of this situation instead of just groaning and complaining. If it is true that some of their people were detained and deported illegally, then they should gather their evidence and sue the lagos state government all the way to the supreme court. The destitutes will hammer some good cash from damages. I think Peter Obi should provide good legal services to the affected victims instead of writing Jonathan. What does he want Jonathan to do? Is Jonathan a judge? |
I did not see any thing close to a response to Peter Obi's accusations. Did you deport or reconcile Igbos at midnight to Onitsha without the knowledge of the governor or their families or not? If yes why? And if no what happened? This has nothing to do with who peter obi decides to kiss or the coming elections, no lagosian is contesting the coming governorship election. I had though fashola would be more coherent than the response he gave above. |
jodeci: he Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a self-confessed drug-addict, Ibrahim Yahaya, to three years imprisonment for attempted murder. Please can explain how the case you quoted above relate to the Chidi Lloyd case? First the guy pleaded guilty to all charges read against him, meaning he did not even present a defense, probably because he could not afford a SAN and was given a charge and bail lawyer. Then we do not have any details of the case. What caused the fight, how did he come about the weapon, what is the motive of the attempted murder, etc. In chidi Llyod case evidence will be presented as to the cause of the fight, how the weapon was gotten. And most importantly Chidi will have very experienced lawyers in his team, so no chance of him pleading guilty to any charge the police comes up with. |
ilugunboy: Bottom line....you are not Yoruba...you have your ancestral home.So only Yorubas can claim indigeneship of Lagos? What of people with only a parent or grand parent being yoruba? Can they claim indigeneship? Then what do you mean ancestral home? What or where is the ancestral home of the Saros and other free slaves that was dumped on lagos island? Are you sure you understand anything about migration into lagos? |
Pataki: If Ibos are not happy in Lagos, please go back home. Lagos is not your homeland. What of you? Are you from Lagos? Were your parents and grand parents borno in lagos. Does being Igbo exclude one from being an indigene of lagos state? You people will be the first to claim US and British citizenship with adedibu like marks and yet deny fellow nigerian the indigeneship of his land of birth. |
I have never been a fan of PDP and have always voted ACN, but if deportation of nigerians from Nigeria is a party ideology, i would have to gravitate towards PDP. Please someone should tell igbokwe that beggars on the streets can not constitute danger to anybody. Beggars only constituent aesthetic nuisance. Beggars had never been arraigned for robbery in lagos. If fashola is so bothered about security, he should deport area boys and agberos instead. There is no city in the world - mega or macro that does not have homeless beggars on the streets. So fashola should quit trying to create a rich mans paradise. |
Where are all the human rights lawyers, have they all been bought over by politicians. How come non is screaming foul at the deportation of nigerians within Nigeria. I pray God should resurrect our Senior Advocate of the Masses, he would not have taken these assaults on the masses by Fashola and Jonathan. |
pandriod: Again, Is there anyone that hates fashola that is not ibo? Prize money increased to $2000 to anyone that proves me wrong. No one - whether yoruba, igbo or hausa hates fashola as a person, so even if you increase the money to $1 million, no one will attempt to claim it. What people hate is Fashola's policies, his anti-poor policies including the deportation of homeless nigerians to aba. |
Brimmie: Fashola knows what he's doing!! He's 100% On-check!! Igbo ppl shld stop being tribalistic and view this issue like a Nigerian. Stop playing cheap politics.I hate it when Nigerian use the tribal part of their brains to always respond to issues and reason like a fish. What is Fashola's business if people decide to cause themselves to be raped and used for morning rituals? The nigerian constitution allows any nigerian to live in any part of Nigeria with no conditions attached. If fashola is so concerned about the welfare of jobless and homeless non indigenes, he should work with police to provide security. How is dumping them at onitsha going to stop the deported people from being kidnapped, raped and used for money ritual. Will the yoruba bigots supporting this action support deporting Yoruba in Anambra to isale - eko. Why was it only igbos that was deported? Do Fashola have the liver to deport hausas who actually constitute the bulb of homeless beggars in lagos. The story you posed is a dishonest attempt at justifying fashola's wrong action, no where in the article did it say the homeless newyorkers were dumped on the streets of others cities, they were flown and handed over to their families in various cities because the government could no longer provide shelter beds for them. There are homeless beggars in all cities in Nigeria, starting a deportation war will further lead to animosity and badblood, which we do not need at this time of our national development. |
theoctopus: Chidi Llyod has provided the most damning proof of intent: revenge. When he keeps shouting he was attacked first, that is proof of revenge.Mr Octopus, we appreciate you taking time off you busy schedule to freely educate us on legal matters, but i feel you and other have allowed emotions generated by the graphic details of the violence on honorable chinda to becloud your judgement. First i must confess i am not a lawyer, i just have affinity for law, so i respect the opinion of lawyers, but on this case i feel you are wrong. First it would be difficult to prove beyond reasonable doubt that honourable Lloyd had prior intent to murder honourable chinda. Your revenge argument does not prove intent to murder. It only proves intent to revenge assault. Revenge does not necessarily mean intent to murder without taking what the person is evening into consideration. Honorable chinda might have hit Lloyd with a camera stand and honourable Lloyd decides to revenge with a mace. If you still insist on attempted murder, then i will ask, what prevented Lloyd from murdering Chinda? Who or what prevented Lloyd from macing Chinda to death? If chinda only maced chinda two or three times and left him voluntarily, then intent to murder is defeated. Then why are you so fixated on Lloyd, what of the policeman and sss guy that also assaulted Chinda? Is it because they used their boots and fists instead of a mace that you deemed them not culpable in the attempted murder charge? |
theoctopus: Chidi Llyod has provided the most damning proof of intent: revenge. When he keeps shouting he was attacked first, that is proof of revenge.Mr Octopus, we appreciate you taking time off you busy schedule to freely educate us on legal matters, but as a lawyer you should be first to acknowledge law is not black and white. |
The greatest tragedy befalling this nation is ignorance and illiteracy. I have explained that the police can not sustain an attempted murder charge on Chidi Lloyd in any court in the world. An assault charge would have made more sense. Then legislative immunity in the constitution would make the case more difficult. |
Myself2: So who is now under whose onslaught,as far as I know,Amaechi is under nobody's onslaughtAmaechi is not under onslaught by GEJ and his agents? What do you call the grounding of amaechi's plane after landing, then the refusal of the federal government to register the plane. What do you call the support GEJ and patience is giving to the G5 and wike against amaechi. Even patience has not even denied his grouse against Amaechi. What do you call the present lack of security cover for Amaechi and all his supporters. Please highlight the half truths i stated. kasiem: pls, was ppa an extension of pdp?are you just being mischievous or you are truly ignorant of nigerian politics? When and why was PPA formed? Kalu was under the umbrella for almost all of his 8 year reign as governor and formed PPA to wrestle the governorship of Abia from OBJ. Where is PPA today? Has it not gone under the umbrella? So who is now under whose onslaught,as far as I know,Amaechi is under nobody's onslaught Your comparison is warped and full of half truths
Amaechi is not under onslaught by GEJ and his agents? kasiem: the ngf supported sylva at the end what happened? abeg, orji and tinubu were able to survive obj cos they were not under the umbrella of pdp.Orji was not under the umbrella? Are you sure you know Nigerian politics. Were Dariye, Ladoja, Daniels not under the umbrella? The only governor OBJ was able to deal with successfully was Alams. Even Fayose survived OBJ's onslaught. |
kolado: Helo! The spectre of criminal liability hanging around Chidi Llyod's neck has next to nothing to do with legislative immunity. He might just as well face trial in that immunity only cover words and not actions that are criminal or violent on the floor of the house. His act is criminally reprehensible and it was clear he had the intention to kill chinda with the force he was pounding him with the mace. He cannot rely on provocation as a defence let alone self-defence as purportly defended by his lawyer. Secondly, the issue of his fundamental human right had been breached because he should be afforded fair hearing, constitutionally within a reasonable time. This is not the first time legislators had been assaulted on the floor of the state or national assembly, and no other case had even made it to court. Dino Melaye was assaulted by Bankole's supporters on the floor of the national assembly, and the courts declined jurisdiction citing legislative immunity of the offenders. One argument chidi's lawyer can present is that the house was not in session when the assault took place and so not covered by legislative immunity. But legislative immunity as stated in our laws allow a legislator to go Scot free on crimes committed on the floor of the state or national assembly. |
I have said it again and again, it will be very difficult for GEJ to win second term without Amaechi's support. Amaechi has 5 PDP governor upenly declaring support for him. He has the support of at least 19 governors on his side. GEJ can only be sure of about 6 PDP governors for now. There are some of uncommitted PDP governors who are just flowing along with GEJ. Governors determine to a large extent who becomes president in Nigeria. That is why the battles for the chairman of the governors forum is a do or die affair. Jonathan has made Amaechi very popular and relevant, just like it was OBJ that made Tinubu politically relevant. |
israel ben-zion:First I am. not in support of Chidi macing Chinda, it is a barbaric act. He should face the full wrath of the law ( if he is not protected by the same law by way of legislative immunity). But I am just using my lay mans knowledge of the law. Chinda obviously rushed to the hospital to draw sympathy. You should know most of the people we have as state assembly members and national assembly members have been identified as thugs, 419ers, drug barons, etc. So expecting Lloyd,Bipi, Chinda and so to be genlemanly and fight by pushing and shoving is being too utopic. I am even surprised star bottles were not broken and used to stab each other. First the mace that should act as the murder weapon was not brought from home by chinda but was high-jacked from the floor to be used to drive Bipi and his group. If he premediated to commit murder he would have brought the murder weapon with him. Ok, I hope I have time to take you up on your challenge, we would have to examine the macing video frame by frame and put all relating press statements into consideration in the written address. my mail address is same as my username with a yahoo.com |
israel ben-zion:I have followed this case and the argument presented by Chidi and his G27 is that Bipi and his group beat him and the speaker up and drove them all out of the legislative chambers - preventing them from carrying out their legislative functions. They called the Governor, who provided security cover as the regular police decided to support Bipi and his thugs. On coming back to the chambers with under cover of Amaechi's security, they decided to drive the G5 who were impersonating the speaker and the house of assembly with a fake mace. All others ran away but honourable chinda proved stubborn, so he maced him until he vacated the assembly chambers and then they proceeded with their leguslative duties. That has been the defense of Chidi and his goup. Revenge was never adduced as the reason for Chidi macing Chinda. chidi Lloyd did not accuse chinda of beating him earlier, it was bipi that was accused of beating the speaker and chidi and driving all other legislators out with thugs leaving only the other 4 in his camp. Yes, we saw Chidi and 2 other people assaulting Honourable Chinda on video, but to insinurate that Lloyd was attempting to murder Honerable chinda would be a long shot. And I would then ask why did'nt Lloyd murder chinda if he actually premeditated to murder him? From the video evidence Chinda was at the mercy of Lloyd, two or three more massive macing would have killed him, but he allowed him to walk away. I just wish, the police would allow the case to take its regular course, but I doubt it very much as this is more of a political case than a judicial one. |
rote231: Irrespective of whatever that might v occurred, what right does chidi v to attack n maim a member of the floor. Also, he has d guts to hit with d MACE @ d assembly!! He must b prosecuted n Jailed to serve as a lesson. Not just chidi bt also the MILITARY personel that held and beat d victim, they both must face d consequences. As i said, attempted murder charge would be very difficult to prove. But if chinda had died, even a manslaughter case against Chidi would be difficult. You would have to prove that the macing alone killed the victim. As was shown on the video, honourable chinda was beaten by three different people, so the courts would have a difficult time deciphering which of the blows or combination of blows actually killed him. And besides why were the other 2 assailants not arrested with chidi Lloyd. It seems they are only after chidi. |
israel ben-zion:My friend you allow prejudice to becloud your judgement. Do you have an idea of what it takes to sustain a murder or attempted murder charge? The police would first have to provide a motive for murder, then they have to show evidence of pre-meditation, meaning the killing was planned and not accidental. If chinda had died, the most likely charge police would have evidence for is manslaughter. Lets wait for the case to go to court to see the charges against Chidi Lloyd, that is if the courts can assume jurisdiction for something that happened on the floor of the state assembly. I wish the executive and the police follow normal legal procedures, it would enrich our jurisprudence. Thee police have no just cause to detain chidi more than 48hrs before taking him to court. What other evidence do they need to extract from chidi. They have video evidence, the should have gotten written statements from Lloyd, they should have gotten written statements from all witnesses that saw the macing. So why the illegal detention? |
I don't need to be a SAN to know that the worst ofense Chidi Lloyd can be charged for is assault, and the worst he can get is a light fine and/or 6 months jail term ( guess), that is if the courts assumes jurisdiction over happenings in the legislative chamber. I hope chidi is not being tortured to change alliegiance by the powers that be. Because the way the police are taking the case is like a political assassination or terrorism has taken place. Even Boko Haram suspects are not treated like this. |
2sexy, what happened? you said you would call yesterday but I did not hear from you. My three domains packed at sedo have 32 views and 3 clicks since I packed it there three weeks ago. Does that mean people are interested in the domains? I have not put it up for auction yet. The domains are removalsguide, suitmarket and windowdownloads all in the dot com domain. All the clicks came from windowdownloads so I am thinking it has great potential for a website. What do you think? |
bomking4x: Am using MTN bb plan with PD proxy,I can only browse without VPN if am using other networks but pd proxy + MTN bis is cheaper and faster...No time 2 waste unnecessary money while I can use my fone subscription 2 browse on pcThe VPN is the problem. If you plan to use Nigerian address and Bank account, you must show transparency by using nigerian IP. I have registered with godaddy, bodis, sedo, betfair and lots of others with my Nigerian IP, you just need to convince them of your identity and residencial address, and having a foreign IP with a nigerian address is suspicious. And another problem with VPN is that their IPs are often dynamic, meaning they change constantly. So your location changes each time you log into your account. You should realize that you must be doing something wrong since you are having problems with most sites you registered with. I suggest you write the support of those sites and explain why you used a foreign IP to access their site. Apologize and promise to never use foreign IP to log into their sites again if re-admitted. Also send scanned copies of your drivers license, electricity bill and your debit card(remember to blot out the last 4 digits). If you are lucky they might restore your account. if that does not work, then you will have to open other accounts with new IP (Nigerian), new name and new details. |
sedo is not opening on my tab since morning, but all other sites are opening. I want to know if it is general or it is only me. I want others to open sedo to check if it is a general problem. |
Too little too late. Why did they not ban stolen oil when the west was suffering an energy crisis and oil was projected to hit $150 per barrel? It is now that US has discovered massive amounts of shale oil that would lead to an oil glut that they remembered that that stolen oil hurts our economy. If the EU really wants to help us, they should ban stolen money, then I would begin to take them seriously. |
