PoliticsRe: Chidi Lloyd's Plans To Flee Foiled By Police by wirinet(m):
LastApostle: Logic, emotion and sentiment is all you exploited in your post.

Is there any evidence to nail Hon. Evans Bipi and Co. that they actually attacked pro-Amaechi law makers? NO.
Statement made caught on tape is bladderdash and can be refuted.

The four law makers have every right to register their displeasure in the happenings on the floor of the assembly. They are also constitutionally empowered to move a motion for the impeachment of the speaker.
Do you realise that their entitlement and other constituency benefits has been suspended by the leadership of the house and the executives because they refused to be controlled prior to their revolt?

There is no way 4 would be greater than 27 so why not the leadership of the assembly call bluff their 'myopic' coup. Those law makers wanted to take their rights as they deserve it not necessarily to overthrew the leadership.

Why didn't the executive arm called their bluff or even broker peace rather the executive combine with 27 legislators went to Miam and destroy helpless 4 opposition law makers? The state government was frustrating them and they registered their grievances as well they could do.

Chidi Lloyd is on his own.
My friend, it is you that is reasoning with emotions.
There is evidence against Bipi that he attacked Chidi Lloyd. Evidences caught on tape of Bipi's confessions of attacking Chidi and co is as strong an evidence as chidi macing chinda. If it is only video evidence that is admissible in court, no case would ever be proven in court.

The G5 have every right to show their displeasure of the leadership of the house - that is while the session is officially on and opened by the authentic speaker. But they do not have the right to forge a mace and start a legslative session without the speaker and purport to impeach the speaker. That in itself should be a treasonable offense. It is like 20 legislators entering the national assembly with a fake mace purporting to impeach Tambuwal.

The exucutive could not call their bluff because the government was fighting for its survival. If the G5 had gone unchallenged, the "impeachment" would have been recognized by the PDP and the presidency, and before you know it, the G5 would have "impeached" Amaechi. Then the PDP would have told Ameachi and Others to go to court. Amaechi would then be fighting for his freedom as all sorts of allegations would be levelled against him. Meanwhile, the Federal government would have time to bribe, harass and threaten the remaining 27 lawmakers into submission or have the G5 suspend them indefinitely.

You know in Nigeria the goverment can perform majic, as Fela would say Government Majic.

Does the police has the power to arrest chidi lloyd for interrogation? - yes

Does the police have power to detain him for more than 48 hrs without a court order? - No

The police should charge the case to court where all evidences will be examined - oral, video, audio and eye-withnesses. Then the court would determine if he is guilty of whatever offenses he is being charged for. That is things are done in civilized societies.

I wish lawyers would enlighten us on the case if charged to court. I suspect all that can be proven is battery and assult which carries a light sentence or/and a fine. proving attempted murder would be difficult because you would need to prove motif and premediatation.

The Nigerian police and lies. I am sure they are looking for excuse to lock lloyd up indefinitely instead of the 48hrs allowed by law. How did they come about the information he wants to flee the country since he was not seen near an airport or boarder. Do they possess a remote mind reader? If they have any evidence of him trying to flee, they should present in court during the bail application. It is wrong to detain him indefinitely illegally based on suspicions or conjectures.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria To Devalue Naira As External Reserves Dwindle by wirinet(m): 6:46pm On Jul 24, 2013
4 Play: How do we achieve the above exactly. . .import substitution, import tarriffs? All will raise the price of goods, at least in the short run, which is the very thing you are seeking to avoid by avoiding devaluation. You are also not guaranteed a favourable outcome in the long run by your quest to replace foreign products with local products as you might create a cossetted inefficient rentier local private sector that produce pricey low quality goods.

Any quest to boost local production has to be carefully constructed: tax and policy reform, invest in infrastructure, health and education as a way of lowering business costs. This, however, is a long process. In the meantime, it is absolutely imperative that we allow the Naira find its real value in the market, even if that means a lower value. Throwing foreign reserves at the Naira in order to defend it will rapidly deplete our reserves whilst doing nothing to help rebalance the economy. We have tried fixing the value of the Naira artficially and it failed spectacularly in the 80s.
Getting the economy out of the doldrums would require systematic planning, there is no quick-fix solution. We cannot embark on an all out local substitution of foreign consumer goods. We have to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and foods first, these alone would save us huge foreign reserve and help shore up the naira. Imagine how much dollars we require to import petrol and diesel, then add rice, wheat flour, frozen fish, cooking oil, salt and other basic food items. These alone would save us tens of billions of dollars in foreign reserves yearly.

The government first and for most have to either build new refineries or ease investments in private refineries by providing cheap crude, cheap loans, zero duties on refinery machinery and equipments and tax incentives. Then they should do the same for agriculture - especially food crops. Infrastructure especially as it relates to agriculture is essential, rail networks, storage facilities, tractors, fertilizers, etc.

A good scheme is to build pilot farm settlements and send youth coppers there for their one year service. we have thousands of graduates from our universities waiting to serve.

olajide_07: They want the CBN to not devalue the naira LOLz! What they should have done a long time ago!! Hahahahaha, when Nigerian's are going to dubai to buy clothes, shoes, bags, hair, luxury apartments, they are going to dubai to spend money or parties and champagne, *maybe I would do the same, party up*, but let's look at this, most of this money is stolen money, imagine how much funds has left nigeria and is leaving regularly, on hotel bills, plane tickets hotel reservations, we are going to china also, to buy clothing items wall the great china wall, japan to buy cars, so much is leaving, so also to Ghana for education, south africa, united kingdom on education matters, india on health issues to treat things we could locally treat, if some of these people, were not allowed to leave the shores of this country OH nigeria OH nigeria Hmmm you people would not kill me!, see the only revenues coming in -oil and company taxes, Directors, ministers special advisers, senators and Honorable's, are no longer storing their money in naira there is a high demand for the dollar, because of the value, go to their parties and see how it is been handed out*dollars O*, and what's may be the reason for storing their money in foreign currency, maybe because at any point in time - if a serious govt comes into power the features of the naira may be changed, and *Gbam* they would be affected, now rather then direct funds to developing the income generating functions, even if we may make loss on the initial investment in SME's, we are still importing refined oil, our industries are being killed by government policies, bank interest rates are over the roof, bad debts are not being written off, everything is just going wrong, and no honest direction is being charted out for the economy, political rubbish is what is playing out everywhere, imagine this, housing estates for the police, in which the guest of honor should be the minister of police affairs, max the SGF, but who do we see? commissioning trivial issues of housing for the already corrupt Police force- President GEJ see the harassment that is happening in police stations- we need this structural adjustment programme - our borders need to be closed for at least 10-15years, the size of the tcivil service should be reduced, and those working their should be paid a pittance - just 18k, to discourage people for looking for government jobs
Devaluation in isolation is not the answer, it would be counter productive. Remember the arguments for SAP in 1984. The naira was devalued from about N22 to the dollar to about N80, all it caused was hyper inflation. And now its N160, has it help local production? no.

Basic economic sense shows that devaluation helps only a net exporting country to make their products cheaper in the international market, because foreigners would need less dollars to buy the same goods. but for a country like Nigeria that wholly depends on exports it will only lead to making imported goods more expensive as we would need more naira to buy the same goods.

Since we produce very little and even where we say we produce, most of the raw materials and machinery is still imported from abroad, so how would devaluation help us.

Devaluation would not stop most of the vices you stated above. Devaluation would not stop nigerian elites from travelling to dubai to buy bags, luxury houses, champagne, etc. Govenment officials and their cronies would still steal the same value in dollars, the only difference is the equivalent in naira will run into trillions instead of the normal billions.

What we need to do before we can contemplate devaluation is to reduce our dependence on imported consumer goods, especially food and clothes and encourage local production and consumption. Then we would not be so dependent on the dollar.

kingoflag: Maybe you guys need to worry more about corruption than about producing this or manufacturing that. Just a thought because you can implement every policy known to man but if u have rampant and chronic corruption as you have in Nigeria, then ure just wasting ur time u will never develop.
Cronic corrption is a feature of rent economy. In rent based economy the relationship between the government and the governed is that of indeference because the government does not depend on the people to survive. If all the people strike (except the oil workers) or they are all nuked out of existence, the government would still collect its rent from oil companies. But tax based economy cannot afford to antagonise the population too much, as the government depends on taxes from its population to survive. The government is forced to establish a symbiotic relationship with its populace. The government provide amenities and infrastructure for the people to be productive and the people in return provide money in the form of taxes to run the government. That is why in a tax economy tax offenses are taken as seriously as murder. You are forced to pay the tax and still spend long term in prison.

Dudu_Negro: It is convenient for you to prejudge me that way because you are desperate to score a point. I want logical response with deep insight, not a debate to see who wins the argument.

Im not advocating that by all means a 16yr old must be married. Im saying the choice to do so, since it is morally and legitimately acceptable, must not be outlawed.

I want 16yr olds to get education and prosper but there are instances when a parent may need to invoke this option and get their girl into wedlock.

Im giving a social argument not a Islamic doctrine.

If im rich and i have a 16yr old who wants to marry i will allow it. That doesnt stop her education and i can support her and her husband wih no problem. If its outlawed then that choice is taken away.
This debate is not about winning arguments, it is about presenting our views and opinions on the subject matter and both sides are very emotional on the issue.

I want you to understand where we are coming from.

Men are perverse as far as se.x is concerned, we have a long history of sexual exploitation of women. The only protection omen has against sex.ual exploitation by men is the law. That is why when there is a breakdown of law in any society - as in war, the first group that suffers are women, especially the younger ones. They are immidiately turned to se.x slaves. One of those pervertions and fantasies men have is to be the first to break the virginity of women. This is responsible for men looking for younger and younger girls and now they are going after pre-teens to satisfy their fantasies. This is the reason you will find someone like Senator Yarima marry a 15 yr old and in a few years discard that 15yr old with kids and marry another 14yr old. This scenario plays all over societies where teen and pre-teenage marriage is practiced, with all its attendant social problems. So people are angry because this is view as a sort of sexual exploitation and not a love based marriage.

We view this law as just a legitimization of paedophilia.

Now if two teens of similar age want to marry due to love or other circumstances, people will not be so revulsed, but from reality, most of the child bride are given to much older men by their parents for financial or other gains.

I am an advocate of early marriage by girls, because their biological clock ticks faster than that of men, but she should at least add value to herself( no matter how small) before before settling down to family life. I have said earlier that the age of 16 can be considered for marriage in special circumstances and the age difference between the couple must not be too wide. But you cannot legislate the age of the man a full adult woman can marry, that would be against her fundermental human rights. A girl of 19 can marry a man of 80 yrs and vice-versa, with or without the consent of their parents and there is nothing anybody can do about it. (eg. Ojuwku and Bianca).

People like yarima and the other 36 senators we not thinking of the welfare of young girls when voing on this issue but of their own lubido, because Sani Yarima had 8yrs to affect the life of the girl child as governor and he did nothing.
PoliticsRe: The Moral Question On Age Of Maturity by wirinet(m): 4:17pm On Jul 23, 2013
Mr Dudu Negro, I have saddened when Nigerians always look for flimsy and untenable arguments to support their vices and vanities. What is bad is bad and what is acceptable is acceptable.

You are probably supporting child marriage probably because you have engaged in it or you see this debate as an anti-muslim debate. Meanwhile most muslims in Nigeria and the world over is against child marriage.

You tried bringing in an exceptional situation of war when child soldiers are used as a justification for allowing girl child to marry. Tell me what exceptional condition can exist in todays world to conscript a girl to marry? Then even at that child soldering is against international law and is condemned universally and no one is using God or culture as a justification for child soldering

Your other argument about girl child marriage not being about sexual fantacies of old men is pure dishonesty. Most of child marriages are between old men and little girls. it id very rare to see a 16 or even 18 year old boy thinking of marriage. An average 18yr old boy cannot take on the responsibility of catering for a family, unless the marriage is at the prompting of the famililies and are taken care of by the families. I am sure Yarima was not thinking of marriage between two young couples when he was arguing his position on the floor of the senate.

Can you please answer these questions;

Can a 9 yr old make a conscious decision to fall in love with a 50 year old man?

Is it not an exploitation for a parent to collect bride price for their 12 yr old daughter without her ability to understand the implications of marriage?

If a 12yr old is deemed an adult to answer Mrs., should she not be deemed an adult to vote and be voted for, drive, etc.? Or is she deemed an adult for purpose of sex and producing babies only.

What about the boys, if a married 12 yr old can be deemed an adult, why not allow 12yrs old boys too to marry and be deemed adult? why the discrimination? are married girls more intellectually matured than married boys of the same age. Does the act of marriage and se.x confer a sort of supernatual maturity on girls transforming them into instant adults?

How does a relationship even develop between a 50 yr old man and a 12 yr old girl? Will the man woo the girl and toast her, for the girl to fall in love with him or he just goes to the parents and ask "How Much?"
PoliticsRe: Nigeria To Devalue Naira As External Reserves Dwindle by wirinet(m): 3:31pm On Jul 23, 2013
CFCfan: The bottom-line is this: Nigeria has to become a manufacturing economy in order to mitigate the adverse effects that a devalued Naira would brung to the populace. To achieve this, the banks have to peg their interest rates between 5-9% ( Yes, I know that's a fantasy); by so doing the SMEs would have increased profit margins which can lead to a further expansion of their businesses. This would in turn, enable them to employ more people.
The stark reality is that Nigeria cannot become a manufacturing economy. We do not have the infrastructure (power, transportation and education) to base our economy on manufacturing. Our comparative advantage lies in our huge fertile land mass, our massive population and our relatively young population, so agriculture is where we can make an impact.

China rules the world as far as consumer manufacturing goes because they have the infrastucture, skill and population, so much so that even US and EU cannot compete. Imagine Detroit with its huge manufacturing economy has gone burst.

We can start with agriculture and then venture into agro-allied products, but manufacturing is a waste of tim and resources. we do not even have the basic raw materials and machines and still have to import them.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria To Devalue Naira As External Reserves Dwindle by wirinet(m): 1:28pm On Jul 23, 2013
Devaluation has not started yet, by the time the new realities hit Nigeria, we would be exchanging $1 for N500. The naira is being kept high by CBN pumping excess dollars into the market, sanusi could do that because of available slush of dollars from high oil receipts with dollars selling above $100. But with the production of shale gas, the US is set to compete with OPEC in oil production. So OPEC would lose control of oul prices and oil prices would come spiraling down. That would affect the availability of dollars to the CBN, leading to supply shortage.

Anybody who do not want to die of hunger better keep his or her PHD, MSC or BSc inside his wardrobe and till the land. Because agriculture and agro-allied business will be the only to survive in the very near future.

The sad aspect is that the government seems oblivious of the unfolding economic realiies and are not investing massively in agriculture.

how so?
early marriage suddenly removes the brain of these girls from their cranium? there are no married women studying in federal universities in nigeria? please drop the propaganda! the fault lies with the government, not the people.....
Please stop arguing off point. We are not arguing whether a girl can go to school while married or not, what we are against is parents selling their 13 yr old kids to old men as 3rd or 4th wife to old men using religion as an excuse. Ojukwu at almost 60 married bianca in her early 20's and no body condemnef them. What we are saying is let the girl reach an age she can make the decision of who she wants to marry herself, and not have her parents sell her off.
PoliticsRe: Marriageable Age Of Places Around The World by wirinet(m): 4:27pm On Jul 21, 2013
JaaizTech: Marriage is a cultural issue and also a personal issue, I sincerely believe that if not for the intent of antagonising one and other, this won't be generating so much controversy.
My intent is to first state the Islamic point view. Islam does not stipulate an age for a girl to get married, but what Islam says is that when a girl attains the age of puberty, the parents should hasten to Marry her to a suitable person. The age of puberty varies and hence no particular age is stipulated. in the past whether in European, African or Arabian culture marriage was contracted early, sometimes below 10. Did this practice in itself mean an end of the world for the girls, did it make them lesser human beings or immensely detrimental to their well-being is the question to be asked. If Hausa culture encourages early marriage I think we should all respect that, none of us love those girls being married out early more than their parents, so let us stop pretending we care that much.
Marriage is not a death sentence or an end of the road, for anyone. I am married with 2 kids and my wife is still schooling, so also are many people that I know. if truly, we care about the age of the girl, then why are our girls so sexually active at JSS level, I remember vividly, Sandra and Eniola, they were between 13 - 15, even though fully grown, when boys (university boys ) were already after them, they had no intentions of marrying them but to just have fun. These are things we should show disgust at, why not ask for a legislation against fornication, if truly we are sincere.
You are mixing up many issues just to defend your own interpretation of your religion. Many muslim nation would not agree to your islamic view that a child of 13yrs can marry. You should be aware that cultures evolve and changes according to the socio-economic situation of the time. In the olden days, early marriage was essential because, the economy was agro based and education -especially for women was non existent, so it was essential for women to leave their fathers house and produce as many able children for land owning men to tend the land. Also life expentancy was short due to wars, famine and diseases, so it was important for women to start producing babies as soon as possible to preserve the population. But now the situation is different, we now live in cities, and our economy is no longer based on agriculture. Women now needs to be educated to be able to contribute to society and the pressures to produce to preserve the population is no longer there. So forcing girls to marry old men at 13 is counter productive. All societies have passed through this phase so it is not just a northern or islamic thing. All societies and cultures of the world allowed 9 yr olds to be married at one point in their past, but they have realized the negative consequences in modern society of such practices. So I don't think it id proper for us to always try and reinvent the wheel and always learn from our mistakes.

The fact that a 13 is sexually active does not make her ready for marriage and motherhood, they are completely parallel issues with no relation to each other.

Just as it is difficult legislating against same se.x activities, it is difficult legislating and enforcing fornication because it is done by 2 consenting adults in the privacy of their homes. It is not a case of one party exploiting another.

Apart from not including the cost of harvesting, he also ommited the cost of storage, de-hauling of the ears and bagging of the corn. And we have not even considered transporting the corn from the farm to the market or where it is to be sold.

Futhermore, I feel the N6000 provision you made for insecticide is grossly inadequate for a 1 hectre(15 plots) plantation. Are you fumigating only once and how are you delivering the insecticide; by yourself or hiring a profesdional. And you did not make provision whatsoever for birds. birds pose a more serious problem to corn plantation. My friends that has a small corn farm always complain that birds reduce his harvest by as much as half' especially if the corn is not harvested on time.
PoliticsRe: Marriageable Age Of Places Around The World by wirinet(m):
Shym-x, You made some valid points about the age of marriage not being consistent around the world, and I alo liked your arguments about social evolution whereby primitive practices are gradually phased out. But then you go and spoil your arguments by stating that what happens in Northern Nigeria does not affect us. I do not believe you actually said that in this age of globalization when what happens in london can have far reaching consequences on nigerians in ibadan, not to talk of what is happeningin mali or chad.

You are using your age statistics wrongly, if you check well, there is no way the Yerima episode would be allowed in any of the countries you stated, where a man over 50 and with 3 other wives, including a Child wife is allowed to marry a 14 year old teenager. Even most Arab countries where the islamic religion started would not accept that.

In most countries you provided statistics of marriageable age for, it was lowered to make provisions for special cases where two closely aged couples are desiring to marry for expediency purposes (maybe the girl is pregnant and abortion is out of the question), or for aristocratic purposes ( by wealthy or aristrocratic families) to strengthen family or business ties. Meanwhile the Nigerian case is purely for sexual exploitation of girls by rich and powerful old perverted men, who practical buy the young girls off their parents purely for sexual satisfaction of the old men. Tell me how is it possible for a 13 yr old girl to fall in love and choose to marry a 50 yr old man? After marriage what will be the basis of the relationship outside se.x?

Why we are affected in all these is two fold; First the funds to run this child molestation system is coming from my region directly, most of these perverted men are non productive and rely on money from the centre gotten frtqom the resources and hard work of other regions. For examle where did yerima get the $100000 he was said to have paid for the egyptian minor? it was definitely sourced from the south-south.If they can generate their own revenue and decide to use it for exploiting young girls, then it might not concern me.

Secondly this system of using children as se.x slaves and baby production units is one factor responsible for the almajiri problem in the north. A lot of the young brides are abandoned once the teenage bride becomes a woman, either by the man moving unto younger brides or dying from old age. Then the women and their numerous children are left to fend for themselves. A lot of them migrate to other states and become a social problem and the ones that stay behind provide a source of terrorist recruits for Boko Haram and co. Believe me many families have been affected directly or indirectly by these terrorist organizations.

I wonder why some Northern old men can't excersise patience and wait for a few years for girls to fully mature before they poke their long john into them? Why the obsession with teen age virgins? We can even reduce the marriageable age to 16 as a compromise but marrying a 9, 11 or even 14 yr old girl by a 50yr old man is sickening.

You are indeed sick. To justify underage marriage because of teenage delinquency among young girls is sickening. To try and use Islam to justify it shows your perverted mental state. For your info most Islamic countries prohibit child marriage. So because some young girls without adequate parental guidance are promiscious means they are ready for the responsibility of marriage.

So your religion reduces women to sexual objects and it reduces marriage to a means of acquiring women for sexual pleasures only. No wonder your brothers are ready to bomb themselves over promise of unlimited se.x (marriage) of 72 virgins.

PoliticsRe: Protest Against Child Marriage To Hold Today In Lagos,Abuja And Other States by wirinet(m): 1:08pm On Jul 20, 2013
I really do not understand my people anymore, what exactly is the protest going to be about? Nigerians are easily swayed by emotions so much so that they protest and fight without even understanding the issues at hand. The senate never passed any law legalizing child marriage, the section of the constitution in question is one dealing with renounciation of citiznship. This is the section in question;

Section 29 of the 1999 Constitution says:

1) Any citizen of Nigeria of full age who wishes to renounce his Nigerian citizenship shall make a declaration in the prescribed manner for the renunciation.

(2) The President shall cause the declaration made under subsection (1) of this section to be registered and upon such registration, the person who made the declaration shall cease to be a citizen of Nigeria.

(3) The President may withhold the registration of any declaration made under subsection (1) of this section if-

(a) the declaration is made during any war in which Nigeria is physically involved; or

(b) in his opinion, it is otherwise contrary to public policy.

(4) For the purposes of subsection (1) of this section.

(a) “full age” means the age of eighteen years and above;

(b) any woman who is married shall be deemed to be of full age.

From the above, I do not how the above relate to child marriage or child bride.

The keyword is the bolded section which states for the purposes of subsection 1 of this section. This simply means any woman who is married is deemed to the of full age for the purpose of renounciation of Nigerian citizenship. It did not specify when a child becomes a woman and it definitely did not specify an age when a female child can marry, drink alcohol, vote, drive and any other age restricted activity.

Even if senator yerima feels this section validates his child marriage to a minor, it does not, because I assume the age of marriage is specified by another law.

So the question we should be asking is at what age does a female child become a woman and at what age is a woman allowed to marry in Nigeria. Also what age can a person able to sign a contract and be held responsible for their actions.

These are the relevant aspects of the constitution we should be debating and not at that age a woman can renounce her citizenship.

In addition, the law itself is very stupid and irrelevant. does it mean a nigerian woman married to a nigerian can renounce her citizenship or it refers to a nigerian woman married to a foreigner? I beg I need a learned person to educate me on the practicality of this subsection of the constitution as it relates to women.

The greatest diplomatic blunder i have heard from any leader. He was throwing unstubstanciated allegation against a foreign government that has a cordial relations with nigeria? To say that gansterism is a problem in Mexico is one thing but to accuse the Mexican government of sponsoring gansterism is a serious allegation. So how does he expect the Mexican government to relate with his government?
PoliticsRe: Coup Imminent If Rivers Crisis Persists - Abdulsalami Abubakar by wirinet(m): 2:43pm On Jul 19, 2013
Too many neophytes making juvenile statements on nairaland nowadays. A whole general who fought the civil war and handed power willingly to a civilian government is taking and juveniles are here ridiculing him.
Can't you people deduce that he may have privileged information from disgruntled elements within the military before he came out to give the subtle warnings. Are you not aware that senior generals are informed before any major coup.

People say coups are outdated but one just happened in Egypt last week.

A word is enough for the wise.

deleteme: Now this old foolish man called Soyinka will still compare himself with the great ACHEBE? now even some little girls insults him.....what a fool.
What did Wole Soyinka say about the Rivers Crises that "the great" Achebe did not say during during the Anambra crisis during Ngige's tenure?
PoliticsRe: Warri North Crisis: Ijawyouths To Hand Over Arms by wirinet(m): 7:08am On Jul 19, 2013
This is a welcome development. I hope Ijaw elders are able to control their youths and desperate politicians who attack and kill their neighbours at the slightest misunderstanding. The youths needs to be schooled in the art of non violent agitation. A war would hurt both sides. Both sides are yet to recover from the casualty of the last conflict where lives were lost by both sides and some youths want to start another one.

The amazing thing is that ordinary ijaw man and itsekiri man have no issues. Even at the height of the last conflict my cousin married an ijaw lady. It is the politicians that ignite conflict to gain political advantage.
PoliticsRe: Abacha's Daughter Lash-Out At Wole Soyinka On Twitter by wirinet(m): 10:50pm On Jul 18, 2013
Now the most comic aspects of this wole soyinka's episode is that the same people demonizing a yoruba man for criticizing the president and his wife for interfering in rivers state, had in the past messiahized an igbo man - prof Chinua Achebe for saying worst things against Nigeria, Nigerian presidents and its leaders.

I know you are too young to know the history of Nigeria but no other first lady had ever interfered with the job of a governor even under military regime, so no other first lady has exposed herself politically. Then let me educate and surpise you, many Nigerians in the past had insulted the worst dictators Nigeria had ever produced and they lived to tell about it. Fela insulted incessantly OBJ while he was head of state, he insulted the dreaded maximum rulers- Idiagbon and Buhari and he survived. Gani did not let IBB rest. Even Abacha had it rough from the same wole soyinka, Gani, Tinubu and Nadeco members. So quit promoting the fallacy that former heads of states or their spouses had never been publicly insulted.

Gumsu Sanni Abacha claims "Wole Soyinka is a "Mad Empty Professor that lives on bad mouthing his Motherland and continent for Dollar and euro!"

Fatima Gumsu Sanni Abacha is one of the daughters of the late General Sanni Abacha ...

https://twitter.com/G_sparking
I am horrified that a senseless oneliner by an inconsequential daughter of a former dictator can elicit so much passion by seeminly intelligemt people. What is a mad empty professor and what is her qualifications to be able to conclude an academic professor is empty and mad.

How has the prof badmouthed his motherland or the continent of Africa for that matter, is there any evidence that the prof has ever insulted Nigeria or Africa, unless Patience Jonathan is now Nigeria and Africa put together.

The UN seriously need to declare a literacy crises in Nigeria, the inability of its youths to read and comprehend is worrying.

In addition, was she even old enough to remember what her father did to Nigeria and the african continent just for power and money(naira dollars and euros). Why does she not throw such tantrums on her own mother who was an accomplice in hers fathers greed.

When Wole Soyinka was risking comfort, life and resources, people like Bipi Evans and the G4, Doin Okupe, Ruben Abati, Wike and all the Nairalands Jonathan and patience fan club were sitting quiet in the comfort of their homes. But now that the prof has spoken his mind about the excesses of the Jonathans, he is now unintelligent, bias and after Niger Delta oil.
So how much of Niger Delta oil did president Jonathan give the prof for being one of the few persons that supported his becoming acting president? And how did the president say thank you to professor wole soyinka?
PoliticsRe: Chidi Lloyd Declared Wanted By Police by wirinet(m): 3:27pm On Jul 17, 2013
I have no problem with arresting chidi Lioyd or any other legislation that was involved in the show of shame that took place in the rivers state house of assembly. What I will hate is arresting him and locking him beyond the constitutionally allowed period of 48 hours. His case should be taking to court. It will be interesting to test the issue of legislative immunity at the courts. We need to know the extent of thus legislative immunity.
PoliticsRe: Anti-amaechi Protesters At Port-Harcourt Airport Yesterday (Pictures) by wirinet(m): 7:24am On Jul 17, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: I know there's a thin line between violence and throwing stones but throwing of stones is one COMMON feature of protesters all over the world. Why do protesters throw stones? They throw stones to reach targets the security people prevented them from reaching physically.

Yes, all Nigerians deserve protection but the level of protection you get is determined by the level of risk. Presidents all over the world get maximum security because they face the highest risk. The governors are local champions who do not even require much physical security if things were working properly.
You are still skirting around the truth. There is no thin line between violence and throwing of stones, throwing of stones - especially rocks is a violent act. Because it has the potential to cause serious bodily harm or even death. And in other parts of the world politicians are not pelted with rocks but with tomatoes, eggs, etc, that cannot cause bodily harm. It is in confrontation with the police that protesters often use stones, petrol bombs and other harmful objects. Or they throw stone at public property to cause damage. But they never throw rocks at elected officials without getting arrested.
PoliticsRe: Anti-amaechi Protesters At Port-Harcourt Airport Yesterday (Pictures) by wirinet(m): 7:02am On Jul 17, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: What was the police supposed to do? Kill all the protesters? Didn't people protest against removal of fuel subsidy for several days? This is democracy. Both the pro- and anti-Amaechi groups have the right to protest and even throw stones. The much the police can do is restrain the protesters to certain areas, which they did in this instance because the four governors and Amaechi moved to and fro the govt house. The police cannot stop people from throwing stones.

Moreover, governors are not the president that needs maximum security. Even the president with his maximum security was once a victim of stone throwing protesters.
Are you serious? I blame people who take you serious. You kill reason, common sense, consience and morals just to justify the propaganda you promote. So the police are meant to stand by and watch protesters stone elected governors of other states in Nigeria? what do you think would have happened to Rivers state indegines in those state if any of the governors was injured by one of the stones.

Now would you still hold that positon if Amaechi's supporters use stones on president Jonathan's Car and damaged it. Now can you support your lie that GEJ (or any other serving nigerian president for that matter) was ever pelted with rocks, and the police, SSS, military were just watching. I am sure you know the security caldron around nigerian presidents when they move. Please provide us with a link.

I honestly do not understand the strategy you and your principal have for winning the next without the support of the northern and south western parts of the country. No governor especially from the north and the south west would be happy that some of their colleagues was stoned by Jonathan's police and no arrests were made.

I do not have the time to go through your past posts but I can bet my life that you are one of the persons that was against the fuel subsidy protesters. I am I sure you then hold the position that people have no right to protest against Jonathans policies. I am sure you would have tribalized and personalized the protests as merely an ethnic vendetta against your principal. You would also have supported the army's forceful stoppage of the non violent protests. Now you are supporting violent protests because it was pro- Jonathan. Shameful.
PoliticsRe: When Common Sense Trounces Academic Brilliance! Soyinka Vs Orji Uzor Kalu. by wirinet(m): 7:37am On Jul 15, 2013
It is beyond belief that people could Eulogize Orji Kalu. That is the hight of Nigerian hypocrisy. Some nigerians seems to have collective anmaesia or they have difficulty comprehending reality.

Orji Kalu was 10 times worse than Amaechi, when he reigned supreme in Abia State he was God. The only person he took orders from was "Madam Exellency" OBJ dared not give orders to him not to talk of his "domestic appendage". No party member could preach "the party is supreme" doctine to him. In fact Orji Kalu was responsible PDP losing the strangle hold it has in the east. After splitting thr party, he then came back again in an attempt to become relevant again. Who in PDP has commited worse anti party activities as Kalu.

Nigerians are ready to support the devil as long as he says what our ears like to hear.
PoliticsRe: Reconcile With PDP Or Defect - Afenifere To Amaechi by wirinet(m): 9:35pm On Jul 14, 2013
deletrue: But why do people like you still exist? You do not have ears to hear, you are are without brain to reason etc. etc. So, my questions is why do you think people like you should live in midst of other reasonable people?
The issue is about political party and that Ameachi is told here to either stay in pdp and continue to abide by its rules or free to decamp to another party as this will no doubt, avoid all these problems. That apart, will also prevent Ameachi from always putting the president and party on cross road. Is this analysis not making reasonable sense and understandable? Or would you want Ameachi to continues to remain on the fence to cause more problems? How i wish there is a place where i can force people like you to become more reasonable!
People like you require one more evolutionary step to get to Homo Sapiens. Homo Sapiens means thinking man but you are yet to develop the ability to think.

Now, what aspect of PDP rule has Amaechi flouted. What ideology of PDP has Amaechi gone against. And which of the existing parties has an ideology that is in tune with Amaechi's, so that he will not have the same problems he is having in PDP. Is Amaechi contesting for NGF chairman against party advice a violation of PDP constitution? or the is the transformation agenda a PDP idealogy? To me the difference between PDP, ACN CPC and even APC is in acronym only. They all have the same ideology - Lootocracy.

Then which fence is Amaechi siting? It is the PDP that is trying to force Amaechi out of the party by attempting to take control of the party structure from him and suspending him and his supporters.

I do not understand how Amaechi can put the President at cross roads. Amaechi's job is in port harcourt and Jonathan's job is in Abuja, so I don't know how they can cross the same road.

The brains of some people is frozen in bronze age, they have no idea of what a modern government entails.
