remzytimer: U're a fool for saying what u 're ignorant of, it seems u have not been following the case so it will be better for to keep quiet rather that speaking ill of our security!!!!You that is wise and well informed, why don't you educate us ignorant people on the facts of the case. Have the Lebanese suspects in this case been charged to court? Have the sss got a court order to hold the suspects indefinitely? Is belonging to Hezbollah a criminal offense in Nigeria? does Nigeria even consider Hezbollah as a terrorist organization? please do us a favour and enlightened us. |
qualified: Barr. Lawyer, if these guys were nigerians in other countries, will all these talks have risen? The reason nigerians are maltreated foreign countries - even neighbouring Cameroon is because of lack of protection from nigerian government. Other countries protect their citizens even if charged for terrorism. Remember Michael Adebadejo ?(the UK soldier murder suspect), was saved from Kenya by the British government. Even the Iranian that imported huge arms into Nigeria was saved by the Iranian government. What is difficult is taking the man to court is there is enough evidence? I honestly do not understand. In the Us we all witnessed the trial and conviction of mutallab, why can't we do the same? |
Our judiciary is still in stone age, our investigative services is in jurassic age. If proper investigation had been done done, why have the sss not taken the case to court. The sss has been prosecuting and have tried, convicted and sentenced the suspected Hezbollah sponsor on the pages of newspaper. The nigerian law does not allow for the detention of anybody without a court order. And they definitely cannot seal their businesses indefinitely without a court order. I am not swayed by emotion or public sentiments, the amego hotel owner might be guilty, he might be innocent, we can find out only after a court trial. The whole arms issue could be a set up by enemies, competition or opponents. And possession of firearms does not necessarily amount to being hezbollah or terrorist without other further evidence. Lets wait and see. |
Me too i am calling for a Muslim first lady for once Must lagos first ladies always be Christians? I think the supreme council of Muslims should look into this case of marginalization. |
I tend to agree with Dorothy on this. I feel in the long run plastics is more environmentally friendly than paper. Of course humans - especially the negroid variety areas very short sighted, we are only able to see short term problems and short term solutions, but is unable to appreciate longer term problems that has far more disasterous consequences. The fact that plastic degrade slowly should be seen as a blessing. it means it can be recycled again and again and again almost ad infinitum, but we are far too lazy to go through the process of proper disposal, collection and recycling. We prefer to dump them in land fills, in the oceans or burn them where they constitute harm to man, animals and the environment. The desert is fast moving south and most of our rain forest is gone, so you people want to finish the few trees left standing because of your inability to organise our waste management properly. Do you not think paper wastes will still block our drains and constitue similar problems posed by plastic waste. I remember waste cans constituting similar problems as plastic waste. Now where do you think paper is gotten from, from trees of course, and do you know the importance trees play in regulating the temperature of the earth, maintaining the oxygen and ozone level, reducing carbondioxide levels, maintain bio-diversity on the planet and a host of other important features. Do you know that nigeria, most of west africa and south america are losing their rain forests due to massive deforestation to feed the paper and furniture industies of the west? and someone is suggesting we make simple things like water containers and simple bags in paper. What about bread, biscuits, snacks, and a host of others foods and drinks, should they be packaged in paper too? The main reason plastics is constituting a nuisance in Nigeria is not due to the plastic itself, but due to incompetence and a breakdown in governance. In a situation where government abdicates its responsibility to provide safe drinking water to every home, how do you expect the masses to get relatively safe and cheap drinking water? plastic are not used only to make pure water sachets or nylon backs but chairs, tables, utensils, computer parts, phones parts and lots of other products. are you people saying these should be banned also because of our non existent waste management system? |
To me this is just a bait. It is full deceit. A law cannot be made retroactive, Jonathan and the governors signed for a possible 2 year tenor of 4 years each, so any new change in tenor cannot apply to them. If the laws makers insists of the new law being retroactive, all the governors and Jonathan need to do is go to court, they cannot lose. |
obandy: Ameachi is still talking rubish and arrogance, organising opposition to rally around him. Why not join them at once you could be their presidential candidate, why are you looking for sambo's job when you can get GEJ's job through APC?But when the opposition organized rally around vice president Jonathan to rescue him from Turai, aandoka and the cabal, jonathan was not anti-pdp. And no body was talking rubbish. It is morally wrong to use state resources to force people to accept your wishes. Democracy is about negotiotions, bargaining and convincing others to follow you. It is not by force for every pdp member to accept Jonathan as the presidential candidate for 2015. president Jonathan through his proxies is expending too much energy fighting amaechi, it will disrupt the whole pdp. |
Sounds Good that pure water and plastic bags have been banned. But then what are the alternatives? would we have paperbags cheap enough to carry our bread, groceries and other small items we buy from the markets - from N1 - N5. And can water be packaged in paper containers (and cheaply too) as plastic bottled water pose the same problem as plastic satchet water (pure water). |
2s£xy:As i said, i have not used AOL for over 3 years now and i did not know about aim.com. But what i did then was borrow the aol cd from a friend and installed it on my PC. if was after installation that i created the account and signed in. I even used to surf on public cyber cafes with my laptop and it still gave me US IP. So i do not understand how aim works, do you have the software or you can download it online. Using aol was not like using yahoomail or gmail where you just enter their sign in page and create an account, you have to download the software(browser) first. Have you seen my mail? |
2s£xy:It probably means Nigerians have abused that route. I registered easily 3 Years ago and was using their IP. I can't try it now as i and currently browsing with android. I think the other option is to find a good proxy, the only problem is proxies are considerably slower and if your internet connection is already slow, then it would be difficult to browse the internet. I will try and see how i can help if i get my hands on a windows PC I did a bit of googling and found out AOL have been having problems for about a year now. check complaints at aolanswerscom/questions/create-aim-account-7-password_518419843248146 put dot before the com.( avoiding the spam bot). It also says you can register through face book, so try it and see. |
ifihearam: Thats the best way to lead, not that yeye rotimi, every governor must be loyal to the president, much more a very humble and understanding president like GEJ,a president with highly deserved international respectability. Jang is threading on the right path as well as the 14 governors who went with him, others will face the music of usurpation. This is the wrongest way to lead, jang and his pro-Jonathan group has abandoned governance of their state and taken permanent residency and office(secretariat) in abuja. I honestly do not see the usefulness of a permanent secretariat for a mere governor's "kparapo". For your information a governor does not owe the president loyalty, the governors pledge allegiance to Nigeria and owe loyalty to their electorates. So anybody talking about loyalty is thinking of monarchy and not democracy. Then i wonder why it is only governors that are required to be unmindfully loyal, other party members like legislators defy and oppose the president at will and there is no talk od disloyalty. How can 14 claim victory out of a total of 36 governors. For the fact that 19 governors voted ameachi means he controls more governors and we are not even talking of house members and senate yet. It seems amaechi has more support from elected pdp members while Jonathan has more support from appointed pdp members. |
2sexy, I need some of that your knowledge too because i have been attempting to make some money online for the past 4 years and to no avail, chiefly due to the Nigerian factor, slow and expensive internet connection, poor power and lack of good payment options like paypal. But today things have improved, as i internet is much cheaper and relatively faster. But the Nigerian factor still remains. If you download AOL, create an account and sign into your mail, you IP would read USA. If you can find a virus and malware free proxy IP, you can go to the internet explorer or firefox internet settings and input the proxy IP address manually. Your IP address would change to that of the country the proxy IP is located in. The diffucult part is finding free proxy servers. I used to have some good ones from US and UK about 3 years ago when i was doing some business that required foreign IP, but i do not know if they are still working or even if i still have them on my PC. There are some websites that is dedicated to finding good proxy servers. |
mrnestyy1985: hi,Chief' na wa o. These your lectures na gold o. Anyway I would copy the above to word so I can read it over and over again. When you say adsense parking was closed last year, do you mean adsense parking in general or just your own adsense parking account. Furthermore, how else do you generate revenue from parking your domains. I had thought that click through rate for page views hover around 2-5%, I did not think it could be as high as 20%. Do you have contents in all your 25 unique domains?. Are you saying Google now pays for number of people that views your pages? |
2s£xy:I am weary of putting my money in someone else's account, your business would be at the mercy of that person. The person might no remit all or some of your money and there is nothing you can do. I think opening a paypal account yourself is the best option. You do not need an ip changer to change your ip, you can go through american online or change it manually if you are using firefox or internet explorer. I will mail you to collect your phone no. when i get to lagos next weekend. If you are proficient in SEO, market research, back link building and content creation, you should be a millionaire by now. If these are your first love, why did you abandon them for just domains. And why did you hand over your money spinning website ti your friend? dont you want to make money? I need your help in SEO and Keyword and market research. I have a great idea foe a website/blog dealing in Nigerian news and current affairs, i want to seek your opinion. i will brief you in my mail. |
2s£xy:I will take you up on your offer when I get home. I am not at base right now. I travelled out of town. It seems you only do domains, you don't flip websites. So how do you intend to surmount your handicap - being a Nigerian in Nigeria. It is this same handicap that discouraged me from domaineering 4 years ago. Are you going to change your whois information or you employ private registration? What about payments? Western union is a very unprofessional way of transacting business. And if you decide wire transfer, that would give your Nigerianess away. so let's me know how you intend to resolve these issues. |
mrnestyy1985: Here is a tipThank you once again for sharing information, giving out information is more valuable that giving out money. But I quarrel a bit with your exaggeration. Making 20k - 500k through adsense is no beans. To make up to $100per month, you would require up to at least 5,000 page views a day. Building traffic to a new site is quite a challenge, that is why I think other means of generating income should be employed instead of just adsense. I know someone in a niche(health)that have been using adsense for up to 3 years now and is yet to generate $100 inn total. I want to ask if you have been able to implement the method as you adviced. Do you write your articles yourself or you get a copywritter? do you implement the method in all you domains? because managing articles in like 10 domains is not an easy task. |
I find it amazing that people are not seeing the grave danger poised by a divided Governor,s Forum. All the governors have their own private millitia and have huge reources, should the governors use resources at their finger tips to compromise security, Boko Haram would be child's play. You should remember Boko Haram, MEND, Bakassi boys etc started as private millitia for governors to rig elections before they took a life of their own. So anybody who loves nigeria to encourage the governors and the presidency to sheath the sword or risk a conflagation. |
Thanks mrnestyy1985 and 2sexy for your contributions. I am interested in the domain selling business, infacti have been considering for a few years now, i have not just gotten the hang of it. mrnestyy, i appreciate your site and i gleamed a lot of useful information from it. I want you to talk about website flipping, don't you think it is more profitable than just domaineering? |
If 65 million nigerians are illiterate, then how many are half or semi illiterate? Because there are lots of bachelor's degree holders can can not write a complete sentence in English. There are also Master's and doctorate degree holders that cannot speak or write properly. In what category would Patience fall under? |
Does Jonathan have the power to remove Salami? I thought they were waiting for his term to run out in a few month to replace him? Well lets wait for details from the media. |
Uyi Iredia: Circular reasoning, because it is well-known that it is moral (or good) to be logical. BTW the Incas and Aztecs were cannibalistic yet built great empires. Furthermore, I always note that people use circular reasoning to justify morality or the origin of morality it is said that morality is useful, advantageous, necessary which clearly means the same thing and are all presumably moral. Some even say reason or logic, but these also are presumably moral.correction, the Aztecs and incas were not cannibalistic. Human meat was not a delicacy eaten by ordinary citizens in the society. It was practiced as a religious ceremony by the high priests at certain times of the year and it involves very few persons. What is eaten at such ceremonies is the heart, not that a pot of human meat soup. |
Deep Sight: The question is about morality: and not efficiency. Morality goes to the individual and what is right and wrong. Why should an individual even be concerned about the group? Why would it be wrong or immoral to be only concerned about himself? Indeed, talking about group survival, why would it be wrong for an individual to be actively interested in decimating the entire group for his own selfish interest and pleasure. What makes that immoral for him to do - if indeed he is merely a smarter ape? Would you consider a very smart ape to be acting immorally if in his smartness he decided to eliminate other apes to conserve resources for himself? Why would that be bad or immoral?Morality is often set by a group and not the individual. Moral codes are a set of rules that bind the group together and set to promote progress and developments of the group. And these moral codes differ from society to society. Some society see killing and eating certain animals as immoral, others see having muliple spouses as immoral, same for drinking alcohol. japan sees suicide as a very moral thing to do to save a family name from disgrace while most people sees it a very immoral thing to do. An individual is concerned about it group survival because his own very survival depends on protection from the group. it is universal phenomena, social animals such as ants, bees and humans that put group interest above personal interest survives much better than solitary animals. Same for societies that put group interest above personal interest. That is why i believe the Nigerian society cannot survive very long, the individuals therein put personal interest above group interest. History has shown that when a smart "ape" tries to decimate other less smart "apes", it always back fires in the end, because the less smart "apes" come together to fight the more powerful and smart "apes". this has happened throughout history, from hitler to Nero to saddam. The most successful societies are the most socially advanced societies and not necessarily the smartest. |
As a related digression, man evolutionary journey could not have allow cannibalism for nutrition purposes because man evolutionarily is a herbivor and not a carnivor, and not even an omnivor as seen today. A look at our dentition with big molars and small canine reveals adaptation for chewing and grinding Fruits and nuts and not tearing of meat. Without claws and canine for tearing meat, fire for pre-digesting the meat and to long an intestine with little hydrochloric acid for digesting meat, it would have been impossible for our ancestors to have eaten meat. A look at our closest relative, the gorilla with almost identical body structure and organs survives almost entirely on fruits, vegetables and nuts. |
I am honesty tired of these anti abortion debates debates, we have argued the same points over and over again and it will come up again in the future. Anony and co are just using emotional blackmail in comparing the holocaust to abortion of a foetus, it is a very dishonest attempt to get people to tow your religious and moral lines. There is no jurisdiction in the world that equates abortion to murder. It is called abortion. You can check the dictionary to understand what it means to abort a process - a baby in these case. A baby is born the second it leaves the womb of his mother, before that it is a foetus (a potential baby), and its rights are tied to that of the mother. All these moral anger dictated at women is to control what women do with their bodies, it pains loss of religious zealots that women now have liberties over their bodies unlike in the past where they were controlled by men and the society at large. So who is committing the so called holocaust against babies, the women, the doctors or abortion clinics. I hope you people do not go round burning abortion clinics. If you people feel so your sensibilities or rights have been infringed upon by abortionist mothers, doctors or clinics, you have the legal option. |
Deep Sight: i addressed these questions to Plaetton on another thread, but I now think this merits a thread of its own. These questions are for strict materialist atheists. To avoid all mystery, the questions are intended to contest the basis of morality of the strict materialist atheist.hello deepsight, it been a while. You are still obsessed with this your question of objective morality. This argument of yours that mortality is given from above has been discussed in the past without any headway. I hope this new one would yield some positive results. 1. Is it wrong or evil to kill animals and please state the reason for your answer. It can be wrong or right to kill animals depending on circumstances. If the animal is killed for food or it threatens the survival or welbeing of an individual or group, then there is nothing wrong with killing of the animal. But killing of non food or non threatening animals is morally wrong. 2. Is it wrong or evil when animals kill other animals and please state the reason for your answer.same answer as above. In fact out of all species of higher animals, it is only man that kills other animals for fun. 3. Is it wrong or evil for a cannibal to kill you for the purpose of consuming your meat as food for his sustenance.cannibalism is very wrong - especially when done for food. Any specie that engage in that type of cannibalism would go extinct very rapidly. Evolution ensures individual, group, family and specie survival, so it is against evolution for a specie to engage in cannibalism. That is why there is a strict food chain ladder, with smaller and numerous animals at the bottom, while bigger and less populated species are at the top. Animals that feed on itself cannot sustain its population. It will be even worse for an intelligent specie like man. With our propensity for greed, the day human meat becomes a delicacy would see the strong wiping out the weak and accumulating and storing enough meat for generations. ( a kind of matrix situation would be created). In fact the vary fabric of human society would break down. |
Yes Nigeria can quell Boko Haram insurgency in the short run by massive deployment of troops but in the long run, the effort will be fruitless. Boko Haram is as a result of a breakdown of the society, all the structures that make up a society had broken down, especially in remote northern towns and villages, - the police, the judiciary, the social services, schools, infrastructures, everything. And Boko Haram came in to fill the vacuum created by absence of government as nature abhors a vacuum. Imagine,Boko haram having recruitment and training centres and taking control of numerous local governments for months now and most Nigerians including government officials are unaware. So unless, the armed forces would stay permanently to police the towns and villages, man the borders and perform customs and immigration services, provide some form of social services, then the Boko Haram insurgents would return as soon as the army leaves. |
Sincere 9gerian: I still dont understand why some people want the governors removed. I wouldn't support any measure or state of emergency that'll dismantle democratic institutions. Yes, OBJ did it but it was WRONG. It is WRONG to use state of emergency to settle political scores. That was exactly what OBJ did with his state of emergency. How can you talk of Democratic institutions when the country is under siege? Did you not hear that the government - both state and federal have lost control of a sizeable portion of bornu. If seems you are oblivious if the fact that these states are bordering on anarchy. The "DEMOCRATIC" constitution makes provision for suspension of "DEMOCRATICALLY" elected representatives, unless you are arguing with the constitution. What GEJ is doing is actually unconstitutional, you cannot declared a state of emergency and still have governors and all elected representatives in office. |
Pedagogue: Under GEJ, impunity is not only thriving, absurdity is the order of the day!!!I agree with you, until you cut of funding for the Boko Haram and instil fear on the governors and other political office holders, boko haram would be difficult to defeat. GEJ some times forget that he is the commander of all the nigerian armed forces - equivalent of a full general. He needs to show the Boko Haram and their supporters a snippet of that power. If jonathan goes tough on the Boko Haram, he will have the full support of all regions of the south and most of the middle belt, it is only the political leaders of the north east and north west that will grumble. And all they can do is shout. But it seems Jonathan has 2015 on his mind. |
I support 100% the imposition of state of Emmergency on Boko infested states. The only problem is that a state of emergency without intelligence gathering capabilities and coorporation of neighbouring countries would just be a waste of time, resources and lives. The borders should also be partially closed, because the boko boys launch attacks from neighbouring countries and return there to hide. Finally the state of emergency should include purge of Boko Haram sympathizers from the police and armed forces, which still boils down to a good spy network. |
Sincere 9gerian: I dont think state of emergency will make much difference. Most of the Boko Haram affected states are already in state of emergency, which allows JTF to operate freely in those parts of the country. What is remaining maybe is removal of state chief executives. But can replacing the governors make the security operations in those states more effective? I dont think so. It may end up being a DISTRACTION. When the military in Mali felt that the politicians were not handling the Islamic insurgency in their country well, they staged a coup, toppled the political leadership. What followed? Did the situation get any better? No. In fact it got worse because immediately after the coup, the Islamic insurgents took the whole of the country. Also the state of emergency declared earlier in some local govt did not yield any result. |
Confusion247, and you think instability in northern Nigeria would not destabilize the whole west African subregion including biafra. You really need a lesson in international politics. |
