Politics2015: DSS Mops Up Arms In A’ibom by Wisdytech(op): 8:01pm On Oct 02, 2014
https://brainnewsng.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/dss-702x336-2.jpg
Determined to forestall any security breach, the Department of State Services (DSS), Akwa Ibom Command, has begun an aggressive and thorough mop-up of illegals arms and ammunition ahead of 2015 general elections.

The State Director of DSS, Mr Toma Minti, disclosed this during a media chat in Uyo on Thursday.

Minti said that the service had seized quite a substantial number of arms and ammunition suspected to have
been illegally bought by politicians for next year’s election.

Represented by the Deputy Director Operations, Mr Fubara Duke, Minti said the DSS was determined to partner with other security agencies and the general public to ensure that the 2015 election was devoid of bloodshed.

“The morale and readiness of DSS operatives in the state have been heightened to confront and surmount any security challenge that may crop up before, during and after the election.

“We need the public to inform us on those they believe deals in arms and ammunition to enable us rid the
state of crime,” he said.

On the insurgency in the northeastern part of the country, the DSS helmsman said that no part of Nigeria could be regarded as completely safe and immune from the activities of terrorists.

He said that Nigerians must accept the fact that the nation was at war.

He however condemned a section of the Nigerian media for not playing the role of dependable allies in the fight against insurgency and all manner of criminality being perpetrated by enemies of the country.

Minti specifically accused some media houses of acting as advocates and propagandists for the Boko Haram terrorists.

He said that some news reports rather than support the anti-terror campaign, had created psychological panic in the minds of Nigerians.

He, however, called on the media in the state to exhibit professionalism and caution in the reportage of political and security matters.

Minti assured that the DSS would continue to partner with the media in the discharge of its functions. (NAN)

PoliticsHow To Be A Good Politician by Wisdytech(op): 2:21pm On Oct 01, 2014
1. Mean what you say and say what you mean; this builds trust and confidence.

2. Tell the truth; they say politicians are liars but this does not need to be true, you can chose to be different and better; a good Politician knows how to be skillful in telling the truth, he does not need to lie, examples are people like Nelson Mandela and Abraham Lincoln, these men were not God but people like us who won human trust.

3. Don’t go into politics or government to enrich yourself; focus on building your society and liberating your people, and good things will come to you including money.

4. Develop a genuine love for people and learn to be a good listener.

5. Don’t be dogmatic; keep an open mind to every issue.

6. Don’t see your opponents as enemies, see them as friends and brothers in the same struggle who agree and disagree on the common goal of changing and building the society, after all even in our families we disagree but we don’t destroy each other because of that.

7. Don’t participate in the game of politics with hatred and bitterness; this two will consume you and by extension your followers.

8. When in office remember that such opportunity comes to very few men and women once in a life so don’t waste it, maximize it by using it to solve the problems of your community and beyond.

9. Surround yourself with the right people who will help you to achieve your goals not people who are not on the same page with you or people who are coming to steal.

10. There is a difference between LOYALTY and BLIND LOYALTY, so be loyal but don’t follow wrong and foolishness.

11. Learn to be a good communicator; speak to people in the language they understand, touch their heart, feelings and needs, not your ego!

12. Reject the politics of ethnicity and embrace all people with love for we are all one and wreck in the same boat of challenge, as long as governance is concern.

13. Study the history of your community, state, country, and even the world; understand the past of your people so that you know how to chart the direction for the future.

14. Have a vision and plan for what you want to do for your community, state, and Country. Don’t be visionless and remember to review your aim regularly. Sycophants will not tell you the truth, though oppositions distract but more often its only they and you who can truly and boldly say if you have actualized or not the purpose of your leadership.

15. Embrace the virtue of courage for without it all other virtues are useless.
Courage is the mother of all virtues.

16. Be principled. Don’t be tossed by every wind. Stand for what is right even if you are alone. It is theirs to dictate, advise, influence but remember to use your discretion for finally the shame or glory is attached only to your name.

17. Resist Fear. Fear is one of your greatest enemies.

18. Confront your opponents with logic, facts, reason, and principles not with sentiments or
Hear-says.

19. Before you take sides, pass judgment or take a stand on any issue; listen to all the parties involved and get all the facts (right).

20. Put the interest of your community, state, country and even humanity first and above every other interest.

21. Focus more on leaving a lasting legacy and not immediate needs; the key point is leaving any place, circumstance, idea etc. better than you had found or inherited it.

22. Let the majority have their way and the minority their say; even
the minority should be accommodated.

23. Never underestimate or overestimate your opponent.

24. Make yourself approachable and accessible by your people no matter how big or small.

NOW TO BE A FOOLISH, BAD, WICKED, POOR, UNINTELLIGENT, AVERAGE, UNGODLY, AND NORMAL POLITICIAN DO THE OPPOSITE OF ALL THE ABOVE.

ALL THE BEST PEOPLE!

CelebritiesJason Derulo And Jordin Sparks Break Up by Wisdytech(op): 12:23pm On Sep 29, 2014
Safe to say we didn’t see this one coming. Jordin Sparks and Jason Derulo have split,
multiple sources confirm to E! News. We’re told that their breakup was mutual, but they still care very deeply for each other and will remain in each other lives as friends. Derulo first confirmed the duo’s romance in
January 2012, although the pair was first
romantically linked as early as September 2011. The now former couple was never shy about putting their love on full display, often posing together on the red carpet, sharing steamy selfies on social media and even gushing over each other during interviews with the press. The duo most recently attended the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards together late last month, where the pair coordinated their outfits, rocking all-white ensembles. Sparks also told E! News that she would be going on Derulo’s upcoming Talk Dirty tour and the pair even dished on their ideal date nights.

Last year, the two sparked engagement rumors when the 25-year-old recording artist proposed to Sparks, 24, in the music video for “Marry Me,” which was inspired by their real-life romance. “It is about Jordin, actually,” the singer told E! News of the single at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. “And it’s talking about how amazing it will be when I get down on one knee and it will be the greatest moment of my life.”

He added: “You can’t fake anything because true love is true love, and that’s the basis of our relationship.”
Nearly one year later, the engagement speculation was still in full swing when E! News caught up with the “Wiggle” crooner and asked him if he had any plans to pop the question soon.
“When the time is right for sure,” the handsome singer revealed, playing coy on an engagement timeline. The singer also previously praised Sparks for being instrumental throughout his recovery after he broke his vertebrae back in January 2012 and later told E! News that it was after that moment he “definitely” knew Jordin was the one. “Of course we have our problems just like anybody else,” he admitted to us last month. “But our relationship is a positive one and that’s good for people to see in today’s entertainment industry.”
Sad news for fans of the happy pair! Wishing you both all the best.

CelebritiesWhy I’m Quitting Music –9ice by Wisdytech(op): 10:16pm On Sep 26, 2014
https://brainnewsng.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/9ice-2-700x336.jpg
He needs no introduction because his name rings a bell. But for those who don’t know him, he is Alexandra Aboloore Adegbola Adigun popularly known as 9ice. The 34-years-old Ogbomosho, Oyo State indigene started his musical career singing fuji, a genre laced with Yoruba idioms and parables. Now, as an Afropop musician, 9ice is definitely pulling his weight. Not many will forget his run away hit, Gongo Aso, which was a sort of national anthem a few years ago. In this interview with TS Weekend, he opens up on his career and why he is dumping music for politics.

How did you start your musical career?

I started like every other person; when you don’t have any work to do, you would roam the streets searching for one thing or the other to do. When boys and girls have nothing to do, they begin doing things together looking for talents in themselves. That was how I discovered my talent in singing and I pursued it as a dream, and today, I have been able to achieve that dream.

Why do you always lace your music with Yoruba proverbs?

I grew up with my stepmother and I count myself lucky, because whenever her friends came around for a visit, I usually listened to their conversations. They used to speak in parables a lot, so I must have picked one or two things from them. When I started singing, I inculcated some of the proverbs into my music, and they were widely accepted by my fans.

What are the challenges you’ve encountered in your career?

When I first started my musical career, it was so tough and rough because no parent wanted to see his or her child take music as a career. Then, I stayed with my stepmother and I hid my career from my parents and siblings, because they believed that music was for touts and never-do-well in the society. But now, things have changed, parents now want their children to go into music. When my parents saw my first album, they called my attention to it and said they will support me henceforth. Though, it has not been easy financially, I bless the name of God for seeing me through.

What are your achievements so far as a musician?

My achievement has been so wonderful, at least I have seven albums to my credit, which my fans love, and I have also won seven awards. I give credit to my friends and fans because they are the ones buying my albums. They are the ones that make me get some money from my shows, and I bless the name of God for it.

Your poster is everywhere indicating your interest in politics, why are you quitting music for politics?

Yes, I want to leave music for politics. Next year January, I will be 35-years-old and I’m not praying to still be in music at that age. I am serious about politics now. If you listen to my music, you would notice that politics has been part of me; it’s in my blood. When I started initially, I talked about being your brother’s keeper, and that’s why I studied Law at Lagos State University before I dropped out to concentrate on my music career. I hate when things go wrong. When two or three people are having issues, I love to get there to settle their differences. I have passion for politics and it has always been in my blood.

You and your producer, I D Cabassa are reported to be at loggerheads, what’s your relationship with him now?

There is a confusion going on that I had a quarrel with my producer, I D Cabassa. I’ve had a good relationship with him since I met him. In life, there are things that people don’t seem to understand, any artiste can have so many producers that he or she wants, and when the album comes out, you can put any of the names you like as your producer. It’s not a crime if the producer has done well or not but it’s a matter of choice. I never had any fight with I D Cabassa; I don’t know where people get their information. Presently, I am working with ID Cabassa and Puffy T on a project and they have been so wonderful.

If you go fully into politics, most of your friends and fans will miss you?

I will say they will love me more by the time they see the plans that I have for them. I have so many plans on my mind. Imagine if the late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti was a politician, he will not just criticize the mistakes of our leaders but also correct them. Imagine if Wole Soyinka was to be the president of this nation, people like him are only preaching the truth and criticising the government but they are not ready to get into politics to make corrections. I am tired of preaching, I want to contribute my own quota for the sake of my people. We have graduates riding commercial motorcycles (okada), selling meat etc, their certificates are not being used but they are shouting that the government is not doing well. There can’t be any change if the youths don’t stand-up now to do something to help the country.

Who is Tony Payne to you?

She’s nothing more than we have kid for each other.

Recently, Tony Payne says every political aspirant is looking for what to eat, are you sure she’s not referring to you?

Hmmm, if it is because of what I want to eat, so be it. Thank God I can drink my garri in the afternoon and eat beans at night without any stress. I can even drive my car to wherever I want to go. I can go to my friends’ houses to watch DStv, even if I don’t have it in my house, glory be to God. 1 Kings 19:7 says: ‘and the angel of the Lord came again the second time, and touched him, and said, arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee’. I don’t allow anything or anybody that might want to distract me in my journey, because the journey is too far. It’s not about what I want to eat but what I want to contribute to the development of my people.

What are your plans when you eventually become a legislator?

I come from Ogbomosho North Local Government Area, which is my constituency; we have other local government areas populated by farmers. They have maize farms but they don’t have good roads and water. 80 per cent of the farmers still use cutlasses and hoes. If they are given tractors and they are introduced to modern farming techniques, they will not only cater for themselves but they will also cater for people in other parts of the country. Even if it is only onions that they plant, so many states will benefit. Aside from Ekiti and Ondo States, I have never seen any other western state that is more educated than Ogbomosho. But after their education, the people still go back to ride commercial motorcycles, engage in farming, transportation etc. For youth empowerment and employment, I am going to organise workshops where people can learn many things like how to make soaps, toiletries, threads, candles, fashion designing, hairdressing, catering, electronics, carpentry etc. Immediately, they complete their training, we are going to give them some money to start up their businesses. We are going to make provisions for LAUTECH students because they don’t have hostels; we are going to provide accommodation at a cheaper rate. We will also provide transportation for them. There would be scholarships for primary and secondary school students including free transportation. In my constituency, WAEC fees will be paid for students. I will donate my salary for four years to widows and people who cannot work again, I will give them stipends every month.

You are coming out under the umbrella of APC, have you been nominated as their candidate?

No, but every member of the party is eligible to aspire for any position; it is now left for the party to choose or to go by election. Six of us are going for the same position under APC. The party will decide on how the candidate will emerge.

Let’s pray that you win, but assuming you didn’t win, how would you feel? Would you go back to your music?

My own politics is not a do-or-die; if my party refuses to pick me, life goes on. I will still support the person that won. I’m not doing what I cannot afford to do. Thank God, I am not owing any bank or anybody money, I can’t do something that I cannot afford, so I have no problem. But it will be recorded that Aboloore Akande vied for this post but didn’t win. People will know that I am not a spectator but a participant. For what I will do if the primary didn’t favour me, hum, I will go into business or any other thing that will give me money. Or better still, I will get back to my music career or talk to one of my friends to employ me in his company. Nothing do me, I am a Nigerian that knows how to struggle.

Ghana new coach will be named later next month, a member of the three-man search committee Fred Pappoe has said.

The Football Association opened up application for the vacant Black Stars job after parting company with Kwesi Appiah on mutual consent.

Reports in the local media claimed, a substantive coach would be named on Friday to handle next month’s 2015 AFCON qualifiers against Guinea.

But Pappoe, who serves as member of the Ghana Football Association Executive Committee, says Ghanaians would have to wait a little longer.

“We have received about 28 or 29 applicant and we should trim it down to about 11 by the close of the week,” Pappoe said

“I have said this we are not in a hurry to appoint a new coach we should appoint a stop gap coach to take care of the game against Guinea and take our time in naming a good coach to come in after that.
