I am guilty of no. 4 but not entirely. I have been working on expressing myself better. people dont get what I am implying sometimes.

I hate lies too and pretence. Why would you pretend to anyone esp someone you want to spend an eternity with.

not 2 forget that this relationship doesn't end in this world.

I pray Allah gives you what you want.
Amin... Almighty Allah will give everyone of us the best of partner that we desire and pray for.

Hmmmmmm, why am I still single?

With the saying of the Prophet Muhammed PBUH that marriage completed half of a Muslims deen. It should always be the desire of every good Muslim to get marry BUT Prophet Muhammed also said "This life is a joy and its best joy is a GOOD WIFE." [Muslim]. Based on this fact, IT IS NOT A SIN TO LOOK FOR A GOOD/PIOUS WOMAN TO MARRY.

I know I am not perfect so also I AM NOT LOOKING FOR A PERFECT PERSON (somebody claiming to be perfect pissed me off easily) but there are some few quality I need in a person (WIFE) that I will spend the rest of my life with; because I can't marry more than ONE WIFE (I don't have the requirement of marrying two, three or four wives, which is EQUITY as stated in the Holy Qur'an; I don't think I can treat everybody equally, so let me leave the Sunnah to those who are capable of doing that cool ).

Few quality I really want in a girl that will be my wife are as follows (though I can let go of some while some are extremely important):

1. RELIGIOUS: I want a religious person that will always help me in upholding my deen (though I dont have so much passion for an Hijab Sister). A girl that always cover her hair and do it moderately without showing any part of which Almighty Allah prohibited, is alright for me.

2. SERIOUSNESS/FORWARD LOOKING: I just can't stand un-serious person, they easily pissed me off. I like intelligent girls who really know what they want in their life and not "only fashion-freak type" who what they think everytime is fashion and party. I like goal-getter person because if you even establish for such person, you will definitely appreciate what they will do with your money.

3. STRAIGHT FORWARD/HONESTY: Like I always said "you don't have to tell me everything BUT make sure ANYTHING you are telling me is simply the truth". Any day I discovered that somebody lied to me, my likeness for such person will start depreciating and she can never earn my trust for long time to come.

4. Express yourself and don't accuse: If you want something, ask. If something is wrong, say it out. Don't drop hints or figure, I am not a psychologists to know what you need or want every time; say it exactly how you see it rather than talking in parables. Communicate calmly, clearly and directly. Relationships work best when we calmly express our emotion without harping on what we have done.

5. Accept me the way I am: Don't expect me alone to always shift ground (successful marriage is always based on little compromise from both party). Let us correct ourselves and make compromise in order to have an harmony in our relationship. Always remember we are not born from the same parent and also not from the same background; so our behaviour will definitely be different from each other, but with time and patient we can always work things out once we can compromise.

Any girl that can possess all the above listed traits is definitely what I want.

Though, I am still searching but I will come across her very soon Insha Allah.

olawalebabs: Why I am still Single

Hard to say, let me start this way, It take two to tango. At the inception of this thread some years ago, i was single, I mean real single the type my people refers to Apon, without the intention of even settling down then. Then, week in week out I do received Invite for Nikkah from friends and even younger one. Then and there, I know "Agba ma lon da yi" That mean, am not getting younger anymore. I started my 'hunting', there is this 'game' I have been eyeing, though tough to 'cage' her. But with Allah, things are getting better. Sooner than Later, I will have cause to invite you all for e- walimah. cheesy cheesy
Noooo, Ojoro cancelled (Cheating cancelled) cheesy cheesy cheesy cool

You have not given us reason why you are still single ooooo, all what you did was to tell us how you are getting old and the 'game' grin you are eyeing.

olawalebabs.... Tell us why you are still single oo, is it financial, quality or what?

*waiting eagerly to hear oooooooo*

Jazak-Allah Khairan to everybody on this thread that has contributed meaningfully and (we) that are also gaining one or two lesson from it, Almighty Allah will continue to guide us to the right path. I really like the way and manner we are treating this issue; that is the modest of been a good Muslim (explaining in clear terms without abuse or forcing opinion on others).

In my quest since yesterday to really look for ways of tackling the challenges mention, I came across one wonderful article which I will like everyone of us to read carefully and let us reason together about it. I will divide the article into 2 parts for clear understanding and easy reading; Insha Allah the TWO PARTS will be found Interesting.

LET'S TALK ABOUT DATING - PART ONE

The word “dating” has long been a taboo in the Muslim community. From an early age children are reminded that Muslims don’t date and that dating is “haram” (prohibited). I remember receiving these messages as a child from my own parents and as I became a teenager, I had to explain to friends that I couldn’t go out on “dates.” Having a boyfriend was not even an option and even receiving a phone call from a boy to get a homework assignment was met with interrogations from my parents. Like many of the youth today, I continued to abide by my parents rules and just held onto the dream that one day I would get married and everything would be perfect. However, exactly how I was going to get married was not discussed. My mother told me of her arranged marriage to my father and how it all just happened, reassuring me that my husband was “written” for me – “it is all in God’s plans so don’t worry, it will just happen.” I continued to believe in this magical destiny well into my college years. I finally met a young man I was interested in marrying, but I had no idea how to navigate the experience and found myself lost and confused. This type of idealistic thinking leading to confusion and even rebellion continues to be prevalent in our community. Every Muslim is raised with the idea that they will someday get married, but prior to that there can be no interaction with the opposite gender. Well, this makes meeting the person you are “written” for and getting to know him or her for marriage nearly impossible.

Out of a fear of western values that accept pre-marital sex, the Muslim community has become paralyzed when approaching the issue of dating. However, many Muslim youth have abandoned the notion of no dating and have chosen to date behind their parents back instead. Other Muslims have accepted that there is no dating and have completely abstained from interacting with the opposite gender. Yet, others are frustrated at how difficult it is to meet Muslims and instead choose to date and marry a non-Muslim because it’s easier to “get to know” them when so many restrictions are not in place. Today many youth are wandering around, feeling confused and discouraged about how to approach marriage and how to get to know others while simultaneously seeking to maintain their Islamic values. Parents and community leaders have established the boundaries between genders, yet they have not given practical advice. The lack of direction is leaving young people frustrated and susceptible to the western cultural norms all around them.

The Qur’an reminds Muslims to avoid fornication in Surat Al-‘Isra’ “And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way” (17:32) but it does not give specific instruction on how Muslims should go about finding a spouse. The wisdom we take from this is that our faith identifies the boundaries for us, but it is up to the individual to pave his or her individual path within those parameters. We, as a community, need to reconcile the best way to get to know others for marriage particularly in the times we are living in. Throughout history and the world, most marriages were arranged marriages and only in the past 100 years has the process of getting married changed into what today is called dating. “Dating” in today’s culture has become a frivolous activity with no intention of marriage usually leading to pre-marital sex, but it wasn’t always like this. Throughout history, with the exception of modern times, courtship was seen as a bridge to marriage. In the early 1830’s to 1900’s the U.S. evolved out of arranged marriages and developed the process known today as ”courting.” According to Webster’s dictionary, “courting is to engage in social activities leading to engagement and marriage.” It is a sexually abstinent relationship, with parental involvement, allowing two people to learn about one another for marriage within the context of honor and respect for one another.

According to this definition, courting may be a viable alternative for Muslims who do not want to go the route of an “arranged marriage” nor the route of modern “dating.” Of course, courting sounds completely old fashioned when placed in the current cultural climate. On the other hand, it may even sound too much like “dating” to many in the Muslim community who can only accept arranged marriages or a strictly controlled process. However, Islamic courting may be the natural progression that needs to take place in our community in order for Muslim youth to get married without engaging in frivolous or harmful activities as well as being keenly aware of their Islamic values.

I know there are readers who at this point may be astounded that I am suggesting a less restrictive alternative, but honestly I believe it is time for us to consider options. “Islamic courting” is not an arbitrary activity. It has a purpose – two people taking time to determine compatibility for marriage with the full awareness and support of their parents.
This is where I will stop the PART ONE for now; Part TWO will be posted as soon as possible Insha Allah.

Lady Winona: Okay, I've been following this thread quietly for some time now but for some reason I've been unable to find the courage to import something. First of all, I think chrisvicmall charges are way too exorbitant that at the end of the day, I'm barely making any profit but that's not why I'm here.
I'm here to contribute to this thread and pass on some info that I saw yesterday that can help anyone import goods at almost 1/10th of the price that chrisvicmall is charging.
I was reading Lindaikeji's blog yesterday and one of her articles was on a set up like chrisvicmall that aids people in importing their goods just like chrisvicmall but at ridiculously cheap prices. This setup is MICOSTAR MALL.COM and they charge $3.40 per pound (I.e 2.2kg) from usa to lagos and then an additional 0.99 per pound if ur place of residence is another state other than Lagos. They will help parties interested in purchasing items from major online shops in usa and asia including alibaba.com. U wld agree with me that it is much cheaper than chrisvicmall that charges $13 per kg plus an additional $10 for aiding in the transaction and deals only in one or two china based sites.
I am using this opportunity to tell the house this info cos I want to know if this micostarmall.com can be trusted cos if they are, then I'll say that they are the next best thing to happen to young people hoping to improve their lives.

Thank u
I was wondering how there service charge could be so cheap BUT when I get to the website, I can see the reason why. I will even prefer to use FREE SHIPPING FROM CHINA than spend $3.80 on micostarmall.com that will deliver my goods between 15 to 20 working days as I dont really see much different between them and Hong Kong Post (may be they may be consider for a safety purpose of goods due to the complain some guys had on NIPOST about missing goods).

There price might be good when shipping from USA and UK but that will also be based on the urgency and purpose of such goods order.

deols: okay. about my singleness. It really isn't a big deal to me but I realised that in the last few months, people I care about have been asking the question jokingly and suddenly, I felt old grin

I had my life planned out, sometime ago. In my plan, I won't be married yet(2013) but won't be single either. Even if I wasn't single or not married as planned, there were ways to live my life. I am still in d early twenties. what to do in d mid twenties, late twenties, etc as a single woman are all in my head. Of course, I don't want to marry late but heck, if life decides to play hard, I'd still be happy. so you see, I am bound to make a careful selection.

Now, scrap what is on the first page of this thread about what I want in a man. no, don't scrap it. I want exactly the same things I wanted two years ago but with an understanding that the superficial things don't matter that much.
I met someone who wasn't actually all of that and still ready to go for him. there was only one thing to him- he was REAL but that eventually proved not enough.

Well, this is an anonymous forum(save a few elements cheesy) so I can actually say my mind right? I perfectly understand whom I am and what I want. I naturally have high standards-good taste in food, shoes, practically evrything. In fact, my supervisor for my final yr project used the same words to describe me while penning his comments on the works. This standardisation appears to have gotten into way in my selection process.

I am not a perfect being though. In fact, I disagree to being all that to a typical Nigerian man and I want one ehgrin. here, I am talking about my definition of what beauty is. I work hard for a beyonce or say a halle berry and a nija man wants a kim kardashianhuh 1.

writing gets to me and will never take wish for which nor their for there..this one is uncompromisable. So even when I meet the Dr. and I have who can't express himself in proper English, or the lawyer who makes d grammatical blunders, I am so totally off even if he's d most goodlooking young man out there. 2.

I like professionals. Even if it is d teaching profession(hell no!) I'd rather hear something like, I studied law but actually hate the courts and decided to become a businessman. I now buy and sell. than dangote didn't even go to school but is a billionnaire. There are things you can not learn outside the walls of a university 3.

I naturally find myself taking the lead wherever I find myself but won't respect a man who allows me do that with him. I dont mean him competing with me.nor would he disregard my expertise. He just wont let me get in the way when unnecessary. That would require that he is much more than the average whom I naturally intimidate on most occassions #sounds complicated ehn? 4.

As much as I hate to be wrong, I appreciate genuine concerns for my oversabi. A man who can always put me where I belong without being insultive will win my love cheesy anytime. unforunately, people who try do it the wrong way. 5.

some younger men can be pretty stupid, immature, lack communication skills and are too demanding. some who look a little good are too full of themselves and think that is enough for them to get anyone 6.

some people are from the bush and still have their bush mentality. They want wives who would wash their clothes and be ornaments to their houses, handbags to their public appearances and kneel to present their food. tufiakwa.olohun ma je. such traditional men are like a no no from a very long pole. I feel embarrassed by them sef. 7.

last. some of them think they are not rich enough to seek what they want.well, I actually don't want anybody's money 8.

....hmmn! who will marry deols ooooooooo smiley

now modified.
cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

Your reasons on why you are still single really crack me up. It will be somehow difficult to see all the things you listed in a single man, the best thing is for you to know your best priority among the things you listed above and soft your pedals on others.

What makes life interesting and worth living are always based on a little compromise; we may desire something earlier in life but as time goes on, when we see that such things are not realizable, is better to choose the most important why others can be let go.

I had a feelings that you didn't really mean all what you typed there sha!!!

It is well....

mikelreal: thanks, if you'd don't mind, can u place a link to your favourite store?
http://www.aliexpress.com/store/914332

Thats my favourite store because they delivered my order to Chrisvicmall within 24 hours.

Make sure you look at the jewelry you are ordering well and if possible show it to some of your prospective customer to tell you their opinion on it.

What I normally do, is to download the picture of the jewelry on my BB and start showing girls to seek their opinion and the kind of price it might worth if imported.

mikelreal: in terms of price, how much is d list amt u advice one 2sell?
Make sure you look at the jewelries you want to order from aliexpress very well before going into it, because:

Firstly, most of their pendants and earrings are always too small and look childish. If you are to buy jewelry set make sure, if possible look for the ones they show you the measurement of the pendants (so that you too can take your ruler with pencil to draw such measurement on paper to see how big it is). Those big pendants and earrings you see there are just photo zooming (this is based on my experience).

Secondly, most of the gold-plated jewelries from aliexpress are too bright which made people to believe that it will wash too quickly, thereby having doubt about the product.

Thirdly, make sure if you are going for gold-plate jewelry sets, look for the one within the price range of $3 to $4 because they wouldnt buy it more than (N1,000 to N1,500) from you in Nigeria. If you go for the jewelry sets of $8 or $10 dont be surprise they will still be pricing it within that range (1k to 1.5k) because jewelry sets in the Nigeria markets are now been sold at that price.

If you are to go for jewelries, I will advice you to order PENDANTS AND EARRINGS as those ones normally comes in bigger sizes and they sell well than jewelry sets. And don't tell people you import from China because even if its quality, they will price it the way you didnt like (they believe China products are fake and also cheap).

Finally, do your market survey well before going into it (don't just go into it because everybody is doing it), so that you wouldnt get your finger burnt.

That is what I have discover so far, since I started the jewelry business. I wish you success in the business.
IslamRe: Muslim Singles, Let Us Have A Talk by Wizeboy(m):
PLEASE LETS TREAT THIS ISSUE:

I think is time we fully deliberate on "THE CHALLENGES OF ISLAMIC DATING IN THE CONTEMPORARY WORLD"

Islam is a complete religion and has laid down rules, guidelines and procedures on how we should look for wife/husband in an Halal way (which to me the best way ever, as this can really safe us from so many evil) BUT how can it be fully follow in the contemporary world considering the fact that if you (Guy/Lady) has pure intention in following it, how are you sure you will find a partner that are willing to follow such procedure.

1. How easy is it to just walk up to a girl Mother/Sister/relation or other people you want to consider as your Maharam to show your intention of marriage to a particular Hajia in this contemporary world without you been looked as a slowpoke or something else (It is not very common to see people that will fully support your action).

2. What about the Hajia (Girl) involved, there is rarely or no girl in Nigeria that will not see you as a MAD PERSON or PLAYER, for you to just walk up to a girl and said WILL YOU MARRY ME?

3. Hardly will you see girls of nowadays that want somebody to suggest husband for them because they believe, they can always choose the best likewise applicable for guys too.

4. Some people are too shy to discuss with each other in the present of external person; how can will the two person involved really have sound communication in the present of Maharam (if they fall into the category of shy people).

5. Finally, it is the desire of every Muslim guy/lady to have a blissful and peaceful marriage thereby trying to know at least a little bit of somebody they want to spend the rest of their life with before entering into such marriage (I don't think I can just enter into any future engagement with anybody without studying the person a little bit, she doesn't have to be PERFECT but at least have some courtesy of what somebody can called A GOOD WIFE as prescribed by the Qur'an and Hadith).

PLEASE LET US START DELIBERATING ON THIS ISSUE AND SOLUTION TO SOME OF THE CHALLENGES, PROPER WAY TO GO ABOUT IT (if any) AND SOLUTIONS.

Is not about what people wrote or said in the past, but the principles and fundamental of Islam.

Even the past words you mentioned can still add value to your life if you follow it wisely; have you forgotten that the scripture you claim to abide with and follow are what people wrote in the past.

BTW: I never believe or celebrate Valentine because to me, I didnt see it as something special. I try as much as possible to show love to everybody around me everyday of the year. Why would I decide to put a day aside to show love when I have the opportunity to show it every second of my life.

In as much as I commend the effort of Stephen Keshi for the performance of Super Eagles at the ongoing AFCON. I dont think he might succeed if he went ahead to coach other country because I can only rate is technical ability as average. Super Eagles performance were boosted by individual player skills in our team.
SportsAFCON: Many Countries Hunt For Keshi’s Signature by Wizeboy(op): 6:32am On Feb 08, 2013
FOLLOWING Stephen Keshi’s insistence that he might not be Super Eagles coach after Sunday’s final of the African Cup of Nations, many countries have swooped on him asking for his signature to take over their national teams.

A highly authoritative source informed that some agents have been bordering the former skipper of the national team to talk him into considering their clients if indeed he refuses to go ahead with his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation.

Though the identities of the countries were not revealed, the source however said that Keshi has refused to commit himself as he reportedly told them he was still on contract with the NFF.

The rush for Keshi’s signature is not unconnected with his statement that he was not sure if he would remain Eagles coach after CAN 2013 since he is a professional coach and would go for the highest bidder.

He made this statement since according to him the Nigerian people seem not to appreciate what he is doing with the team.

But that had changed since his team woke up from their slumber and performed excellently against bookmaker’s choice, Cote d’Ivoire. Nigerians in South Africa have been singing Keshi’s praise and his Eagles to high heavens.

The Nigeria Football Federation which had supported Keshi financially and morally are yet to react to Keshi’s threat of jumping the ship.

Based on what I have observed about chrisvicmall chat, you can easily chat with them between 12 to 3pm in the afternoon (they would have been around 7pm to 10pm in China). ELENA told me today that she is always out in the afternoon to pick up customers product. So, is when they are back in d evening they open their chat platform sometimes.

My advice for you is to go to their CONTACT US page to copy their China phone number (especially the one that ended with 181) to call them anytime you send them mail for quick response to your mail (the cost of calling is not much - anytime I used about 4 mins on phone with them, I am always been charged around N90 by Airtel).

Goodluck.

Tenx to u guys here. u rock!
Though, this had been treated exclusively on the previous thread.

Chrisvicmall doesnt charge for shopping on your behalf; all you have to do, is to send them (Chrisvicmall) the link of the product you want to buy on aliexpress for them to buy it and send it to Lagos Airport. Their charges are $10 for processing fee and $13 dollars per kg for the shipping of the product you buy. I believe their shipping cost is somehow lesser compare with other options available on aliexpress. Goodluck.

afrokid: I sent chrisvicmall an e-mail on sunday, up till now I haven't gotten any response. It will be too bad if this is how they act because prospective customers like me cannot take risk in doing transactions with firms that don't communicate
I think you should go to their website www.chrisvicmall.com to chat with them in order to get quick response to your question. Response from them through email as always been found wanting.

I complain bitterly about this to ELENA when we communicate earlier today and she promised that there will be an improvement in their communication after the spring festival vacation. The good news is that ELENA has also promised to join Nairaland and attend to so many questions and complaints arising from this forum (as I told her that her attention is seriously needed on this forum).

I am saying this because I have been dealing with them in importing my goods from aliexpress. I was surprise with the way my order of Tuesday 5th February was fast-track and she had even confirm that my product is already with them and will be ship tomorrow. Once you know how to deal with them, you wouldn't have any problem.

991: if that be the case, then why bring topics like this on the front page? don't you think the topic is exposed to abuse? or do the Op intentionally want to get people banned?
Who told you is Muslim that create the topic or bring it to the front page? That is what I am saying, Christian folks should try to be tolerance. This topic is part of the intolerance I am really saying about your Christian folks on Nairaland (is Christian that created the topic, check well).

^^^The message in bold is what you see before you post on this topic/thread.

The irony is very clear. There are good muslims, however some other muslims need to learn tolerance
If you must be very sincere to yourself, based on what have been going on, on Nairaland when it comes to religious issue; who should be more tolerance between the christians folks and Muslims. May be you should try to look at Islam for Muslims thread to see many abuses by your Christians folks.

All I can say is that, I really do appreciate the decorum and maturity majority of the Muslims on Nairaland normally put forward when it comes to issue like this. Almighty God will continue to give us the heart to tolerate the more and more.

Blackteeth: As Islamic terrorist and the likes of boko haram keep causing more havoc worldwide, it makes it more difficult for the most educated and sane non muslims to hang on to the fair notion that all Muslims are not terrorists. These Islamic terrorists can be frustrating enough to make one lose his senses and decide that every Muslim is a terrorist.

I used to be part of those who believe that there are good Muslims out there, and al Qaeda and the rest Islamic terrorists are only a few who are tarnishing the image of Islam, but recently I had to change my mind to start believing that 80% of Muslims are direct or indirect jihadists. Few Muslims may be doing the attacks and bombings, but after you must have added those who secretly sympathize with them the figures will change.

If actually there are good Muslims out there, why dont they find it necessary to fight the jihadists to clean and save their religion from the bad name it has gotten? Instead they relax and do nothing. The good Muslims are they ones who should be actively fighting Islamic extremists and not the west doing it. This would make us non Muslims believe that there are indeed good Muslims, and Islam is a religion of peace but was only hijacked by a few extremists.

As long as the so-called good Muslims are doing nothing about their brothers killing innocent people, it shows they are probably secret sympathizers.
I am sorry to say this, your assumption is baseless. How do you expect the good Muslims to fight the terrorist? With bare hands or what? What good Muslims can only do, is to condemn in totality the activities of this people, which they always do but Newspapers will never report such condemnation but rather carrying fake news all about (do you know how many times Sultan of Sokoto and other prominent leaders has condemned this sect openly?).

Now, I am a Good Muslim, do you expect me to travel to up North and started fighting the Boko haram when I am not an Army, Police or belong to any military or para-military formation. Is that not SUICIDAL?

Try as much as possible to be truthful, sincere, delete any form of bigots and hatred on your mind towards Islam; you will definitely see as many Good Muslims around you as ever.

Juma'ah Mubarak,

Almighty Allah will always guide us to the right path. The path of those on whom HE has bestowed HIS Grace, Mercy, Favour and Blessings, NOT (the way) of those who earned HIS Anger nor of those who went astray.
