Year: 1965

First project in Nigeria:

Through a capital grant agreement between West Germany and Nigeria, Julius Berger undertook the construction of the Eko Bridge in Lagos in 1965:

Notice the badly-beaten construction truck used by Julius Berger in 1965 compared to their new trucks of today tells you that every business started from somewhere......

Then Africa’s longest concrete bridge and the first of its kind, the pioneering design, high quality and timely completion set standards against which Julius Berger is still measured today.

[s]It really amaze me how you guys forget that Lagos state has been Nigeria’s capital for years [/s]
Point of correction!

Lagos Island was the administrative capital of Nigeria NOT Lagos State.

Take note of this fact. Lagos State is NOT the same as Lagos Island which was the administrative capital of the British from 1914 to 1960 when they left. Even the British clearly stated that Lagos Island is Yorubaland. Lugard didn't want Lagos Island to be the capital in 1914 but KADUNA because he said Lagos Island was too small, it was inhabited by indigenes, and the weather was enervating or humid.
In 1991 the new administrative capital moved from Lagos Island to Abuja.

Mcslize:
You've just said absolutely nothing less but the simple bitter truth.

I have never supported the idea of a man working his ass out simply for the sole purpose of attracting women.

If you're a young man doing that, permit me to tell you for free, you lack purpose.

Work hard for yourself and immediate family not because of a woman.

Do know that, if you make money before you find love, be rest assured, it's your money most ladies will marry not you. You won't feel that genuine love from a partner as a man. You will always feel left out in the world of true love.

Remove the money and see how fast she will leave you, heavily abuse you and start following other rich men outside. Just know you just succeeded marrying a gold digger and a hoe as a young man.

Guys, be wise. Don't let anyone fool you. The best time to find the love of your life is when you have nothing. If you must find one after you've made it, make it a paramount standard that she too must be a made lady herself.

With that, you will have the rest of mind that she didn't come for your money cuz she too is made for life.

If you are made already but still haven't settled down? Better look for a lady that is made too to balance things up. Going for a liability after you are made, is not a wise decision. Do you know why?

Most of these ladies do set standards for men, like "He must be tall". "He must be wealthy". If ladies that are liabilities can boldly set standards such as "I want a tall guy, fair in complexion and must be very wealthy", why can't our men of this generation also set standards for the women they will marry?

Don't let anyone fool you. You're the prize as a man. Set standards for the type of woman you will like to marry so you won't end up marrying wrongly or marrying a chronic gold digger after you've suffered to make it in life.

Be wise and be warned!

That being said, guys, do you know there are some highly curious facts that many of us are still yet to know about sex? Watch these extremely shocking psychological facts about sex that will blow your mind. No 40 will shock you! https://youtu./Vz38eM4lIg0

Actually, most guys wont eventually marry virgins, but if you dont see a virgin, kindly go for surrogacy.

Conntract marriage or cohabitation is also cool whereby the bills is shared 50:50, you can get a housemaid for the housechores..

Your commitment is too precious for a non-virgin...

See, that advice;make money and women will come would be apt if, after becoming rich, the women that will come are virgins.

And when they understand that the guys who took these women purity where in the very same state they thought they had to grow from to attract them, these men become bitter. They feel scammed. And rightly so. Unfortunately, this frustration can lead to hatred and violence. And this is not good for men themselves and society as a whole.

Succeed for you and your legacy first and foremost. And when, you do succeed be ruthless in your selection of women.

No amount of money protects you from the games women play. No amount of money can compensate for lack of attraction.

As these men are busy building, most women are busy fvcking.

Thank you oops.
Personally I believe that when you marry a lady that was disvirgined by another man, it is dishonor to your dignity, pride and Ego as a man. I can never love such lady. Imagine how they share unclothedness, the sweat, sperm, kisses, positions, etc tweeeeeh! I cringe, and the society makes it look like no big deal! Let every man marry ladies they disvirgined. Kipaji:
"Make Money and Women Will Come"

Society and women tell this to men who are unsuccessful in dating to give them some hope. The idea is that they should not worry, they should just work harder and generate wealth. When they get money women will beg them to be their girlfriends and wives.

But, if women will come when you make the money, have you ever wondered where they are now? Let's assume that they will effectively be with you later, after you become rich. OK now, in the meantime, who are they with? Are they sitting at home, chastely waiting for you to make money? Are they working on themselves while preserving their purity to deserve you when you finally make it?

No. Where are they then? They are with other guys they judge worthy of their youth and freshness. And you are not on the list. So, you have to wait. And to not let you hanging, they give you the task to accumulate the wealth they will enjoy after the other guys have enjoyed their bodies.

See, that advice (make money and women will come) would be apt if, after becoming rich, the women that will come are virgins. But, they are not. Who took their virginity then? A guy who was just as broke as you were when girls and society told you to make money first. This advice is thus hypocritical... but also dangerous.

Many young men unsuccessful in dating will follow this advice. They will work very hard at school, at work, and in life to finally be able to attract women (among other reasons.) Eventually many of them make it. After all these painful years of work, it is high time to harvest the rewards: money, respect, security, stability, confidence, wisdom, -oh and, what did they say will come with financial success again? Ah yes, women! But, as they look left and right, they realize that most women are damaged beyond repair, many are single mothers, and virtually none of them are pure. And when they understand that the guys who took these women purity where in the very same state they thought they had to grow from to attract them, these men become bitter. They feel scammed. And rightly so. Unfortunately, this frustration can lead to hatred and violence. And this is not good for men themselves and society as a whole.

This is one of the reasons why a man should not succeed for women. Succeed for you and your legacy first and foremost. And when you do succeed, be ruthless in your selection of women.

When dealing with women, never lean on your money. That is dehumanizing as money is an object and, more importantly, it is external to you -- you are not your money. Money can come and go, but your inner strength and masculinity stays. And keep in mind that no amount of money entitles you to a woman's body. No amount of money protects you from the games women play. No amount of money can compensate for lack of attraction.

Men and women should stop giving this advice to our sons. We must encourage them by all means to generate wealth and succeed in life. But let's not fool them with "women will come", without telling them the full story. As these men are busy building, most women are busy fvcking.

lavylilly:
A NOTE TO YOUNG MEN.

This content is not for everyone.

Firstly, I'm directing this content to young men who are not married and trying to figure out their lives.

Secondly, I am directing this content to those young men who would agree that they need to hear this.

One way to distract yourself from fixing your life and falling into distractions is by falling in love easily.

A guy that hasn't found himself in life but easily falls in love with women is probably a danger to himself.

It pains me when I see young men who have not defined their lives getting themselves entangled in a love relationship.

You are struggling like hell, nothing productive you are doing but you're busy dating ladies up and down.

Where is the energy?

Like I said, this content is not for everyone.

I am speaking directly to my male gender.

Dear brother...

Leave women alone and go figure out your life.

I am not saying "you must be rich first."

No. No. No.

But you must at least have some direction or focus for your life before you start adding women into it.

Stop carrying someone's daughter and adding to your confusion. Take a break and go fix you, first.

One of the most distracting activities for any man that is fledgling is falling in love with women easily.

Love is emotionally demanding.

When a man falls in love, the lady becomes his distractions. For example, my wife is my distraction.

But because I operate from the place of solidity, I can accommodate the distraction and love her well.

Ladies, don't get angry here.

This is not about you. This is about speaking hard truths to my fellow brothers to save themselves first.

When my life was a big mess, one tough decision I made was to suspend any form of love relationship.

I didn't date any lady for close to 5 years because I needed to concentrate all my energy on fixing me.

So by the time my wife came, she met a focused man.

She met a man that she could trust to lead her because she could tell he was already leading himself.

Listen guys, you might not agree with me.

That's fine.

Don't copy me but reflect on the principle here.

Yes, I know that there are guys who lack direction for their lives and a lady comes and gives them direction.
grin grin grin

But those guys are mostly seen in Nollywood movies.

In real life, they are few and far between.

So listen...

You have a better chance of fixing your life first and falling in love, than waiting for a lady to come fix it for you.

I guess that's what you get when you wanted the best of both worlds, to eat your cake and have it.

You wanted to save money. You paid the price for the savings.

I did legal change of name and wanted a new passport. Called the contact at NIS Abuja, wired him the info and 200k. He gave me appointment for capturing. When I arrived, he took me straight to the spot and, though someone else was being captured, I waited in a well air-conditioned room for no more than 5-7mins. I didn't even jam face with all the other citizens waiting and sweating in the general waiting room. Captured afterward and still made it back in time to the restaurant where I had ordered lunch and my food was served just as I arrived.

Money answereth all things, dear.
Politics › Re: My Recent Experience At The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) by XAUBulls: 2:56pm On Jan 11, 2023
Sweetplum:
Last week Wednesday, I went to the immigration office (state withheld) to renew my passport. I wanted to do it in Abuja but the fee was so high. So I ported to another state. I connected with an officer who's a church member that worked in another state. I paid N40K. I v applied since Nov 16th 2022 but did my capturing on the 4th of January. I arrived at exactly 7:55am despite that the official time on my slip for my capturing was 12:00pm. I did this cos I know Nigeria has huge population and anywhere that registration is taking place is always filled with people if you don't come early. Around 8:05am, we were allowed to go into the secretariat and take out seats in a hall that looked like a university lecture theatre. We were addressed by the PRO of that state and some officers on how we ll be called for capturing based in our number tags. However, what fascinated me where listed below:

* The Handsome & Polite PRO:
That state's NIS PRO was a young man in his late 30s or early 40s. He wore native buba and sokoto dress, nice haircut, smell nice and easy so cute. He spoke sofly, eloquent and maintained eye contact with over 300 of us that are passport applicants. But the man shocked us when he mentioned that the state has only two computers for data capturing. As in a whole state's immigration office/secretariat having just two computers?

* They had two computer systems for capturing 100s of people daily: * Yes. Just two computers o and they said they v told FG severally but that's what was allocated to them. The minister of interior Rauf Aregbesola, how can a state posses just two computers for capturing large number of people. No wonder there's delay in collecting passports.

*Favouritism: The PRO said he ll not allow favouritism but later said if he receives calls from superior officers, he has no choice but to obey. However, considerations ll be given to disabled, kids and aged people. I thought he was very sincere until I left the place around 7:30pm that day cos I wasn't captured earlier due to favouritism and connections. Some people came to capture and they were not on queue. Infact, they just call whoever they know and the officers go outside to bring them in or direct them in. I was given number 106. So I wondered how I wasn't captured in time and a lot of people that were not with us in the morning were going for capturing. Who dem sabi?

* Officers Coming From Rear Door To Call Their Candidates or Clients They Helped To Register: This happened when we were still in the hall, getting our tags. Some officers ll come and pick their clients and take them in directly for their registration, capturing etc. As in the connection was annoying. Shey dem no sabi follow protocols?

* Only Two Toilets That's Looking Average But Smell So Bad: Their toilet lacked deodorants to decontaminate foul odours. I wanted to ease myself but had to hold it till I got back home cos I can't risk toilet infections.
For a state's immigration office to v two toilets is abysmal. I hope it's not so for other states or we v states with poorer facilities. Nigeria I hail thee.

* Peeled & Old Paint On The Building:
The painting of the building look so old and it's like they painted it since 10 years ago. No where in the secretariat or office look new. Not even their furniture.

In conclusion, the immigration need to do a check on all states that has poor or inadequate facilities and help them to refurbish them. Our profile as a nation is too big for us to v airports with poor facilities and now immigration offices with poor facilities.
Mentioning the location of this immigration office would have been better for targeted focus by the Federal authority. Each immigration office would have specific needs not found in other office locations.

This is a good one. I live in the heart of Uyo three years. Where I reside has steady light since we are on a prepaid network. I use broadband internet as there are companies that render wifi to home services here.
I will say life here is more affordable than Lagos and since you say you work online, you would not have to mind that good office jobs are scarce here.
I am planning on relocating from here abroad though. My major draw back is selling off all my many properties. If you choose Uyo and do not have properties, I wouldn't mind doing a rent and property transfer.
By the way, I am inspired by your post. I am in my early thirties and I sometimes get depressed about where I am at right now. Somehow, knowing that someone older than me is optimistic about life in general gives hope.

Hi

I want to leave Lagos in the new year. I'm tired of the stress, high cost of everything and chaos.
The problem is I can't really make up my mind on where to go, what city is best for me and my business, my life and needs, therefore i opened this thread to seek advice from people who live or have been to these areas i have in mind to relocate to.

My opinions are...

1. Enugu
2. Uyo *(Akwa Ibom)
3. Calabar (Cross Rivers)
4. Port Harcourt

I'm an Igbo guy from Imo state. I work online so can move anywhere as long as i see good light and fast internet.
And something else... I'm kind of a late bloomer in life. Things no enter for me early so I'm still single at 40. But I earn well now, thanks to God, and so I'm seriously searching for a nice lady to settle down with. A city with lots of marriageable single girls around (even semi-educated one who are generally more humble) is high on my priority list.

The city I have in mind as the best fit is Enugu but due to insecurity in the SE I'm open to other opinions.

Please advice me based on your experence.
