The Director-General, Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazaure, has condoled with the family of the 13th Chief Executive of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Yusuf Bomoi, who died yesterday following a brief illness.

Speaking when he led the NYSC Management team as well as other officers and Corps members to the deceased’s family in Abuja, Kazaure eulogized him; saying that he would be remembered for the footprints he left in the NYSC, which he headed as Director-General from October 2004 to January 2009.

He described General Bomoi’s death as a great loss not only to the immediate family, but also the NYSC family and the rest of the nation.

The Director-General prayed Allah to grant him eternal rest and comfort his family.

He also handed a condolence letter to the wife of the deceased. It reads in part:

“His pragmatic and inclusive leadership style, sense of innovation and very compassionate disposition endeared him to the hearts of all and cemented his place in the history of the scheme.

“Although General Bomoi’s transition left a big vacuum that will be difficult to fill, we are consoled by his exemplary life of service to God and humanity.”

Prayers were offered during the visit for the repose of the departed soul.

Speaking later in an interview with newsmen, Kazaure described General Bomoi as one of the best Chief Executives that had headed the NYSC Scheme.

Phones / Substandard Phone Causes Cancer – NCC Warns by Yarnvibes(f): 7:35am On Sep 01, 2017
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), has warned Nigerians against using substandard phones.

It said such was responsible for some of the cancer ailments being suffered by the citizens.

The regulatory body also identified unapproved phones as a major cause of network interruptions, which it said were also having negative implications on health of users.

Addressing phone sellers on Thursday at Fayose Market in Ado Ekiti during a stakeholders’ sensitization workshop, an official of the NCC, Engr. Kunle Olorundare lamented that fake phones had taken over the country’s markets.

At the workshop organized by Ibadan zonal office of the NCC, Olorundare said the preponderance of substandard phones was causing colossal damage to network services and health of users.

Olorundare warned that sellers of unapproved ICT products were flouting the NCC act and could face prosecution or seizure of their market items if they did not desist from selling such.

He advised the phone sellers to ensure the phones they buy from manufacturers and dealers were approved by the NCC.

Another official of the NCC, who represented the Head of Zonal Operations in Abuja, Mr. Ekisola Oladosu, frowned on the proliferation of substandard phones and other ICT products in the country.

Oladosu promised that NCC would do all within its powers to check the situation, noting that the task of sanitising the Nigerian phone market hangs on all stakeholders.

The President, Fayose Market Traders’ Association, Mr. Kehinde Badmus, praised the NCC for the enlightenment seminar, assuring that the Association would cooperate with the commission to achieve its goals.

Education / ASUU Strike: Osinbajo’s Aide Denies Vice-president Has Taken Over Negotiations by Yarnvibes(f): 7:27am On Sep 01, 2017
Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, has dismissed reports that his boss will head the Federal Government’s negotiation team, who would meet with the representatives of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and put an end to the strike.

Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, was said to have confirmed this development after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting earlier this week.

However, Akande has debunked the reports, saying it is false.

“News reports that VP Osinbajo has taken over ASUU negotiations is untrue and inaccurate. Labour and Education Ministers continue to lead the talks,” he wrote on Twitter.

ASUU had said they were still waiting to hear from government on their requests .

The union’s president, Abiodun Ogunyemi, said they were not aware of the take over of the government team by Osinbajo.

Islam for Muslims / 2017 Hajj: Saudi Arabia Bans 400,000 Intending Pilgrims From Entering Mecca by Yarnvibes(f): 9:07am On Aug 30, 2017
The authorities of Saudi Arabia said no fewer than 400,000 illegal intending pilgrims have been banned from entering the Holy land of Muslims, Mecca for not having Hajj permits.

According to Saudi Press Agency, this was highlighted by the interior ministry during a news conference on Hajj security plans, designed to accommodate more than two million pilgrims expected to perform this year’s Hajj rites.

The authorities however noted that they have taken serious steps, including fine and jail terms against violators to ensure smooth Hajj operation for the pilgrims.

Spokesperson of Saudi Interior Ministry, Mansour Turki disclosed that the security services had dismantled a number of militant cells in Mecca and Medina over the past few years.

He noted that strict measures were in place at the entrances to Mecca, Medina and other holy sites as well as airports and seaports.

“So, we do not overlook the reality of such potential threats and we take all necessary preventative measures,’’ he said.

Turki said that the security forces had taken all necessary measures to prevent a stampede like the one that killed hundreds of pilgrims in 2015, without providing details.

He also urged pilgrims to abide by their assigned schedule for performing the sacred rituals.

“Each group must abide by the specified paths assigned to them while throwing the jamarat,” he said, referring to one of the critical stages of Hajj when pilgrims conduct the ritual stoning.

Properties / CBN Reveals How Nigerians Can Own A New Home, Pay Within 25 Years by Yarnvibes(f): 8:04am On Aug 28, 2017
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is spearheading a new scheme targeted at providing improved access to housing finance to aspiring homeowners.

The initiative would have a tenor of 15 years to 25 years, depending on the age of the borrower, their income and desired tenor and would be available to eligible applicants with insufficient or no equity contribution.

The scheme, known as My Own Home, is also expected to provide awareness, education and practical tips to assist prospective homeowners in need of long-term housing finance.

The public-private partnership project is backed by the World Bank, Federal Ministry of Finance, Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, Federal Ministry of Justice, Mortgage Banking Association of Nigeria, as well as primary mortgage banks through equity in the Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company.

CBN’s Housing and Mortgage Finance Consultant on the Nigeria Housing Finance Programme, Mrs. Adenike Fasanya-Osilaja, explained that the initiative would provide mortgages, mortgage guarantee and insurance as well as housing microfinance to every Nigerian in need of a home.

“Every Nigerian has a right to own a home through mortgage. There seems to be a fear of taking mortgages but this programme seeks to dispel the style of building block by block.

“Nigerians should go to their banks and ask questions because this is a scheme to help every Nigerian who needs a home,” Fasanya-Osilaja said.

According to her, the initiative will provide housing finance to Nigerians who are up to the age of 21 and meet the borrowing requirements of a mortgage originating bank or a housing microfinance bank.

She however noted that the scheme would not provide ready-made houses but was designed to jumpstart the housing finance market.

“Once it starts, the banks will take over to give loans, which will help aspiring homeowners. All they need to do is ask participating mortgage originating banks or housing finance institutions for requirements to participate”.

“It is an industry-driven programme and the industry will remain the same irrespective of government and political parties in power. The scheme does not have its base in social housing and so sustainability is assured; it does not discriminate on the basis of income.

“If you are able to pay your rent, then, you can subscribe to the scheme. It is a paradigm shift for homeownership in Nigeria and we will spread the initiative to all parts of the country.”

Education / ASUU’s Demands Unrealistic – Oby Ezekwesili by Yarnvibes(f): 2:37pm On Aug 20, 2017
A former Minister of Education, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, on Sunday said that the demands by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) were unrealistic in light of the current economic situation in Nigeria.

Ezekwesili said this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan while reacting to the ongoing strike embarked upon by the union.

The former minster said that lasting solution to the crisis bedevilling the education sector could only be found from strong analysis of the issues raised by ASUU and evidenced based policies.

“Money is not limitless and yet everyone must acknowledge that investment in education is crucial and it is key.

“There are, however, some fundamental reforms that the sector needs in order to ensure that it is not about the size of the funding but about the productivity of the funding.

“You cannot simply express a desire, it must be founded on reality and that means you must know what can be achieved within a given period,” she said.

According to her, a structural and policy change which allows public and private investments should be integrated into the university system.

“If you remember, the ASUU negotiation started in 2007 when I was the Minister of Education and we constituted a government negotiation team, led by the late Gamaliel Onosode,

“Even though that period was short, one of the major issues for me was for us to make sure that we were being evidenced based in the way we were solving the problem,

“We considered issues like the existing model in countries similar to us in emerging economies,’’ she said.

The former minister said the team also considered what could be done by the public and private sectors about university funding among others.

“Those are the kinds of evidence that we had and on the basis of which we hinged our negotiation at that time,

“It was a very short period and then we had to leave and the next government that took over had to continue.

“I do not know the basis of the final agreement they reached with ASSUU, but if it was not anchored on analytical evidence, I am not surprised that there has been inability to implement it.”

Ezekwesili urged both the Federal Government and ASUU to return to the negotiating table and work on the basis of analysis and evidence to find lasting solution to the dispute.

NAN reports that ASUU on Aug. 14, embarked on an indefinite strike to press home its demands for the implementation of an agreement signed between it and the Federal Government on condition of service.

ASUU is also asking for increased funding of university, autonomy of the institution and academic freedom.

Education / JAMB Delists Management Courses In Seven Universities by Yarnvibes(f): 12:38pm On Aug 20, 2017
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has delisted management courses of some universities in its current admission brochure.

They are Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Modibbo Adamawa Federal University of Technology, Yola (MAUTY), Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) and University of Agriculture, Makurdi (UAW).

This is sequel to an order by the federal government that the universities of Agriculture and Technology should stop running management courses and focus on their core mandates.

The directive was issued by the Ministry of Education after it was approved recently by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, explained that the decision to delist the programmes was not taken by the Board as being suggested by the some staff and students of the universities affected.

“It was a ministerial decision based on FEC meeting and as an agency of government, we are to implement government decisions.,” he told Sun.

“So, in the concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the concerned institutions did not field candidates.”

Meanwhile, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the House Committee on Tertiary Education have queried the directive.

Reacting, ASUU FUNAAB chairman, Dr. Adebayo Oni, said the national body of the union was aware of the government decision but noted that it was done without proper consultation with affected universities and stakeholders.

He said: “FUNAAB branch took the issue to our zonal branch meeting which reported same at the national level. The delisting of the programme was done in haste and it is illegal by JAMB.

“The courses were accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and relevant bodies. University vice-chancellors were not carried along.”

Politics / 2019: Why PDP Is Yet To Endorse Fayose For President – Makarfi by Yarnvibes(f): 8:03am On Aug 20, 2017
The Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi has explained why the part is yet to endorse Governor Ayodele Fayose’s presidential ambition.

Fabinfos.com reports that Fayose stole the show few weeks ago when he stormed the PDP non-elective convention in Abuja with his campaign posters.

But speaking with the Punch, Makarfi said the party would only decide who to support during its next elective convention.

He said, “There were many people at the convention who indicated their political interests at the convention. It was not only Fayose. There were two other former governors who had posters about their bids. The convention was not elective and has nothing to do with the endorsement of anybody.

“There were also posters of those eyeing governorship and other positions. Would you say they were also endorsed? A convention is like a merrymaking ground where supporters come in to show their support.”

On the leadership tussle with his rival, Ali Modu Sheriff, the party leader said he bears no grudges against Sheriff.

Makarfi, a former governor of Kaduna State said the party wont expel Sheriff except he wants to leave on his own.

He added, “It is not up to us for him to remain here. It is his choice. Many people, who are his supporters, were at the convention. They participated in various committees at the convention. Individuals will make their personal decision.

“We’ll, to say I have been vindicated is an understatement. I am happy and I believe so is every Nigeria. There will be surely celebration in the home of every Nigeria today,” he said.

Asked if there will be any party to welcome the president, Mohammed jokingly said, “I heard the NTA is organizing a party and we will join you guys to celebrate.”

Education / ASUU: Strike Continues – Nigerian Lecturers by Yarnvibes(f): 9:07am On Aug 19, 2017
The Academic Staff Union of Universities has affirmed that its ongoing strike continues.

The union said it will not call it off until its demands to the government were met.

Recall that ASUU had on Sunday announced a nationwide strike, over failure of the Federal Government to implement the 2009 agreement between the two parties.

But the President of ASUU, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, while speaking with Punch during the week noted that members of the union would not return to the class if the demands it had itemised to the government last November were not implemented.

Ogunyemi said the strike would end “when the government is ready to do the right thing as we spelt out during our engagement with the government at the National Assembly in November last year.

“The least has been defined. In November last year, when we went to the National Assembly, the issues were itemised, seven, eight of them. The government was expected to have followed that pathway, to follow what I would call the action plan for resolving the matter.

“But for deviating from the action plan, the government exposed itself to the suspicion that it didn’t mean well. If it meant well, it must go back to that plan and from there, we address the issues.

“The government has defined the process for addressing the problem; it just needs to go back to it. It is because it didn’t act on the understanding, that is why we are back to where we are. This action was needless; it is like we were forced into it. Implementation must commence and the implementation we are talking about is not the issue of renegotiation.”

Speaking on some of the agreements, Ogunyemi noted that government had reneged on a 2013 agreement to revitalise universities with N1.3tn over a period of six years.

“The first year, the government was to release N200bn, which it did, but it took a long time for us to access it. But since that release in 2013, no single kobo has been released thereafter.

“For 2014, N220bn was not released. Again 2015 and 2016, nothing was released up to the third quarter of 2017. In all, we can estimate the outstanding amount to be about N825bn for revitalisation of our universities,” he said.

“In the last two years, what has been allocated to education in the budget is between six and seven per cent. Even in countries where they had wars like Rwanda and Sudan, they are still allocating well above 20 per cent to education. Our citizens are rushing to Ghana, most universities there are public universities,” he said.

Education / ASUU Strike: Prostitution Will Increase Among Female Students– Sex Workers To FG by Yarnvibes(f): 7:40am On Aug 19, 2017
The Nigerian Sex Workers Association says the ongoing strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, which has led to the closure of public universities, will increase prostitution among female students.

The national coordinator of the association, Amaka Enemo, said this during an interview with our correspondent on Friday.

Enemo said, even without the strike, many female students had been engaging in ‘runs’, a euphemism for offering sex for cash or other valuables.

She said if the strike was not called off soon, idle students would embrace sex work.

Enemo said, “Even without the strike, a lot of the students were doing ‘runs’, which is exchanging money for sex. But with the strike, just like a holiday, the rate of sex work will double.

“In this job, strike or holiday period is like a peak period. So, I urge them to stay safe because we cannot kick them off the streets. They should be safe and use condoms.

“The government needs to ensure that the strike is called off because if the students are left idle due to the closure of schools, it means the government is indirectly telling them to go to the streets.”

Education / ASUU: FG Set To Release N23bn To University Lecturers – Education Minister by Yarnvibes(f): 11:36am On Aug 18, 2017
Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, has said that arrangement has been made by the federal government for the release of N23 billion to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Speaking before the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND, led by Senator Jibrin Barau, the Minister disclosed that the executive arm of government had commenced plans to ensure that it honoured the agreement with ASUU.

The Minister disclosed that the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, had already approved a total N53bn for the union so far, adding that the balance of N23bn would be released on Monday when the striking lecturers would receive the cheque.

He said: “ASUU asked for N23billion to be paid, but we said the condition for getting the N23billion was for them to account for the N30billion they had taken and they were not able to account for it.

“The Minister of Finance undertook to do the audit from the ministry and we agreed that the result will be known six months. During those six months, government undertook to be paying ASUU N1.5billion each month during the time they were waiting for this.

‘’However, their grouse was that the forensic audit promised by the Minister of Finance had not been done and the money promised not paid.

“So, at our meeting two days ago, the agreement was to pay them all and do forensic audit on the entire N53billion.

“That was what I tried to do yesterday (Wednesday). I wrote to the Minister of Finance and she has already approved and this money will be paid. Probably, by Monday, they will be able to receive the cheque.

“We didn’t agree with ASUU on their request that TSA should be taken out. I told them that it is not possible because it is a new policy and government is not going to change it for anyone.

“Concerning their salary short fall, we said the reason springs from universities employing people without proper authority.

“For instance, a university can just decide to go and recruit 50 people without notifying IPPIS. So, what they are going to get is the money they got last month, which will not be sufficient for them. We have told them that institutions should, henceforth, stop doing that and they accepted.

“There is the issue of registration of their pension commission. I think they have one or two issues to iron out with PENCOM and I believe they will also be able to solve the problem within a week.

“The issue of renegotiation is already ongoing, which will not affect what we have said. I have already written a letter formalizing the meeting and all the agreements we had with ASUU and gave them the letter yesterday.

“From the way they received it, I think it is possible that the strike will be called off within a week maximum.”

Chairman of the Committee, Senator Jibrin Barau, commended the Minister for his efforts towards ensuring that the situation was resolved and the strike called off.

Politics / ASUU Strike: How Nigerian Government Got It Wrong – Obasanjo by Yarnvibes(f): 8:27am On Aug 18, 2017
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Thursday spoke on the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

He blamed the then government of late president Umaru Musa Yar’Adua for agreeing to certain demands made by ASUU.

Speaking at a book launch in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, Obasanjo noted that the administration should not have allowed itself to be stampeded into signing agreements without full consultations.

“Government allows itself to be stampeded into signing agreement particularly when one group or the other withdraws their service and go on strike.

“After the agreement has been signed, without full consultation within government, and implementation becomes an issue.

“But an agreement is an agreement whoever the agent is that signed that agreement on your behalf, you are bound by it.

“You may now have to renegotiate to have a new agreement but the agreement earlier signed remains an agreement.

“The universities teachers go on strike, there is an agreement; doctors go on strike, there will be a special agreement.

“And when the universities teachers see that the agreement reached with the doctors is different from theirs, they again go on strike and this is bad for our economy,” he added.

Education / Ladoke Akinola University Incessant Strike Turns Student To Soap Manufacturer by Yarnvibes(f): 7:41am On Aug 18, 2017
The Incessant strike at the Ladoke Akintola University Of Technology, Ogbomoso has become blessing in disguise for a 300 n-level Mechanical Engineering student of the university – Olutoba Olayiwola as he has become a soap manufacturer.

Olayiwola, whom our reporter came across on Thursday in the Osogbo metropolis said the frustration and danger inherent in staying idle at home for months prompted him to think outside the box and went into manufacturing of dish washing soap.

According to him, the first phase of the strike, which spanned a period of 9 months from June 13, 2016 till February 20, 2017 compelled him to start a thorough research for the technique of soap-making.

“I have learnt through my experience of life that learning does not end up in classroom, one must learn squarely, this is the mindset that propelled me to learn the science of soap-making when academic activities came to a halt on our campus due to incessant strike.

“You know, I believe government and other stakeholders in the education sector do not know the serious danger embedded in idleness, especially for energetic youths like us, it exposes and pushes young people to all sorts of social vices, it is simply catastrophic.

“It is against this backdrop that I devised means of making good use of my precious time, and prepare my self for a better future, I believe my life must not be blindly tied to a frustrating system.

The 9-month of stay-at-home order by our lecturers, between June 2016 and February 2017 afforded me the opportunity to embark on comprehensive research to acquire a distinct knowledge of soap-making at a research firm in Ibadan.

“Upon resumption in February this year, after spending 9 months at home, and with satisfactory knowledge of soap-making, I stumbled on a motivational book, titled” Rich Dad, Poor Dad, written by Robert T. Kiyosaki.

“Obviously, reading this book marked a turning point in my life, it ignited a profound zeal of entrepreneurship in me, which I transformed into reality during the on-going phase of strike that kick started on May 6”, Olayiwola stressed.

He described his product as distinctly creative, with addition of new adhesive like Aloe-vera.

“My product, which I called “Full Moon” is specifically conceptualised to give different feelings to dish washing soap,as it comes with Aloe-vera.

Olayiwola, however called on government to help and encourage indigenous manufacturing firms to grow, in order to strengthen the real sector of Nigerian economy, as he enjoined youths to be creative.

Politics / Ekiti 2018: Why I Am Seeking Re-election – Segun Oni by Yarnvibes(f): 6:48am On Aug 18, 2017
Chief Segun Oni, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, says his re-election bid is a redemption mission.

He urged every progressive-minded person to be a partaker.

Oni, a former Governor of Ekiti State, is currently seeking nomination by the APC to contest the 2018 governorship election in the state.

Oni, who is also the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the APC, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Ado-Ekiti.

He said: “My re-election as governor of the state is on a mission of redemption and I urge everyone who sees himself as a progressive to join the train and be a partaker.

“And for those who are yet to fathom how it will manifest, I will advise that they should be patient and be watchful because this is an assignment God has perfected and which no one can undo.

“Blackmail can’t undo it. Let’s work together and face the task ahead to free the state from the stranglehold of its captors.

“It is still strange to me that some people in APC believe that just any aspirant would do.

“The correct position is that Ekiti State is hugely populated by residents of voting age and when we employ strategic thinking and approach, our party would regain power in the state.

“We have a very good opportunity this time around and we must work together to get to our Uhuru.

“Enough of anonymous newsletters and pamphleteering to disparage my person.

“If they are yet to come to terms with the reality, with all intents and purposes I will be the next governor of Ekiti State by God’s grace.

“Today, the popular candidate wins election, most especially in this our Ekiti.

“The people can now see clearly and think wisely to decide who they want as their governor. Today, the electorate votes for one with the best name, integrity and image.”

The former governor, however, queried attacks on his person, but was quick to add: “He, who has head, must surely feel the pain of headache.

“I am a factor in the APC; I’m not surprised at the daily attacks on my person. You cannot be the leading aspirant and expect not to be attacked.”

NAN recalls that Oni was governor in Ekiti State between May 29, 2007 and October 15, 2010 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party when the Court of Appeal in Ilorin nullified his election.

The court affirmed Dr. Kayode Fayemi of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria as the genuinely elected governor.

Education / Why People Are Using Nndc’s Foreign Scholarship To Defraud Govt – Nsima Ekere by Yarnvibes(f): 3:57pm On Jul 21, 2017
The Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Nsima Ekere, has claimed that some people are using the Commission’s scholarship scheme to defraud the government because those on the programme are paid in foreign currency.

Ekere raised the alarm while addressing journalists at the NDDC’s Headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

According to Ekere, “They pretend to be NDDC scholars, when indeed they are not. So this is the problem that we have had and that is why some of the scholars didn’t get their money in time.”

The NDDC boss also pledged to sustain the funding of the Commission’s foreign scholarship programme which started seven years ago, adding that scholars who are properly enrolled into the scheme would not be abandoned.

In line with the promise, Ekere said that over 80 per cent of the disbursements have been made, adding that all genuine NDDC scholars would definitely receive their due disbursements.

He said, “It might take time and we regret the delay and hardships, but we are doing everything possible to ensure that we release the funds to them as soon as possible.”

Ekere also sympathized with the honest scholars who were caught up in the delays, assuring that where genuine cases were identified, they would be treated immediately.

He said, “We understand what they are going through and the hardships they have had to face and we also seek their understanding because a lot of people abused the scholarship scheme.

“We discovered that there were a lot of discrepancies in the way the scholarship program was being administered. We award scholarships for studies abroad but you find out that money were paid to people who were still in Nigeria. We didn’t see why that should happen.

“There were other cases where people got admission for a certain courses in a certain schools and then along the line, because there is a fixed amount that is paid to every scholar, some of them will go to a different university for a different program other than what the scholarship is for, just because maybe the school is cheaper. So in our records here, we may see that the scholar is probably in the University of Aberdeen, meanwhile we are getting an invoice from a university in Canada.”

Ekere noted that the scholarship scheme was borne out of the need to bridge the huge manpower deficit in the Niger Delta region, especially in Engineering, Science and Technology, EST.

“We have certain areas we want to concentrate on because we want to develop professional manpower. We discover that some of them have gone for other courses different from what the scholarship was for. So these are some of the areas and we set up a committee to look at and try to resolve,” he added.
