Celebrities / Tope Alabi In Pain As Fraudster Extort Money In Her Name On Instagram by Yarnvibes(f): 5:27am On Jul 21, 2018
Gospel star Tope Alabi’s good name has been stained by a fraudster who used a fake Instagram account to collect huge amount of money from her fans.

In a chat with Saturday Beat, the ace singer said the embarrassment incident has caused her a lot of pain.

She said:

“The pain that these fraudsters have caused me by using my name to extort money from people is too much.

“People have been paying money into an account they provided, thinking that I am the one they are relating with. This is so disheartening because even if I need money, I run to God.

“I am not suspecting anybody at the moment. I got to know about this when people called me to say that they had paid money into a particular account following a request from me.

“Since I discovered this, the person has shut down the account. It is really so painful.”

Why will anyone fall for this kind of scam. When last did Tope Alabi request for money from the public.

My people make una shine eye.

Celebrities / Don’t Throw Away A Good Man Because He Is Always Busy – Alibaba Tells Women by Yarnvibes(f): 7:26am On Jul 19, 2018
Alibaba Akpobome, one of Nigeria’s veteran comedians has dropped another key to healthy relationships.

The comedian who is known for discussing controversial issues took to his official IG page @alibaba to share his relationship goals.

His words:

“I have taught this to many married women, who say their husband is too busy and several of them listened and snapped out of that if he loves you, he will find time to call and make time for you.

“Others are just set in their ways. That thought process is one reason many relationships break up, some before it even starts.

“While I agree that it’s important to be in touch, constantly, with your significant other, I also believe that there are times when work really can hold you down and shut down the world.

“Some could be jobless, have arrived, work for themselves, have light working hours, or even in careers that gives them time to waste.

“Believe it or not, there are people who can actually be busy for 4 hours straight.

“I am an MC, I have started working, sometimes, from 4pm and don’t get off till 12 midnight or even later. There are cabin crew members who are airborne for 12 hours or less.

“My point is, don’t throw away a good man, because he is always busy. Or would you rather one that is always home?

“Like I said, it’s a core part of relationships to stay in touch, but there are times all you need is understanding.

“I have a friend whose babe starts calling him from 4:30pm. Where are you? Are you still on the road? Why didn’t you pick your call?

“Are you sure you are at work? Are you not supposed to have closed? Can you video call me? Blah blah blah.

“Then he met one who doesn’t stress him. She will leave messages. How was your day? Hope the workload is not too much? You have been so busy, try and get a massage this weekend.

“Should I send you lunch? Should my driver bring you orange juice? Once you give a guy the impression that you are not concerned about his career, you are on a long thing.

“This also goes for men who, short of putting a tracker on their babes, monitor them like they are on Parole.

“You may be more beautiful, richer and sexier… but understanding your spouse’s career is KEY”.

Politics / Crisis Brews In Ekiti Assembly As APC Lawmakers Reject Long Adjournment by Yarnvibes(f): 7:17pm On Jul 18, 2018
Fresh crisis is brewing in the Ekiti state House of Assembly following the adjournment of legislative business to October by the majority Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members of the House.

The minority All Progressives Congress (APC) legislators described the long adjournment as illegal and not in the interest of the people of the state who elected them.

The APC Assembly members led by the Minority Leader, Chief Gboyega Aribisogan (Ikole Constituency 1), alleged that the long adjournment was masterminded by Governor Ayo Fayose in a bid to emasculate the legislative arm.

Other APC members of the Ekiti parliament are Mr. Sunday Akinniyi (Ikere Constituency 1) and Mr. Adeniran Alagbada (Ise/Orun Constituency).

Aribisogan, Akinnyi and Alagbada defected from the PDP at different times and joined the APC over internal crisis that rocked their former party.

The twenty-three PDP legislators led by Speaker Kola Oluwawole at a plenary on Tuesday adjourned sitting till October 8 in protest over the governorship election result and alleged harassment of Fayose and PDP members by security agencies.

Leader of Business, Mr. Tunji Akinyele, who moved the motion for the adjournment, said this became imperative due to the political harassment of members by security agents.

But Aribisogan said the APC Assembly members are ready for legislative business, calling on the Police and Department of State Services (DSS) to give the minority lawmakers security anytime they decide to perform their constitutional duties.

Aribisogan said: “That long adjournment was illegal and even the plenary held on Tuesday was illegal because it was Governor Fayose that directed the Speaker to hold that plenary without notice to all members.

“It is unfortunate that we still have this executive recklessness going on in Ekiti State. Maybe the Speaker has forgotten that we now have members of APC in the House because we were neither notified nor consulted.

“That is why we have resolved that we are not going on recess. We are open for our normal legislative business from Mondays to Fridays and we are calling on security agencies so that we can perform our constitutional duties without let or hindrance.

“We are not on recess and we are calling on Ekiti people who have one business or the other in the Assembly to come and meet us.

“They (PDP legislators) are listening to the advice of one man who, perhaps has ordered the Speaker to suspend legislative activities.”

When asked whether three APC members can form a quorum to perform legislative duties, Aribisigan replied: “On our own, we are not on recess; it is only when you are going for plenary that you need a quorum but we can sit at parliamentary, committee and constituency
meetings.”

Akinniyi said: “It was an act of arrogance to have proceeded on an illegal long adjournment. It is against the rule of the House because there are two parties in the House.

“It appears the Speaker is living in a fool’s paradise without giving notice to all members of the Assembly. We APC members of Ekiti State House of Assembly are alive to our responsibilities to legislate for the good of our people and perform other oversight functions.

“For somebody to listen to the instruction of a governor who is in the forest to be controlling the Assembly. What they have done is highly illegal and we have resolved that the legislative business will continue.

“We have duly informed security agencies that we (APC House members) are ready to continue with our constitutional functions so that anytime we are there, they will give us security.

“The minority members will resume office anytime we want because we are not on recess and no individual, no matter how powerful, can stop us from performing our lawful duties.”

Politics / Ekiti Election: Why Fayose Should Not Go To Court – Sagay by Yarnvibes(f): 7:33am On Jul 18, 2018
Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) has reacted to Governor Ayodele Fayose’s plan to protest the Ekiti governorship election in court.

Fayose had on Monday condemned the result which saw Kayode Fayemi defeating the current Deputy Governor of the state and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kolapo Olusola, in 12 LGAs.

He described the victory of Kayode Fayemi as pyrrhic, vowing to appeal the result in court.

However, INEC has insisted that the result of the election was a reflection of the will of the people.

But, reacting, Sagay advised Fayose and his team not to bother going to court but accept the result in the spirit of sportsmanship.

He told Punch, “When the PDP rigged the election in 2014 Fayose did not complain but is now crying foul because the results don’t favor him.

“I think Ekiti people have restored their sense of self-respect and dignity because to have elected a Fayose was a self-inflicted insult and he insulted them by saying he won the election on the grounds of promising them stomach infrastructure.

“It was a very big insult because what he was saying is that the Ekiti people live solely for the sake of eating. That is why stomach infrastructure was a very big insult. And he insulted them for four years; he ran the state down.

“So, this election was a way of voting Fayose out because I don’t think his deputy was the real candidate. In voting out Fayose, Ekiti people have restored their sense of self-respect and we will no longer call them stomach infrastructure state but as a serious people who look at their progress instead of food.”

The senior advocate also lamented the issue of vote-buying in the election but argued that it could not have affected the outcome of the election since both sides were engaged in it.

Celebrities / Jim Iyke: Most Nollywood Marketers Who Banned G8 Actors In 2004 Have Gone Broke by Yarnvibes(f): 7:04am On Jul 18, 2018
About 14 years ago, 8 A-List Nollywood actors, including Ramsey Nouah, Genevieve Nnaji, RMD and Jim Iyke, were banned by marketers for charging huge fees.

During an interview with Pulse TV, Jim Iyke talked about the ban and its impact years later.

According to the actor, the vacuum created by the the ban is yet to be filled till date. He also said that the ban led to a decline in the general prosperity of Nollywood.

Read interview below:

On the ‘powerful’ marketers

When we were banned, so to speak, they forgot that the power that be then was transitional. It’s not real power. It’s something that was emerging, almost non-existent.

To think you have enough power to ban someone and totally shut down what they stand for, what they are gifted with, the joy they bring to themselves, not only as a challenge and a responsibility, but to the world in general, is downright evil. And they paid for it drastically, if you ask me.

The ban was a blessing to him and made him stronger

These were men who thought that what we were asking for at that point was undeserving, so they went ahead and banned us. But you know what? It made us stronger. It made me stronger.

It made me begin to look for other opportunities, do things that I didn’t think was conceivable, meet people that I didn’t know knew me and wanted to do business with me, travel the world, broaden my horizon. It was the greatest blessing of my life.

It ushered in a new group of actors and actresses and created new opportunities, no doubt. It was a welcome development.

The way they went about it was totally wrong and demeaning, but it also created a huge vacuum because a lot of us actually started investing our time and resources outside the industry, which paid off tremendously.

He says the ban brought a decline in Nollywood’s profitability

The gap is still felt till tomorrow. They have not been able to fill it, I dare say. And it has brought a general decline in the general prosperity of Nollywood as well.

Because that back to back thing, that availability really declined and the people that were coming in came in with a great deal of skepticism as regards loyalty. Because to me, you would probably do it to the next person. So they took measures not to fall victim as well, and together, it has been a very smart turnout.

Jim Iyke doesn’t think the ban ended well for the marketers

And these guys [marketers] were not properly trained in the business of filmmaker, so with time, there was redundancy and they started to fizzle out.

Economically, it was not something you could do. They thought they had the power, but they didn’t. It was not you the world wanted to see, it was us. It’s not you that hold the real power, it’s us.

It’s not you that commanded the real respect, it’s us. And the propensity of this entity? It was us. So at the end of the day, it was a terrible underestimation of the kind of power we swayed at that time.

On lessons to be learnt from the ban

I think it’s a great lesson to be learnt in history that you can’t wake up a monster that you don’t have the power to tame. They woke up a monster in all of us at the time, that monster is still there. The moral lesson of it is still etched on my mental mindset.

Nollywood has suffered tremendously for that singular act of mutiny because we really didn’t deserve it at that time. There’s always a table and there’s always civility, and two misunderstood groups can always sit down and meet each other half way. But they thought they had the power to shut our lives down.

At the end of the day, this was the only business they knew and when the audience that had the greatest power of all demanded to see us back on the platform, it was late.

We came back with a renewed energy and together – I think that was the only time we ever amalgamated effort – and decided that this would never happen again in our histroy.

Half of them have gone broke. Seriously, check the history. They have fallen on the road side. Of the pioneer members of Nollywood, I promise you that 90% are doing far better than all of them put together.

A lesson we should all learn in life; appreciate what you have and treat it good. Treat the source of your income well, the universe will respond in kind and give a returns that is worthy.

Crime / "How I Killed Onise Ismail, My Boss At CITEC Estate Abuja" - Security Man by Yarnvibes(f): 11:45am On Jul 14, 2018
Here is the shocking confession of Friday Jibo, a native of Dekina LGA of Kogi state who murdered her boss few weeks ago at her home in CITEC Estate, Abuja.

Jibo murdered Onise Ismail, the daughter of a serving policeman on the 14th of 2018 and fled.

He was arrested 4 days later by an undercover police operative.

Here is his confession to Saturday Sun:

“I met her through an advert posted by the roadside requesting for a driver in February 2017. I called the number on the advert and the agent asked me to meet him at Jabi Airport junction. I have never met him before and he didn’t know me too.

He took me to the woman’s house

At her house, she told me she would be paying me N20, 000 monthly and I had protested that the kind of work she wanted me to do for her deserved more than the N20, 000 she was offering me. Apart from working as a security guard, I would also work as a cleaner and also wash her car. She told me to start first, promising to add something for me with time. I accepted and started to work with her.

Two months later, she told me my duties would now include washing her clothes and that I would no longer close early like I used to. She told me I would henceforth close whenever she asked me to close for the day. I agreed without complaining.

Initially, when I resumed the work I didn’t have any problem with her, but with time, the problems began to surface. That was when I started planning on how to kill her. I worked with her from February 2017 to April 2018, before I killed her.

The major misunderstanding I had with the woman came after she started assigning more work for me, which did not go down well with me.

She ordered me to start washing her panties and sweeping the compound. I was angry and reminded her that she had not finished paying my salary for the previous month because she paid me N15, 000, instead of the N20, 000 we agreed. But before then, she had always paid me my complete salary.”

The day I killed her

“When the devil wants to do his thing, there is a way it pursues the accursed individual. The devil really pursued me. Otherwise, I hardly get angry like that. That is why I believe the devil has a hand inside the whole matter.

Before the incident, I had stopped working with her. Occasionally, she used to call me to come and help her do some things. Whenever she called, I would go and assist her. Sometimes, I would assist her to bring her consignments from the airport because she was a businesswoman.

On the day I killed her, I went to her house at 6 pm, at a time I knew she would not be at home. Gaining entry into her house was not a problem because her gate was always open. When I got there, all I did was just open the gate, went in, hid inside the generator house until 8 pm when she drove in and parked her car.

She went straight to switch on the generator because there was no light. I attacked her as soon as she entered the generator house, stabbing her several times on the thigh. She begged me not to kill her and promised to give me one million naira; I nearly stopped, but I was very angry. I continued to stab her in the thigh and thereafter, I cut her throat and she died. The knife I used to kill her, it was the two of us that went to the market to buy it. When I was sure she was dead, I went in and searched her house. I locked the doors and went to my own house at Karu to relax.”

Three days of freedom

“When I got home that night, I wanted to go to the police station to report the matter. Before I started working with her, she took me to Life Camp Police Station where I submitted relevant documents. I wanted to go and report the incident. Somehow, I didn’t go.

Three days after the incident, I received a call from somebody asking me to come to Garki market to meet him. I didn’t know the person calling me was a police officer. When I got there, they arrested me and took me to the police station.

The man who interrogated me asked me if I was aware of what happened to my madam and I said yes. He told me to tell him the whole truth and that was how I opened up to him, I told him how I killed her.

But before I opened up to the policeman, I, first of all, lied that it was her boyfriend that killed her because I know one man that used to come to her house every time. When I saw that it didn’t work, I had to tell him that nobody sent me, that I did the killing alone. They really beat me very well before I opened up.”

Politics / Ekiti: Snatch Ballot Box, Lose Your Hand; Run With It, Lose Your Legs —police by Yarnvibes(f): 7:01am On Jul 14, 2018
Today, 667,064 eligible voters who have collected their PVCs out of 913, 334 registered voters are expected to file out across the 2,195 polling units spread across 177 wards in 16 local government areas of Ekiti State to elect a governor who would be saddled with the mandate of running the state for the next four years.

35 governorship candidates from different political parties are jostling to occupy the governorship seat.

Adequate security has been assured as no fewer than 4, 390 combined forces of soldiers and other paramilitary personnel will be deployed to complement the 30,000 policemen who have been drafted to Ekiti to monitor the election.

The atmosphere in the Ekiti election week has been charged, anxiety is beginning to set in, the fear of the unknown is palpable, intrigues, permutation, alignment and realignment of political friends and foes are becoming very noticeable. Interest, the determinant factor is beginning to take the front burner.

Gone were the days when political office holders of different categories from the governor to the chairman of local government area would come to the polling booth with their security details. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Operations, Mr. Habilal Joshak, told the gladiators that all their security details would be withdrawn from them from the eve of the election till after the election.

According to the Deputy Inspector of police, who has been put in charge of the security affairs for the July 14 election, this would add to the credibility of the Ekiti governorship election.

The police boss said, “We won’t allow anybody to go to the polling booth with armed men, this is a breach of the Electoral Act.

“We have contacted them and they have to be here before election commences. This election must not be compromised. They will be documented and whoever defies this will be sanctioned, because they have been contacted”, he warned.

“If you cast your votes, you can keep a distance and protect your votes, but if you snatch the ballot, we will cut off your hands, if you run with it, we will stop your legs.

“Our duty is to secure not only the electoral materials but also all the citizens. We are going to be professional and watchful, because we don’t want to be bedeviled with cases of hooliganism, ballot snatching and hate speeches before, during and after this election”, he said.

A top Islamic leader in Egan area of Lagos has divorced his wife of 23 years for converting to Christianity.

45-eyar-old Rabiu Olayiwola, an Imam urged a court in Igando yesterday to end his marriage to 41-year-old Rashidat, the mother of his 7 children.

He told the court he no longer loves his wife because she converted to Christianity and became a prophetess.

A 48-year-old building contractor, Rabiu Olayiwola, has urged an Igando Customary Court to dissolve his 23-year-old marriage to 41-year-old wife Rashidat for alleged change of religion.

The couple, who got married in 2000 in accordance with Islamic injunctions, have seven children.

Rabiu, who hails from Ofiki in Atisbo South Local Government Area of Oyo State, said he no longer loved his wife because she converted to Christianity.

Rabiu, an imam from Ofiki area of Atisbo Oyo state said:

“She has stopped showing me the care and love that she used to show me since she converted to Christianity. This has also not given me any peace of mind as she also questions my authority. My wife goes out at will and never informs me about her movement. Most times, she takes my children to vigils and I don’t want that in my house.

“I am not against her religious practice but she shouldn’t take my children with her,” Rabiu explained.

The petitioner, who lives in Egan, a Lagos suburb, said:

“My wife now practices Christianity and claims to be a prophetess but has only caused trouble and brought shame to me.”

“She doesn’t do those things a wife ought to do.

“She disrespects me in front of the children and also my Muslim members”.

The petitioner claimed that after the Alternative Dispute Resolution’s (ADR’s) intervention, everything went on smoothly for a week before trouble started all over again.

His wife, he said, proved stubborn when she was called by the Islamic group in the community.

He said:

“She and I can’t go on different religions as this would be a great disaster to me and my reputation. I don’t want a divorce if only my wife would come back to being a Muslim. But if she is not ready to change, I want the court to separate us as I am no longer interested in the union; I want to live comfortably and in peace.”

Rabiu urged the court to award the custody of their children to him.

Rashidat, who has changed her name to Rachael, denied the allegations. She described her husband as inconsiderate.

The respondent said:

“My husband is not fair; he only cares about himself and what he wants. He says he wants me to be a Muslim again when he knows quite well that I was a Christian before marrying him. But because I loved him, I did as he wanted.

“God has been calling me to be a prophetess and I have been unclear about His calling until two years ago and since I did, my husband has changed towards me. He also went against my wish to shave my son’s hair after we were told not to”

The 41-year-old woman, who is a photographer, added:

“I still love him, but whatever he wants is okay by me. But I can’t leave the house we both built of which I suffered most. I do not want to end the marriage because of the love I have for my children, I do not want them to grow up in a separated home.”

She insisted that she would not change her religion, adding that she would not oppose the divorce if it would bring peace.

The court’s President, Mr Akin Akinniyi, said the couple were obviously tired of each other.

He ordered Rabiu to give his wife N5000 monthly and continue his duty to his children.

He advised the estranged couple to keep the peace while they live together.

“I hereby adjourn the case till July 17 for judgment,” he said.

Celebrities / Aremu Afolayan Denies Being Gay, Talks About Nollywood Actors Living In Lekki by Yarnvibes(f): 7:03am On Jun 23, 2018
Kunle Afolayan younger brother, Aremu has come after actors living larger than life.

In a recent chat with Saturday Beats, Aremu said most actors living lavishly are likely getting their money from some influential people.

He added that he is not convinced that actors living in Lekki made their money from acting.

His words:

“By the way, I live my life, people tend to think that I am the richest Yoruba actor, but that is a lie. Nigerians assume a lot. I live in a rented apartment because I cannot afford to build one. When they see me buy a new car, they don’t know if I paid for the car in instalments; instead they call me a big boy. What type of big boy lives on N50,000 or N100,000 income per film as an actor? I challenge any Nigerian actor that is living larger than life to state how they made their money because I am sure it is not from the movies they make. I am talking about both the English and Yoruba actors. If they like, they can say they make N5m per film, they cannot afford to build or buy a house at Lekki or Victoria Island or Ikoyi. It is impossible. They should call out mathematicians to figure it out. It is a lie. It is because they meet some influential people that give them businesses or they have side businesses. Since we do not all meet such people or make the kind of money they make through these people, we just have to be content with what we have. In my life, I have never seen an ‘educated illiterate’ country like Nigeria . Nigerians are very gullible when it comes to judging other people’s lifestyle since they do not know anything, they assume. Then social media came and it made things worse.”

On why people call him gay, the actor said:

“I went to a store with a friend to pick up a wristwatch I had been paying for in instalments. My friend was taking pictures when I told him that we should cause trouble on social media with a picture of me pecking him. When I posted the picture, it went viral within 15 minutes. In fact, we were still in the store when the picture went viral. I was shocked that Nigerians would even conceive the idea that I am gay because I love women. Anybody can be gay and I mean no disrespect to them but as for me, the picture was just done for publicity stunt. I never knew it would go viral that fast.

“People call me a gigolo; how come I do not have money? I know a lot of people that are gigolos and they are doing fine. If they say I am an actor and gigolo, why would I have to sell a car in order to afford another car? What is wrong with me buying Versace and Ferragamo? Why would I be a gigolo and not dress like a posh boy? Why would I be wearing slippers everywhere I go? So why should I answer the people calling me a gigolo? I do not have to convince anyone; when I know that at the end of the day, I would not waste my time convincing you about anything. You can think about anything you like but I am not here to convince anyone.”

Politics / Ekiti 2018: Buhari Does Not Care If State Is Governed By PDP Or APC – Osinbajo by Yarnvibes(f): 2:09pm On Jun 22, 2018
Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has told traditional rulers in Ekiti State that President Muhammadu Buhari does not care if a state is being governed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, or the All Progressives Congress, APC, in his developmental plans for the country.

The Vice President said the President was committed to the development of all the states of the federation irrespective of the political party in charge of the states.

Osinbajo said this while addressing traditional rulers from Ekiti State at the palace of the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, and was contained in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande

He noted that this is why Ekiti State had been benefiting from the Federal Government’s Social Investment Programme despite being a Peoples Democratic Party state.

He cited the N-Power programme under which he said 3,339 young graduates from Ekiti State had been employed.

The VP explained that the beneficiaries had been assisting the state as teachers, extension workers and health workers.

Osinbajo disclosed that additional 8,600 graduates had been pre-selected and would be engaged at the end of this month, therefore bringing the number of beneficiaries in the state to 11,000.

He added that 10,664 beneficiaries from the state had also received micro-credit from the Federal Government of Nigeria under the SIP.

Another 10,688 people, he said, were benefiting from the Conditional Cash Transfers in the state by receiving a monthly benefit of N5,000.

He said, “These have been done, as I said, because the President’s view is that we must not play politics with the health and welfare and prosperity of our people. No politicking.

“That is why despite the fact that this is not an APC state, all of these benefits have been given to these people, the indigenes of this state because they are Nigerians,” he said.

Osinbajo further expressed the belief that if the candidate of the APC, Kayode Fayemi, was elected, the state governor in the July 14 governorship election, the state would be better for it.

He said the country needed devoted and serious-minded people to be in the saddle.

“I want to say that nothing comes easy; you need people who are devoted, people who are serious-minded, dedicated to the work of improvement and development. That is what our country needs today.”

Sports / 2018 World Cup: Super Eagles Confirm Payment Of Bonuses by Yarnvibes(f): 10:02am On Jun 09, 2018
Super Eagles players have confirmed receiving their bonuses, ahead of the 2018 World Cup, which kicks off June 14.

A cross section of the players confirmed the payments to KweséESPN, although they declined to go on record.

“Yes, we have been paid,” one member of the squad confirmed.

“Some of us who have accounts in England collected cash and paid it into their accounts by themselves.

“The rest of us just got bank transfers.”

In November, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) signed an agreement with the players on a pay structure for bonuses, allowances and a share of the income from participation at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Under the agreement, the players were to be paid their qualification bonuses and share of the FIFA income in advance and are also due 30% of the NFF’s appearance fee from FIFA, which amounts to $2.8million.

FIFA made an advance payment of $2 million, while the NFF say they raised $800,000 from sponsorship.

Each player got $10,000 per World Cup qualifying game, while head coach Gernot Rohr will be paid $15,000 per game and his assistants get $10,000 per game.

Nigeria begin their World Cup campaign against Croatia on June 16 in Kaliningrad, before facing Iceland on June 22 and then Argentina on June 26.
