NYSC / Afforestation: NYSC Members To Plant 1 Million Trees In Kogi by Yarnvibes(f): 8:44am On Jun 02, 2017
The Kogi State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Ngozi Nwatarali, on Thursday said that corps members in the state were expected to plant one million trees this year.

She said this was part of an initiative by the Federal Government of planting one million trees in the state.

Nwatarali made the disclosure at the flag-off ceremony and sensitization exercise of “Plant One Million Tree” by the 2017 Batch ‘A’ Stream 1 corps members and “would be” volunteers at the State Orientation Camp, Asaya, Kabba.

According to her, the Federal Ministry of Environment in collaboration with the NYSC, is initiating and implementing the planting of “One Million Tree Concept”, expected to be effectively implemented by corps members in every state of the federation.

She said that the sensitization exercise was imperative due to the high rate of deforestation in the country, adding that statistics has shown that Nigeria has lost about two million hectares of her forest between 2005 and 2010.

“The programme is meant to engage and mobilize stakeholders in tree planting and maintenance culture, and the volunteer corps members are to be called ‘Tree Planting Ambassadors (TPA).

“TPAs are expected to also mobilize other corps members and the public for voluntary tree planting and also create awareness in tree planting in schools, churches, mosques, villages and communities during their service year.

“To achieve this, each corps member is expected to plant four trees in their respective places of primary assignment; then nurture these trees for the rest of their service year and give regular account.

“This will help our nation to combat deforestation and achieve afforestation as well as meeting the UN Food and Agricultural Organizations (FAO) recommended 25 per cent national tree cover,” she said.

The coordinator urged the corps members to volunteer and key into the concept that would in the final analysis make them tree planting ambassadors of their country.

Earlier, Dr Solomon Hinmikaye, Head of Horticulture, Kabba College of Agriculture, stressed the need for the volunteers to have passion for tree planting, noting that problems of erosion, global warming and increased gas emissions were caused deforestation.

“We have brought seedlings from Kabba college of agriculture to be planted by corps members to help promote afforestation and reduce the building of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere

“To counter deforestation, we simply need to plant trees; massive replanting effort would help to alleviate the problems deforestation causes,” he said.

The NYSC state coordinator with corps members jointly planted some trees to flag-off the programme.

Agriculture / Nigeria Will Start Exporting Yams To Europe In June 2017 – Agric Minister, Ogbeh by Yarnvibes(f): 10:04am On May 30, 2017
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh, has said that arrangements had been concluded for the first container of yams to leave the shores of Nigeria for the European continent on the 29th of June this year.

He disclosed this in Abuja during a chat with journalists on the achievements of his Ministry since the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government took over power two years ago.

Ogbeh stated that, within the next two years, Nigeria’s agricultural sector will regain its lost glory at the world stage as a major food producer and exporter.

He noted that apart from yam that will soon be added to the list of farm produce Nigeria exports to the rest of the world, the country was doing well in the exportation of vegetables, beans and cowpeas to India, as well as cashew to Vietnam.

The Minister further said that without the support of Nigerians who heeded the call of President Buhari to take agriculture seriously and shift focus away from oil, the giant strides the country was making in the exportation of farm produce would have been impossible.

He said: “In another two years, we will be back on the world stage where every country had recognized and expected Nigeria to live up to the name – Major Food Producer.

“On the 29th of June this year, the first container of yams will be leaving the shores of Nigeria for UK.

“Yes, we have been dealing with vegetables and a lot of other produce already and we will continue to be selling pulses mainly beans and cowpeas to India.

“We will soon be back exporting cocoa again on a large scale, although we are exporting very little now; and cashew nuts to Vietnam which we intend to start processing here very soon.

“The processed cashew nuts will be exported to Wal-Mart and other major supermarkets across the globe.

“We are on our way. It is just about time.

“The beautiful thing is that Nigerians make me proud. In spite of the trauma they have been through, their response to the call by the President to return to agriculture has been absolutely successful – Young and old, civil servants, military men, journalists, everybody is on his way back to agriculture.

“We only have the challenge, now, of giving them what they need, and we will definitely meet that challenge.”

On the exportation of processed food as against raw farm produce, Ogbeh said that Nigeria had all it takes to effectively play in the international processed food market, stressing that most of what Nigerians ate were already processed foods.

He however said that procurement of machineries, stable electricity, and sudden drop in the value of Naira are some of the challenges that need to be surmounted before the country can play effectively in the processed food market globally?

“We have to process what we grow. There are very few things we eat raw especially vegetables and fruits. But rice, sugar, milk, sorghum, millet, cassava – among those items; we are almost there.

“Nigerians may find that difficult to accept now because the prices are so high and that can be explained by the sudden drop in the value of the Naira. Machineries need to be procured. We need to stabilize electricity otherwise the cost of production and processing gets too high.

“Otherwise, there is no question whether Nigeria can or will get there. It is just a matter of time.

“Unfortunately, for agriculture once a country slows down like we did for nearly 30 years, it becomes difficult to restart the engine.

“But for Nigeria, the people are incredible and they are doing it. It took Brazil 30 years and India 50 years to be able to get to where they are now. It won’t take us that long.

“In 10 years, I tell you, people across planet earth who want to respect Nigeria on agriculture will definitely have to do so; because they have no choice. We are on our way.”

Jobs/Vacancies / N-power Beneficiaries Share Experiences by Yarnvibes(f): 8:10am On May 30, 2017
Some of the beneficiaries of the N.Power programme, who shared their experiences, appreciated the support of the government in empowering them.

N-Power is one of the components of the N-SIP aimed at empowering Nigerians both graduates and non-graduates – between the ages of 18 and 35 – who get paid N30, 000 monthly over a period of two years.

About 174,160 beneficiaries have been deployed so far out of the 200,000 selected N-Power beneficiaries.

Dapil Ali, a beneficiary of N-Power graduate scheme in Plateau State said he was employed under the scheme and posted to a school of the handicap in the state as a teacher.

“I have been able to instruct the blind students and my vision is to make every blind person a scientist and a mathematician.

“I have been saving part of my stipend; I desire to establish a computer centre that will be training vision impaired persons through a special programme,’’ he said.

A beneficiary from Kano State Mr. Ebere Charles, said he graduated with 1st Class Honours in 2013 without a job.

Charles said that being the only graduate in the family of eight, it was frustrating not having a job until N-Power transformed his life.

“I was skeptical about this N-Power programme before, thinking it will be like any other failed social programmes in the past.

“I applied and I was posted to School of Hygiene in Kano where I lecture and counsel the students,’’ he said.

Mr Magaji Nicolas, another beneficiary of the programme from Kaduna, who graduated seven years ago, was full of appreciation to the government for employing them.

“My life before now was close to despair, I will wake up without a job,’’ he said,

Magaji, however, appealed to the Federal Government to extend the scheme to accommodate more youths.

“Youths want to be engaged like us but no one to engage them; the stipend is helping but engaging youths is more important even that the money.’’

Ms Geneve Okecheckwu, another beneficiary from Enugu said she had worked with some professionals under the N-Power to learn how to create website.

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Suleiman Kazaure, said on Monday that the scheme would soon begin posting of corps members to farms.

Mr. Kazaure said this in an interview with journalists during his official visit to the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Sagamu, Ogun State.

He said that the move to deploy corps members in farms as in line with the agricultural development programme of the NYSC.

According to him, the NYSC has concluded preparations to begin the posting at the conclusion of the three-week orientation exercise.

He said that Bauchi, Oyo, Kebbi and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, had been earmarked for the pilot phase.

“It should interest you to know that the NYSC will soon begin its agricultural development scheme where corps members will be posted to farms for their primary assignments.

“Already the NYSC has acquired active farmlands across the nation’s geopolitical zones with four already fully operational in Kwali, Bauchi, Oyo and Kebbi.

“After this orientation programme for the Batch ‘A’ corps members, we will begin posting some of them to these farms as a pilot phase.

“Though we are starting with four states for now, we will integrate the other states as time goes, the project is ongoing,” Mr. Kazaure said.

The NYSC boss had tasked the corps members not to seek white-collar jobs which were non-existent but rather develop their potentials for entrepreneurship excellence.

He said the corps members could begin their journey toward financial independence by tapping into and maximising the benefits of the NYSCs Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Programme.

“The NYSC has provided all the tools and support you need to develop your capacity to the fullest, it now depends on you, there is no short cut to success but by hard work.

“Of all the programmes outlined for you during the orientation, there is none more important that you must fully participate in than the SAED programme.

“I want you to create your own jobs by being creative and innovative, you must strive to be labour employers rather than labour seekers.

“Please don’t look for white-collar jobs, your skills and potentials can serve you better in the way of realising your dreams,” he said.

Mr. Kazaure said that the SAED programme was made possible by partnership with public and private sector organisations to build entrepreneurial capacity.

Gladys Mbachi, the Ogun Coordinator of the NYSC, thanked the director general for the visit and emphasis on SAED programme.

“Already, we are helping the corps members with the SAED programme in earnest.

“Our objective is to expose their talents to where they fit so that when they go out there, they will be able to build on what we have given them,” Ms. Mbachi said.

Mr. Kazaure’s visit was to inspect facilities at the camp and to familiarise himself with the 2017 Batch ‘A’ Stream I corps members undergoing orientation at the camp.

NYSC / NYSC: Fayose Calls For Increase In ‘alawee’ by Yarnvibes(f): 3:02pm On May 29, 2017
Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Ayodele Fayose has called on the Federal Government to increase the monthly allowance of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in view of the dwindling purchasing power of the Naira.

Governor Fayose made this call during the swearing-in and official opening ceremony for the 2017 Batch ‘A’ Stream I of National Youth Service Corps members at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Ise/Orun/Emure Ekiti.

The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government Dr. (Mrs) Modupe Alade stressed that the N19,800 monthly allowance was no longer sufficient for the survival of Corps Members, adding that a review of the allowance must be given an urgent attention by the Federal Government.

The Governor who recently provided Hostel and toilet facilities for the camp reiterated his commitment to the wellbeing of corps members serving in the State and promised to give further assistance to the NYSC.

Fayose lamented that the monumental increase in the population of graduates annually without corresponding development in the facilities has led to huge infrastructural decay in the NYSC Camps nationwide.

Urging the Corps Members to however render outstanding services to the State and their host communities, Fayose assured that the state Government would continue to acknowledge and reward deserving youths with State Honours Award, automatic employment and cash gifts.

He encouraged them to go into practical Farming, Fishery, Snail farming and tap into the agriculturally friendly environment of the state, emphasizing the need for them to take advantage of the pleasant, accommodating, peaceful and hospitable atmosphere in the State.

The State Coordinator, NYSC Ekiti State, Mrs. Nwano Eze Ukgha who put the number of youths registered in the new batch at 2,066 warned the corps members against indulging in cult activities, consumption of illicit drugs, and other forms of unwholesome acts on the camp as erring members would be handed over to the camp court for trial according to the by-laws

The Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, said his administration is determined to upgrade the facilities at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare Akoko.

Akeredolu said the state government is embarking on a massive rehabilitation of the infrastructure on the camp to make it a befitting edifice.

According to him, the government will be reconstructing the perimeter fence round the whole camp while new hostels will be built and old ones renovated.

The Governor expressed displeasure over the state of facilities at the camp describing it as grossly poor and not benefitting the status of the state as an oil producing one.

Akeredolu made this known through the Secretary to the State Government, Ifedayo Abegunde during an inspection tour of facilities on the camp.

Governor Akeredolu who was represented by the Secretary to the state government charged the corps members to use their coming together to learn about the ideals and diverse culture of Nigeria and make new friends, get a better understanding of the country and devote time to reflect their plans for both the service and post-service years life.

He also assured them of the peace loving and accommodating the life of the good people of Ondo State as well as government’s determination to make their stay in the Sunshine State a memorable and interesting one.

The governor also charged them to live up to the scheme’s objective of fostering national unity, love, harmony and productive integration across the country.

In his address at the occasion, the Acting Chairman of NYSC Governing Board in Ondo State, Mr Emmanuel Adelayi, assured the new corps members that the state government is giving a top priority to their welfare and safety.

Adelayi also assured them that the Governing Board will ensure that they are posted to areas where their services will be most needed.

He, however, implored them to make humility, discipline, and commitment their watchwords.

On his own, the State Coordinator of NYSC, Mr Sunday Robert Aroni requested the assistance of the state government in the renovation of the camp to bring it to a standard level.

He also called on local governments in the state to make their presence felt in the camp by erecting structures which will be named after them.

Education / LAUTECH Students Protest, Blast Aregbesola, Ajimobi Over Incessant Strike by Yarnvibes(f): 5:28pm On May 24, 2017
Amalgam of students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology(LAUTECH) on Wednesday berated the governments of Osun and Oyo for their seeming insensitivity over their plights as lecturers in the university embarked on another turn of strike.

The students who staged a peaceful protest within Osogbo metropolis, lamented the psychological trauma they have been subjected to as a result of continuous interruption in their academic calendar.

They consciously and emotionally expressed their frustrations through different inscriptions on their various placards.

While some carried inscription like “Aregbesola and Ajimobi have finished us”, some said” Aregbesola and Ajimobi are callous and mean,”

Some decried the extension of the stipulated duration of their courses this way” 5 years course turned to 7″ , Aregbesola, Ajimobi, you are wicked.”

The procession of the protesting students, however, caused gridlock for several hours, despite the presence of the police who guided the students to prevent the protest from degenerating into violence.

DAILY POST recalls that academic staff of the ivory tower, under the auspices of Academic staff Union of Universities(ASUU) had on May 2016 embarked on industrial action to press home their demand for the payment of backlog of unpaid salaries and allowances.

The strike was, however, called off on February 2017, after keeping students at home for over 8 months.
To the chagrin of the students, therefore, the lecturers again called out their members for an industrial action again in about two weeks ago to demand for their outstanding salaries, the development that prompted the students to disrupt Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) scheduled to hold on the campus recently and other protests.

Crime / $450m Lost To Cyber Crime In Nigeria —senate by Yarnvibes(f): 8:38am On May 24, 2017
THE Senate, yesterday, said Nigeria has lost about $450 million to 3,500 cyber attacks on its Information and Communication Technology, ICT, space.

According to the Senate, this represents over 70 per cent of hacking attempts on technology in the country.

Against this backdrop, the Senate asked the National Security Adviser, NSA,Major-General Mohammed Babagana Monguno (retd), to, as a matter of urgency, alert all security agencies and financial institutions in the country about the current and threatening dimensions of cyber attacks.

The Senate also asked its Committee on ICT and Cybercrime to immediately convoke a national stakeholders’ conference on cyber security that would help stimulate what it described as a collective reflection among relevant stakeholders and articulate a national and broad-based approach to keep the country ahead of the challenges.

The Senate, which noted that the figures were arrived at by revelations from studies, expressed concern that government servers were currently under serious threat.

The upper chamber, however, lamented that the ICT shortfall in Nigeria was enormous, while its cyberspace had become very porous, adding that the system lacked a well-structured and effective approach to cyber-crime control, according to the oversight findings of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime.

Yesterday’s resolutions of the Senate were sequel to a motion by Senator Abdulfatai Buhari (APC Oyo North), entitled: “Worrisome dimension of cyber-crime and insecurity, urgent need for concerted efforts to secure Nigeria’s cyberspace.”

Get ready to fight cyber war— Ekweremadu

Meanwhile, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who presided over yesterday’s plenary, however, called for concerted efforts at confronting the cyber war currently threatening the world.

Ekweremadu noted that criminals had on a daily basis been hacking into the e-mails and other accounts of very important people on social media.

He said: “It is worrisome that cyber war is coming and we all need to be prepared to fight it. It is expected that all stakeholders will rise and deal with it.”

Earlier in his presentation, Senator Abdulfatai said the Senate noted that the positive posture of ICT revolution was being dampened by malicious activities of criminal elements in society who invade cyberspace, presenting risks to businesses, national economies and security, such as malicious use of the social media, identity theft, electronic fraud, data damage or alteration, espionage, etc;

He said the Senate was aware that these elements have developed several hacking technics, one of the most recent being Ransomwm’e known as WannaCry Worm or WannaCrypt, which infected computer operating systems and networks, encrypted files and asked for ransom.

According to him, cyber attacks are taking a dangerous dimension all over the world, as Lloyds Banking Group and Barclays Bank of UK, for instance, suffered 48-hour online attack from 11th to 13m of January this year, in which the criminals attempted to block about 20 million accounts.

He also noted that Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland were bombarded with millions of fake requests designed to grind the groups’ systems to a halt and asked for a huge ransom in bitcoins to end the attacks which were being prevented by the Denial of Access (DOS) system;

“The Senate is further Worried that on the 12th of May alone, at least 200,000 targets in over 150 countries were hit by cyber attacks which the Internet Protocol suggested to have originated from the Middle East, particularly from Syria and Iran, as well as Kenya, supposedly using a malware, known as Lazarus, to compromise systems in banking and information networks, with no clear evidence yet as to how the act was perfected, and that the criminals are already targeting Nigeria;

“It is also alarmed about revelations from studies that over 70% of hacking attempts so far, i.e. about 3500 cyber-attacks on the Nigeria lCT space, have been successful resulting in loss of over $450 million and that government servers are currently under serious threat.’’

In their separate contributions, Senators Olugbenga Ashafa, APC Lagos East and Dino Melaye, APC Kogi West, claimed that they have been victims of cyber crime in the past, even as they stressed the need for all arms of government to ensure that the crime was eliminated in the society.

The senators, however called for laws that would end misuse of cyberspace in the country and ensure that cyberspace operators function in accordance with the extant laws, adding that erring ones must be dealt with to serve as deterrent to others.

NYSC / NYSC Director General Message To The 2017 Batch A Stream I Pcms by Yarnvibes(f): 7:04am On May 24, 2017
MESSAGE OF THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL, BRIGADIER GENERAL SULAIMAN KAZAURE FSS MSS DSS PhD MCSN, TO THE 2017 BATCH ‘A’ (STREAM ONE) CORPS MEMBERS

My Dear Compatriots in National Service

It gives me an immense pleasure to address you as you come on board the ship of nation building which shall sail for the next twelve months.

Indeed, this is another phase in your life, a rare opportunity for self development and actualisation, as well as contribution to national development on the platform of selfless service. As you join the elite vanguard in pursuit of a united, virile, egalitarian and economically prosperous Nation, I charge you to approach this task with the highest degree of fervour, patriotism, service and humility - the motto of the forty - four year old Service Corps that has become a household name in the country.

My dear virile corps members, your coming this far in life, culminating in your membership of the Service Scheme has not been by accident, but through a deliberate course of action, anchored on discipline, diligence and resilience. The aggregate of which ensured your success in the various qualifying examinations which gave you the ticket to be in the NYSC Orientation camp now, for which I extend a hearty congratulations.

I implore you to reflect these virtues in all the tasks that shall be assigned you during the Orientation course and the rest of the Service Year.

As it were, the National Youth Service Corps has four cardinal programmes which every member must successfully pass through to qualify for demobilization at the end of twelve months.

The first is Orientation course, followed by Primary Assignment; Community Development Service, also known as Secondary Assignment and the last, but not the least, Winding Up / Passing - Out Ceremony.

As the name connotes, Orientation course which ushers you into the Service Year is designed to equip you adequately for the challenges that lie within and ahead of the Service. It involves trainings in physical fitness and mental alertness, lectures, social and sporting activities such as Dance, Drama, Variety Night, inter - platoon Football and Volley competitions, as well as cooking competition, among others.

My dear patriotic corps members, the National Youth Service Corps in the last few years recorded a great paradigm shift in its Orientation course contents, tailoring them to the prevailing economic realities, being a responsive, responsible and result - oriented Agency. The shrinkage of white collar jobs in the country which necessitated an army of unemployed and restive youth in search of scarcely available jobs made this shift very germane and compelling.

Primarily, this witnessed the introduction of skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development programme in the Scheme, with a Department solely dedicated to coordinating and managing the programme.

I therefore hastily admonish that you pay very keen interest to this programme which is a bold attempt by the NYSC to stem the tide of youth unemployment in Nigeria through the impartation of various skill sets and entrepreneurial mindset to corps members, for self dependency and financial freedom at the end of Service.

It is gratifying to state that credit facilities are offered to interested members at single - digit interest rate by a number of Financial Institutions that are in collaboration with the Scheme in its resolve to raise a crop of Entrepreneurs from amongst youth corps members which has been a success story. The modalities for accessing the facilities shall be unveiled to you during the sensitization programmes that will be held in the camp. You must avail yourselves of this opportunity offered on a platter of gold by the Scheme by keying into the skill acquisition programme.

Let me at this juncture emphasize that in the three weeks you will be encamped, there will be strict observance of regimentation in all your activities. The implication of this is the curtailment of your freedom. You are expected to conform accordingly and also ensure active participatory camp life, while living harmoniously with one another. In this wise, I encourage you to join the different camp committees such as Social, Sports, Utility, Security, Sanitation committees among others in order to achieve the aforesaid purpose.

At the end of Service, deserving corps members will be bestowed with some awards in the form of Chairman's Award, State Honours Award and the most prestigious and highest of them, NYSC President's Honours Award which carries automatic employment into the Federal Civil Service. Details of these Awards shall be revealed to you by your State Coordinator. However, it is pertinent to state that grading of recipients starts from the camp. I expect you to begin now to distinguish yourself in whatever you do on camp as all eyes are on you.

At the end of the three - week programme, you will be posted to all the nooks and crannies of the state to commence the other phases of Service. I enjoin you to live peacefully with your host communities. As much as possible, make some positive impact in the communities by leaving them better than you will meet them. Get properly integrated into the communities, learning their languages, cultures and norms. However, you must avoid their taboos. Never get involved in their local politics or show partisanship in national politics whenever you are enlisted on national assignment as Electoral Officers. Involvement in national politics is only permissible for you after your demobilization from Service.

Finally, you must never embark on frivolous journeys, whether within or outside the state. Some of your predecessors met their sudden deaths through such journeys, thereby causing their families great anguish. If there is a compelling need for you to travel outside the state, permission must be obtained from your State Coordinator through the appropriate channel. This will be explained to you in detail by the State Coordinator. Remember, the Nation and your families need you to stay alive so as to complete the Service and maximize your life potentials.

My dear children, I welcome you once again on board the ship of unity and sustainable development. As you sail along, I wish you a resounding success in the voyage.

God bless you.

SZ Kazaure
Brig Gen
Director-General, National Youth Service Corps

Politics / Ekiti 2018: Fayose Declares Intention To Contest In 2018 Polls by Yarnvibes(f): 10:10pm On May 22, 2017

Outspoken Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has declared his intention to contest in the 2018 Ekiti gubernatorial election.

The Governor speaking in a live broadcast on Ekiti State Television in Ado-Ekiti on Monday evening, said this decision was to enable him serve his term which was truncated through an orchestrated illegal impeachment in the year 2006.

It can be recalled that the Supreme Court in 2014 nullified the impeachment saga that ousted Fayose from office about seven months to the end of his first term. The apex court at that time described the said impeachment as null and void.

Fayose who was explaining why he chose to put his image on a campaign poster currently circulating the nooks and cranny of the state, said that since the apex court had said that his impeachment in 2006 was illegal, he would then have to approach same court to interprete what that ruling means and also consider seeking a re-election in 2018.

“The Continuty poster you see my image and which is spreading across the state can be interpreted in two ways. First is the need for me to ask the apex court to explain its 2014 ruling that my so called impeachment in 2014 was illegal, null and void and consider a re-election in 2018 so that I can complete my term.

“Second is for me to get our own, who is like Ayo Fayose to continue after my tenure in 2018.,”

NYSC / Muslim Organizations Wants Army Recruitment, NYSC Camp Shifted For Ramadan by Yarnvibes(f): 5:52pm On May 22, 2017
The Da’awah Coordination Council of Nigeria (DCCN), an umbrella body in Nigeria for Da’awah Organizations/Institutions has threatened to boycott the army recruitment exercise and NYSC camp if the exercises are not shifted during the Ramadan period.

The DCCN include; National Council of Muslims Youth Organizations, Muslims Students Society, Islamic Education Trust, Muslim Sisters organisation, Jamatul Muslmeen sokoto, Council of Ulam’a; Council of Da’awah and Welfare of Coverts and Jama’atu Nasril Islam.

Others are; Women in Da’awah, Nat Association of Arabic and Islamic Studies, NATAIS, Federation of Muslim women Associations, UNN Muslim Umma, Enugu, Islamic Medical Association Of Nigeria. World Assembly Of Muslim Youth, Adabiyyah Kamaliya, Islamic missioners Association, ilorin among others.

The position of the Islamic organisations was contained in the text of the press conference jointly signed by the National President and National Secretary General Muhammad Lawal Maidoki and Engr. Ahmad M.Y. Jumba respectively addressed in Kaduna on Monday.

The text reads, "DCCN wishes to remind Nigeria Government and its Parastatals such as the Nigeria Army and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) that Muslims are part of Nigeria and indeed constitute majority of its population.

"The Council finds it imperative to issue this statement due to insensitivity of the Government and its Agencies on National Programmes and activities that concern all Nigerians; a typical example is the 76th Nigeria Army Regular Recruits Intake, Zonal Screening Exercise from 27th May-9th June 2017 in Ramadan 1438 On which successful candidates Will continue throughout Ramadan. Similarly, the NYSC is holding another Orientation Camp from 27th May – 17th June, 2017.

"This action will subject the Muslim Candidates and Corps members to unnecessary hardship and divert their attention from the required attention of every Muslim in Ramadan of spiritual attention/dedication.

Participants may have to stop fasting or break it or fail to qualify in the Camp activities. We cannot understand why only Muslim sensitivities will be treated with lack of consideration.

"Therefore, we call on the Acting President His Excellency Professor Yemi Osinbajo to immediately prevail on the Nigerian Army and the NYSC to stop the Camps and shift the dates till after Ramadan.

Failure to do so, may lead to advising Muslim leadership in Nigeria to call on Muslims to boycott the Camps and any other National activities of this nature that involve Muslims in Nigeria in Ramadan.

"We equally call on the leadership of the National Assembly to halt the Camp and call to order the leadership of the Nigeria Army and the NYSC.

Furthermore; we are using this medium to call on all Paramilitary outfits and MDAS of the country to respect Muslim rights and values in the interest of peace and harmony. Even in the western countries where Muslims are Minorities their rights are respected and protected".

Romance / 11 Visible Differences Between Real Friends And Fake Friends by Yarnvibes(f): 8:58am On May 21, 2017
Friendship is one of the best aspects of life. That said, certain friends are certainly much better than others. A real friend and fake friend can be hard to distinguish, but they are very different! Real friends are people you can go to for anything. You know they will always be on your side, through thick and thin. Fake friends might as well be scum of the Earth for all the support they will give you. Use this guide to figure out if your friends are your real friends!

1. Support you in all your endeavors

A real best friend will encourage you with anything that you try! Whether it be taking up square dancing, or changing your career path, a real friend will be there every step of the way.

2. Love your dorky personality

We all have those dorky things we do on a regular basis. A real friend loves those things! In fact, if they are a true real friend they just might join in with you!

3. Forgive you for anything

Sometimes you royally screw up. With fake friends, a mistake can cost you a friendship. Real friends will know that sometimes you’ll mess up. They will forgive you because they value your friendship more than your (temporary) mistake.

4. Always have your back

It isn’t a matter of who is on the other side, what the issue is, or if you’re in the wrong – a real friend will stand by you no matter what. They always are on your side and will fight for you with no questions asked. That’s just what a real friend does!

5. Let you explore your interests

As we grow, we discover new interests, and sometimes they seem very unlike ourselves! Fake friends will make fun of you and tell you to stick to the status quo. *cue High School Musical song* A real friend will let you do your thing and encourage you to explore this new part of yourself.

6. Know all your little quirks

We all have little quirks about ourselves (IE: we are cranky in the morning, we get flirtatious when drunk, we eat too many dinner rolls, etc.) that only our true friends know about. No one else knows you quite like your real friends. The fact that they notice those little quirks about you is a good sign!

7. They constantly keep in contact

Fake friends will only contact you when they need something or want to know some juicy gossip. Real friends will contact you wherever and whenever because they are always interested in what’s going on in your life. They don’t have to know the latest gossip about your relationship. They might just want to know what you had for lunch today.

8. They keep your secrets

If you can trust anyone to not gossip around town about your dark little secrets, it’s your real friends. Fake friends will treat your secrets like it’s nothing sacred. A real friend values your confidence, and will not tell anyone.

9. Don’t have to dress to impress

If you have to put on really nice clothes, do your hair, and make sure that you smell nice just to hang out – then you know you have fake friends. A true friend will let you come over in sweatpants with unwashed hair. The worst they might do is make a joke, but they won’t really care at all. They just want to spend time with you. Real friendship is measured in how gross you can look when you hang out!

10. They make time for you

It doesn’t matter if they only have an hour between work and their pottery class, a real friend will let you come over for a drink any time. It isn’t a matter of time, it’s a matter of they want to spend time with you, rather than having time to themselves.

11. Always have a shoulder to cry on

A big difference between real and fake friends is how they deal with your ups and downs. If you’re feeling down, a fake friend will pat you awkwardly on the shoulder and try to change the subject. Your real friends will wrap you in their arms and listen to you blubber all night, if you want them to. Real friends are there for you, whether you’re happy or sad.

If you’re trying to decide whether your friends are genuine or not, hopefully this guide helped you decipher which kind of friends you surround yourself with! It’s time to get real.
