The British Airways has taken to Twitter to react to Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh’s claim of Nigerians importing pizza into the country. Recall, Audu Ogbeh appeared before a senate committee on agriculture in Abuja to defend his ministry’s budget for 2019, disclosed that there are Nigerians who import pizza from London using their phones. The Minister who lamented over the “very annoying” rate at which Nigerians import goods from abroad, said these Nigerians import pizza from London which will be flown in by British Airways and picked up at the airport the following day He said: “Do you know, sir, that there are Nigerians who use their cellphones to import pizza from London; they buy in London and bring it on British Airways in the morning to pick up at the airport. It is a very annoying situation and we have to move a lot faster in cutting down some of these things. Toothpick every year costs us 18 million dollars; tomato paste costs us 400 million dollars. Meanwhile, a basket of tomatoes is less than N2,000.” READ ALSO: Banky W pays his family a surprise visit, their reaction is just priceless However British Airways who reacted to Audu Ogbeh’s claim of importing pizza from London to Nigeria, wrote; Did someone say free pizza? Why is igbo politics always centered around waiting for and punishing supposed “betrayers”?

You’ve been waiting to punish yorubas since 2015 but you keep failing and failing, your only politics for the 9th assembly is to “punish” yorubas

Your 2023 politics is also to “punish” yorubas

Are you saying that no matter the performance of Ifeanyi Ubah in the Senate, you will punish him in 2023, regardless of the capacity of his opponent and his own performance in the next 4 years?

Very foolish politics I tell you!

- The vice president said the he discovered he is so much richer than the president when he saw his assets declaration form in 2015 - Osinbajo added that the president is perhaps poorer now than he was in 2015 Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday night, March 14, said that President Muhammadu Buhari was probably poorer than when he was elected in 2015. The Nation reports that the vice president said this during a dinner in honour of volunteers who canvassed for votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the campaigns for the 2019 general election at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. He said: “When I looked at his assets declaration form, I was checking it in 2015, I said to him, “Mr President, I am so much richer than you, it is an embarrassment.” “He said, “I am only a soldier, you are a big lawyer so you should have more money than me.” “I can tell you that he is perhaps; even poorer than he was in 2015 when I saw his declaration of assets form.” READ ALSO: Just In: APC removes giant broom at Abuja City Gate Speaking on the supplementary elections taking place in six states on March 23, Osinbajo urged Nigerians to vote for APC. “We are still not done with the elections. “On the 23rd of March, we still have some outstanding states and as you know we are re-running in about six states. “And all of the efforts we need to put into those six states, we still need to do. “We can’t afford to slack off and say the job is done; we still have some things to do,” Osinbajo said. Also speaking at the event, the APC woman leader, Salamatu Eluma, commended the volunteers for believing in the vision of President Buhari and Vice President Osinbajo and working for their re-election. She was kind of right. Invite Ibo to come and eat and they will hold your own hand.

Yoruba in Lagos and south west brought Jonathan to power through our demonstration when the cabal will not let him comes in from the position of vice president. The moment Jonathan entered the Ibo took over his government as if it's an Igbo government.

We Yoruba fought for this democracy, our sons and daughters died for it. I remember Kudi abiola was murdered, pa Alfred a southern friend was murdered, simbiat adedeji was killed in broad daylight, Frank kokori another southern friend, adesanya almost lost his life, Gani fewehinmi was in and out of detention, sowore a SUG president in unilag ran overseas, Tinubu, Dele momodu etc ran overseas, Saro wiwa another southern friend was hanged for no reason but in all this no Ibo casualty.

All this time where were the Igbo or ndigbo? I forgot they were romancing abacha . Who organised the 2 million march for abacha ? An Igbo man kanu . Who went to court to stop election of abiola ? An Igbo man . Tell me just one Ibo political elite that fought for this democracy or the one that ran overseas as a result of opposing military rule ? There's just none of them.

Trust an Ibo man at your own risk.

Only a slowpoke will not differ with Buhari's unconstitutionality. Nigeria is not a jungle. INEC Chairman is following the rule of law. There is stipulated punishment for ballot box snatching which is two years imprisonment without option of fine. What Buhari said was tantamount to killing a fly with a sledgehammer. I condemn election rigging or violence in its entirety. Buhari goofed on this. He should apologize to Nigerians for this rascality.

PoliticsAmerican Journalist Suggests Atiku Paid $540,000 To Get Into US by yashau(op): 7:48am On Jan 23, 2019
Judd Legum, a journalist and former research director of the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign, says Atiku Abubakar paid as much as $540,000 to get his way into the US.

In his article titled “What does a $1.1 million lobbying contract buy in Trump’s Washington?” Legum said the Peoples Democratic Party’s deal with Brian Ballard, a top lobbyist with deep connections to the Trump administration, was instrumental to Atiku’s trip.

Atiku’s spokesman, Paul Ibe, did not pick calls or reply messages sent to his phone to comment on the report.

In November 2018, TheCable had exclusively reported that Atiku’s party, the PDP, signed a deal with Ballard to enhance US-Nigeria relations, with a focus to “maintaining political and security conditions free of intimidation and interference”.

“It shall be the Firm’s duty to consult with the Client and advocate on its behalf those issues the client deems necessary and appropriate before the US Federal government,” contract papers seen by TheCable read.

“Issues and objectives may include, but not be limited to, enhancement of US Nigerian relations; strengthening and advancing democratic values and the rule of law in Nigeria, with a special focus in the coming months on maintaining political and security conditions free of intimidation and interference in order to ensure the success and fairness of Nigeria’s national election for president in 2019.”

Atiku, the former vice-president of Nigeria, had not visited the US for 12 years and the leading opposition party mocked him for it.

Legum said “a former U.S. government official confirmed to Popular Information that Abubakar was formally barred from obtaining a visa pursuant to a presidential proclamation targeting corrupt foreign officials”.

He said the corruption allegations against Atiku are detailed in a 2010 bipartisan report by the U.S. Senate, “KEEPING FOREIGN CORRUPTION OUT OF THE UNITED STATES: FOUR CASE HISTORIES.”

He said Atiku was also implicated in the investigation of William Jefferson, the former Congressman who is serving a 13-year sentence for corruption, although the PDP candidate has repeatedly denied all allegations of corruption in the report and has never been charged for any criminal offence.

PRESIDENTIAL PROCLAMATION 7750
Before 2018, Atiku had spoken openly about his inability to secure a US visa.

He said in December 2017: “It is the sole prerogative of America to determine who they want in their country or not. I’m not running away from America. I applied, but wasn’t issued a visa.”

Legum added that Atiku’s inability to enter the US may be as a result of the Presidential Proclamation 7750 signed by President George Bush, which bans entry for current and former corrupt foreign officials — especially those whose corruption has a nexus in the country.

“The US government does not publicly disclose why individuals are denied visas. But a former government official who has seen the documentation confirmed to Popular Information that Abubakar, until very recently, was banned from obtaining a US visa under Proclamation 7750,” he wrote.

He said this led Atiku’s team into hiring Ballard, who chaired the Trump Victory Organization in Florida and “lobbied on behalf of the Trump Organization in the state for more than a decade.”

He said the contract required an immediate payment of $270,000 with another $270,000 due in late December 2018.

“A month later, Atiku is in the US — and back in Nigeria for a stronger campaign for the presidency,” Legum wrote.

“Now Abubakar is back in Nigeria, buoyed by his trip to the United States as his campaign enters its final days. His campaign slogan is Trumpian: ‘Let’s get Nigeria working again.'”

- Fashola made this claim while responding to alleged reports that he once said a serious government would fix power sector challenges within six months - The minister maintained he was misquoted during the inauguration of the Lekki Independent Power Project when he was governor of Lagos state The minister of power, works and housing, Babatunde Fashola, on Wednesday night, December 13, denied some rumours that claimed that he recently declared that the federal government would fix power problems within six months. The Punch reports that Fashola debunked the alleged reports at the Nextier Power Dialogue, Abuja, while responding to questions that he once said a serious government would fix power sector challenges within six months. The minister said: “I have the video of what I said and where I said it and I think it was in 2014 in the run-off to the election and I was in Lekki, Lagos.” He explained that the comment was made during the inauguration of the Lekki Independent Power Project when he was governor of Lagos state. Fashola added that his statement had to do with the connection of residents of Lekki to the IPP within six months if the state government had received the approval to do so. The Banyana Banyana Miracle

Nigeria met South Africa in the semi-final of the 2016 AWCON in Cameroon on November 29th and their paths since then could not have been more different. While Banyana Banyana has been very active and has improved considerably, the Super Falcons have been in the wilderness and have declined.

Sponsorship
Change began for South Africa in 2009 when energy giant Sasol signed on to sponsor Banyana Banyana and the South African Women’s Football League. Since then the company has pumped a lot of money into the development of women’s football in South Africa.

Banyana Banyana and the South African Women’s League are sponsored by South African energy giant, Sasol.
The South Africans had two main goals, (1) to qualify for the World Cup and (2) to beat Nigeria.

The four dominant teams in African women’s football are Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana and South Africa and the South Africans are the one of the four that has never qualified for the World Cup until now.
Sponsorship from Sasol meant that the South African FA (SAFA) could hire a Dutch coach, Vera Pauw, in 2014 and she led Banyana Banyana to the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Vera Pauw retired after the Olympics and SAFA hired former Banyana Banyana player, Desiree Ellis in 2016.

Friendlies
Sasol’s sponsorship has also meant that Banyana Banyana have been able to play lots of friendlies and host lots of competitions. Straight after the 2016 Nations Cup (November/December 2016), the South Africans played against France in Reunion on January 22nd, 2017. They lost 0-2.

South Africa also played AWCON qualifying matches against Lesotho in June 2018. They won 0-1 away at Lesotho and 6-0 at home to qualify for the AWCON.

South Africa hosted the COSAFA Women’s Championship in September 2018. The tournament featured Southern African teams, with Uganda and Cameroon taking part as guests. Banyana Banyana defeated Madagascar, Botswana and Malawi in the group stage and defeated Uganda in the semi-final. They defeated Cameroon 2-1 in the final to lift the cup.

Banyana Banyana captain, Janine Van Wyk, sacrificed her career with the Houston Dash to return to South Africa and play in the COSAFA Championship. She had played for Banyana for a long time and her last remaining goal was to help the team to qualify for the World Cup. She was prepared to do everything to ensure that Banyana Banyana qualified for the World Cup. She won her 150th cap with Banyana Banyana at the COSAFA Championship. She is now the most capped South African player ever (man or woman).

Foreign based players

There are two advantages that Nigeria has always had over other African countries; (1) Nigeria has had a women’s league since 1990 and the league has been running continuously since then, which means that the players have been active (2) Nigerian female players have played in clubs all over the world (Europe, China, the US, Australia, etc.) and have thus gained a lot of experience. The South Africans were determined to narrow this gap.

Sasol’s sponsorship of the league has ensured that South African women’s football clubs have had more money to invest in youth development, better training facilities and it has also ensured that the league has been running continuously.

South Africa’s very experienced captain, Janine Van Wyk, moved to Houston Dash in the US National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) in 2017 and South Africa’s former coach, Vera Pauw, became coach of the club soon afterwards. It was therefore no surprise that fellow South Africans, Thembi Kgatlana and Linda Mothlalo were signed by Houston in 2018.

These three players, Thembi Kgatlana, Janine Van Wyk and Linda Mothlalo have played a huge role in South Africa’s success at this Nations Cup and I believe that their performance has improved partly because of the experience they’ve gained by playing in the NWSL, which is one of the best leagues in the world.

Janine Van Wyk sacrificed her career at Houston to return home to help Bnayana Banyana prepare properly for the Nations Cup. She believed that this was her last chance to play at the World Cup and she was determined to do everything possible to ensure that South Africa qualified for the World Cup for the first time ever.

South Africa has achieved their two objectives at this Nations Cup. They have qualified for the World Cup and they have beaten Nigeria.
