In addition to the above, I think you should add labels to your form elements - When I don't fill it out properly, I get the errors alright but I the text inside each box is gone and so I don't remember what info should go where. |
greenmouse: Just because one day, I choose to eat rice and the other day, I choose to eat amala doesn't mean that both shouldn't be pleasant to the eye on different days...even if I am eating them 6 months apart ![]() |
This site looks better than the one from yesterday - thumbs up! |
Maybe you should change the font used, to something like Arial. The one that is there now isn't that friendly to my eyes, and perhaps the eyes of others ![]() Luckily, you used CSS so changing it, should you choose to, will not be a painful experience. |
@ribechi There are 3 options, which you can see from their page. I chose the default ($150) as I figured though I don't want the low end, I definitely don't want the high end ![]() @soloqy So true ![]() @datingsoftware Thanks |
home page: bad english: "All-encompassing quality services at a reasonable rates " make use of drop shadows to properly demarcate b/w slide show and divisions on the page contact page: phone number field not validating properly |
Does the database still exist? Have you changed passwords by chance? Has it been hacked and/or deleted? Just some of the possibilities you might want to consider. Worse case scenario: reinstall the SMF and its associated database. Good luck! |
The future depends on you and your ability to attract users which in turn will attract ads and/or sell it to a bigger company. Good luck! |
It's a good idea. I would start now to get sponsors, book media outlets, set criteria, etc. Good luck! I look forward to watching it on TV ![]() |
You sure can turn any design into a joomla template. You just need to have the patience and know-how, with respect to customization. The first thing I do is get the client to approve all possible variations of their sites pages (typically no more than 3 - 1 home page and 2 inner pages). I then "cut up" the pages to fit the template I want to create. Again, it can be time-consuming but it sure can be done. Good luck! |
hmm, r u sure that website you quoted is a joomla site? I personally doubt that is the case. All the same, google abounds with various sites offering templates. Be careful though, as not all of them ensure a secure website. |
Whether you code a site for N1 or N1m, the quality shouldn't waiver, IMHO. I would get rid of the "owner login" and send the owner an email with the direct link to that. You don't want any nefarious persons gaining access to that, if you know what I mean. Good luck! |
^^^ He he, there I have a friend in my locale. I call him Mr. Green eyes. Why? Because all he sees is dollar bills. Even if I wrote a 200-word paragraph and buried the reference to $1 after the 137th line and wrote something totally off point, boiz go kuku find d $1 reference. Scary! |
No worries. Remember, you can still do it manually, though updating will be a pain. The "easy" part of it is that, as long as you have a letter that has a count greater than 1, and this value never goes below 1, you only have to deal with hardcoding once ![]() Again, good luck! |
You are going to need to use a back end language (PHP, JSP, Ruby on Rails, etc) for this, but I am sure you already knew that. Of course you could do this in HTML but trust me, the maintenance factor will be hell. To get this done (at least this is how I would do it. Not to say it's the best approach. Others, feel free to chime in), you will need to: 1) Write a fxn that runs a query for the occurrence of each letter you have there 2) Return a boolean for the result (true if count is > 1. false otherwise) 3) Run this fxn against each printed letter. If result is true, add, say, a CLASS name to the element enclosing each letter. Else, do nothing. You could use the ternary operator for simplicity, like so: <a href="#"<?php echo ($isCount()) ? " class='active'" : ""; ?>>A</a> Note: 1) My code isn't guaranteed to work - I haven't run it. What you see is merely for demonstrative purposes (focus on the logic and not the code) 2) There are probably better ways to do this. Again, in the absence of other responses, focus on the logic. Good luck! |
I hope you still can. I last did this, maybe 5 years or so ago. A designer had showed me how. If google is anything to go by and trust, you still might be able to use photoshop to do it. I just did a search and it returned thousands of hits. Give it a try and report back to us. |
I remember doing this in photoshop many, many moons ago. It was one of the font types. |
^^^ hey man, if I could get even 1 million pages at $5 each, I would have N800m, at the current exchange rate. This would be the best temporary business one could ask for ![]() |
^^^ It comes once in a blue moon ![]() |
^^^ He he 1) If I was actually serious about this, I wouldn't post it here, trust me ![]() 2) Considering there are millions of website and millions more of web pages, I am sure the market would be such that there is plenty to go around for everyone. |
^^^ When Serena or Venus Williams are merely practicing before a game, they don't knock the balls carelessly just because they are practicing. No! They play just as hard, so they are always in rhythm. Whether you are coding cos you have nothing better to do or cos it's the real thing, always do it well!! Nice Joomla customization (not that there's anything wrong with using Joomla or any other CMS). Add more pictures to give it a personal touch and add a module for online giving. Good luck! |
^^^ he he, I am actually developing a lesson series as we speak. Hopefully it is something I can start up soon. Pray for me in this regard that if it's meant to be, that it happens soonest ![]() |
^^^ "Invalid combination of username and paswword" Since I am in a relatively good mood, despite a pounding headache, I will allow you one more chance to get it right. This is as opposed to spewing you with lava and hot ash ![]() |
You guys have either probably done this already or know about this. Either way, I figured I share it with you regardless, to see what I do in my "spare" time, he he. I googled for "untitled document", to see how many sites out there have "untitled document" in their title bar. 53.1 million results in google? Wow! Hmm, speaking of original business ideas, I wonder if I could make money simply pitching to companies that they are better off with something in their TITLE bar and I am just the person for the job. At $10 a pop, if i could get just 100,000 sites of those sites to agree, I be millionaire be that, no b so? ![]() |
Update: I didn't fill out any of the fields for signing up and hit the submit button. I then got an error message saying that the username I chose has already been taken. The kicker? The content of the username field says, "New username / Nickname" - does this mean that someone is actually registered with the username "New username / Nickname"? ![]() |
Suggestion for the future: Whenever you invite people to test a site that involves logging in, it probably wouldn't hurt to provide a few test accounts. I for one don't have the time to fill out every single required field and register for a site that I will more than likely only visit once. |
^^^ In addition to the above: 1) I hear that in Nigeria, you better charge 75% up front. After all, even tailor expects 100% up front. Why not you? 2) Even with an advance payment, how much are you charging over all? If for example you charge 100K, paying in 2 installments of 50K each, wetin b 50K and how long will that last you, spending-wise, until you get the final payment? Good luck! |
<img width="129" height="100" border="2" alt="Web Design Nigeria" src="../siteimges/img1.jpg">Let's start with the above image and do some reverse engineering, shall we? 1) What does the above tag mean? Thanks for asking: It means that the image will be in the "siteimages" folder, relative to where you are on the site. Since I got that tag from the home page, it means that it will be in the /siteimages/public_html/ folder. Do you see what is wrong with the way you have it here? I surely hope so. 2) I also tried removing the ".." so that the image would be "absolute" referenced from the server, regardless of where you are but alas! Your "siteimages" folder either doesn't exist or it does but not directly under "public_html" 3) Finally, I modified the tag like so: <img width="129" height="100" border="2" alt="Web Design Nigeria" src="img1.jpg">Voila! The image showed up. This tells me that you uploaded all your images to the root (public_html) of your server...Not a good judgement call. Suggestions: 1) If "siteimages" folder doesn't exist, create it and move all your images there. Then, reference your images like so: <img width="129" height="100" border="2" alt="Web Design Nigeria" src="/siteimges/img1.jpg">This is just the "ABC" of folder organization. If I were teaching a class, I would have an intermediate section where I would teach you stuff like why it is a good thing to group similar images in different folders. For now, what I am saying here will suffice. 2) If you are not using them currently, I strongly suggest you start using firefox and its firebug extension. Good luck! |
You might want to consider spicing it up with a library like jQuery Mobile or technology like SenchaTouch. Of course, there are a boatload of others. These 2 are just the one I would personally recommend, based on experience. Good luck! |
he he, dual core good o. I am just wondering when he will upgrade to quad core ![]() |
^^^True or false, it's unnecessary knit-picking IMHO. Let's focus on the main reason why I posted this, which isn't, "how to get rich like Linda or Seun" but, "how you can pick a thing or two about how they approach their trade, apply it to what you and **hopefully** become successful while doing it" |
I have 3 and for the life of me, I can't find the link to check them out. Help! ![]() |
