I am sure there are others but I have used hostmonster since 2005 and have had no disappointments. Check them out: hostmonster.com I think, all in all, you might need to start backing up your code, taking a hit, and looking elsewhere. |
but their site says unlimited space, unlimited bandwidth, etc. When did you sign up with them? Their site says if you have a 30-day, no questions asked, money back guarantee. If you are within the limits, maybe it's high time you took advantage of it ![]() |
Maybe they had a "hiccup" at the time? I would contact them to find out. Though unacceptable, it does happen. I checked out the company website and it does appear that they are on the up-and-up. Contact them and report back what they tell you. |
Nna, the way things are these days, there is probably such a plan, you just don't know because it is part of the fine print. For example, the ad could run like so: N5000 for 10 years hosting". Tucked inside the document you sign, which you probably don't read, is where it says 20 visitors. On a serious note though, it is bizarre. Bottomline, always read the fine print and deal with a reputable company, irrespective of cost (within reason of course) |
u sure poster didn't sign up for the cheapest option he could find? Am just saying, there are 2 sides to a coin ![]() |
hmmm, DHTML (allegedly) switching to programming, pc_guru thinking of going freelance. Hmmm. Hmmmm. |
A toad doesn't jump in the broad daylight for nothing. If you see an old lady running real fast during the day, it's either because her grand child is missing or because she can't find her snuff box. There is more to this than meets the eye. Stay tuned ![]() |
A much cleaner, albeit some may argue, a little convoluted, way of doing it would be 1) you have 1 extra var: sessionValidText (for lack of a better name). 2) as part of your sniffing, if session exists and isn't null, you populate this sessionValidText with <p><a>view</a></p> else, with <p>view</p> 3) Your code would then simply print the var, like so: echo $sessionValidText Advantages: 1) more readable: cleaner 2) more maintainable: little or no spaghetti code 3) absctraction: you separate logic (php) from content (html). This leads back to #2 good luck! |
1) Nothing on portfolio page 2) Typo on image: typo: http://www.biscomedia.com/COMM.gif 3) Training page: huge gap between header and content 4) Contact page: Doesn't validate well - I am taken to http://www.response-o-matic.com/mail.php for a process that is too long 5) General: You are using HTML pages which tells me you probably are not taking advantage of includes. Bad for maintenance Conclusion: I think you need to take care of at least #1 if you want to build a client base, even, "for a dirty cheap price" Good luck! |
I have a little issue. My login script works on my local server but when I upload it doesnt gives an error that Username and Password is incorrect. The answer is right there. @poster What is your username, password, and hostname on your local server? What is your username, password and hostname on the actual server that will be hosting the files? I bet you they are not the same. I have dealt with situations where whereas my hostname is localhost, that of the actual server is say, Bleep.yyy.com. Answer the above 2 questions b4 I proceed. |
Well, well, well. I guess you guys have scared him to the point where he now has a sign on his site that reads, "site under construction". Kudos to you all. 1) Those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. A pot shouldn't call a kettle black. Let he without "sin" cast the first stone. I bet you his "dirty cheap" sites look and/or function better than those of some of the posters here. 2) As a capitalist, I am not against the price. I just hope it covers all his cost at the end of the day and that most importantly, his clients are happy with what they get. N5K is about $35, give or take. That won't even fill my tank. Secondly, I would rather do 1 site a month for 100K each than do 100 websites at 5K each. Time is money. Girlz no wan stress. We should talk to him this way. The way you present an argument goes a long way in determining how the listener receives (and most importantly, acts) on it. Remember, there are those who can only afford okirika (second-hand), there are those who can afford open-air market, there are those who can afford supermarket and there are those who will only shop in a place if the prices are in thousands. So let's cut the guy some slack. |
@askphantom Roaming the earth, north to south and east to west, in search of that lucrative web dev project that will inch me one step closer to early retirement ![]() |
I turn it off when testing forms to see if they have back and front end validation. I also turn it off to see if my code gracefully degrades. Other than that, I think it is heresy to even think of turning it off as probably 99% of all apps out there use it in one form or the other. |
Let's leave it at that then. If need be, you can bring it offline. |
Hmm, I thought the whole point of a radio button is that you click only one value which means that all names are to be the same. I guess I am missing something ![]() I would have imagined in your database, you have one table for radio button names (for lack of a better word) and another that has a 1-to-1 relationship between a value and the name of the radio button, at the very least. In other words: table 1 would be: tbl_radio_groups { 1: food 2: cars } and table 2 would be: tbl_radio_options { amala: 1 ewedu: 1 hummer: 2 camry: 2 } Then in your php, you just query both tables where the unique ID of one is equal to the sec. ID of the other and loop accordingly. Again, I guess I am missing something. What do I know? ![]() |
Madam, try that in the contact area and see if such will happen. On the internet, I have the right of way. You don't and can't tell me what I should click on your site ![]() Your welcome |
There r many ways to learn: 1) OYO (videos, online, etc) 2) School 3) Paying someone, outside of a school 4) Apprenticeship There is no one ultimate way. Everyone is different. Besides, if the guy is willing to pay, it is his money and he can do whatever he wants with it. Just pray that he gets an actual good teacher, as opposed to alaye, that's all. I personally can't read for long on a screen so w3schools is out for me. I prefer a school environment where I interact with others, but that's just me. Of course, whatever I learn in school, I reinforce with a combination of (printed) online tutorials, books and interacting with others. @poster, if i were in Lagos, i would take you on. Pray this happens soon as having studied the web dev environment in Nigeria generally, and I say this having asked people living in different cities, not even aptech and niit are doing that good of a job. Again, I speak generally and based on my own research. @donpuzo: I selected a plan on your site above and entered "asdf"as both a name and email address and surprisingly, there is no email validation. Isn't this one of the things you will be teaching your students? Hmm ![]() |
It's about time one of the old timers (no offense ) returned and graced us with their mature websites and hopefully with some knowledge as well.Other than the fact that I find (and I speak as a developer, not a designer) the site a bit dark, I like what I see. I will come back to it later. This is just a 30,000-foot view |
@ign1tew3b - ur comment #15 has made the most sense so far. Keep it up with that level of thinking please. |
Which is why I asked in the first place, how do you define "I am #1". Obviously, everyone is going to say that, as a marketing ploy and there is nothing wrong with that but, again, technically/legally speaking, how do you define it? |
The only companies that can clam that title would be I add Unotech Media to this list, the guys are going places. So what determines #1 status? 1) Type of clients? 2) Number of websites churned out in a year? 3) Annual income/net profit? 4) Size of company (number of employees)? 5) Stock price (where applicable)? I mean, you can't just blurt out "we are #1" or "they are #1" without setting determinants. For example, A could do 20 sites in a year, at an average price of N50K whereas B does one site for N1m. Who do you think would be #1 in this case? I say B. I personally would go with #3, by the way. |
@dhtml yawatide is 37, with 15 years of coding so wetin you dey talk. Abeg drop d diaper, go pick up pata e jo ![]() |
