Didn't know that but what does that have to do with Ibori or anyone else for that matter? I would assume that it is a self-generating venture with respect to income, unless you are saying that the whole operation was just an avenue for money laundering. If this is the case, too bad, so sad. It was a good online news source for me. |
It has been down for at least 2 months. They can't afford to pay their hosting bill? If you know, or know anyone who knows, please do share. I have been visiting that site since 2007 and even because of the quality of its news and even though it is down, I still visit the URL daily peradventure the site happens to return: http://www.independentngonline.com/ |
Why the bloody alert boxes? My point: what happens if javascript is disabled by default, as is the case with some blackberries? Can the site still function without them? If yes, why have them? Think about that |
When all you have is a hammer, you tend to think that everything you see is a nail. Yes, it is good to master 1 or 2 CMS tools but it is good to at least know the essentials of others, just in case. GTBank uses joomla? If true, I think that is a serious mistake on their part. Mission critical apps should always be built from the ground up, IMHO |
Eh heh, I just remembered that a buddy of mine also created his own version, Kolejo: http://www.webjadesolutions.com/kolejo.php |
@poster I just went to your site to contact you but there is a lot of stuff spinning and I guess I was distracted. Missing files maybe? There is nothing in the top orange area where I would have expected to see some sort of navigation. Also, I was just about to leave the site when I finally located the contact info, "hidden" behind the image of the globe. Why is that globe image there again? Oh, by the way, the large orange area on the left is still featuring 3 sections that do nothing but spin ![]() |
@Donpuzo no vex o! I wasn't ranting and raving at you. I guess I should have used some kind of emoticon to show that I was just kidding ![]() @basking: If it is indeed bi-lingual, why not do what I would say is standard by offering the choice via buttons or links? Why mix the 2 up? Can you imagine visiting say, uefa.com and seeing over 10 languages on the home page, in the name of being "multi-lingual"? Be consistent and offer the users an option to switch. Don't force it on them. That's all I am saying ![]() Sorry for digressing by the way. I just couldn't help but notice the flaw. |
Meanwhile, Mrs Yawatide, have you read that book. Please do if you haven't its Great!Nope and I don't have to read a book to tell me what is common sense, granted to some people, not all sense is common. |
Here is the word "The Ogbonge People wey design dis one na we for King of CMS Consulting"Regardless of whether this was an implicit attempt at being funny or if the client approved, I find this rather unprofessional. If this is some in-house experimental site or the site is legit but hasn't officially launched then I am willing to cut some slack though. |
As I have said here in the past, with the right "swee tongue", the first person to convince Nigerian IT companies of the need for QA will make billions. It's about time we developed software with an acceptable bug rate of less than 5% |
Mr. Art Director! ![]() |
![]() I see. You are then posting off topic, per the original post ![]() |
@uche: You did nigeriaworld.com? Wow! I finally "meet" the person who did the site that I have been visiting daily for at least 5 years ![]() kudos! |
So, out of curiosity, I am forced to parse your original message: You first state that you can't access the email, then you say both birthday and email. Which is it? Also, out of curiosity, why does your query have the following columns in it: first_name, last_name, name: I get first and last name, but "name"? Please forgive me if it actually exists - I haven't written any FB apps, that's all. Finally, have you verified that the columns you seek actually are named that way? I say all of the above to say this: Maybe you have added extra columns such that, just like an array, you are trying to access info in columns that don't actually exist. good luck with your debugging. |
Firefox issues a "harmful website" warning for: http://www.medivacompany.com/ |
My way of managing and keeping to technology, is not makinng use of it, at it's prime. Most times, you get to rush into a test version and also be the one to experience loop hole. Which in most cases could cost one a lot. This summarizes it all. Just like your web hosts will not update say, Joomla, when a new version comes out until they are comfortable that it is stable, we are not to rush into things, just because. While learning about it and knowing how to use it, we are to do just that. What I intend to do, once I am comfortable enough in the fact that it is at least usable is carve out some space on my site and devote it to what I have learned. That way, if a recruiter asks me for proof that I know what's up, I just point them to that section of my site. It sure is better than the proverbial, waiting till you have N10m before you start building a house ![]() |
You have 2 options: 1) Build your html5/css3 websites but such that those with older browsers will see a basic site (in other words, your site should degrade gracefully, OR 2) Sniff the browser and present a youtube-like suggestion for older browsers to go to a non html5/css3 site. Of course, knowing me, I prefer #1. There are numerous sites that are coded with html5/css3. Remember, when the CSS-style sites first came out, it was like that. One person has to take a leap and the others will follow, to survive competition. Here is something interesting though: At work during our last meeting, someone came up with research that stated that browsing via mobile devices has doubled over the last 2 years and will double moving forward. Suggestion: we are first to code for mobile devices (iphone style or 320x240) before even thinking of desktops. My first reaction is to kick against this but hey, in order to remain marketable, I guess I have no choice. I remember having the same reservations about tableless-design. |
dont be sarcastic in your judgements, things happen1) My comments were NOT a judgement 2) If you don't want me to be sarcastic, then post sites that are ACTUALLY UP AND RUNNING. What? You thought people wouldn't click on the link? By the way, as at the time of this writing, IT IS STILL NOT WORKING. Is this unsarcastic enough for you? |
STRONG suggestion: Read the book, "Don't make me think" by Steve Krug then, based on what you read, redo the site and come back asking for crucifixion. HONEST, "Don't take it personal" comment: Crucifixion would be too mild a punishment for this site. |
@pc: It happens more than you may think. My official policy is, "Don't ask, don't tell". As long as the pay is right, compared to my peers, who send d rest? Na when I enter job wey e go be say, you go ask, "So do you know Bleep?" and I go say, "hmm, I haven't dabbled in that for a while, let me see". It is always better to be the unassuming type. the more you say you know, for the same pay, the more is expected of you ![]() |
@basking: I guess you didn't get it. The UN does things for free, and doesn't expect anything in return. They survive off the contributions of member countries. They are basically a one-way street. You get it now? ![]() |
Wow! The United Nations is hiring |
That "users online stuff", I don't quite dig - when I go to a site and see, "1 guest online", it gives me the impression that the site sucks and I immediately quit it. Perception they say, is reality. |
Insider knowledge info has it that all unotech did was the layout/actual design. They had nothing to do with the actual coding of the site, as their blog would lead you to believe. Definitely better than the old version. Hopefully dem clean mouth well well for d project |
@freeman: super nice layout (as at the time of this writing). I mean, I particularly liked the plesk control panel logo. And the "page not found"? Superb! I need to apprentice with you. Good job!! |
1) Are these 2 pages part of the same site? http://www.myjobmag.com/jobs.php http://www.myjobmag.com/readjob/1/jobs/telecommunications-engineer-ca-global 2) I guess someone forgot to strip out html chars from their text area input: http://www.myjobmag.com/readjob/1/jobs/telecommunications-engineer-ca-global3) Contact form doesn't work with javascript turned off (yes, I have a blackberry that turns of javascript by default so don't ask, "who in the world turns off javascript these days anyway?" ![]() 4) document.getElementById(fn) is null on line 70 of myjobmag.com/read.js for page http://www.myjobmag.com/post.php 5) Subscribe for free job alert section, you wrote: "If you like what we do, then show us some love" - Na babe you dey chyke? Sound professional Design: 100 Ad targeting: 100 Ease of Use: 90 (I always feel that even for my sites, there is chance for improvement, so nothing personal here) Functionality: You gotta work on this. I'll give you 50% for now |
He has 3 other sites with different links and DB.What he actually mean is, on the index page of the main site there's a Login button. But once user clicks on Login he should be redirected to the 3 Login pages of the other sites. Is it possible or can I do it individually?I think you have succeeded in confusing even yourself. This is not possible. Here is what is possible, though it still doesn't make sense from a usability standpoint. Either: 1) You have one point of entry and once you log in, based on your username, password and for example, access level, you are redirected either to another website or another section of the same website, OR 2) You log in on site A and remain on site A, then again, depending on access levels, the first screen upon successful login has 3 links (buttons, whatever) to the 3 different websites in question. |
1) It doesn't make sense to me for him to do what your original post says 2) Does he want the sign up pages to open in a new window? If yes, just use target="_blank" on the anchor tag, no need for javascript 3) Does he want the sign up pages to open in the same window? Again, remove the target. No javascript required. Either that or use iframes Bottomline, it doesn't make sense to do it the way you imply. Rather, each link should open the other pages individually and not all at once. Even if that is what he wanted, it would be very annoying for me to have 3 windows pop up on me, just for clicking a link. For one, I might think my computer is getting infected with a virus. Good luck! |
<a href="#" onclick="multiOpen();">open 3 sites</a>When calling js functions this way, always remember to add as the last part of your "onclick" call, "return false". This will prevent the page skipping to the top (as though it were a "back to top" link) in browsers like firefox ![]() |
@dual: I will insist that my kudos stand. Why? Because my praise isn't because the site is hack-proof but because of their response time. If the site gets hacked again, my next kudos will be for when the site is hack-proof. Deal? ![]() |
I believe the site is back up now. I am actually impressed. In typical Naija style, I expected the site to be in the hacked state till at least Monday. Kudos to the web team. |
