It is a good thing that these judges are actually afraid of the public. The current message is that "anything cannot go". Nigerians are watching these corrupt judges and the day of reckoning is soon not far

These Judges understand perfectly that they are being delibrately blackmailed & this make them more determined to adjudicate based on merit, in accordance with the evidence & the Law irrespective of who the Judgement favours or against..& whoever it is against will only gnash their teeth in agony & pain, nothing will happen to the Judges..

Politics / Re: Ministerial Appointments: Tinubu Not Fair To Igbos – Segun Showunmi by yemex04(m): 7:18am On Aug 10, 2023
Were the South Esterners fair to him during the elections... it is on record that 95% of their Votes went to one Candidate.. They got a fair share of what is constitutionally theirs. Moreover they are not complaining, because they do not even recognize Tinubu as their President.. When their Son's stolen mandate is restored they will take their own pound of flesh.

They are running to Ghana to setup factory there because of constant electricity they have there in Ghana (courtesy of Nigeria), whereas we in Nigeria don't have constant electricity.

@OP Don't fret, those products will still be in our markets just that they will no longer be manufactired here in Nigeria but in other African countries.

My brother, if you aren't bypassing your electricity prrepaid meter l am sure 7 out of 10 Nigerians using prepaid meters are bypassing it & yet you want the electricity to be stable? How?

You keep repeating the same point in different coinages in all the paragraphs of the article... albeit that's the only point you have and it's the fact that Peter Obi scored 25% in the FCT. But is that all the constitution said and is it the criterion for declaring anyone the winner of the presidential election in Nigeria? If that's the case then Tinubu and Atiku wouldn't be 1st and 2nd and he is 3rd.

I hope you are intelligent enough to understand my point...

How can you expect such a person understand my brother?..He is saying Obi is the only candidate who satisfied the constitutional requirement & at the same time saying he'd still have to prove he scored 25% in 24 States..What a contradiction! How did he now satisfy the constitutional requirement if there is still other condition to be met?

Very funny how so many people have made this a war between Nigeria & Niger..even if Nigeria is the most powerful of the ECOWAS States but still we need to remember ourselves that war or no war this clearly between the ECOWAS & NIGER's military junta.

The press release did not entirely oppose the use of force.. quoting them verbatim "We also take exception to use of the of military force until other avenues as mentioned above are exhausted"

The ECOWAS is already making use of the mentioned avenues hopefully they work & if not, am not expecting the ECOWAS to fold their arms and look away.

We are not the same. Falaye and buhari lost and I did not wish for military government, because the election was free and fair. Obi is not my prefered candidate either. If you want to discredit a military government, then prove to use that your democracy governemtn was not hijacked too...power hijack vs power hijack...same same same

1999 elections was free & fair? Wonderful!

You didn't advocate for millitary takeover because you didn't habour so much hate for OBJ & Buhari the winners of the referenced elections as much as you do for Tinubu the winner of 2023 election. The differential here is the word "hatred" Wether Obi was your prefered candidate i don't know but I am sure if your prefered candidate had won, you wouldn't be here advocating for a millitary take over.. that's double face.

Why can't election be conducted like election? why must we made election look like rocket science?

We are still saying the same thing.. If your prefered candidate had won the 2023 election, you won't be giving millitary coup a thought.. Because your candidate did not win them millitary is better!

I was old enough under wicked abacha and babangida.

Our quality of life was superb. I still remember the life we lived then. I thought democracy is to make us enjoy more. But NO, we get poorer and more oppressed than the military era.

These dictators only go after whoever fight them. They don't attack random people as you people painted them. If you don't critisize them, they have nothing on you.

But wait a minute...

Can you criticize a democratic president in Nigeria and DSS police and army will not knock and jail you?
Not much difference from your "send to prison"

at the bolded.
What you had been having was a life of palliatives.. i mean economics with cosmetics design consequences of which we are facing in the present generation.. The previous Governments( millitary & civilian) did a very poor work on our economics job by just spending the free monies without being productive enough for sustainable economic growths & it was quite easier because the population was very marginal/ against the resources..

Those african countries with military government are now stable and progressing. Bukinafaso, Mali, Abidjan and others have created economy zone thats working for them. They have bypassed US economy embago. They are trading with more than 10 non-western countries...Algeria, Egypt, China, Russia, South Americans and more.

IF its working for them, then we can go back to military...

Its obvious democracy is setting us back...ITS NOT WORKING

Ministerial List: Tinubu Is Very Unfair To This Man Who Did A Lot For Him

President Bola Tinubu has been unfair to Festus Keyamo who did a lot defending him day and night especially on the narcotics issue.

No first batch
No second batch
Is it because he lost his polling unit during the presidential election?

So everyone who supported him must be compensated with a ministerial appointment? There are many more positions which are equally as important or more important than minister that can still be filled.

Exactly. We have bad leaders in Democracy. That is why the people support and prefer military government.
Check all the six west African countries that have had military take over recently(Guinea, Mali, Burkina Faso, Sudan,Chad and our neighbour Niger). Their people appear happy with the military takeover. See the jubilation and looting in Niger. Why? Because the people are not happy with the bad leaders they had.

I pray Nigeria doesn't get to the level where people loose hope in Democracy and clamour for military government because I know military regime is bad.
Abacha's regime is still fresh in most people's mind!

Foreign Affairs / Re: Niger Coup Leaders Prohibit Citizens From Using Social Media by yemex04(m): 10:54am On Jul 31, 2023
Eriokanmi:
Most countries in Africa need a regime reset and Nigeria isn't an exception. Our leaders' excesses are just too much. NA alone is earning more than what 36 states put together are earning. Despite the economic downturn currently plaguing Nigeria, none of them had come out to say they want to cut down on the huge allocations accrued to them and their excesses. You see governors leaving power and retiring at the senate as if there are no competent citizens who can occupy the senate to represent their respective states.

A military coup would reset leadership here or better still, a revolution. Even those supporting their evil deeds are feeling the heat. They're only suffering and smiling.

I asked my business partner in Niger why their military had to do what they did , citing how their leader was so close to Nigeria and the immediate past administration. He said hed chat me later. He told me the man had committed a lot of atrocities since he was elected president and recently, he ordered the release of an alqaeda terrorist from prison, the move which had received the public condemnation. It won't be a bad thing if military should take over power in Nigeria and re-do things for us, including our useless constitution which favours only the elite. Afterdoing all these, they should arrest all of them and jail them, then restore our democracy by overseeing and conducting a free and fair election, then, return to barracks thereafter.

See our conversation below...

@the bolded..

Because power is sweet, they will never willingly return to Barracks once they have power... but I am sure there will always be coup after coup from one regime to the other

From whatever angle you want to see it, coup is never an option due to the greed of Africans..

Stop all these useless sentiment. The strike is long overdue. FG is not showing any commitment to the negotiation.

The subsidy became a big monster because they had always wanted to "put things in place" with no success forgetting that the saboteurs benefiting more from the subsidy will frustrate all such efforts... A good Leader will remain affirmative in a moment like this while making tough but right choices & I am not expecting Tinubu to look back given it is the right choice though difficult. Yes we are in it together, but I am ready to persevere.

As for the NLC, it will be the most unwise thing to do disobeying a subsisting court order without first setting aside same.. they will need the same court to protect them in the nearest future.

The same NLC leaders would want to run to the same court whose orders they intend to disobey to enforce their fundamental human right when they are charged for contempt of the court..

Moreover, the NLC leadership as constituted can not be entirely trusted because they visibly partisan.. the candidate they supported did not win the last election against the person at the helms of affairs now & so it won't be out of place if some of us think they are being sponsored by that same candidate of theirs..

Don't take my words for it. Just imagine that all I have told you is a lie but don't take my talking to your God as a lie most especially if you are a believer.

I am already living my life and have nobody to impress. Till this moment my family members are still expecting bad news for themselves not me but God has been so faithful and not because I am righteous, far from it but because I went into a covenant with him.

Do what your mind tells you.
Let the power of God prevail in your life. Because you are searching surely God will make you find a fitting spouse.

Good luck and good night!.

Which Gods grace exactly?

What has Gods grace got to do with raising kids well?

How does Gods grace give exemption?

Is being raised in a poor home the reason for low self esteem and being a menace to society?

Are poor nutrition and poor education the end of the world for a child and the parents of the child?

You didn't answer the question and neither has your comment negated a single word in my comment below.

It isn't sarcasm. It's not just a fact, it's the truth. Raising a family goes just beyond all these expectations u have. Whether u like it or not, many kids will be raised in poor homes where they don't have everything. What do you think keeps those families going?

Children being wayward isn't just a function of finances. It is a function of good values. A parent being poor does not necessarily mean he or she can't impart good values in their child.

So guy put away all these your idealistic theories. Life is more dynamic than that especially for parents/families.

How does the situation contribute to why Nigeria is poor?

How much does the govt do for poor families that you claim that is d reason why nigeria is poor?

Poor education, poor nutrition, low self esteem children & possible menace to the society.. while there can be exemption via God's Grace but at the same time "wisdom is profitable to direct" Wisdom demands that we cut our coats according to our sizes..

This is one major reason we have multiplicity of poor families & by implication a poor country. The same can be said for most African countries..

For example we are quick to compare ourselves with fellow oil producing countries like UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia.. These three countries produce more oil & yet with average of 6million population.. but we expect to have an equal high standard of living with theirs with our population of 200million people.. How? We need to face the reality, we are a poor country .

Politics / Clarification On The Electronic Transmission Of Results by yemex04(m): 11:30am On Jul 23, 2023
I think a clarification is needed on subject of electronic transmission of result & I would want those with the knowledge & operation of the election procedures & the electoral law to shed more light on this. My Question therefore goes thus; is the upload of photograghed form EC08 of INEC the same as Electronic transmission of results?

I recall during the 2019 elections where i was a Presiding Officer, we were mandated to enter & submit the votes scored by each political party into the card reader.. Was something similar done into the BVAS( which is the technological device used to replace the card reader) in addition to the upload of snapped form EC08.

Trust the Mods can help push this to the front page for wider input.
