You guys are jokers, it is obvious you don't know much about the complexity of leading Nigerians at federal level. Non of them is certain of performing well until they get there and do so for us ro see.

Politicians selling their properties and taking huge loans for elections, is not sacrifice but "investment" and they intend to recoup all they spent, in many folds through misappropriation of public funds at the expense of the lives of millions of Nigerians.

I am employed by a London borough (local government), the head of my unit as a civil servant earns more than a UK MP (equivalent to Nigeria's senator), not to talk of the CEO of the borough whose salary is more than twice of what Kemi Badenoch earns as an MP.

Nigeria politics is different to UK politics, be realistic please. The dynamism and prerequisite of politics in this country will never allow office holders to be less corrupt. You don't expect someone to spend 200m naira to get to the office and be giving him 1m per month for just 4 years. He/she will definitely steal to recouped all money spent plus profits.

Until Nigeria dish out presidential system of government and embrace regionalism with unicameral representatives at the centre, we can't move forward a bit as a country.

There is nothing like right people as far as Nigeria politics is concerned. Let stop deceiving ourselves that there are right people in Nigeria. The current political structure or arrangement will never ever allow anyone to perform excellently.

Besides, no government will give them the kind of salary being paid to their counterpart abroad in Nigeria. Where will such government get money to do so for all unproductive government workers?

The same Professors you are defending will not think twice to throw entire youths or students under the boss if Government ask them to increase school fees and get more pays.

What a Nigerian Professor earns in a monthl cannot even pay for his flight ticket , if he is to attend academic conference abroad.

Still studying towards my Professional Doctorate and working full-time with my Msc, what I earn in one and half day of work (net pay), is more than what a Nigerian Professor earns in a month....it is really sad.

If we are to be fair enough or be realistic, we shouldn't be comparing what senators earned with that of university professors.

Senators are elected for a limited period of time, and aside that, it cost a fortune for someone to contest in elections in this part of the world. Some of these people sold their properties and took up huge loan to get to that position. They spent alot of money for protection, and some don't even enjoy their lives with their wives and children. They sacrifice alot to earned the price.

I don't even subscribe to idea of increase salary, just make life be bearable to an average Nigerian. Food should be the cheapest or least thing a modern man should be worrying about. It should in abundance that a 10 days pay of an average worker should be enough to pay off his/her bills for a month.

Obi is right on this one, why will a reasonable government placed 100k/200k on its international passport in this period of economic hardship.

This government only care about what to spend and not the feelings of average man on the street.

The government, if they're serious about food security, should start by securing Benue state and other native agrarian communities where indigenes live in farmsteads and plant and harvest without bothering anyone about incentives.

If these farmers are not free to farm and have their harvest secured from the rampaging, ubiquitous futa jallon wanderers, then all government talk about food security is pure hogwash.

The government should fix transportation infrastructure and make storage and export seamless.

That's what the Nigerian farmer needs and not government handouts that would appeal to and awake the greedy spirit in him.

You are 100% right sir, reason I mentioned the provision of security in my previous posts. Provision of modern storage facilities will go a long way in helping farmers in curbing unnecessary wastage of farm produce.

However, don't you think that proper orientation of farmers on the need to sustain their farms with government provisions instead of pursuant of short gain by selling it off is necessary? Besides, the cost of production in the farms now is too high that even if farmers produce in large quantities, the price of foods will still be on a high side withiout any form of government assistance.

This is a crime against humanity that should attract capital punishment. No sane person should think of producing fake drugs for humans consumption, this is so brutal than waging a war.

Nothing like that will happen if he pick one of them again, especially if the person is more influential than Shettima . Politics is a game of numbers, you don't deal with someone who cannot command large numbers of votes as expected. For instance, Obi would've won that election if he had picked an influential Northerner who can bring 3 millions votes in 2023 presidential election.

Tinubu is not just a politician but field marshal in the game of politics. His judgment, whether he retain Shettima or not will always lead to his victory as incumbent.

I understood how greedy they are, reason I said they should rather lower their price and compete with imported rice.

However, you don't compare livestock with plantation of stable food like rice, maize, beans, etc Besides, animals too feed on plants produce by plantation farmers, so it logical to subsidise the plantation of these plants that will eventually bring down the cost of feeding our animals.

Farming are mostly subsidise anywhere in the world, and the best way to do this in Nigeria is to provide the aforementioned items to them for ultimum cheap productions.

Every country with large population like ours imported food items, they should rather lower their price to compete with imported rice.

Government should as a matter of urgency provide free fertiliser, tractors and security for farmers. They should as well build solar for selected big Millers to help them save cost in their production. These are the things Government should do for them, no one should give them monetary loan or grant again.

Minimum wage here is $15 per hour and still that egg is not as fresh as what is consumed in Nigeria. I have a huge distrust for eggs that need to be refrigerated. I get from the general store, a crate of free run eggs here is around $8.50. Its the organic that is expensive.

That plantain is good, here it is around $1.20 per lb for a plantain and still not sweet like Nigerian plantain.

A minimum wage where you are is $15 per hour, yet you are comparing it to a place that 6k for that create of eggs is someone 2 or 3 days wages.

Besides, a creat of eggs I am seeing in your picture is more than 30 pieces they sell here. If an hour minimum wage could be enough to buy a crate of eggs, it mean you can literally buy all your food stuffs for a whole month with just 5 days wages.

Please don't ever compare Nigeria with any other place on earth again. The country is gone, only a true federalism or total disintegration can put us on the path of development. With new country or regional autonomy, the new constitution of each region/country would be thoroughly examine carefully to align with 21st century society.

When someone from grass to grace share their life time experiences, then I can buy. Give me just 100m naira and come back in the next 3 years to see me. 90% of newly established businesses fold up because of lack of money or access to good loan.

I am talking from 100% experience as entrepreneur, if you are a young guy, and you don't have good capital to start up a good business in Nigeria, it is better you find a salary job that pay little or japa if you can afford. The current economic reality do not allow small scale business who don't have access to capital to survive or make a reasonable progress in the long run.
