wirinet:I find it hard to understand how all the brains and elite economists entrusted with power in the country couldn't see that this is an obvious enslavement of a whole people, subjection of a whole nation's integrity meant to be protected to every other countries' citizen and majorly the west, infact everybody... I don't understand how a currency value that was once higher than pounds is now way way lesser than 1/1000 th of same currency (it's almost comical, like how did that happen, how bad did things have to go to justify the currency being that low from its former position?) and all the big brain economist the country could muster allowed this? Well, well, well, whatever they see they get... at this point am just watching how the incoming chaos will ensue because it will surely happen, it will be interesting to watch whatever it is... ..whether it would be that the currency reaches one-millionth of dollar so that everyone can brag about buy a bottle of pepsi for NGN100,000 so that the resources put to print the money itself will then become more valuable that the product being bought, Ooh, ooh, maybe we will start counting our budgets in quintillions, while theft will be in quadrillions and kidnappers and bandit be asking for ransom in the trillions... |
CandidAdmin:I would argue that some sampling is necessary for destructive testing for the sake of quality control. Some people over do it Sha, lols 🤣... |
Kobicove:I don't think you are considering proportionality of force and the capacity to take one's self out of the situation where possible. There are instances where what you said can be true, however it is not true for a whole lot of situations, at least that violence level is not commonplace else it will become barbarian living real quick... If someone didn't know the context, one would think you were referring to mosquitoes or something... |
SharingIsLife:I would actually like to know how that inflation figure is reached because I believe a more realistic inflation value would be around 200 - 400 %, upwards even, if adjusted based on volume of observed nation's average total expenditure/exchange of goods and services. I believe our inflation values are either being under reported or misrepresented. |
Angelfrost:What's crazy is that when Falz mentioned this on CNN a few years back I think around the protest period, that was true, even moreso just last week when we were seeing antibiotics quoted 4-8X their initial prices the week prior. We looking at ... Unaffordable education Unaffordable transportation (that is considering periodic earnings) Unaffordable feeding And now medical care is looking even more unaffordable. |
CoronaVirusPro:Everyone knows the UK survives by taxes, perks of being a global financial hub, and that is even more important to them even as they exert benefits of their empire and colonial links, so not so much news there. The juicier news is that a country whose currency value was more than the aforementioned empire has allowed its currency to be devalued to 1/1200th of that empire's currency's value within say at least 60 years, continually, while NOT lacking the natural resources the UK relies on taxes and multilateral agreements for. That data coming out of Nigeria is continually saying that law abiding, working Nigerians are worth less and are less Nigerian than their terrorist counterparts. And that to live a normal life, one has to be a stinkingly rich Nigerian, or a non- Nigerian (either in earning capacity or through and through non Nigerian) |
youngrichnigga:There are quite a handful of Chinese ones too. |
Musty4ahmed1:They can post 10,000% if they want. But that you with open eyes and without coercion (mind you persuasion, or convincing from marketing doesn't count except the marketing was dubious) agreed to it made the business happen and hands have been shaken on written business contract that you agreed to (when you clicked on "agree" even after seeing the interest rate they posted. That fault is not theirs. You can not agree on a contract and after you have enjoyed the part that served you, then RENEGADE or ABANDON it when it was time for you to fulfill your end. There is no place where that is allowed, even you will not allow it because it is injustice to one party. If you're finding it hard to repay, that one is understandable, the next solution-driven step is to make effort and a plan to repay it and execute the said plan. If you want to kick them out of business, honor your end of the contract to clear your name from the credits bureaus and make it a point of importance not to ever entertain a loan from them untill the interest is something you can afford. Loans and desperation (like one caused by your country economics) is not a good combination. You should have planned, drawn out projections not only to cover the loan but to survive repaying the loan and after completing the loan repayment. |
magoo10:When I tell people this, they think I'm insane untill they see the numbers. Firstly, one should take loans only when they are sure to pay back or need it for endeavours that ensure the loans can be paid back, even better when the return that pays back the loan is multiple times over. With that one alone no money lender will be posting crazy interest rates like these money lenders are doing... One will stand a better change to negotiate a better repayment interest rate when considering. With this current combo, the loan cycle will be endless because in addition to hardship, earnings coming in isn't enough to even live off of talk less of repaying a loan of this nature. |
Bigkoko:You are comparing UK that is looking for oil and gas supplies from other endowed countries like Ukraine and Russia in the European region to generate electricity? What UK is experiencing is due to shortages and complexities that the war with those countries is causing. Your Nigeria on the other hand is stupendously rich in countless things INCLUDING the oil, of which shortages the UK is suffering from so much so that even other Nationalities, non Nigeria citizens enjoy your country beyond measure... Your country is on a mission to enslave its citizens to any outside person with small money Incase you are unaware, the trend has been consistent for the past 35 years pure downward spiral, year in year out. (Bad for citizens, attractive to western and European investor due to better currency value) Now we are a level where are going to be subject to loans to live (which is worse than the loan culture obtainable in the west btw), just to live O. Said loans are not even enough to start with. All high interest loans that are unaffordable on the long run for even business use. Working modest Nigerians cannot even afford to live off the naira they earn because it has been devalued like /4 (at least) within the last 4 years. In case you don't understand, forget that they are using 21st tech apps to get loans, what this means in plain grammar is that...ALMOST ALL MIDDLE CLASS is borrowing to eat NOW. If that is middle class, then the poor are in limbo. I mean, do you think the poor will have phones or qualify for said loans? Meaning, one needs to be RICH to live NORMAL in TODAY'S NIGERIA, there.... (Data and reality keep hitting you guys in your face and you guys turn a blind eye always year in year out) This is why relocation is attractive because one DOESN'T NEED TO BE RICH to live NORMAL lives there, because an average job will do. Normal countries are providing welfare packages to make sure their citizens are well fed, Nigeria is making sure that even when you have a decent job you have to BORROW to feed, not even for business o. Where do you see consistent borrowing to feed (at cut throat interest rate) instead of business a something normal? Infact, Nigeria by omission of treating bandits have made terrorism and terrorists a part of their government. They have allowed these bandit displace land owners and farmers, demand and collect Ransome, taxes, levies. In case you don't understand, Nigeria is telling you those terrorist are more Nigerian than any honest, law abiding Nigerian out there, that the FG government is tired of collecting taxes and using it judiciously hence you are allowed to pay taxes to Terrorist Governance. That the terrorist are upper-class citizens and you who is law abiding, honest and working Nigerian is low class and not worthy of the rights of a full Nigerian, a true son of the soil. That there is not an issue when the prices of the food you need for living increases because of those artificial taxes to the terrorist, why? Because everyone will contribute to cover the cost. That's what your country is telling you through the data you are turning a blind eye to. When the student is ready the teacher will appear... |
IVORY2009:Our hardship in Nigeria is by far largely artificial don't be deceived by those news you hear about the war and the effect of its global inflation. Nigeria has the all that it takes to have been insulated but they have chosen to enslave their citizenry to outside western, European and colonial linked investors. See, the schemes Nigeria is playing is to make her citizens poor and impoverished, dependent on loans like it is in the west yet unable to live of their jobs like it is in the west for their OWN citizen. In addition to that, destroy the value of the Naira to make own citizen unable to get value while exposing great value to Western investors. Right now, even a small-timer with some dollars can take advantage because the Naira is in the gutters yet the citizens that have it cannot even afford it. If you want to live a modest life in Nigeria right now as a single person, you are looking at at least NGN1.3 million. |
FloatingSeed:That and the handling of the NIMC registration where they added a deadline for its registration revealed to me that dumb_asses where in control.... I kept on thinking whether nobody within their team gives them sensible council... Abokifx was only reporting rates, so are countless other sites.... If abokifx was going to be taken down wouldn't it makes sense to take down other sites including other financial sites, whether institutional or not, alongside (which is impossible by the way without a sh*tload of lawsuits). |
[quote author=Calabar1stSon post=125022738][/quote]The secret is in the franging of the nbang sang just rightly brown and crisp enough... ..and the ground iwa similarly crips in cool water. Of course from there one can go crazy with the additives like sugar or/and salt, milk, honey, cake toppings, etc |
Chee59:Not just Nigerians, it's a human thing wherever in the world, maybe that of Nigerians is on steroids (depending on the ones you meet). The likelihood of that caveman behaviour is just a reflection of their immediate surroundings, society or upbringing depending on which one of them affected or influenced them greatly. |
porthouse7:Yeah, I think about that too. The only disadvantage would be that if one of them decide just randomly on first meet that one is a worthy target your radius of investigative net would be wider. In the military, they tend to have and orderly or batman/batmen as they were called. That way the search net is smaller, even if the the culprit decided to outsource the deed out, one perceptive enough could reasonably link 1 and 2 together and form a reasonable haunch (I'm not talking about just blindly accusing anyone, although there are ways the military police can get it out of them, lols) |
I had already learnt this lesson while in Nursery school. It amazes me how I'm still able to remember virtually everything (even the perfume permeating the air et al) that transpired the day I decided to show a little kindness to a classmate because he said I should give him small. Brethens, I don't know if it was because of the Sunday school lessons of the previous Sunday or if it was the morning devotion that made me decided to test this show of kindness, I kid you not, till this day (in Deontay Wilder's voice), I will never forget the experience. That was how one became two and I was almost mobbed, they wouldn't even let me eat my break food in peace because I was hungry too. Different guilt tripping emotional tactics to get from me what some turned out to have, some even came multiple times. If you didn't bulge, they go "ok, I won't be your friend again", and that's coming from someone who wasn't even my friend to begin with. I ended up sharing it to everyone that wanted it, thinking they would be satisfied. I got the shocker of my then short life, lols. They cursed me out saying they didn't even get anything, people that just several seconds ago were just nibbling out my lunch like piranhas in an eating frenzy. Of course I cried that not only did I get not to eat my lunch while hungry my self, but that even after helping they didn't acknowledge that I help them and cursed me out for it. I was now hungry, traumatized (effing brutal something for a <4 year old, the things that were said? Hmm), got mobbed (they even mobbed off my flask and water bottle from my possession, lols) but also gained more enemies than friends (shit seemed to get worse the more I tried to explain and ask them didn't they remember when I cut for them just now?) I learnt a great lesson that day about human psychology. Since that day, I see through everything, It won't matter if you use religion or blackmail to pyscho-babble your way. I will do what I intend to do strategically at all times with self preservation in mind. It pays to have a minimum amount of selfishness, especially if you haven't stood well and are considering rendering help. |
[quote author=Oloki post=124149304][/quote]The arrangement we have is we buy the meters, registered in the landlord's name, so obviously we can't leave with it and he has to subtract that value and expenses from the next rent payment. I think that may be better than buying the meter and registering in your name at a location that isn't permanent because if you move it may not be so easy to reintegrate it at your new location, it could be same state but will it be the same line? I usually hear of line/tarrif A, B and C. Will it also be the same EDC? Heck you new location might even be a different state. I don't really know how it is done, so I am spit-balling here, contact your nearest EDC for better advice. |
pocohantas:It's all in the day's job, ma'am, you're welcome. ![]() Here is an example: /generic-plug-in-digital-timer-switch-electrical-timer-80675007.html (Notice the holes allows using a variety of styles of plugs, British style plugs are different from all those American I-looking plugs... and they go into mains sockets) /generic-digital-programmable-timer-switch-74347076.html (this one has more timers than the other, allows only one style of plug, goes into main sockets) /sinotimer-professional-digital-time-switch-190628014.html (this one does not go into socket, it is connected in-line. Say you want to turn off the garden lights or security light by break of day, this is the one you would go for because the security is usually a switch inline and not some appliance plugged into to some socket ) Note: the website above I am trying to reference is jumia, jumia dot com. |
pocohantas:Lols, yeah, well, we are not that used to off-grid living here even though the way the energy brokers treat us is as if we were living in places far from civilization, thick jungle were one is to not expect communal services. So I found ways to reduce that. After the initial calculations it gets easier with timed switches. The timed switches will help switch off appliances after a time period so that it does not load the PV system batteries more than it was intended. In my case, the fan, freezer/refrigerator, washing machine and UPS make up my power gobblers list, and because I know that by 9am the sun will rise enough to charge up my battery to 80% level when I can use them except the freezer and washing machine, I would program them using the timed switches to turn on by 9am. Whatever device/appliance that needs to go off by 11a will do so, so that the PV system can dedicate full power to the freezer by 11am and shut off by 1pm. By 4pm UPS charging is shut off. All done automatically like clockwork. This year, I added an auxiliary wiring. So I dedicated one for the mains only (that is NEPA) and one for both NEPA when they provide power and PV jointly, plus an automatic change over. The wiring dedicated to NEPA only run the heavy appliances, while all other appliances are carried by the solar system are on the other. The result is less stressful life independent of our current electricity providers, all you'll hear is the auto-change over clicking and power is on, 247. |
pocohantas:I bought one 800W travel iron to test it with my solar because it was small and all. Well, let's just say I wasn't pleased with the outcome because although my system carried it, the heat wasn't enough to straighten my clothes. One needed an insane amount of pressing runs just to iron a portion of clothing. |
Love800:There are solar pumps na. But if you have a pump already that is not a solar pump, what you do is - get the power rating of that pump or if you know the amount of horsepower that pump puts out, you can estimate the power rating... For example, if your pump is 2 horsepower, 1 horsepower is approximately 750W, so 2hp will be 1.5KW. From this you will need a 2KW(higher than the pumps highest power requirements) Solar system to handle the pump (alone o, that is as long as no other appliance is running) . |
Yampotatocarrot:Yes, you can also know what to expect using calculators like: https://shop.thesunpays.co.za/pages/solar-system-sizing-calculator This one is customized to SA but some things are the same no matter the location on the planet. |
pocohantas:Yes, that's true. . Actually more than phone and fan. 247 power 95% of the time depending on usage. The businesses around me won't even dare run their .85VA gen as long as I have power because of the cost of fuelling.Yeah, about freelancing, I program trading tools, so if you know someone into forex et all that has ideas wanted actualized, you can reach me . |
Yampotatocarrot:I even feel like I would be giving out too much secret sef... lols. It will not power unlimited amount of appliances o, you will have to manage it out. For example when I intend to put on my refrigerator/freezer, nothing else preferably will be plug on at the time maybe except the laptop, or the fan else it will trip off due to overload, but the sun will have to be up to sustain replenishing the batter immediately (meaning don't even think of trying this at night since it will be running strictly off the batteries at night). DISCLAIMER!!: Don't try this until you have researched and UNDERSTOOD how each component and the batteries work else you will achieve a sub-optimal arrangement or worse you will damage your batteries (the the biggest expense), let me just put that out there... Yes, it could have been even lesser but I need more power, so I went for an additional solar panel, a higher capacity batter (second handed) and a charge controller to boot( for this one I urge you to research o). You can learn a bit from lasthero's thread, he got me inspired so I began my project. https://www.nairaland.com/6868224/how-managed-light-situation-apartment |
pocohantas:Well Poco, do some more research. I know you're good at it. One can make it work, you just have to analyze the load profile of the intended solar installation location. This would include how long one would be running a device for. I installed mine last year... budget was between 200-300k, however I don't think most people will be as thorough as I was about how I went about it, So maybe ramp it up to an average of 600k. I run my freezer for 1-2 hours on a good sunny day(every 2-3 days interval, and well the sunlight has replenished the batteries within the day in between intervals), and it's good enough for like 2 days tops. It's all about power management especially when on a budget (yes, with solar it's a given you must manage, lol). That investment has paid off just after one year. For the record the capacity of the inverter used in the PV system is 300W ( 300VA; MAX:500W). For reference that smallest generator, you know, the "I-better-pass-my-neighbor" generator is of 850W (850VA or 0.85KW) capacity... ...and the panel are installed in a good orientation considering the loci of the sun (how the sun moves across the sky)... and where the neighboring buildings aren't casting shadows over it during the good sun hours. I got started when I encounted lasthero's thread: https://www.nairaland.com/6868224/how-managed-light-situation-apartment |
Some lawyers internship will be worthwhile dismantling this landlord's attempt to minimizing fundamental human rights of his prospective tenants. |
PARADIZEPRIEST:It is talk like this that will bring lawsuits close to you. How can you refer to someone as a cannibal when you have no proof that the person has consumed human meat? That you don't eat dog meat is ok, that's your choice. Don't force your choice on someone else. World class food tourists eat all sorts, even raw meat. Here you are trying to stigmatize someone's dietary preference simply because it differs from yours. People are different, some eat things other don't. |
eyinjuege:I hate to break it to ya, darling, you probably have ![]() |
I usually find this their reasoning fascinating. Is she trying to say that the lives of chicken doesn't matter that only dog should be spared being eaten? It may be taboo to you but the world doesn't revolve around your ideas and beliefs. Also, dog aren't the only pets loved by people. People eat chicken and still have them as pets. Infact, some still end up eating their pets they raised when the time comes. So you love dogs, so what next? Well, some people love some animals so much that, apart from keeping them as pets, they eat them and love how it tastes like because it actually taste good to them. So, you are now going to assume a moral high ground because they showcase their love for their animal in a manner different from yours? All this synthesis of moral high ground is just nauseating atimes because if their rationale were applied to all domestic pets there were around, according to them people should probably end up not consuming animal proteins. They just come up with endless time wasting matters... You got gender wars, next is the idea of sex/gender being a spectrum, now animal rights and stuff but unequally skewed to protect canines. There's practically nothing one does in the world where there isn't an issue with it benign or otherwise, sheesh! There are more important matters to research on like antigravity, zero point gravity, portable fusion, faster than light travel, quantum tunnelling, superimposition, communication and teleportation, room temperature superconductivity, free or near free energy, terraforming templates for planetary colony, cave tech, stone computers and memories banks... You cannot totally police people's choices of nutrition within lawful limits. |
ChinemeremFidel:Actors and actresses do that every now and then and play spousal roles, yet this is a big deal? Actors and actresses get more action than some relationships, and not that they are acting too much over the top et al. |
They have not given birth to whatever human sibling to so disrespect a partner beloved that I have chosen in this manner. I'm boiling just reading this. Even all outer onion will feel my presence. Nonsense. Your relationship to your husband is what is important because it is through him they would/should get access to you. I cannot speak for your husband but after telling his sister off, standing his ground on the least amount of respect to be accorded to his spouse, I felt he should have had no problem limiting their interference in marriage trying to pursue his already married wife. Talk to your husband about what bothers you when any confrontation happens, don't nag, just talk or discuss about it maturely. You say your husband blames you for her behavior sometimes, I would like to know what the blames sounds like apart from the text you sent them during the mourning. Restore your job, I understand the mental toll and stress your must have suffered during the time but loosing an income source should be one of the last things to do when in a situation like this. This is because your backup plan should things go awry will depend on building some back up income and savings as a safety bracket should such shenanigans you already witnessed replay or increase in future when you might be older and more frail. They have shown their hand, keep your peaceful demeanor while prepping your backup simultaneously. Look, not to be pessimistic but, you have to hope for the best BUT ALWAYS prepare for the worst. |

even after seeing the interest rate they posted.
