It seems You guys saying the Afghans are loyal to the Taliban are watching this war from the back of your screen.
Are you guys not seeing the massive crowd of Afghans in kabul airport trying to flee aghanistan. Have you seen the traffic in kabul just to get to the airport. Many of them are cursing the US for abandoning them and some are here saying they are loyal to the Taliban. If they all support the Taliban, why are they fleeing.
The US failed and lost the War, That's the simple truth don't try to twist Reality.
There's no doubt that alot of Afghan people and soldiers are loyal to the Taliban but at the same time There are thousands of Afghan soldiers and commanders who are ready to fight the Taliban any day any time, the only thing that make sense here is a case of sabotage and not a freaking loyalty to the Taliban.
Just a month offensive to reduce the fighting capability of Taliban would have given the Afghan govt more time but the idiot ordered withdrawal when the taliban were at their peak just like that. Democrats have always been bastards Na God go punish biden.
ugo4u: This is embarrassingly scandalous. Maybe, just maybe the people's loyalty lies with the Taliban because this whole issue doesn't just make sense at all. Pentagon and private Military contractors has cashed out big time fleecing the American treasury and unfortunately the Afghans were the pawns in the whole fiasco.
Tinfoil: Ethiopia losses in the civil war have shown just how weak their military is, reducing their negotiating power and exposing them to an attack.
If they had been having a good diplomatic relationship with their neighbors then some of them would have probably stood up for them but they have a history of making enemies of them instead
This is the best time for the military to begin their final offensive. Their moral is at an all time low, the only thing needed now is the use of devastating force.
Thank God the A29s are here, we should continue hitting them until most of them surrender.
The Taliban in Pakistan launches attacks against Pakistan, the government even spent billions building border fence to stop attacks from spilling into Pakistan but even at that they still offer support to the Taliban.
SamuelAnyawu: Yes Military has up to four FOBs with checkpoints on that road. These ISWAP guys strike in between the checkpoints/FOBs
Tho mostly between the checkpoints might be a 15minutes drive.
If this is the case, then it's simple. install 1 surveillance camera per km or half a kilometre, that gives you 130 or 260 cameras respectively. You'll have complete coverage of the road, but since the situation of Maiduguri is very volatile, you can expect attacks on those structures and one mi 35 will be dedicated to the road to make sure those that attack it don't go back alive. But I don't think the strategy will be sustainable since we don't have enough platform.
Whyem15: They should start including clearance operations in these missions, many of the bandits would have escaped and would return to their bases after the operation. While fleeing from air assaults, the bandits will abandon supplies, arms and ammunitions, those things shouldn't just be left there for the terrorists to come back to recover. Often, locals have reported seeing bandits flee on highways from air operations, just setting up fighting patrols and checkpoints across highways close to the terrorist bases will significantly increase their casualties. It will also prevent the bandits from ressuplying their bases. What bokoharam is doing to the highways leading to Maiduguri is what the army is supposed to be doing to the bases of terrorist and bandits alike.
Just put two armoured helicopters armed with gpmgs or Hmgs to chase the remnants that are fleeing and insert ground troops to finish up the wounded, take their weapons and ammo, search for the hidden ones, burn the entire camp and extract.
bidexiii: Army recruitment: Zulum approves N12.8m support for 641 Borno candidates
… Adds N15,000 as monthly allowance
Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum on Wednesday approved N12.8m as support for 641 candidates currently at their final stage of exercises to qualify for recruitment into the Nigerian Army's 81 regular intake for 2021.
Zulum announced the support, while addressing the candidates at Maimalari barracks in Maiduguri. The Governor was received at the barracks by the theatre commander of operation Hadin Kai, Major General Christopher Musa.
The 641 candidates, each of whom is to get N20, 000, were those who passed different stages of medical and fitness tests and soon to leave for final military fitness exercises at Falgore Game Reserve in Kano from where successful candidates will be recruited into the army.
Governor Zulum urged all the candidates, many of whom hailed from the 27 local government areas of Borno state to be good ambassadors of the state.
"I commend your patriotism for choosing to enlist into the Army. However, as citizens of Borno, I advise that you should be good ambassadors of our State. Under no circumstances should you behave wrongly anywhere outside. Insha’ Allah, we shall provide the needed support to all of you” Zulum said.
The Governor, in addition to his release of N12.8m also approved N15,000 monthly to support each of the 641 candidates during the last stage of the recruitment exercises.
Successful candidates from across the country are expected to proceed to the Nigerian Army Depot in Zaria for other stages of their recruitment training.
Since the assassination of the Chadian president,It Seems Gov. Zulum has learnt to listen to his security aides. His jack Bauer style don reduce
ugo4u: That's how you people will keep defending evil till it touches your family members. Don't know what Nigerians gain in being dishonest. That was how Jumoke a petty hawker was killed by police bullets in the Odua protest, only for the police to deny it that she was killed by protesters citing her injury was a stab wound which forensics later showed she was shot only for same police to shamelessly charge some arrested protesters for shooting a girl they initially claimed was stabbed. That was how Shiites were killed and buried in mass grave yet some of you deny this fact. The Lekki incident was covered live on Instagram with over 140k watching yet you still deny the obvious. Continue defending the indefensible e go soon touch you.
This is you having a comprehension issue.
Stormtrooper claimed protesters were killed by the Nigerian army bullet and I said there's no evidence to attest to that.
There's no part of my post where I defended anything or said the army didn't kill anyone at the toll gate cos I wasn't there and I do not have any evidence to prove so neither does Stormtrooper has any evidence the army did. Simple.
Stormtrooper11: It's not about the number of the dead. I don't know why we keep defending things aimlessly. Was the Nigerian Army at the toll gate? Yes. Were protesters shot and injured? Yes. Did we lose at least a Nigerian citizen to a Nigerian army bullet? Yes. Case closed. Firstly, the Nigerian army wasn't supposed to be there. I don't know if there was any official invitation by the government. The Nigerian army wasn't supposed to shoot live rounds on its citizens or at any target cos it wasn't a violent protest. The Nigerian army wasn't shot at or assaulted. This is a total breach of the Nigerian army rules of engagement and international laws guiding human rights.
There's no evidence till date that anyone died from bullets of Nigerian army. According to the hospitals around the lekki toll gate, the wounded protesters had pellet gunshot wounds and the army doesn't use pump action rifles or Oka. Even the US made this known a while ago that there's no evidence.
GreenOris: Like WTF is wrong with the arm forces? there is currently a large military operations in the bushes of kaduna state, flushing Bandits and kidnappers and they are silent about it, these include mobile police, army air force and the glorious PANDAS, but they have been keeping it hush from the media.
I don't really understand what they tend to achieve with the media silence. A retired airforce pilot was on Arise TV the other day saying the NAF jet crashed on the last day of a 6 days operation and we didn't even hear anything up until the jet was shot down.
They need to understand the fact that showing strength and actions of the military serves as a huge deterrence to several groups that are aspiring to be like BH.
You guys should calm down na. The online media only got their report from foreignpolicy.com, no major source have confirmed the report. I saw the report yesterday and immediately searched everywhere to see if another media house reported it and I couldn't find any. For now no major news outlet have reported the news.
RiceProducers: Nigeria Police that is buying MRAPS, some UCAVs and at least one armed chopper with armoured cockpit. Their own requirements were even more descriptive than Airforce and Army. DHQ is also buying stuff for many joint ops.
ArabicBerber: ISWAP "controls" NO significant territory or hold any sufficient sway in the North East. There limited to scavenging around Sambisa and Chad. The Tigray rebels literally control the Tigrey state/region in Ethiopia leaving hundreds of Ethiopian soldiers dead and taking thousands hostage all within a couple months. The Ethiopian President had to BEG the separatists for a ceasefire!
Understatement of the year. The Ethiopian Army got DESTROYED in Tigray.
Not this tired old story again. The Ethiopians defeated the Italians because the Italians at the time where the biggest jokes in Western Europe. The weakest of the Colonial Empires. Most African civilizations at the time could have defeated the Italians. The rest of Europe left Ethiopia alone because is wasn't part of the colonial agreements in Europe and the fact Ethiopia was the Sole Christian nation in Africa. If it where the British or French that attacked Ethiopia it would have been game over for Ethiopia.
The Italians came back in WW2 and washed Ethiopia sending the Selassie fleeing to England.
Below are captured Ethiopians soldiers rotting away awaiting that glorious Ethiopian Air support and rescue.
People want to joke about Nigeria, Mali, and Congo breaking but Ethiopia's about to show them up shattering like a vase.
Omo, thank God Nigeria dissolved the regional government crap.
kikuyu1: All this Tuc talk reminds me of the brand-new clean sheet, twin turbo prop attack plan, the TAV, Tactical Aerial Vehicle from Icarus in Quebec. I FIRST saw the render year and immediately liked the concept.
The specs REALLY look good! Check out max payload, speed and G load ISN'T far from the F 16 max of 9 Gs.
I STILL can't see anything on price but this CPFH which frankly is high.
I'm hoping its max FAC is 12-15 $. Its a game changer for not just Africa but a tactical multi role craft. Properly deployed in pairs with sensors working and proper FACs in place BH backers will have to go back to the drawing board. In fact

I've said before the world is overdue for a new OV 10 Bronco: this COULD be it, guys!
cutievik: If i had the time to debate this Sir, I would pick out a dozen loop holes from your explanations.. We hate small shrouds of criticism especially when they are obviously lapses. Imagine yourself or even a loved one in his shoes.
Placing emphasis on the fly past, it helped no doubts, but Sir, was that enough?. Let's analyse briefly, rescue team was sent and yet all his possible locations were invaded by bandit meaning they had the leisure of time to operate, if he were there he would have been captured, that's too much negligence.
Where was the rescue then?!, They barely slept at night, he said, no extraction team came to the village he passed the night in showed how porous the environment was as it wasn't patrolled enough.
That entire area would have been on a mini lock down.
Brethren, this man did 90% of the job to be safe.. AFN didn't do well, lesson are here to be learnt and that's my submission. take it or leave it as this is my last on the issue.
The guy ran a distance of 30km, let even say their search radius is within that the exact 30km radius the pilot was which I doubt, how on earth do you lockdown a forest of terrain filled with mix of sandy areas and trees and no road network within 24hours. Do you know how many soldiers and logistic requirement you'll need to lockdown an area like that within 24hrs.
People who make decisions like this have been in the job for years and have accumulated alot of experience overtime, you don't know more than they do.
kabe1: Details on the Sukhoi Checkmate fighter: -Short Take Off and Landing -$25-30 million cost -3k km range or 1.5k km combat radius -1,900 kph speed -More than 7 ton payload -First flight set for 2023 -2024-2025 construction of prototypes -2026-2027 pilot batch/serial deliveries
GabrielYulaw: I better wade in here. Did we overpay for the Tucanos? Yes. Are they what's needed right now? No.
Better kits and equipment, plus improved troop welfare and masses of heavy weaponry would have been mote optimal. Buying 10 tanks from china today, 6 tanks from Ukraine tomorrow and some MRAPS from Proforce next month simply doesn't cut it in my humble opinion.
Sincerely, Nigeria is a country that never lacks for money. What we do best is throwing money at problems hoping it will just go away. Deeper examination of what we are facing and possible solutions never seems to occur to us.
So, the latest estimate has it that over 350k people have been killed in this war so far and frankly the future does not inspire me with confidence. From Boko Haram we have gone to ISWAP and now Bandits and Fulani herdsmen are all over the place, killing without limits and having fun.
How many of you here can confidently travel from one state to the other without killing a ram and asking for the blessing of the almighty? This country is fvcked. If you can't see that then you have a massive problem.
Now, say you have a very deadly insurgency in your country and have $600 million to buy the kind of arms that will bring the war to a very speedy and satisfactory conclusion, what do you do with that kind of money?
I don't know about you, but there's simply no way in hell I'm gonna use that money to buy a dozen turboprops. I don't care if the planes in question came with a million free rounds of ammo, rockets and sensors. I don't care if Thanos himself put them together.
What you guys seem to be forgetting here is that the North and everywhere else seeing unrest and killings is a very large place. I seriously doubt that even a hundred Tucanos would be enough to provide adequate coverage, not forgetting that not all the planes bought will be airworthy at the same time.
If I had $600 million and was told to go and shop for war-ending weapons, I would take like $200 million, go to eastern Europe or Russia and buy or beg for around 500 old tanks, from T-62s up, plus IFVs. These can be speedily modernized and the tanks turned into heavy IFVs that no bandit or ISWAP can touch without using heavy anti tank missiles like the Kornet.
I still have $400 million, right? With $200 million I can buy hundreds of heavy artillery and long range MLRS from Russia, Turkey and China. Some of these MLRS will exceed 200km in range. The normal range of any arty on my shopping list should be at least 30km with standard ammo, and double that with RAP.
Then with the remainder of the funds I will buy as many MALE drones as I can. Mainly from China, but the reliability of their aircraft is doubtful.
So, what will I use all these I bought at mammy market to do? It's simple. The IFVs are there to ensure our troops are safer while moving around. The heavy artillery and rocket launchers are there to engage the enemy wherever they can be found, day or night. We don't need manned aircraft for that. What's needed is to establish bases mainly in the northeast and near our borders that are like 30-50km from each other, all equipped with heavy artillery and mutually supporting.
The drones I bought should be in the air 24/7 and concerns about their data transmission capacity can be remedied by buying satellite bandwidth or launching our own satellite. What this means is of course that with drones covering most bandit and ISWAP-heavy areas, there's no way they can pop up without being immediately targeted with arty or rocket fire, with eyes in the sky making sure the munitions raining down are going where they are supposed to. And all without any putting any troops in danger.
My apologies if the above sounds like daydreaming or science fiction, but it does appear feasible and something I would do if I was given $600 million to buy weapons that will change this war for the better. Not even twenty F-22 Raptors a can win this war for us, let alone a dozen Tucanos, unless these turboprops are carrying atomic weapons, as Joscofelix might say
I think you need to learn more about asymmetric warfare. Your idea is more of conventional warfare type
Estimated 350k people have died from the war as a result of indirect actions(hunger, disease etc) and not killed.
