Well, such is life. When you're overwhelmed by thoughts and worst, you don't have a focal point to latch on to then suicide becomes enticing. Books can make or mar you if aren't careful. I was once almost caught in that web but thanks be to God that I held my sanity and walked away from the flux. One thing I can confidently say is that most suicide victims conclusively become atheist before pulling off the plug. If you begin to tend towards atheism, know that suicide will gradually become normal to you. I can prove that to anyone. However, I'll want to point out here that there are various causes of suicide with the worst being this Akachi's type. Others like being incapable of meeting your financial obligations or being heartbroken etc. can easily be solved but a philosophical miscalculation is difficult to solve. You all can see he had friends and family that were caring enough but it didn't deter him. One great way to help such people after trying other ways is to attack them with words. Heavy criticisms aimed at tasking them of their own duties towards family and friends may bring a fresh thought from another perspective to their notice. Most suicide victims focus on themselves alone; you can call that philosophical greed. Challenge them with this. |
The youth of Sudan have demonstrated what should be done already. Al Bashir is out amidst a heavy and unrelenting protest. They didn't resort to suicides. What are the coward Nigerian youth waiting for? Do you want a committee to be firmed before you take to the streets or are you for Thrace to come and lead you? Lol. They don't want to die from police or soldier bullet because it is painful but will gladly drink Sniper like a rat in a hole. Lol. Cowards that's what you guys are. Death is death however, one can usher in a positive change whilst making you heroes but the other will confirm your cowardice and your corpse won't be given a dignified burial. Instead of committing suicide all alone in a hidden place, commit in the front of Nigerian soldiers where cameras can cover your heroic death and you will be remembered. Reason it out for yourselves. |
Reference:Well, I don't beat about the bush. The reality facing us today is that the priorities of those running Nigeria does not reflect any seriousness at progressing so why the possibility of harnessing the energy from the present hardship to build is there, the probability of such is close to zero. We live here and have studied the politics of regression at play. Let's see how it pans out in the next few years to come. Meanwhile, your population is increasing at a fast rate and you can't feed them. Think about the consequences of that. |
plaindealer:It's either this guy is overestimating Nigeria's present capabilities or he's just trolling. Nigeria which currently can't build a simple conventional boat is the one to build an aircraft carrier? I can see he's joking. As for this thread, I don't expect Buhari supporters to agree with the fact that Nigeria is worse off at present. Like I've always spoken; it will only get worse. When the foundation is faulty, what can the builder do? Nigeria needs her system to be changed entirely or she's broken down into bits for better management since we can't continue like this. |
Revolva:I never said Igala people were the earliest settlers. I only said they contributed to Asaba's history. The earliest settlers were Igbos. You didn't answer my question on whether the bilingual people of Ibanis and Olamaboro being Igbos just like those ones in Anambra East are called Igala. |
Osagyefo98:I'm an Igbo man from the quintessential Anambra state you are impersonating. I'm well known on Nairaland for close to a decade now with a clear record. My likes and dislikes are evident to all both friends and foes. However, you on the other hand are living in the shadows claiming what you're not. Seeking confusion here an there. My grouse with you still remains your impersonation both my state and people. Desist from these and watch me fizzle away from your tracks. Relent and watch life become more miserable for you. You have been warned. You reported me to the moderators yet they looked away because they know I'm right in my stance. I don't joke with words. Keep off Igbo matters! |
Osagyefo98:I never asked for peace from you. I only ask that you desist from impersonation and stop stirring up dissension among my people. After you do that, you will never see my glorious presence in your mentions again. As for you subtle threat, bring it on. Courageous men don't impersonate. I can confidently take on a triple of your kind. Bring it on! |
Revolva:There's nothing like pure Igbo. Igbo is Igbo any where any time. We understand that people mixed over time but the prevailing language and traditions today is what makes a people belong to an ethnic group. Delta Igbos are Igbos even though migrants from Bini, Esan, Isoko, Urhobo, Igala mixed with the aboriginal Igbos over the centuries. Do you know Asaba have Igala heritage? Igala use to come to Onitsha to trade far back in the days. Some of them settled and married Igbo women. Today they are Igbos. Because they don't speak Igala language any more. Today, the ones in Anambra East LGA often called Igalas are regarded so because they still speak Igala despite the fact that they are bilingual. In some LGAs in Southern Kogi, some communities are bilingual too in Igbo and Igala. What ethnicity should they fall under? |
Osagyefo98:I told you that you're a failure already for choosing to launch an attack on Ndigbo while trying to appear as one of them. You will continue to fail until you keep away from Igbo matters. Focus on your own people and then all may just be well with you. |
Peacemaker5129:Change your profile handle; it is the opposite of your character. |
aribisala0:Hahahahaha, chai!. Aribisala typical Yoruba man. No power to fight physically. Na juju you call to fight for you? Chai, make I donate one dog for your ogun to ginger him to action. Lol |
aribisala0:Your rabid hatred for Ndigbo will make you mad some day. I've known you for long on Nairaland and you've refused to change. Ndigbo are a great people but never superior to anyone. Where you see greed I see drive. This drive is common among those who want to make it in life. For your age, I expect you to have observed this but no; all your energy is focussed on hating Ndigbo. Most wealthy people have a drive and unfortunately that drive is garnished with greed. That's why the Bible stated how difficult it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. Secondly, you always mention 'inferiority complex' when discussing Igbo. Lol, are you saying Igbos have inferiority complex towards Yorubas or Hausas? Chai! You're pitiable. Igbos marvel at the achievement of the whites and respect them for that but even at that we don't feel inferior to them in any way talk less of your likes who can barely put one and two together. I won't attack all Yorubas because I know the achievements some of them have had. The last group of people to be associated with the term 'inferiority complex' would be Igbos. Do you know why it's difficult to control Ndigbo like other ethnic groups are easily controlled by few individuals? It's because every single Igbo man believes in his own capability. Such people don't feel inferior to anyone. As for buying and selling, it's just one of our forte. We are doing very well in almost every facet of endeavours. The only areas that we are not in the fore is technical skill set. I blame Nigeria for this. If electricity is available, the amount of companies that would have sprung up would necessitate my people to go for those skill set. Presently, such skills don't earn a decent living for their bearers hence the neglect from our side. Lastly, it doesn't hurt to address Ndigbo correctly by using the right spelling. It's 'Igbo and not 'Eboe'. This is what bitterness can make an educated man like you do. You may disagree with a person's opinion; state your disagreement and move on. Don't resort to insults. |
melzabull:Now you don't need to be rude to counter my opinion too. Agwa bu nma nwanyi! Ebu m gi uzo banye otua di n'ikuku. Kwanyere onwe gi ugwu! |
AuthorityXYZ:For your information I'm Igbo myself. No race is inherently superior to another. It's hard work and dedication to duty that puts people apart. If we are superior, what then do we call the English or the Germans? Don't allow the infantile ethnic battles on Nairaland make you write statements you can't substantiate. No one can argue that the drive for excellence among us is higher than the average the world over. It's evident to all. That still doesn't equate to any superiority. |
AuthorityXYZ:There's nothing like superior blood. Appreciate our sister's excellence and move on. |
The amount of electricity awarded for those trucks alone is more than the entire capacity available for Nigerian consumption. Nigeria is 200 years behind most European countries in development. |
Mrval20:Ok. Deje! |
aribisala0:Lol. According to which historian? Aribisala, you won't stop from delving into what you are ignorant of. That's a bad habit. Say what you have read and understood very well. |
Mrval20:What's the meaning of the name 'Asogwa' and Ossai. These names are found in Nsukka. |
DSoj:He smoked Okitipupa weed mixed with ginger |
Revolva:He's not Igbo. |
This is just small. The chicken is still on its way home to roost. Enjoy your Nigeria |
That's very correct. Alcohol or it's consumption is not a crime. The issue is actually when the consumer allows himself to be under it's influence. Outside that, alcohol is not bad. The same is to other natural herbs including tobacco and the popular fela menu. Lol. They are all products of nature. |
You are still here with your deceit Mr. Impostor! As you continue to sow discord among Ndigbo so shall peace elude you. I've advised you before but you refused to listen. No one will come to your help when your trouble starts. Leave Ndigbo and Alaigbo alone. |
MetaPhysical:I don't want to appear like a fulani advocate but your insincerity is making me appear so. How come a centre of such in those days will have no ruler over her? I don't think so. You carefully avoided the mentioning of Afonja despite his notorious story. Alimi was similar to Fodio in that he was a clergy in an area under the control of another but he eventually usurped the throne. Don't rewrite history. One of the places the British encountered a commendable military organization during the military conquest of Nigeria was in Illorin and they were under a fulani emir. It's on record. The British had to use a better tactic to subdue the charging cavalry of Ilorin which was hitherto destined for Oshogbo after their first attempt failed. Don't come here to change history. The emir at Ilorin pointed to Sokoto as his superior that's why the British kept is so. I agree with you that the only two ways to get it back is either through conquest (Which I think isn't feasible) or political concession(most likely but for a more better deal). Lol |
Oshigun:Lol. I was on Nairaland throughout that time and yet didn't comment on that thread. Check it and see for yourself. Yorubas were not fully represented in my estimate under GEN but were not also excluded. Tinubu sold your highest position(entitlement) that time for party politics. Jonathan was naive but never a total failure like you pointed out. I'm not one that wish people bad in life for no just reason. You can always check my posts. I've been hear for close to 10yrs now and have been consistent with my stance on issues. Now, contrary to what you said, the issue of Biafra has been on right from the days of OBJ as early as 1999 under MASSOB and even under GEJ, IPOB was vocal and not hidden. Check for threads on IPOB on Nairaland 2014 and you will see them. We are not hypocrites like your likes. GEN was no proxy for Igbos. We only recognized him because he was the one that gave us a sense of belonging after the previous government neglect and abandonment. What fuels the agitation for Biafra is not just politics and economics. Security and justice too is included. The constant killings of Igbos in the north is a big factor too. Do you remember the App Six saga, if you haven't we still do. Their killers have been promoted instead of being incarcerated. You guys joyfully announce that no Igbo man can be Nigerian President- an ethnic group numbering tens of millions yet you nothing wrong with that. Today despite no Igbo have physically attack Yorubas yet you have started complaining of our overbearing attitude whilst calling for our exodus from your land in a supposed one country. Who now is the hypocrite? If the Nigerian government gives everyone equal right and justice, the voices calling for Biafra will fizzle away but we know they won't ever do that because of innate hatred against our natural propensity for development and quality of life which is somewhat farfetched in others. Therefore, our quest for Biafra will never cease until the flag of the rising sun hovers freely in the eastern skies. |
Oshigun:I'm certainly not a hater. I do balance my view unless you are with the evil Nigerian government that oppressed my people, then I don't care a hoot about your feelings. Check my history. Igbos have no physical limitations as you always wished for. Igbos won't be refugees as you think. We shall still travel as we do today but it won't be to your Nigeria. There are other countries of the world who would appreciate our contribution. I don't blame for seeing all negatives when Igbos are mentioned. It is the hatred that has consumed you. The positives we have been scoring despite the wickedness of the Nigerian government is a testament to what will be when we directly control our affairs. This is lost on you and I won't bother to explain any further. Finally, to buttress my submission on the post you replied, I'll say that the only biggest thing most your likes focus on is Lagos forgetting that she's a conglomeration of the wealth of many nationalities at present. This will cease to be so after the dissolution. You will have your region to to yourselves and invite investors with whom you're at home with. This is not a beans and bread affairs. Oh yes the Yorubas have a good number of technocrats but will politics allow those breed to man the sensitive areas that can make things happen? I'll leave this for you to ponder. Religion also with be a problem from what I see. I've spent more than a decade with Yorubas and have studied the present dynamics. It shall pose a problem. When the time comes you shall understand me better. As for Igbos, I personally know that the first few years shall be very challenging but we shall weather the storm eventually. We are highly educated with surplus of technocrats, this actually is what gives us hope more than anything else. These quack politicians you see today among us, you'll never see again. No single individual or a cabal can hold Ndigbo to ransom while pillaging our resources. We know our strengths and they are greater than our weaknesses. |
forgiveness:You know already. Inasmuch as I'll like it to be part of Western Nigeria, I don't see its feasibility. Before colonial interruption, she was already under the caliphate. That was Afonja's fault not mine. Only the indigenes of Illorin can say otherwise and if anything I saw from the few I've met matters, I don't think they're looking westwards. |
ChristianNorth:Firstly, you have to know what being Yoruboid means. It has nothing to do with when a language was formed. It only has to do with language similarity and compatibility. If two languages share so much words and have similar sentence construction to an extent that they are mutually intelligible, then one becomes the dialect of the other but if the shared words are there with less sentence construction and low mutual intelligibility, then one is regarded as an -oid(pseudo dialect) of the other assumed to be the parent (where the language was derived). So it is in this vein that Igala was classified as Yoruboid. You can google it. I use to think otherwise given the relationship we had with Igalas until I met one guy who spoke the language. With my knowledge of Yoruba, I could pick up some words and few sentences. Notice that Bini language have some shared words with Yorubas but the sentence construction is quite tangential hence no mutual intelligibility. Hence, Bini is not classified as Yoruboid. The same is noticed between the Ika language and Bini language- though a lot of shared words but the sentence construction is quite different. Ika instead have similar sentence construction with Igbo and if you just substitute some Bini words with Igbo ones in a sentence written in Ika, you would understand it easily. Hope this helps. |
