Bruv, listen to yourself. Where are Yorubas not adequately and admirably represented for you to even remain talking. Richest African is from the core North and the region suffers from poverty yet are you intelligent enough to see what is obvious and how Yorubas are a people God blessed with natural elegance? In the list of ten richest Nigerians you will find Yorubas dominant. Still we have made our region the most equitable and fulfilling for any Nigerian to live in. Universally accepted fact. Everything, in an effed-up nation, is showing the understated talent of the Yoruba people because we are still the gold and definitive standard of everything good and positive about Nigeria no one has bettered. Unless you want to remain arguing with universally accepted statistics and facts. I will remind you to understand you do not look good when you cannot face basic truth and reality.

Which Hausa? The supreme court judgement was under the Hausa regime. What do you expect?

For now, let everybody enjoy the peace in the city but if Nigeria disintegrates, Ilorin, Jebba, Kanji dam, Shiroro dam and Lokoja must be taken back by their rightful owners.

In this case, Supreme court judgement will not be effective but the old maps before or after the colonial masters annexed the entity called Nigeria shall be used to determine who owns what.
Remove Ilorin from there. For others I'm not too sure but I'll research on them soon.

So they wan grab this one? Na knife aboki go put for una neck.

Someone is even claiming that Igala is Yoruboid.
Mainstream Igala is indeed Yoruboid. The Igala spoken around the southern fringes of Igalaland is highly diluted with Igbo words that makes it difficult to identify how similar it is to Yoruba.

It is indigeneous to Oworo (Yorubas) and dated far back into the age of NOK civilization. The town was formerly under protection of Ife Empire. It was an old trading post but began receiving settlers dislocated from other regions by war and conflicts and is why today Lokoja has diversity quarters belonging to different ethnic groups in North.

Ebira and Igala are Yoruboid groups themselves.

In fact the Igala say Lokoja is a compressed word and in their language it means in full "Lowa Ka Je Eja" (translated - come let us eat fish). In Yoruba come let us eat fish is Wa Ka Je Eja.
Igala is Yoruboid but Ebira isn't.

abnot:
Some people have never seen anything good in Nigeria and will go to any length to put down the country. Don't get me wrong I'm not immune to the challenges but going by your contribution one can also say 70% of the world lives in poverty. While I don't know much about the OP I can deduce that he/she is one of the numerous Nigerians who equates money to everything. Let's assume you dont know . More than 50% of american adults don't have up to $5,000 in savings or investments. OP talks about cars (possessing 2 cars) which further shows that he/she knows not much outside the facet of Nigeria where cars are one of the parameters used in judging the wellness/comfort ability/class. In first and second world nations ( USA/Canada/UK/Germany/RSA/Singapore) cars are marketed all over the media with all kinds of offers (zero interest for six months/ 5 year monthly payment plan/ leasing options/ trade in options and other financing deals). With $1,000 pay-down I can drive a new car out of the lot after agreeing to some terms with the dealership. You don't own the car till you finish paying for it which can take as long as 5 years in some case. Two to three consecutive default payments could see the dealership get a court order to repossess the car. In Nigeria most people pay-down the full cost of the car (100%) which is one of the reasons used cars are more prevalent coupled with the high cost of importing a car.
On the other hand, I have not met any american during my 4 years stint as a college student who bought their home out rightly without a mortgage plan. They dont own these homes till after 10-15-35 years (depending on the payment plan). With the middle class standard you have set I'm keen to know how many of these cars and houses you have acquired and how much you have pilled up in your account. I have lived in two first world countries and have visited a couple of others dominated by the middle class and most of the inhabitants of these countries dont even have $10,000 in savings. These countries are far more expensive than Nigeria. My housing cost about ten years ago in a shared room is more than what I pay today as rental in Lekki and I am more comfortable (in terms of housing) now than then. A friend of mine rented a 2-bed apartment for about 5.2M per annum somewhere in victoria island. After 6 years he moved back to USA and was paying $4,250 monthly for a one bed apartment in midtown manhattan. He didn't own the house and he had one car. By your definition he is in the lower class but yet he moved to NYC to attend business school and still lived a middle class life in USA with the resources earned here in Nigeria. May be you should also move to a first world country and see if you cant fit into the middle class immediately.
What then is your answer to the OPs question? Are there still the middle-class in Nigeria?

Really at bolded, u should start by leaving the southwest. I don't have anything against Ibos, and I'm of the opinion that if this country dosent work then let's get separated, I'm just against that harbinger of hate and misfortune, Nnamdi Kanu. It just baffles that a dumb guy with very low intellect would command the respect of learned igbos and champion a cause u hold so dear
Like I wrote earlier, it's non of your business whom we choose as a leader. Focus on your own leaders. As for leaving the South West, that one is no problem as we have our own lands. However, that will be after Biafra has been established. Do you feed the Igbos residing in your area at present? Do you give them free accommodation or transport? You hypocrite! You send the Igbos away by supporting the creation of Biafra after which you can do whatever you feel like to those who refuse to leave. I don't care about what becomes of your land or people after we've left.

onyeopobo:
In a general sense, most people from Opobo town are generally very open minded and laid back because of the multiple ethnicities around us, more like most communities in Rivers State, Because we're a multicultural state and tribalist undertones will get you no allies, hence why most notable igbo politicians from rivers state are not usually at the fore front of any Pro-igbo anything to avoid issues with our neighboring communities. But deep inside we know ourselves and where we belong to should there be an eventual collapse of nigeria and that's what most of my input in this thread has mostly been about. I'm sorry I can't sound fully tribalist as I am not that type of person but i have become sentimental about our tribe and how badly we have been sidelined in Nigeria even though we are a staggering majority.

To be honest Opobo people are basically hooked on everything igbo, and I don't think this is done because we do it for tribalist reasons or to prove anything to anybody but it's a natural evolution of life for any igbo person born in an igbo community and because what we speak is central igbo ours is even stronger. If you walk around on any given day what you would here playing in the backgrounds are igbo songs like you'd hear in any other major igbo city or town. In church we preach in igbo and sing igbo and kalabari songs like most rivers state communities.

When an opobo man is accomplished and is ready to marry we usually end with an igboid or opobo or bonny woman. I'm very sure if you look around you might find an Opobo man who married a yoruba or edo woman even though I can't think of one myself, but 80% percent of opobos end up with an igbo speaking spouse. Again I don't think it's done out of tribalism but as a natural progression of life of an igbo person. Because when you meet fellow igbo speaking person and the relationship gets serious, it usually more likely ends in a marriage as there is not going to be any tribal friction from family or close relatives about who you're marrying. So i guess with that high percentage of igbo marriages, opobos are unintentionally strengthening ties with inland igbo communities. So as an Opobo person, you are most definitely at a lot of times in your life doing some sort of in-law visiting or partying in inland igbo communties.

Also a lot of people from opobo usually travel to Amaigbo to participate in activities because king jaja was originally from there, i guess you would call that strengthening of ties too. Our current king has been to imo state to participate with activities with other igbo kings i think a couple of times, but again in order for him to maintain peace with nearby communities it's best he doesnt appear to maintain a Pro-Igbo only agenda. Which I know sounds bad because Yoruba elders usually hold pro yoruba only agenda, and edo's usually meet on pro edo only basis but when anything "pro- igboid only" is planned people make it look like something bad is being planned.

I think the biggest issue in igboland is lack of a reasonable Ohaneze, that pan socio group is so useless, A serious pan igbo organization would be sponsoring yearly beauty pageants like Miss Igboid, or sporting events where only igbo clans and communities are allowed to participate with huge cash rewards for winners and participants. Our tribe took a reputation hit in nigeria and In order to undo the damage brought upon our tribe by kaduna nzeogu and his boys and the loss of the biafran war, any pan igbo group's first mission is to fight the stigma in most igboid communities that cause it's indigenes to say they're not igbos.

What makes you an igbo person is not whether or not your people fought for the biafran army or supported the biafran army during the war, The igbo's existed before Nigeria and before the biafran war. What makes your community an Igbo community is whether or not you can understand an igbo person on a basic level without translation. The similar traits in the language is akin to a DNA evidence that our fore fathers have left for us so we always know who our kinsmen are, and can track ourselves back to our root. They may not have left a library or a book, but they left a language as proof of who we are.

Here's a quick story, a friend of mine from imo state who has a business at creek road market in ph recently got married to an Idoma girl, most people were asking him why he is marrying a hausa woman and the guy being someone who is not articulate always responded with "Oh it's love, love found me". I went with him open minded for the traditional wedding in benue state and I was shocked, not just myself but most of us igbos who went from PH, we could (speaking for myself I could) understand at least 50 percent of everything being said at every point, So basically put I could get the point in every conversation without translation. I always thought of Benue state as hausa land and thought of Tuface idibia as hausa guy. And also whenever I heard about fulanis killing people in Benue State, I always thought when are the hausas going to stop killing their self. But then again if you're old enough to know tuface's first album with african queen in it, you probably heard since that fully idoma song and back then I was thinking why is this hausa guy singing an ikwerre song. Now I know.

I'm a workaholic and may not have enough time to input alot in this topic, but i'll try my best, but on a final note most opobo people are igbos at heart, we bear english and kalabari names (because of our history with kalabari), a few igbo first names but we speak crystal clear central igbo and unlike most other igbo clans we have a very clear documented history so we can't say we are from sudan or benin or fell from the sky otherwise anybody at point in time who wants to make a case can come back and point our history and it's case closed.
Thanks nwanna for writing clearly to the understanding of all. Your history is crystal clear; no one can change it. I'll try and visit Opobo when next I touch down. I agree with you on the creating of programmes that will bring Igbo and Igboid communities together. Ohaneze have failed in this regard. Our problem is actually lack of cultural leaders. What we have a politicians and political leaders. Igbo have been attacked more than any ethnic group and we need to stand up to our numerous enemies. Jisie ike!

I see the Afrikaners as our kin,I want them to stay. Their mother nation is more understanding of us blacks and I think their coming here to stay before others has a bearing to their tolerant attitude of us in Europe. I understand the complexity even without visiting.I have been fascinated by Chaka, the Boers war etc.to have an idea they need a programme from the westerners who have been exploiting them from 1652 (as u mentioned)to set them on the right path.
SA is advanced than some European or Asian countries,it is a nuclear powered nation.
if it is possible to give Japan and Germany a programme that turned them to Super power after their WW11 destruction, which enabled them to build Thier industries and trade without restrictions.what stopped Mandela from asking for such programme for his country which would have benefited the rest of Africa. He he has the clout to influence such a change aside peace but he came back to act their script.
I still wonder till date why the western media celebrated him.If you know any other reason aside peaceful co existence btw blacks and white tell me.I am not a conspiracy theorist but the man that came back from that island was worked on to be a pacifist only.Where is industry, justice and equality for the blacks
Ok. Seems you understand some things now and I get the angle you're coming from. Maybe Mandela asked for it but was rejected. His passion for his people was second to none. Do you know why he was imprisoned at the first place? Because he planned a violent approach(which I personally endorsed). It's well known that both the colonist and apartheid government which came later looted the country but they really built up the country. Although, most blacks and non whites were deprived the enjoyment those developments brought up, Mandela's freedom gave them full access. Today, blacks can be whatsoever they can be. No more deprivation. The problem now is the blacks can't live up to expectation. Who's fault is it? Ok, let's say it was the poor education the apartheid government gave them that hampered their performance and hence insufficient productivity? Who do you expect to solve that? Allied forces? UN? (there's no invading force here). Which western nations are you talking about? Remember that something motivated the apartheid in the first place(apartheid is condemnable in all ramification). Let me tell you the truth in my opinion. No country with a huge black and white population will have a black based government and develop to SAs present level. Blacks of which I'm proudly one have not come to terms with organizational prowess. We're still petty. Not that we lack the capacity but the tenacity to stick to a plan for development spanning decades seems impossible to us. The whites will never tolerate the rubbish blacks tolerate from unproductive governments. Arabs are always protesting against their governments facing tanks even when their standard of living is 100% better than that of blacks but here we are docile as a tortoise. Forget about Marshall Plan, no destruction of properties was done there. Restitution may be appropriate but Marshall plan as was done in Japan and Germany is not possible. Do you know that government has built hundreds of thousands of free houses for blacks in SA? FREE HOUSES. Do you know that most black townships pay far less in electricity rates compared to others? Do you know that blacks are given preference when it comes to employment through the BEE scheme? These are some incentives to support them.
In conclusion, leave Mandela alone. He's done his bit. Let the present black government who are not controlled by proxy by any European nation help her people. Unlike Nigeria that's been controlled by Britain, no country control SA government.

A.
What is the margin of difference from how he met us?
Contrary to the wide perception out there, Mandela didn't get back the country for black people even though he'd have wished it was so. He only fought for equality which he knew would grant the blacks the opportunity to govern the country and better their lots. All the present politicians in SA who think he made a mistake are joking. You can't get a better offer in peace. Mandela knew this. Even Julius Malema is starting to understand this. SA is a complex society and except you study her well after visiting, you can't understand her. The whites came and formed a colony as far back as 1652. Where do you want them to go?

The Jews also made d same mistake with moses. When moses was taking them to d promise land, they started doubting when tins bcame hard and tough. They even abandon Moses and God at a time.

The rebuttal is so unlike Kanu. I don't see any insult, no name calling or whatsoever. Oh wait! Perhaps it's because the person he is up against is Asari Dokubo? grin

He got it wrong the minute he attacked Asari. If only he could be half the man Asari is... Asari Dokubo already opened a huge can of worms in his last video and further revealed that he provided the charms, the boys and Haven where they took cover. He also referred to Mefor and Kanu as moles. None of those were addressed.

Anyways, I'd like to believe Dokubo's slave-Master relationship stems from various narratives but the most notable is how the Ijaws held on to Igbo properties and never released them in Rivers while the Yorubas looked after Igbo properties in the West and handed them over to their rightful owners afterwards.

Everyone is entitled to self actualization but Kanu won't be the man to lead the Igbos. Dude is too toxic and bereft of ideas. His only meaningful ally in the South is Asari Dokubo and the clown just torched the rope. What both are not telling us is how Kanu racketeered the elections and swung both ways, leaving his 'partner' in no man's land. Their issue is more of money than anything.

So the APC and the PDP agreed to IPOB's terms and conditions, which is? When was this done and why did the group not publicize thishuh grin grin grin
You lie. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu though very blunt atimes is the man we know. Go tell your paymasters that his people will rather die than abandon him. Biafra is our land and right. It may tarry but will come eventually.

Klinee:
Kanu must be a coward, how can you beg an ordinary ijaw man, this is insolative and earsore.
I never saw any begging there. When a supposed comrade begins to act out of order, you just don't fight him. You give him wiser council until he proves irredeemable. Klinee I expected better reasoning from you.
