Seunbunmi: @imperiouxx and Yvete . am i still qualify to play basketball @ my age 27huh huh when i come in june....but am good oo with my height grin grin.......missed u guyz, had to resume back to work
Uncle SeunBunmi cheesy As a student, you qualify to attend the try-outs for any sports. Age is not a factor. Be mindful that we cannot eat our cake and have it. Most CC no get sports team grin HCCS & DCCS have decent soccer and basketball teams. While you're trying to be the next Micheal Jordan for tuition purposes, look into other sports like swimming lolz. By the way, how tall are you??

Some opportunities that we may have missed are better left to posterity (and perhaps beyond) to grasp. Seems like you're coming for summer school. I'll send you an email later today. **Sleepy-eyed* need some Zzzzz'z

olarwarlay: @Yvete - pls i do not understand what the bolded means, but i have a 4.0 GPA in the associates of law program. Can U pls expantiate further? or mayb I shuld just apply as a freshman. Thanks.
Hmnn... If you're familiar with me on this thread, you will realize that I don't like to repeat information and I get a bad rep for asking people to go back a few pages tongue. Further clarification should be done yourself by contacting these schools or GOOGLE.

Because its not your fault, I will explain everything one last time so you can get it.

Do you have at least an Associates degree(OND, ND, Bachelors)?
Can you prove it (Diploma, transcript)?
Would you prefer to complete a BA/BS in 2 years?
Did you attend a reputable university that Foreign Evaluators can verify?

If you answered (yes) to the questions above, apply as an International transfer student. Say you attended Madonna University for one year, your credits will not weigh much in the transfer process, but if you've got at least 2 years of college credits, you're good. Please don't worry about it. US Admissions process is not complicated at all.

olarwarlay: @Yvete, pls do I need to submit an evaluation of my Associate Degree in Law when applying as a transfer student with the certificate?. The schools requirement for transfer students states that one has to submit an evaluation of the certificate or does this apply to students transferring from their 1st or 2nd year in the university from here?. Pls enlighten Me on this. God bless You as always.
olarwarlay: 1. Arizona State University *Good check*
2. Minnesota State University *Good check*
3. Oklahoma Christian University
4. Liberty University. ?? Phatemaah didn't show up to let anyone know if she got the visa.
Pls I need ur advice... God bless.
awww ... you want Phoenix? grin cheesy grin cheesy grin ASU is an excellent school.
Some schools have in-house evaluators. Do whatever they instruct, and as Imperiouxx advised. If your credits are below an Associates, I'd say forget it and start as Freshman. Proof of completing an Associates/OND/Bachelor degree gives you the opportunity to transfer freshman and sophomore credits. You should be starting off as a Junior i.e Third year. You get 2 years to round up a BA/BS.

imperiouxx: That's because US cherish graduates more than anything..... They are close to contributing to US development. Same reason it's easy for grads to the visa than do undergrads. PhD na the baba.
No Ph.D for me please. Two Masters and I'm done. Still got my mind on the Corporate Law thing smiley After this MS, I'll take a break, then Corporate Law and its a wrap. grin grin I'm already tired! Wanna get it done by 30-32.

I see prospective grad applicants telling undergrads to look for financial aid. We need to be careful cos' some people could get things really twisted.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part3 by Yvete(f): 5:40pm On Jan 11, 2013
Folks need to be careful with information here. Grad students have access to a bunch of freebies that undergrads don't. Financial aid for International undergrads is almost non-existent. Get your mind off it.

There are competitive international scholarships and most of them require acceptance to a 4-yr College before its awarded. Most schools expect you to be a student for at least one year to qualify for academic scholarships. If you live and work in the State of Texas for 12 months, you may qualify for in-state tuition (a large chunk of your tuition reduced).

Sports is a big deal. If you can play soccer, practice and try-out with the team to get noticed. My brothers started playing basketball in the US and it favored them with scholarship offers. [s]This may not work for those of us that are above 23.[/s] grin I had to say 'us' so I don't come under attack again.

Its better to start off at a CC with an excellent GPA for 2 years, then apply for scholarships that covers the tuition for the remaining two years of your degree. These 2 year Colleges, not tech schools are there for you to save money so take advantage of it, but DON'T GO TO THE EMBASSY WITH THEIR I-20. If you cannot afford to fund a 4 yrs bachelors degree, why don't you stay back over there and apply for a Masters in the future. They get all the freebies; GA, RA... all that good stuff.

RomanceRe: Ladies, Can You Kneel Down For Your Husband Openly? by Yvete(f): 9:53am On Jan 11, 2013
OCTAVO: I had this conversation with a friend of mine and she‘s like she can never and will never do it! Men are not worth it bla bla bla...
I was like what the heck! This is absolutely the peak of pride!
What‘s the big deal? After all he‘s your husband (your head).
My question goes to all the ladies in the house both married & unmarried. Can you kneel down for your husband openly?
Is anything wrong in doing that? Or I‘m the one not seeing things right.
NOTE: This question might not apply to people that kneeling down is not part of their culture. Thanks.
Why do we even have to kneel? You mean kneel to serve food or take off their shoes?

Its not a big deal, but is it necessary? Your husband is your friend not your mean boss.

imperiouxx: Zerocool, US visa is a different game now, you need to stick to recent activities in the US embassy to know how it works. What they advised or said isn't what they practice in the embassy or might be a bit way off. I've never traveled out of Nigeria when I got denied and 13 days after still never left Nigeria and I got it approved.

Didn't you go abroad (Cotonou) before your interview?

imperiouxx: My statement there is for those believes that it might be because of difference on your admission and interview statement of account. The VO, should know a clear difference between back up sentence on I-20 I expect, well who knows his state of mind during the interview. Also, school's representatives responsible for I-20s sometimes show incompetency. Imagine I once taught an IA how and what she should write on my I-20 because the first she showed me through an email was a looming disaster about to occur.....it contains lot of discrepancies. I compared her work with the other I-20 I got and told her she isn't competent but she reacted angrily to my mail, later when we met, she apologized.
The VOs state of mind may be the problem. Prolly having a bad day.

I totally agree with checking with the IA before the I-20 is mailed out. For mamacita & my other cousin, I had to contact the Intl Students office to make sure that there are no problems with their I-20s especially number 6 'English proficiency' , 8 and number 9 'the remarks section'. They changed bank statements with no problems.
CareerRe: Six Career Myths You Shouldn't Fall For by Yvete(f): 5:20pm On Jan 10, 2013
ghettodreamz: 2. Do what you're passionate about and the money will follow[/b]
In reality, not all passions match up with the realities of the job market. If you're passionate about poetry or painting, you're going to find very limited job opportunities for those things. In fact, the people who get to do what they love for a job are the lucky ones; they're not the majority. A better goal is to find work that you can do reasonably happily; it doesn't need to be your passion.

3. If you can't find a job, just start your own business X
Starting your own business is hard, and it's not for everyone. It's not as easy as just having a skill and selling it. You have to have something that people want to buy from you more than they want to buy it from your competitors. You also have to be able to market yourself, deal with financial uncertainty, have some savings as a launch pad, and overcome plenty of other challenges. It's not a cure-all for anyone who can't find a job or is unhappy in their career.

4. Your major in college will lead to your career[/b]
Students often come out of school thinking that their major will lead them to their life-long career path directly, but it's very often not the case--especially for majors in the liberal arts. You might have an English degree but end up in HR, or a sociology degree but end up selling ads, or a music degree but end up as a professional fundraiser. On the other hand, degrees in the sciences, technology, engineering, and math are more likely to end up pointing you toward a more defined career path.
Number 4 applies to me. So true. Often times, people strive to be what they majored in. You majored in Pol. Sci doesn't mean that you should breathe and eat politics. Most MNC's have position for compliance/Government relations analysts. Go after that.

Number 2 is true as well. Its one thing to be passionate about a career field and another to erase any delusion that you can make money out of it. Realities of life - the world we live in.

Number 3 is WRONG, IMO. Starting your own business is a great idea. I've been running a small scale eBay clothing store since 2010. I work, school and manage my sales online. This free money takes care of any sweet indulgence and frivolities. grin If you don't start small, how do you grow? I've always been a business woman anyways grin grin grin

I'm indifferent with other points.
Nice one...

Vo : hello, how did you learn about the school?
Me : I dowloaded the best 200 universities based on US News report on university ranking & I used internet to search for those that suite my profile.
VO : Nodded
VO : So you what will Bleep course do for you.
Me : I love lecturing, I worked hard to graduate as the best students from my department because I wil like to work as a lecurer in any of our best universities & will also like to work as a research consultant to some of our research institutes since most of them are affiliated to our National universities.
VO : He glanced through each page & Keep murmuriing sth about $77,000 on my I-20 which was the money I submitted to my school before my I-20 was issued.(possibly he mistaken it for $36, 400 for tution fee on my I-20 as well)
VO : Is it only the family type who is sponsoring your study. He asked sth on this twice
Me : Yes, My brother. He failed to ask about what he does. I was waiting for him to ask me about what he does but he failed to do so.
VO : Have you travelled outside Nigeria before
Me : No
VO : Continuing typing & suddenly said your Visa is denied because your family type shows insufficient fund & that I may reapply at any time.
Me : Thank you Sir.
The road leading to your visa interview was a very messy one. Quite pathetic that the Embassy kept changing dates, playing with your emotions and all that stuff. I feel for you.

YOU CAN TAKE A DIFFERENT BANK STATEMENT TO THE EMBASSY, but it has to correspond with the info marked on your I-20. If your I-20 states 'family' as sponsor, you can use anyone (preferably with the same last name). If its marked 'company Acct' for instance, or the name of a person (Ex: Mary E.), take Mary E's bank statement with you. What exactly is written on your I-20?
