Anthonymighty: I dont have friends in boston o...Actually i decided to stay away from friends thats why i chose boston, i virtually have friends in about 7 different states. but my friends are going to be a distraction to my academic life. And i dont want that. Because i used to be an alcoholic person but focused. So im trying to change ways...because man don dey old o. But i spoke to some of 'em about signing for me or using their name to rent an apt for me here while i pay...Is something like that possible? Because my childhood friend is a citizen in New York and he agreed to come help me with that when i arrive. Advice me on that if its a good idea. Anyways about the month-month stuff, i have actually been searching for something like that Yvette, can you kindly help me with links or is it something i will have to do physically (in person) when i arrive boston? Looking for the best roomie is the plan and Talking of tough, i am tough o....but cool at the same time, if any white dude mess with me i will baptise him with my fist o...i am slow to anger and also fast to anger. Anthonymighty: EHen,...Thats nice, me i go like welcome party too o...awww Thank God you're working towards the right things. Oops Oops Oops! Don't wanna wake up to this caption on CNN "Is Nigerian student Anthonymighty really mighty for punching a roommie?" ... America teaches you to use your tongue to curse (verbal judo) while your fist sits in your pocket. Don't ever get physical. If you're financially fit, forget craigslist and head straight to a student housing complex close to campus. Inquire about summer room availability and place your name on the waiting list for fall-spring semester. No Homeowner/Leasing Manager will take you seriously if you're outside the US. That's why I asked you to make hotel arrangements around campus for at least 3 days while you room hunt in the area. And yea, if anyone is willing to co-sign for you, go for it, makes things easier. The ASO thing worked for Mamacita and I think you should try it since you're trying to avoid old friends, I guess. She's got a temporary lease/contract for 5 months because she's transferring to UH next semester. |
Generosity from both parents. My Mum and Dad are givers. |
kpolli: So ur one of those naija girls that form akata abi.... Hisslooool so you're one of those guys have dislike naija girls that form akata ![]() I reject it! I don't act akata at all. That's like from 'grace to grass'. Ask Tuface! ![]() |
imperiouxx: Morning guys. So weak last night that I went to bed at 8pm.Loooool SMH! Oga Imperiouxx, life as a mini-professor could get exhausting real quick huh? ![]() |
Anthonymighty: I pray i find it easy too. But i know once i get to boston, I will work things out. I am just too concerned about this accommodation stuff. its bothering me but my plan is to look for an international student also to share an apt with. I should be able to find one on the first day of school but prior to that? will i be living in a hotel? This is where i still find confusing. Thanks once again for the advice. Chukwu gozie giNwanne, Chukwu gozie gi na ndi ibe gi! ![]() ((Would you mind unquoting my last post? *Personal reasons*)) I won't advice you to wait till the first day of school to make housing arrangements. You're coming in the summer when most people are out of school, vacationing and stuff. If I were you, visit expedia to find great weekend/3-day deals for starters. Within 3 days, sign a temp. lease in a furnished room (month-month agreement) for the summer while looking around for a suitable roommate for the next year starting August-Fall '13/Spring '14. You don't want a roommate from hell unless you're a tough cookie ... Don't you have friends in Boston? |
OjaP: Google is your best friend.I just saw this, " I bet you would be akataish*………loooool." Naa, not true...haha! Funny stuff, my Mum visited us from Nigeria with a flag and placed it in the living room, by the door. Then she told us, 'Anytime you step into this house, you're in Nigeria. When you step outside, you can be Akata, i don't care' hehehehe |
olsmade: i tell ya. waiting on .............. and Texas, Houston.I guess you mean UTHSC at Houston. Great school located right in the middle of TMC with good job prospects (that is if you'd like to stay in the metropolis). I think they also have accelerated programs for MPH, not sure though! |
biofem2000: Imperious, how are you doing? I see you guys are doing a good job here. Thanks Mrs Biofem. You're better than anyone else. You tell it as it is. ![]() kpolli: When I say it's not everyone that deserves help here, someone would say am attacking him...Took me a while to realize, unfortunately! |
imperiouxx: I'm Negro and I want to change my complexion to white like that of the Caucasians. Hope your homemade skincare product can be formulated for that purpose? Hoping to get your feedback. Thanks ma'am.Haha!! Maybe we should formulate a natural bleaching product that can make you look like the new' Lil Kim' -- Bleached beyond recognition! ![]() |
Haha! The calibre of people that come on this thread lately makes me wonder, really!! If we all stick to our priorities, this thread don't come on top. Getting pathetic on here. |
jiraiyasage: How do you advice I go about the SAT? Cuz i'm not that bright in maths buh English is not a problemPractice makes perfect! Get the SAT books, study and nail it. Don't underestimate any college-level English test. Take your mind off academic dishonesty. |
Best - Literature/Government/Economics Worst- Math (still is, but I love to count money) ![]() |
Hey Beauties, Lets talk natural skincare. What homemade products have you tried on your skin and how has it worked for you? Lately, I've been getting compliments on my skin that could be attributed to the 'new stuff' that I've started doing. My profile: Combination skin(face), Dry skin(body), and barely wears makeup. Well, occasionally ![]() I made a homemade exfoliating scrub with blended raw oats, raw honey, dry green tea leaves (from used tea bags), sugar and any cheap anti-acne product. (Apply on face, neck and shoulders & my skin glows, quite amazingly! Honey attracts moisture to keep skin soft, smooth and moisturized naturally. I also use the egg white method to reduce pores - works like a charm (check youtube vids on that). Use Hempz Herbal Moisturizing lotion - $12.99 on amazon for 17oz bottle. All natural and very moisturizing too - Dry skin miracle! Petrochemicals like petrolatum, mineral oil and paraffin should not be used in natural personal care products. These chemical preservatives are derived from a non-renewable resource that is extracted from the earth. There may be a place for them in some products, but don’t think skincare is one of them. The secret is to learn to read labels, and refuse to settle for all-synthetic products. I also learned that the first 5 products on the ingredients list has the highest concentration in a product. SYNTHETIC INGREDIENTS TO AVOID Cleansers: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, and Sodium Myreth Sulfate (note that they are all sulfates) Petrochemicals: Petrolatum, Mineral Oil, and Paraffin Preservatives: Parabens (all of them) and DMDM Hydantoin. Chemical Sunscreens: Oxybenzone, Avobenzone, and Octinoxate Moisturizers: Propylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, and Polyisobutene |
Was 'addicted' to everyday exercise. I even used to feel guilty when I miss a workout while ill. It was that bad. ((shakes head)) I workout 4 times/weekly. Tone/strength training - Tue and Thurs Cardio - Mon and fri or Sat |
Great info Uzo and Xtremebase. @ Nicole09 I run a what I call an 'octopus'. An everything involved business online that spreads out into resale of locally thrift-ed designer items and whatever valuable item I can lay my hands on. And I sell them 100% online too. The secret to safe online purchases from Chinese vendors is to read testimonials, build a line of communication and explicitly express your uneasiness with the new venture. The honest sellers would want to impress you. I mainly use Aliexpress and have no problems whatsoever. I get free samples of items with a 100% refund policy and personal contact information of these vendors. Just exercise caution anyways. |

Man/husband-sharing is pathetic! Most times, these women are insecure with low self-esteem or sometimes demon-possessed. Yups, that's what I think! Why would anyone sabotage their own chances at bliss? |
imperiouxx: Anyone that's ready to die should take drugs into Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the like countries....... Na direct ticket to hell. In fact, some group of people keep pulling the country down. How will those flat faced malays look at genuine Nigerian students or how other genuine Nigerian students will cope with this insult?Loool exactly!! One way ticket to hell! I had a discussion with my Dad a couple weeks back about this Malay drug trafficking situation. The place is not all that. Soo soo sad that I wanna say, did you really have to do this young man? I'm deeply saddened. |
Lance Gross!! Young, handsome and calm. |

Mystiqme: Yvete:Mama awon boyzHaha! Far from it. More like USA Students thread most hated or perhaps, most controversial! ![]() @ Olarwarlay Its a small world. We could meet someday, you never know! Good night yall! |
-------------------- |
olarwarlay: Sister Yvete, tnx once again for dat material U sent Me o... God bless U plenty plenty.Loool Olarwarlay. This is over how many days ago?? loool ![]() Hope you're studying hard. If you've been out of school for a while, it could be a lil challenging getting into 'studying mode' again. Hang in there, SUCCESS! |
imperiouxx: Nigeria first class is the excellent that US divided into c.um laudes: c.um laude (3.50-3.64), magna c.um laude (3.65-3.79), and summa c.um laude (3.80-4.00). OjaP: 2:1 is equivalent to a minimum of 3.0 USA GPAI guess a First Class is from 3.5 - 4.0. Hmnnn I've always thought that a Magma c.um laude is the Nigerian First class. Wow! bukahands: Me english disturbs me even this GRE sef, the english part na war all this comprehension blah blahLoool all that archaic vocabulary. Gruber's verbal and AWA section is great to practice with. Timing is the problem with the GRE. Success to GRE test takers this year! |
OjaP: Yvette: Yes, I agree with you. Masters is all you need here to get a job unless you want to be a researcher or work in research based institutions. The 3-5 years dedicated for a PhD can be used to gather years of experience under your belt since "experience is the best teacher" especially in America.---------------------- ![]() What is 2:1 and 2:2 equivalent to? I mean in US GPA system? |
bukahands: Ehe guys can someone with low 2:1 get into these Phd direct programmes ?Correct me if I'm wrong, I've always thought that the Bachelors - Phd program is for students with first class BA/BS. I don't know how to convert Nigerian GPA's to US grading scale, but isn't it for students with Magna cu.m laude? Besides, don't you think its easier to get a job with a Masters especially if you lack relevant work-experience or you'd like to do research? |
imperiouxx: After texting you I had a dream and was told to be righteous for the next few days that all my needs and requests would be answered before 15 days. [s]Let's not derail this thread before the 'watchdogs' start whining. [/s] |
imperiouxx: You know I do preach to you anytime we have conversations. oooH whatever!! Yeah right! Like the preachy text you sent to me yesterday. It was encouraging anyways, thanks, because I was really overwhelmed and needed a lil push of encouragement. ...but it was also different cos' you're never like that. Did you become born-again yesterday? ![]() |
imperiouxx: Everything is controlled by God, His direction is the sweetest.Yups! |
