The guy's actually handsome,in a rugged way, and he's got muscles. I'm sure he's good looking to his wife.

Now number 2 is a different case. Would have loved to see numbers 2 down to 10.
Nairaland / General / Looking For Where To Buy Fitness Equipment In Port Harcourt by Zahymaka(m): 11:56am On Apr 07, 2013
I'm shopping in PH for a barbell and two dumbbells. So far, the only place I found was Vesa (close to the Atrium on Stadium Rd), but the prices there weren't very encouraging (25K for a pair of 10kg dumbbells).

PH people, do you have any recommendations for places I can shop around to compare prices? Thanks.

i_Do:

If two consenting adults choose to love each other it is no one's business.  If you keep making life difficult for these people some of them will secretly marry your sister or daughter.  As long as they are adults they should be free to do as they choose in ANY country in the world.

Some of the people making noise here and promising to kill people because of the way they were born have committed r.ape, perhaps even murder and some even molested young girls.  So I don't understand how the decisions of an adult that does not affect anyone else should bother people.

Just because we don't have the tendency or are repulsed by same sex attraction does not mean we should be mean to others.  It has taken a lot of people time to come to understand that people are just born that way.  The same way most men are not physically attracted to other men, hence some men are not attracted physically to women, that is just it.  Some people are born albino without choice so that is the way nature is - very unpredictable in it's many manifestations.

Please let us practice consideration and tolerance for others - to make our country better.  I am more concerned about ok.o haram, PHCN, fuel scarcity, bad roads, corrupt politicians, rainy season floods, runs girls that take my money, etc,   wink than worry about people's personal choices.  I guess they live more women for us!

Exactly! There's a lot I don't understand about same-sex attraction, but it's not like they're asking everyone to be. Of all the things we ought to be concerned about -- better living conditions, religious tolerance -- we're happy about a law that achieves absolutely nothing. Here's a Lewis Black video that sums things up:

Why drop if exists? If you're working on an application and need to merge changes in table structure, you can always keep a list of your 'ALTER TABLE' statements.

Well, the problem is if you make it too easy, the scammers would have a field day.

Maybe the encryption questions are being asked for people who store everything in plain text.

In the end, I'd still want to give up if I were in your position.
Webmasters / Re: Quiz Time : How To Bypass Cache by Zahymaka(m): 8:09pm On May 11, 2011
Versioning as yawa-ti-de mentioned.

Ajax posts are not cached, so sending a post request instead of get shouldn't do any caching.

Webmasters / Re: Why Does This Mysql Query Display "array" Instead Of The Result by Zahymaka(m): 7:56pm On May 11, 2011
That's because you're trying to echo an array.

Try this.

<pre><?php print_r($totalsum); ?></pre>

You should see the contents of the array.

Port 25 is probably SMTP for sending board e-mails. I think e-mails in SMF (and most forum software) are put in a queue. You just happened to catch one of those times when the queue execution was tacked onto your request.

Just conjecture,

Webmasters / Re: The Website Is Good, But Not The Best I Have Seen Recently by Zahymaka(m): 11:36pm On Dec 23, 2010
No tab continuity. The tabs and tab content should have something that visually connects them. Mousing over and having stuff change throws you off -- same thing with the dancing links mentioned ^.

The san-serif font isn't very readable. On higher resolutions like mine (1900*1200) the bg image on the header repeats.

Text, text, text.

I'd personally have any designer who uses less than 12 point type for the main text of a site shot.

Contrast.
Webmasters / Re: Hand Coding And Dreamweaving. by Zahymaka(m): 12:23pm On Jan 15, 2010
Well, I do work in design view sometimes with Dreamweaver. Mostly when I have to paste text with lots of html entities like &ndash;. Hitting enter or shift enter for new paragraphs and line breaks also speeds things up.

In the end, the question is, if you use a wysiwyg editor, do you understand all the html it's spitting out?

Webmasters / Re: What's The Beef With Joomla? by Zahymaka(m): 3:31am On Dec 06, 2009
To the best of my knowledge, Joomla isn't a bad CMS. It has its strengths, as well as weaknesses.

Perhaps what the Joomla critics have against it is the fact that it isn't used properly -- in my opinion, it isn't something you should use out of the box, with an included or downloaded template, or even worse using a half-baked customized template. I jumped the Joomla ship some time ago when 1.5 was still in beta, but I was sufficiently impressed with the new features.

In terms of customizing, I would say it's up not as easy to do what you want to do like say, Wordpress, but it does the job well if you know how.

In the end, using some CMS you know is faster than creating something from scratch, and you can be sure it has been tested a lot more than anything you could come up with on short notice.

Family / Re: Help, My Sister Is In Love With Our Cousin by Zahymaka(m): 10:37pm On Dec 11, 2007
I think many of the posters on this thread haven't taken several things into consideration:

1. Her feelings could be genuine. Crushes tend to be rather quick to wear off, although some may last this long. Is it because of some strange taboo that prevents mentioning love between cousins that practically everyone has dodged around that word?

2. It is very, very natural for such feelings to arise so all the talk about deliverance and prayers is, I'd say, uncalled for. In our society such associations carry the forbidden label, and I'm sure both sides know it. Whatever they decide to do after that depends on them, and condemning someone for having such feelings doesn't help in any way.

3. There is no telling whether the people in question are Christians, so all the talk about incest as an interpretation of God's will is moot. The Bible did prohibit sex between most relatives except cousins. Cain and Seth must have married their sisters, and Leah and Rachel were both cousins of Jacob. If an argument were to be made using African culture, it'd make a lot more sense.

Politics / Re: Lagos Girls Versus Governor Fashola by Zahymaka(m): 1:44pm On Aug 04, 2007
It seems Lagos is heading back towards the days when you could be arrested simply for wearing all black or all red. I don't see anything wrong with people dressing how they please. If they're so fixated on traditional clothing, I think the women should go bare-breasted like in the days of yore.

Instead of cleaning up the armed robbers, or at the very least all the naked mad men and women wandering the streets (visually, they appear more 'immoral'), the focus seems to be on what people wear.

The governor's jobless, but I've got to give it to him -- he's got good diversionary tactics.
Food / Re: White Girls And Fufu by Zahymaka(m): 2:30pm On Jul 29, 2007
I wouldn't exactly agree. A friend's girlfriend was telling me about how he took her out to an African restaurant. It may be a coincidence but he got her egusi and fufu.

It was too 'spicy' and she kept throwing up.
Health / Re: Is Being Gay Bad? by Zahymaka(m): 12:52am On Jun 30, 2007
From Omo Eko's comment way up on page 1, I think there's a common misconception among a lot of people that all gay people have anal sex. There are tops, there are bottoms, those who do both, and some who do neither.

What annoys me about people attacking anything gay is that if someone comes up and confesses to rape or something worse, the backlash wouldn't be this strong -- in fact many people would probably look for a way to blame the woman for 'wearing skimpy clothing' or 'tempting' the man.

I don't see any reason to condemn someone based on what he/she does behind closed doors, away from others' eyes [or perhaps those who protest so strongly have a secret desire to play Viewer]. And yes, if you're prepared to show pepper to anyone of the same sex who makes a move on you, you should also expect a beating from the next girl or guy you try to get close to who doesn't like you.
Sports / Re: Table Tennis (Ping Pong) Players by Zahymaka(m): 8:08pm On Jun 11, 2007
Table Tennis is perhaps, one of the fastest games in the world. You have just a fraction of a second to react, and sometimes only your instincts may save you. As you get better, you'll begin to realize the importance of spin, footwork, and you begin to pay more attention to your equipment.

The thickness and material of the table is very important for a standard bounce, and trying out a handful of table tennis blades and rubbers should give you an idea of what best fits your style. I use a Butterfly (I think it's either a Firehand or an Xstar -- not sure which). I initially intended upgrading to a Primorac Carbon but the price for a Viscaria came down recently and I'm going for it.

The last thing I wanted to say was that we have very good players, but the sports industry in Nigeria is focused exclusively on football. We have some very good players -- Musa Atanda, although he's over 40 and retired is one of the best players in the USA (currently number 7 on this list), the best player in West Virginia is a doctor called Dayo (I played him at the state championships and he wiped the ground with me), and Segun Toriola plays with the very best.

The video below is one I encoded from the 2006 World's. It's a little low-quality because I had to keep under the Youtube file size limit. Segun Toriola goes head-to-head with Jean Michel Saive. Segun was up 3-0 and if he had won the fourth game, he would have won the match, but due to lack of practice (see this article, he was quite below par. Enjoy:

Design competitions in my honest opinion are counterproductive. You'll probably get a bunch of narcisstic 'designers' who think too much of their hideous work. Now if you were to stress web usability standards and SEO,
