I would say from experience that if you were given a simple program to write, or implement in pseudocode, then that's very normal. If on the other hand -- from the way it sounds -- you're required to build a full-fledged application that would qualify as a project in your dictionary, the odds are ten to one you're being used. . . under the pretext of 'being interviewed.' |
I've done something along those lines before, but only as a test. How much are you willing to pay? [PS: I'm not in Nigeria] |
WesleyanA:You never know -- I might still be around then. |
I don't know why, but I think The Fourth Protocol was his best -- probably because it was the first Forsyth book I read and spawned my fascination with the Cambridge Five. Forsyth is in a genre of his own because he gets everything right -- from the planning to the weaponry to the tiny details. |
I'll just add a little to what I've seen. I guessed when you showed it to me earlier that you'd been strong-armed into using a cursive font (as per knowing your style) and the nav looks good in it. I see you made the width fixed. On higher resolutions (like mine), the space to the right is larger than that to the left. Perhaps aligning the entire block to the center would help. There's a slight border difference between the hovered and the 'current' state ie the little black border that prevents the white from being continuous. I don't know how to put it but I'm sure you'll understand when you compare. Cheers, and great job! |
This looks like one of the problems associated with not setting the folder permissions correctly on the server. Certain web.config directives require an application for the directory and in some cases, setting execute permissions to 'Scripts and Executables.' Do you have any access to changing these on the server your app is hosted? By the way, what tool do you use? |

Last week I went down to our local ping pong club at the YMCA and one of our irregular [but one of the very best] players had a turn with me and thrashed me soundly . He said I've got the right potential [my reflexes are very fast and I can stop a smash directly on the board or pick the ones very few people there can], but the reason I keep getting beat is because since I'm tall so I assume I can get the ball without moving [I stretch in either direction], and I play badly when competing but very well when not in a game.He offered to give me a stack of ping pong training videos to work on my movement and my forehand grip [I use my backhand excessively in all positions especially when I'm smashing] as well as on my impatience. Unfortunately, I don't have a VCR and the only one I know of is in the library. I hate sitting there to watch movies and they're almost always occupied -- if a student who wants to watch an academic video comes in and all the others aren't free, I have to gice mine up. Does anyone have an idea of where I can get [free] downloadable training DVDs and/or matches so I can observe the players? So far I've got some very short snippets from the Joo Se-Hyuk -- Werner Schlager finale in Paris 2003 but I haven't been able to get any other training videos. If you've got any I can play on my system, I'll appreciate it if you can send it to me through YouSendIt. Thanks a lot. |

What's so special about a tiny membrane that stretches across a woman's entrance? What do you say to those who's hymens are so tough they have to be surgically punctured by a doctor. Are they any less woman because they were 'disvirgined' by a tool? All this hype about virginity is very irrelevant in my opinion. As long as you kjeep a clean mind [unlike me ], I don't think you have any problem. ![]() |
I hope I'm not going to step on any toes here. When you want to do something quickly, using simple techniques, then perhaps Dreamweaver is good. I dropped Dreamweaver ages ago and use it only for designing Wordpress themes because the memory overhead is lower than the tool I use [Zend Studio]. There's a thin line between knowing where to use automatically generated code and where to write your own reusable libraries. For the purposes of this, I'll talk about PHP even though I also use ASP VB, Asp.NET C# and Asp.NET VB. If for example, you want a more secure session, then it is always advisable to write your own session handler or else PHP might append your session id to all urls depending on the configuration. If you want to separate your data layer from your business logic, and you don't want to use a mighty database abstraction layer like PEAR DB, then it is always advisable to write yours [I've got mine which I use on almost every project]. Dreamweaver has its pros and cons, some of the cons being that it is so easy to write insecure code as well as to write code that won't parse because the syntax highlighting is still faulty [HEREDOC syntax is not recognized and unclosed blocks are not highlighted either]. If the alternatives you have are between Dreameaver and Notepad, then by all means use Dreamweaver. IF on the other hand you can get a tool that focuses specifically on the language you're interested in [e.g. Maguma Studio for PHP, Visual Web Developer for Asp.NET and AspWizard for ASP], then you're sure to get better coding help from the editor. Well, that's my two cents [apologies to My2cents]. |
qleyo:Thanks for clearing that up. Actually, XML is best for presenting specific data like RSS and Atom. Elsewhere, I've discovered that the overhead on CSV or other formats is less when doing any sort of programming that requirees parsing XML. Methinks the usefulness of XML has been overhyped, although I have to admit it has it's uses when doing work on AJAX or using XML Data Islands for client-side scripting on the web. The thing is knowing where to draw the line -- not every kind of data can be presented as XML. You can always use XSL to transform XML into a more readable format -- e.g. the RSS 2.0 feed on my blog has been transformed [ http://azuka.zatechcorp.com/feed/ ]. qleyo, by the way I've never gotten your site to load everytime I tried. Getting too many hits? |

[quote author=must_a_far link=topic=20699.msg572195#msg572195 date=1156006384]i'm back and taller. are these the only tall people up in here. if yes then its a good thing. narrowing down my options would be as easy as fixing garri, milk and sugar. [s]i guess that clause that said must be over 21 knocked out a lot of unqualified options[/s] since the last time i posted i think i have grown about a half inch taller or maibe its because i combed my hair extra.[/quote]Methinks the first time you posted you were wearing high heels. ![]() |
