NYSC / Re: He Is Getting Frustrated At His PPA - What Can He Do? by zenatta: 2:23pm On Feb 26, 2013
Seems to have turned personal as he confiscates your belongings and what is your due.

Be careful and watchful though. Do not threaten to blackmail him as suggested, remember you are alone in a place that is not home. Besides the situation reeks of hostility already

Why won't you teach Agric, and beautifully too. Do this as a labour of love and get the children educated. Study to teach this subject if necessary and get the children to heights of unprecedented excellence. (I taught illiterate Military men and became an instant superstar). Do it for the love of the children.

As for the Proprietor, his comeuppance is round the school block, don't worry. He owes you, as a stranger in his town, to look after you. Natural Law will be on his case and Nat Law makes earthquakes look like an infant blowing raspberries!

I do.
I was absolutely enthralled by the escapades of The Saint, the Charming criminal who waged war against criminals.

Please someone tell me what the team of MISSION IMPOSSIBLE was all about. Not the one that starred Tom Cruise but the Martin Laudau/Greg Morris'. My memory of it is hazy but I sure remember the soundtrack.

The tomatoes isn't a bad idea as its packed full of anti-oxidants but the pureed/paste type, though highly recommended, is a tart-tasting affair.
Carrots are good for a youthful appearance.
Btw, anti-oxidants wage war against Free Radicals in the body. Free Radicals are culprits especially in the ageing and dull appearance depts.

Gen. Orumov:

And what hand should left handed people use in holding their knives?
Was at a restaurant with my girlfriend on valentine's day and because she is left handed she couldn't use the knife in her right hand..

Depending on one's upbringing, most left-handers eat like right-handed people. A left-handed person who prefers or is more comfortable eating the 'other way' should not be put out by what people would say.
While growing up, at table, my pa ate with cutlery, my ma with her hands. Now I endure sniggers when I eat everything with cutlery but who cares.

Have always known it to be called 'Banana Leaf'. Its from the Banana plant. Banana Plant I guess grows in the tropics or warm sub-tropic climates. Like the Plantain variety it can be grown easily as long as soil is rich, dark and fertile. You can google to find out what is needed for a good harvest of bananas.

Another sane reason why we must never go into war.
170 million! ...and so much is not in place. Where is the infrastructure to accomodate this revelation, where is the "love-of/for-Nigeria" to bolster the core of this claim. Scary!
As for me, and by God's Grace, I shall keep working hard. One doesn't need to be a rocket-scientist to unravel what this portends.

I was more vocal against BB, I just couldn't stand the drama and effusiveness of most users around me so I stubbornly stuck to the iphone, waging a personal war against anything BB. I would be the first to point out that BB was no longer relevant in its country of origin. Amazingly, as I write I am using the RIM product. I won't call myself a convert but a shrewd business person - BB ensures I am in touch with the core.

This post got me really worried until I saw the above and this

mytnaija: this post is quite misleading information. on the contrary is quite healthy. by method by which one prepares egusi can either retain its health benefits or degrade it. as someone mentioned, plants contain NO cholestrol. the nutrition facts that you likely quote likely includes egusi soup and animal protein -like beef. i make vegan egusi with no meat and lots of vegetables. super nourishing and energizing. in one of the links below, the author considers it "the miracle melon". as you can see from the nutritional profile below. the egusi seed by itself is quite healthy. add greens and other vegetables and you have super healthy meal with lots of healthy fats, protein, low carbs and depending on the veggies probably lots of other nutrients.

the nutrition content of egusi looks more like this:
Egusi (Dry)
Servings size: 0.25 cup (the likely amount in a bowl of egusi)
Calories 187

waiting for the concluding part, so in the meantime, I am about to read
Alexander Pushkin's Eugene Onegin
Literature / Re: What's Your Favorite Novel Of All Time? by zenatta: 6:45pm On Feb 14, 2013
Just read Fifty Shades. Can't say its a favourite but it held me spell-bound. Some have already stated their hate of the language but I love love its informality and the mood in the novel
Asking me for a favorite novel would need me to start a whole www - I loved the innocence of Noella, was often tied up in knots with Scarlett, wondered if Regina Hope Cross was eternal, and if Maris Reed was out of her mind, Caitlin messed up with my nights until I realised she was schizophrenic. I loved Pnin, Alleluia Cone and I didn't need to be a rocket scientist to figure who Zangoro's General was, meanwhile Varvara and Nikolai Stavrogin smack of Oedipus' shenanigans and Odewale's rashness. How can I forget Sam Kovac and his assistant whose names are repeated in author's books as other characters...(boring) but not so, Father Drumont and Denis and Waiyaki's Kikuyi. My first was Laye's story and the woman who "would blow a trumpet to shatter the sky" if her lover left her...
I see I can continue...I swear, I was aghast when Jo didn't finally hook up with Theo but was sitting on the moon when Odili casually reminded his father of never paying his school fees.Any time I watch Big Kahuna, I remember Vladimir and Estragon, they definitely needed an Iya Agba and Dr. Bero. Prophet Jero had me in stitches yet I have been planning to reread the exploits of the chaotic six- Bandele and co for years but would rather watch the History Channel...yawn! I also loved reading about the afore-mentioned General who built a monument to his love because he was involved. He wasn't alone, there was Romeo, there was Julliet, I could never forget when Brutus made that famous speech or the infamous one who murdered sleep but no one gave orchids to Miss Blandish. Oh wow! I remember Mr Lockwood, not Emma's Father and Mr Rochester and that mad woman upstairs. Joseph Andrews was endearing and Don Quixote was in dire need of a shrink. There was another book that told the story of an air crash, a. Federal Reserve Board Chairman and Quentin Rowe. In my mind it was Quentin. Then comes Dinah Slade, one woman that spanned generations of very powerful and sometimes callous men.The story of Sally Beth Roe made me pay attention and as easy -reading as a Sassy Girl was I searched for a Spiritual Inheritance. Power, Seduction are the Masters Of War.
Who Knows, I may continue this as I remember still, The Carpet Baggers, the female lawyer who mixed up with the Mafia because of her only son, yet someone wanted to know if they shall tell the President.Ah yes! I was compelled by Ugwu's intelligence, his brilliant narrative of a very disturbing theme. I threw up my hands in total despair when Kainene went missing and till today, tell my daughter, "wait, she'll resurface, she probably planned her exit" but that's years now, yet I still hope, my daughter and I.
I gotta go and will tell you all about Alexander Pushkin's Eugene Onegin

Rooneyboy: love ur diction brother .
Thanks Rooneyboy, since we are talking of huge financial independence, there was a time I used this asset to enrich my payroll considerably, and to think it was part-time. I had another half-day job, learned French and made friends of people I'd never have met in a conventional job/life.
I see a very dangerous trend, people entering universities to study whatever, not a course of their choice and later they grow to love this course; if you ask me I think someone has compromised; undermined his true self, sold his identity. Any wonder, he feels worthless inside but makes a show of an outward brilliance!

Billyonaire: There are more than a million books written on "How to become a millionaire" and often times, it is the writers and authors themselves who "become" millionaires and not the readers. Of course there are those motivational effects on the mind which fizzles out with time. I call it a soft scam, very quasi-legitimate scheme that's been propagated for ages to feed on the ignorance of the millionaire wannabes. Writers should rather put up articles on "what to do to earn millions", in practical terms, they should tell the wannabes what to do with 10k, 50k or 100k to earn 1 million at a stipulated time frame, based on certain "principles/guidelines". You read so much about setting goals, saving, living thrift, having faith etc. A jobless man has no money to save, no money to live thrift and has always been faithful and tired of being hopeful. I challenge motivational authors to tell the people the truth; The truth that without set skills, that people should forget about aiming towards millions, truth that without specialized knowledge one can not become a millionaire, and that lottery millions wont last forever except invested on businesses with less diminishing returns probables. I challenge motivational authors to tell every man to write business plans based on their knowledge of businesses and find jv or equity partners or even seek seed capitals from angel investors or even private financiers and If they dont have robust business acumen that can break-even and even generate good ROIs, the aspiring millionaires should learn practical skills or trade. It is the honest truth, stop telling people they can make millions when they basically can't without necessary capabilities.
Its not a scam all the time, the writers provided a need, fed the hunger of those who want to be millionaires. Besides there are professionals who advise you on what to do with your money or manage it for you. Talk to your banker, insurance firm and accountant, even your trustworthy friend whose business is thriving. Please nothing read from these motivational books should be allowed to fizzle out; most ideas offered are nuggets; can't tell how many times I cried out 'Eureka' after reading a seeming boring detail; do not close your mind. Someone offered that your mind aids in your millionaire status, I agree. Your mind would eventually direct you to the skill you need to forge on; capabilities are neither here nor there, its preparedness that meets opportunity, taking actions upon what one can do.

Once, I read the book, 'Think and Grow Rich'. I got nothing, I was deflated. However, I had read the book searchingly, re-reading lines and pages and reading unhurriedly so what I read stayed with me. Often I would re-call or call up a certain axiom in the book and mull over it,now and again, over and over and over and again, that was how I got 'delivered'. Many here want a concreteness, a how, a show,a telling that has been told, that is so, so glaring in this thread already and believe me when I say these are the 'softest', most amateurish discussions on how to create wealth, but, even this offers much.

Government contracts don't count in this thread; anyone would be much more than a millionaire with those. This thread serves to showcase one's ability to see way beyond the presented; to probe the obvious unrelentingly and be bodacious; sometimes taking financial monitor-able risks; I never take risks I cannot recall at some point: once, I realised I had been sitting on oil, so to say, and had a pittance to show for it, an idea developed over time, on how to earn far more than I was making. My idea was big, my idea was bold, my idea would be a game-changer, so I was not surprised when no one loaned me the amount I needed. It was too late, because, I had become restless of my position, only ever visualising the good that was to come; being a dreamer has helped me in most walks of life; so I did a crucifiable thing, I sold my capital - to get into the circles of the kind of finances I needed for my project. I monitored every move, lost what I considered, a fraction; that didn't deter me, forged on, sited my business in a new developing area and waited. Call it good fortune or what you will, my new business location is far more income-yielding than the supposed 'paradise' I left. Note, it all started with an idea on a Sunday morning I was seeing red...desperation helps too.

I hated the conventional life-style, I guess this attracted me to the first skill I acquired; it was a gold-mine waiting to be tapped but was considered 'low class' for me. I had tons of opportunities and possibilities to outdo those already in the business, they took it for granted and followed the same old techniques year in, year out.
I was fresh, I was bold, I knew I could do it, besides I was educated.
My fear of who I'd become if I devoted my time and productive years to follow my instincts was a set back. I sought advice carefully. In the end I masqueraded to learn this skill but went ahead to get my first degree. That was the beginning; I employed labour while in the university, added to my degree, and grew a firm financial base in unrelated fields.
I would never criticize being educated; going all the way, because, I have enjoyed its immense benefits in many ways. Truth is, I would hate being uneducated. My skills are like hobbies, hobbies that are lucrative.
Being a rookie,it took me the acquisition of several red-hot skills to build up my finances. I am more stable now. Becoming financially independent was my goal and multiple streams of income was the only way I could save.

I am not much of an investor, lost so much in 07 but I follow the rule of ploughing back a percentage of my profits. I don't do all this alone, as I am quite horrible with money, so I have an Auditor and a Financial manager.
What matters really is one's desire, the solution would offer itself. Thanks @OP for post.

Business / Re: Can A Man Hide From His Fears by zenatta: 8:55pm On Aug 22, 2011
Its advisable not to hide from your fears because they'd haunt you no end. what I do is analyse my fears. Sometimes you find that it is an off shot of your fears that's terrorizing you, not the fear itself.
You've heard it said. "face your fears", and so indeed you should cos its therapeutic. Call up what is making you uncomfortable, bravely stare it in the face, be true to yourself as per solving it. If it cannot be solved immediately, the act of making plans to, is greatly relieving. When you do this courageously, you may find out that it is other 'fears' thats bothering you. Analyse these and move on
Try never to hide from your fears

I'm really into Google and all but alas, this drive to have a finger in every pie is unsettling, Mail, Browser, Social Networking and now Phones Mobility, because the consumers may feel trapped if they are limited in choices. Google is a fiend at competition, recently Face book and now Apple. The Famed Search Engine may well say it is protecting the Android OS, but I think not. It is geared to break the monopoly of Apple thus redirecting its vasts profits. The Search engine and maps are awesome, unbeatable and are enough to hold Google's interest for many lifetimes
Google means to fight Apple and would do so by protecting its already existing concern, the search engine making sure that Apple never comes within a mile of it. Good business sense I would say.
Google in this move may or may not create jobs as expected. One can only watch and pray that the titans do not trample their consumers underfoot
Business / Re: Warren Buffet Says To Congress, "Stop Coddling The Super-rich'' by zenatta: 7:38pm On Aug 15, 2011
Warren Buffett opines, "My friends and I have been coddled long enough by a billionaire-friendly Congress. It’s time for our government to get serious about shared sacrifice" This is no hoax, he is not eligible to contest for President and he has a pedigree of philanthropy. He means everything He says. Naturally he will be criticized but such gallantry is unprecedented.
What life's experiences would get a man to this unselfish level. He is no doubt a hero. He calls Washington to attention on tax justice, "While the poor and middle class fight for us in Afghanistan, and while most Americans struggle to make ends meet, we mega-rich continue to get our extraordinary tax breaks". Amazing!
He refuses to be a sacred cow, "These and other blessings are showered upon us by legislators in Washington who feel compelled to protect us, much as if we were spotted owls or some other endangered species. It’s nice to have friends in high places".
He decries the indulgence and wants to give back.
At this point I am jealous and pained. Would this ever happen in my country, I muse hopelessly
Business / Warren Buffet Says To Congress, "Stop Coddling The Super-rich'' by zenatta: 7:14pm On Aug 15, 2011
I find it rather weird that the American Congress ( and Law-makers the world over), would 'coddle' the Mega-rich and yet cudgel the Poor into their graves.
Warren Buffett the third wealthiest man in the world has offered to pay more tax and hopes his fellow super-rich peers would do same. This is not the first time that we hear of the exploits of Buffett a man who once said "to be fearful when others are greedy, and to be greedy only when others are fearful''
He blazes the trail in the concerns of the Poor and is held in awe the world over. In this new development He editorializes in the New-York Times,  saying " Our leaders have asked for “shared sacrifice.” But when they did the asking, they spared me. I checked with my mega-rich friends to learn what pain they were expecting. They, too, were left untouched". Bravissimo and some Chutzpah you may say. The man wants to pay hefty taxes to shield the poor. , "This cut helps the poor and the middle class, who need every break they can get", he writes.
He wants Congress to stop coddling the Super-rich.
Read more from the New-York Times article. Wish our rich would learn from here to give back.
