no motivational speech can beat this He desired it and his desire worked for him long after. whatever we seriously desire has a way of unfolding for us. we must be careful to desire what is worthwhile I will always remember this story when I tend to put roadblocks on my life's way. Man indeed is wonderfully and fearfully made |
Religion / Re: Pastor Adefarasin Declares Self A Billionaire by zenatta: 12:59pm On Jun 21, 2011 |
@post no brainer that I like Pastor Adefarasin. Long long ago followed as he told his story, his struggles maybe his speech is a tad boastful but why not, what parent has not beat their chest to acclaim a well turned out child. an apple can not fall far from the tree. A mother's glory is in the beauty of a well brought up child. God our heavenly Father was boastful of Job. Pastor A has every right to claim he is a billonaire because you cannot impact what you don't have. A kingmaker always has the ears of the king. The Pastor can never be poor when the people he has preached to are very wealthy, c'est ne pas possible! Motivational speaker, preacher, no matter,as long as when the man who was down hears him and sets about life anew to the point of resounding success, that all that matters Pastor A has always been a down-to-earth person. and that works for me. I remember a story he told about a member desiring his annointing Please kill the notion that men who dilligently serve God ought to be poor. Not so. God rewards always. God is a rule changer, but thats the story for another day. Pastor A does not look to me as a list man. We know the list people. ( an aside) Ehn, Nigerians and their love for inclusion in lists |

@Reflector looked for your other post, its gone. Take a look at the enclosed https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-289834.128.html Reflector: burnt out. Building, of any category, has a certain attraction but for me, at that place in my life, it was gone. A most bizzare thing to have happened to me cos this was my whole life. Something else was beckoning, I guess am done now and roaring to go. Not much beats the adrenalin and rapport with your customers who may later become friends. I have eyes on this delightful quaint li'l place. |
Properties / Re: Building A Student Hostel : Profitability And Challenges by zenatta: 8:59pm On Jun 19, 2011 |
@Relector, you'd always recoup capital and then some, the beauty of this investment is the long-term dividend. I'm still of the opinion that rent per bed/ study space is outrageous but thats my opinion. Students whine a lot, they complain about virtually everything so do not deal directly with them but that's not to say you employ a heartless care-taker to deal with them. Strike a balance with a super, who oversees the apartment and has enough chutzpah to handle them. I almost always encourage privacy, less to deal with that way. Provide electricity. On no account must they be left with such a responsibility. Fueling and repairs is an upfront payment. Students are rather famous for considerable damage to property so from start bear in mind when infrastructure is put in place. And they are not exactly the cleaniest people on earth so provide cleaning services at an easy cost. With experience you'd grow to know where and where not to weave in costs. Can't rule out cases of 'minor' fire incidences. In case of cable, let there be a central feed, My property was right in town so heard of the shenanigans of my beloved tenants, most very unsavoury. Your prop. would most def. be famous, mostly infamous. Will you be providing meals for them and shuttles to school, not free of course, then you'd have slaves for ever. Students never forget a good turn. 1 Like |

Twitter it is for me. I tweet variously, this keeps me on my toes, thinking of my next theme. I see Twitter as one being the focus of so many different people so I tweet to captivate. I'm rather a show off Facebook's been good to me though, helping me hook up with my long lost friends and finding out my family is larger than I could ever imagine. Got some amazing photos of the Himalayas too |

This is a nightmare. I am aghast that rent is manipulated to amounts exceeding a hundred thousand p.a for school kids, university level not withstanding. Shame on a system that allows this I owned a property near Unilag before I sold in 07, occasionally I had the one or two odd tenants, children really who needed to be near school. It was referal and parents/guardian would be in tow, coming for the first time to view. Prices above are outrageous so @ Reflector, note. Besides you'd always make your money I have to go back to sleep now, using a phone. Would definitely get back to thread @Solozzo, be ready for student's riotous lifestyle and late, very late rent payments. @naijacutee, loft bedspace a wonderful idea, but who are your builders, because students will be students. I stayed way off the suspended bed because it was a rental |
Literature / Re: Do Nigerians Read/Buy Comic Books? by zenatta: 12:06am On Jun 17, 2011 |
@op finally I meet, digitally though, a real life writer. The passion to write will not let you know peace unless you do something about it, it will continually burn within you, never giving you rest. Guilt is what I feel. I feel that desperation in you, to create this comic book. I was going to read the thread and move on but like I say, there's always a compulsion. Yes, I read loads of comics long ago, thousands of books too. I'm in love with the written word so I read. Live like a hermit cos I read a lot. I am what I'd like to call an unpublisher writer not a closet one. I had wanted to write comics, not on your grand scale but tell weekly stories that children would enjoy to read. If nothing else, my imagination is astounding. But you know what, there is no readership here. Trust me, only a few read and not all are willing to buy, they'd rather loan. Unfortunately avid readers amongst the younger generation cannot afford to buy even N250 books As you go ahead to produce these comics, don't let anything stop you, do not rely solely on the readers in this country, I always maintain they are non-existent comparing. Search out other markets, Nigerians don't read will not mean Sierra-Leonians won't I wish you well and I'd love to hear of your progress 1 Like |

Thanks everyone for the recount. Now I don't have to subscribe ever again. Dstv's gone to the dogs, previously, (IMO), it was ill-advised that during bba months, no movies no shows etc tolerated it cos somehow on dstv then, there will be something, now its a struggle to get anything decent to watch I'm not really watching bba, only highlights and not a sports fan and am on the Premium bouquet. Any Dstv official in the house take note cos you'll soon lose a 10yr old customer, no kidding and pls, pls stop addressing me as a Dstver, what's that, sounds as if I'm a washing machine or its detergent. |

@florelli, you saw one once, see, once sightings, these creatures are rare like a lunar eclipse. No wonder girls go gaga who wouldn't. Jean!: trust me, at that stage, when we say 'tall dark and handsome', we mean TALL, DARK AND HANDSOME. But guys don't listen and they continue pestering our lives with their not-so-td&h-persona and they call us meanies. michylabo: that's why the label bro, TALL DARK HANDSOME, no smallness in this frame. florelli: and [quote author=Jean! link=topic=691798.msg8530443#msg8530443 date=1308230904 Generally, however I think everyone needs to get to a level of self realisation and think over things to get the best that suits his/her individual unique life. Ibo-made: , maybe, I would, why not, h/eva, once a TD&H, an adonis with tiger movements is pasted to the pix, Mr Money-bags can go count his six-pence, alone! iice: ikoha: good to know, never doubted NL, too many SOs, you won't have any use for me, I copied and became a Venus. |

vislabraye:nay never klutzs, its the tall guys that have ALL the swagger, that height has to unfold for crying out loud. As for the looks, a TD&H guy will do anytime, anyday but where do we find this adonis and even if we do we spend life worshipping him. I love girls for one thing, our resourcefullness, we change gear so to say, a short pot-bellied, illiterate mega-bucks person will do, we call it rebound |

Mostly male answers above. TD&H, is every girl's dream, a quintessence of their desire. Of course, later on in life, after what turns out to be a random, elusive and tiresome pursuit, we settle for caring, reasonable and dependable, CR&. Dis Guy:so right, we copied but there is an epitome of TD&H, He does exist even in Africa, He's the one that is so dashingly cute, drop dead gorgeous, with a devil-may-care attitude. Of course He is standofishly nonchalant and cares for noone but himself. @Dis guy, u ask what is dark, me: have you seen the real, super cool yoruba ebony 'dark' guy? Oh my |
Romance / Re: Am So Scared To Get Married Why? by zenatta: 11:57am On Jun 16, 2011 |
Fear! I sense fear in your post. And also that you are not ready. You are so unready that you are afraid and are afraid of marriage itself. When one is not callously contemplating marriage, it is one of the most beautiful things in the world cos one gets to be with that one person. Love or somethg very near it, matters for marriage. I won't insult you by asking if you feel deeply for him, this question should have been answered long before you both got to this point What then are you afraid of; what is so troubling about this union. Is it the bad rap that has beleaguered marriage for so long, and really, what about his family is bothering you. Do not sweep any of these factors under the carpet, Deal with them, you owe yourself that, don't hate yourself for feeling the way you do, it may be your saving grace, your wake-up call. Immense yourself in prayer. |

Food / Re: Do Women Even Cook Anymore by zenatta: 1:38pm On Jun 15, 2011 |
I am beside myself when I hear a woman, from anywhere, cannot cook. It makes me wonder, does 'can't cook' mean she's handicapped at performing the most basic cullinary function or she does not make perfect or close to perfect meals. Isn't it really a case of 'won't cook' because she is putting on airs or needs to make a point. I am not against her not being 'cook-perfect', practise will get her there but I am sure as mad as, , at an African woman who 'cannot' cook. I am as feminist as they come, I cook, perfect. |
