Food / Re: When Is The Best Time To Take Fruits As A Meal by zenatta: 6:31pm On Jul 06, 2009
Try fruit shakes. Avocado banana and ice and many more and if you like, ginger and garlic. I also add a dash of tandoori Masala . I eat spices. THIS IS A MEAL. Shakes boost sperm count and sperm quality.

I heard somewhere that one should blend their meal. Have not tried it yet but what do I do with the yam and leafy veggies undecided
cook em first stupid. Then its no longer an alive meal, raw.

Oops! Tandoori masala is a mixture of Asian, (North Africa), spices that way you have all at once. Of course those you hate may be included. My advice; ignore if you are not allergic.

Mohawkchic, are you this elegant. Vous etes tres elegant or is it tu es?
Having put it so nicely and sweetly, nothing will keep me away from the fashion pages. Hitherto (whoever uses these words, elegant and hitherto! except I'm trying so hard to impress you!!!), I have deliberately kept away from that page. I am a spendaholic cum shopaholic. ok I have said it on net. Isla has nothing on me. You see I have a thing for Jimmy Choo et al

After, the Holy Bible, FIT FOR LIFE is a good follow up.

@ topic; eat fruit when you have the urge to eat sugar or those calorie-laden food. I wish I'd hate food.
Food / Re: Garri With Milk And Sugar And Ground Pea~~ by zenatta: 5:55pm On Jul 06, 2009
In another thread some would swear by kwuli kwuli and garri.

According to Aloy.Emeka, kwuli kwuli is groundnut balls, ( y not, if we can have cassava flakes and cassava paste! ibid dominobaby et Grizzly what are you eating/drinking now page 2!)  but if your sensibilities are offended,  in another apt definition, kwuli kwuli can also be known as groundnut rolls
Food / Re: Garri With Milk And Sugar And Ground Pea~~ by zenatta: 5:37pm On Jul 06, 2009
Have heard of fried fish and garri, and on tv, plaintain and garri, wondered how it would be like.
However I have drank garri with bits of boiled meat. Strangely ,never repeated it. prolly, did not like it.
My daughter just has to mix millo ( choc drink) with hers. Some people and sugar sha!
Food / Re: Kwuli Kwuli Lovers by zenatta: 4:30pm On Jul 06, 2009

@ Gabry and Mohawkchic

Pls tell me the real difference between the two, for starters, one is smaller in appearance, right. Teach me pls as i would have sworn that both are same
Food / Re: Cake Freak! by zenatta: 3:56pm On Jul 06, 2009
thanks Gabry. I live in Nigeria and people currently in my walk of life never heard of it. Corn-flour cake was made for me on my birthday, years ago by my Liberian friend. Lost touch with her when she went back after the war. Thank you for google tip. You are no longer posting pics I'm missing them. keep up the good but tempting work

I love sponge cakes, the ones that melt in your mouth. the type that the cutlery crushes/crumbles upon contact. You end up eating serving upon serving of it cos it seemingly has no bulk.

A Baker once offered me a mediera cake i hope i got the spelling right wondered at the similarity with a cake I had in my refrgerator then. comparison ended as soon as i sank my teeth in it.
such delight but then Gabry you really are not a taster just a tempter, woe is me
Food / Re: Green Tea by zenatta: 3:25pm On Jul 06, 2009
Food freak that I am it should not come as a surprise that green tea is a must in my diet. Twinnings makes the one I take and its laced with apple. what does it do, beats me! When I am running away from sugar and cream, when I need my nerves to be relaxed, when I feel guilty about all that food I have ingested and have no business ingesting like coca cola $ cake, garri and sugar and evaporated milk, all those cooking oils -the oversaturated PalmOil, I run to Green Tea. For me its a feel-good drink. I hear it has anti-oxidants. I do not knw how I survived without the conciousness of ANTI-OXIDANTS and free radicals. phew!!!
Food / Re: Yet To Understand Phenomenon by zenatta: 3:09pm On Jul 06, 2009
Are you sure that they do really
A study by TRUTH ABOUT FOOD refutes that claim. How about if its the only meal they are having that day and would want to make the most of it at the point your acquaintance,
Truth is excess energy stored as fat makes us fat.
Would see hw this turns out cos this is my major turn on, food and its relationship with people not people and their relationship with food.
Food / Re: Vegetarianism by zenatta: 2:58pm On Jul 06, 2009
was a vegetarian for three years In Nigeria oh yes. It bothered my mother though especially during Christmas and Easter when so much meat was doing the rounds. I had fun. I was slimmer and looked better, Maybe I felt better or 'dreamt' better cannot remember. I was however what I'd call a social vegetarian cos I got high on people's reaction when I told them I was one. I remember one day in the aircraft, I was doing/making Shakara, I rejected what the air-hostess was offering and shakararily pointed out I was a vegetarian but could have something that had egg in it. ( Vegetarian or vegan what's it to be?) That was all the air hostess needed. Bad mouthed Nigerian woman, she gave it to me not forgetting to add bad manners for measure.Days of Nigerian airways!I must have still been in shock when I arrived Nigeria
Last days of my puttin on airs
I would still want to be a vegetarian for health reasons o. who am I impressing now? My daughter is a natural vegetarian if there is anything like that
I know I would love tofu. Am weird really
Family / Re: Childs Name by zenatta: 12:14am On Jul 05, 2009
Congratulations for your grandson
Uzo means a path or road (literaly)
Nna means Father (and or predecessors)

the name could mean Father's Legacy. But could have a deeper meaning by the parents or who named the baby. Any which way, the name is a celebration, admiration honor, compliment for the Father and what he stands for.

Father (and or predecessors) may be a great warrior, a king or a moralist etc
A beautiful name celebrating a renowned Father.

This is what I can come up with, not an expert.
Literature / Re: Help: I Want To Learn : by zenatta: 9:13pm On Jul 04, 2009
Writers kinda know they can write so I believe you. Do you want to make money with your writing or do you want your locality to be the sole peruser of your work. Its ok to write in your language if you are teaching bored children whose parents forgot to teach them their native tongue or if you are in adult education, a teacher maybe.

Use the English Language, the formalities as you put it, is what makes it more fun.The idiosyncracies of the Eng lang is just mind blowing.
Wish you pen-to-paper in your writing

Nairaland / General / Re: Does Nairaland Creator Deserve Praise by zenatta: 6:54pm On Jul 04, 2009
Since NL, I have not really visited other websites not that I know much anyway. Stumbled onto here cos of a question on forex in 07 and later, three months ago about a Nigerian actress. Since then its been worthwhile kinda, to browse, reading and hearing from people who have your same experiences.
And I laugh so much at the posts, its ok to have something that makes you laugh.
Will it be too much if I say I have fun here.

Is there any thing like a natural builder! Oophs my bad.
I love to build. For me I would rather build than buy cos I love space and the use of it, l love driveways, hallways, 60/40 living rooms,17/15 parlours, hugh kitchens the hugher the better, large patios one that can sit about ten comfortably, 8/8 bathrooms.
Will it be a wrapround patio, or a veranda or even the the type where you sit at the immediate entrance of your home wit visitors, don't knw what its called.
And columns nko. Doric, Ionic or corinthian. what is it be.

I confess I only get captivated in N. home movies when I see the grandiose architecture but its not about grandeur really
Also I carry a measuring tape in my bag ( this is a mess when I go to banks), for when I see a house with beautiful propotions. I also give unsolicted advice anytime I walk into a building site, invited of course. I know I'm being rude but cannot help myself, really, honest!

Hi SeanT21, I meet you again. Thanks for the audio book suggestion,

Cassava is the same I guess, the making of garri should be the same too I guess but I know definitely, not maybe, that the garri my friend brought from home was very nice- (and thats putting it mildly for fear of being called unpatriotic). Who knows maybe garri has its idiosyncracies. woww see me knacking grammer for garri - my gym instructor should see this
Food / Re: Yogurt Fans Come On In! by zenatta: 3:45pm On Jul 04, 2009
so unfair you guys have choices. Fan ice for my daughter (she's a fanatic of YGHS) and I, except when I go the extra mile to buy in the large stores out here but nepa or phcn wont let me refrigerate for long. My daughter converted me so up till this day I am scared if I do not store it well, the bacteria and stuff. Apart from one made by Fan ice, we eat FruchteGut by Mertinger, which is our high point!
Food / Re: What Do Think About Suya ? by zenatta: 3:26pm On Jul 04, 2009
To anyone who cares to listen I will swear I do not eat meat. Why must I with all its attendant bad press. I avoid it in my meals. Suya! wow! it'd be totally wrong to say meat and suya in the same breath. One is not the other. I love love suya. My mother used to keep some till the day after and at breakfast heats it up in a large pan where we eat right off the pan.
these days I use the spread, the pepper to eat my rice. dont say yuk say zenatta I'll try it.
Food / Re: What Can I Use To Replace Palm Oil In Soups? by zenatta: 3:11pm On Jul 04, 2009
Its not that I hate Palm Oil but I want to cut it out of my cooking. I am a wannabe health freak. Cos I want to see the 'redness' in my soups Olive Oil and such 'white' oil is out. I use plenty of tomatoes and red peppers instead. The resultant sweetness disturbs me but dont know any better yet. Also I keep my diet simple like african soups once a week.
when I go overboard, I eat rice with the spread mallam gives me when I buy suya, yeh thats me

Dispenser of grace and favour, dispeller of sorrow, fears and doubt, the earnest of our hope I praise You.
Your praise will continually be in my lips. I praise You because You are the king who dwells in Heaven, You do whatever pleases You.I praise You Lord for You are the Lion in the land. Nations are nothing and emptiness to You, the waters see You and they are afraid, the depths of the seas see You and they are troubled because You are the King over all the earth

I thank and praise You for today. I can perceive the arm of Your strength so I look forward to today. M and I give you praise and thanksgiving. We are grateful Lord. We sing our praises through Christ our Lord Amen.

I will exalt you O God my king, ceaselessly I will praise You. M and I will declare Your great mercy, Your constant love and Your great compassion. We will tell of the glorious honour of Your majesty, how every thing must bow before You. Father it is only the whispers of You that we hear. Fear and Dominion are with You , You keep Your heavenlly kingdom in Peace. We praise You for You are in the height of heaven, sun and moon bow down before you, heavens declare Your Glory and the sky displays Your Strength.day and night keeps its covenant with You .
Rebuker of the sea I worship You You who divided the sea when it was roaring I adore You. I worship You in the beauty of Holiness You whose name is Holy, crown of glory, Royal diadem, Lily of the valley who is fairer than ten thousand to my soul

Father make M and I to love You deeply, that way we would never ever want to be away from You. Who do we have in heaven but you O Eternal Creator. All glory, all Adoration be unto Your most holy Name in Jesus name. We praise You through our Lord Jesus Christ who reigns with You, one God. forever and ever Amen
Religion / Re: Pastor Adeboye Says Pray Btw 11p.m To 1 A.m by zenatta: 8:35pm On Jul 03, 2009
DYNAMICS OF PRAYER

'For where two or two or three are gatherd together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.'
Matt 18:20

'If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn away from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and forgive their sin and will heal their land'
2Cor 7:14

Now the second verse becomes even clearer to me. Nothing would have gingered Nigerians to pray en-masse. If the text message did, then its a good thing.
Romance / Re: Me,my Pastor, and The Big Secret by zenatta: 7:02pm On Jul 03, 2009
Life has dealt some rough hand at me. I am so depressed and lonely.More depressed than lonely since I can still sleep with men, pastors not being exceptions. I get invited to a church on one of my frustrating days. I look up and down, I decide why not anything is better than spending another day at home. You see I am a black American and there are somethings we cannot control. Nigerian girls? those ones are paki, nothing do them!

In church I listen to the sermon and its Altar call time. Last week, I remember Sikira or Risikat had suddenly become born again after such visits to a church, pentecostal nonetheless. Are the other denominations any different? (ALL HAVE GONE ASTRAY ALL NOT ONE IS WORTHY). @ topic, even wen Sikira 'accept' she still go sleep for em bf house, so make I go too and since I am so lonely the church being a classified add center - in my opinion - maybe I go see some friend

My bad ,I did not knw it then, was that I allowed myself to be so vulnerable,(DO NOT COWER IN THE DAY OF ADVERSITY) and did not seriously consider what being a Christian entailed ,(WHO BUILDS A HOUSE AND DOES NOT TAKE THE COST FIRST), y should I, its become fashionable to be a Christian. ( THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS NOT MEAT AND FISH OR PASTORS VISITING ME ALONE AT HOME.) I hardly ever read my bible, changed my lifestyle to the best of my ability; since it is God who works in me both to will and do good,or even prayed for the matter. Did I attend classes in church to fortify my conversion?[/-i] So when Satan came He found me fallow, house clean-swept waiting for his occupation

Remember I was lonely and depressed. Do you know anything about depression at all? It can land you at Yaba apa osi I was not treated for depression,. Come on nawg who ever takes those things seriously except hollywood stars and rich Americans who give their children funny funny names. I go treat myself so I used Church as a cover instead of facing realities and to meet people, men also if you please.

Truth is I do not remember if I made a serious committment, y'knw like putting my feet down not to commit some atrocities after now. But I loved Church. Men!DID I NOW!
The first time the pastor came on me, I did not have the strength to refuse O jare. Body no be wood and I be black American. I have needs. Why should I bother to teach the pastor the right path to follow, he should know better and besides if I told him I may loose a friend. I will risk everything to be befriended. I looked the other way when a bible carrying pastor never prayed in my house when we were alone. Na wa o.You want me to tell him to stop what he doing?Oh no what happens to me then. Of course I knw right and wrong, thats what parents are for and even if they don't tell you the amebo neighbours would, don't look at me that way, I know what I'm doing. Pastor thinks he is using me, I wil use him too and when I am fed up I will make it seem to NLanders alone, that he is the bad guy. Pastor never jam and if he is not careful his lovely wife may hear about it.
