I had the honour of meeting Ojukwu on 4 different occasions. A childhood friend of mine is from the Ojukwu family. Also, a friend of mine later became a bodyguard to Ojukwu. I remember Ojukwu saying that he was a captain in the Nigerian Army when Nigeria got her independence in 1960 and things started unraveling fast. Ojukwu said that it was all well and good when the British were in control of Nigeria but that when the British transferred power to Nigerians, the problem began as to who should control what, when, how and why. The divisions in Nigeria became apparent that the various ethnic nationalities could not come together under one umbrella. Personally, I have long since come to the conclusion that Nigeria is waste of time. Nigeria was like a house owner who has a Dog,Cat and Rabbit in the house as pets. As long as the House owner was around, the pets behaved themselves but when he left, the three pets fought themselves for supremacy and in the process, destroyed the entire house. When the British left Nigeria, the Yoruba/Igbo/Hausa-Fulani man began their own fight. All 3 basically do not like each other and they should never have been in one country. The result of these 3 people being together has been the death of milions and many more are still going to die. The question is, why are we Nigerians? 200 years ago, we barely knew each other but Lugard came from Britain to tell us we are one and we have killed each to remain one long after Lugard took our resources and returned to Britain a very rich man. It makes no sense. As in the 3 pets, it is time to rehouse everybody so that we may know peace. The Yorubas have their seaport, industries, Education and even oil. The Igbos have their trade and commerce,Industries and Oil. The Northerners have their agriculture, huge deposits of solid minerals and even reported deposits of Oil in the Chad basin. So why are we together killing each other for the sake of Lugard? Let us all go our different ways and admit to ourselves that the experiment called Nigeria was a colossal mistake and a monumental waste of time. Everybody has to return as they were before the White man came to make us Nigerians so that we can know peace. Let us go back to administering our selves as we know best.

There is a popular saying that to keep Nigeria one is a task that must be done. We need ourselves more than ever. There is strenght in our diversity and if properly utilized we can build a stronger Nigeria. The Igbos really need to drop this idea of Biafra because it is dead on arrival. Secession is not the solution to the high poverty rate in the south east neither will it eliminate greedy politicians who have refused to let the SE thrive. The igbos need to look inward and look for ways they can develop their region within the Nigerian context. We the Yorubas are not bothered about breaking away. We worked so hard to develop Lagos and the South west so everyone can thrive and this is why the igbos and other tribes keeps flocking to the SW to tap from the potentials and opportunities Yoruba land has to offer. This is the kind of mentality the Igbos need to develop. South sudan broke away from sudan and still nothing has changed because they remain poor and depend on aids to survive. The igbos need to work together with every section of Nigeria so they can be relevant in the Nigerian system instead of calling we the Yoruba's slaves to Hausa-fulani. The igbos are the real slaves here because they are the ones in bondage and yearning for freedom. The igbos should remember the last civil war and never allow Nnamdi Kanu to lure them into another blood bath. Biafra is a dream that cant be realized. We will support the Hausa-Fulanis to resist any form of secession. We will defend the unity of One Nigeria just like we did in the late 60's. A word is enough for the wise.

SAY NO TO BIAFRA

GOD BLESS OUR UNITED NIGERIA.
What is Nigeria?
An illegal amalgamation of unconsenting ethnic groups?

An artificial creation of the white man?

A forced marriage?

A business organisation set up by Lugard to make money?

A highly derogative term invented by Lords Lugards girlfriend after she heard about the river Niger?

Take your pick in the above. Nigeria is an illegal entity that has no shred of legitimacy. A country is only gotten by the direct permission of the indigenous native people, not by force. It is the God given right of Igbos to decide what they are, Biafrans or Nigerians. It is not for Lugard or Yorubas or Hausas to tell us who we are. 200 years ago, all these people didn't even know each other, now they shout 'one Nigeria' because Lord Lugard came from Britain to tell them it should be that way. Nigeria is a fraud, Nigeria is a forced marriage, Nigeria in its self is an act of illegality.

I don't know what this blame game is all about. We Igbos did not believe in the credibility of APC or Buhari and didn't vote for them. If anything, we were true to our beliefs. Political appointment isn't everything. Nothing about Buhari or APC has convinced me that Ndigbo made a mistake not voting for them.

My beef with Lugard? I'm a Biafran, nothing concerns with Lugard. The beef is people like you who are answering the slave name the man bestowed on you people. Go and rid your self of colonial mentality and acquire a sense of self determination then come back and tell me who you are. The Idiosyncratic Nature of the agitation of a So called Biafra republic is nonsensical and ambiguous, there is no sense in it whatsoever, rather the struggle and the agitation for a republic of Biafra by the Ibos have turned them against every Nigerian, and this will have very dire consequences for the Ibo children yet unborn and even the current ibo people in Nigeria, the agitation for a republic of Biafra by the Ibos has shown Nigerians the true Nature of the Ibos, and it is very disheartening, because this agitation proves that the Ibos are very selfish and myopic, why do the Ibos constantly clamor to be killed? Why do the Ibos constantly seek to assert themselves on other Nigerians? These and many other questions are what most Nigerians are asking in their hearts, why can't the Ibos be content? Are the Ibos suffering more than the people of the Niger Delta, whose environments have been degraded and their sources of livelihood destroyed over the years by oil exploration? The Ibos have proved yet again that they can not produce a Nigerian President, and to be honest, I think it would take a very long time before the Ibos can produce a President in this country, the ibos are the most Tribal Ethnic Group in Nigeria, and it is because of the Ibos that Nigeria has not developed much since independence, because of their constant retrogressive activities, if Nigeria had not fought a civil war, Nigeria would have developed faster than we have developed, and now in this modern age of reasoning the Ibos have come again, like spoilt children, clamoring to kill all Non Ibos living in The "Zoo" called Nigeria. But the truth Is this, the rest of Nigeria has now seen the Ibos for who they are, and they are nothing but selfish and arrogant people, and if it'll take president buhari in sending the Military to the east to quell this current Insurgency brewing there, then I support it wholeheartedly, because the Ibo people clamoring for a Republic of Biafra, are Deluded, and disillusioned, maybe the Nigerian Army can help wake them from their Delusion. Long Live The Federal Republic Of Nigeria.
If you know that Igbos are selfish, myopic and vindictive, why do you want to still remain in the same country with them? Why not let the people go their way? But if we Igbos declare Biafra tomorrow, you people will come for us. The funniest thing about the whole situation is that Biafra is a country founded by Africans while the sacrilege called Nigeria was created by the White man. So which of them has more legitimacy? I suggest you take your "One Nigeria" and return it back to Lugard in Britain where it came from
Politics › Re: Suprising Truth: Ahmadu Bello Was Justified In "Northernisation Agenda" by zendy: 8:21am On Sep 12, 2015
ItsMeAboki:
The Sardauna was merely vocalising what was normal in all the other three regions (West, Midwest & East) at that time; he like his regional counterparts was protecting and working for the best interest of his people.

That easily explains why his speech didn't raise any eyebrows then or was not considered out of place by any of his contemporaries; his present critics are only doing so out of political mischief or at best out of ignorance of the realities on ground at that stage in Nigeria's history, when it once existed as a regional country with regional champions in healthy competition with one another.

The Sardauna was also correct about the Igbo desire to dominate (which is not outrightly a bad thing but could be a problem if it should become disproportionate, especially in a multiethnic mix such as Nigeria) which also could explain for the event that followed, eventually costing the Sardauna his own life along with many innocent others.

Because of this desire to dominate, Igbos couldn't stand the fact that northerners were at the helm of affairs in charge of the country, they hated that Hausa/Fulani (who they deem as inferior) were in fact dominant over them.

When they realised they couldn't change things through the ballot box; they then instead decided to do it by force, through the barrel of the gun.

The primary executioners of this reversal, the Igbo coup plotters, were themselves short changed by another Igbo man, Agui Ironsi, who took over power and furthered the Igbo agenda by demolishing the regional system of government that was hitherto in place and replaced it with the unitary system (we have inherited till today) in order to give him (thereby Igbo) full control over the entire country.
He furthermore completed the Igbo agenda by appointing his fellow kinsmen into key positions in government and the civil service.

That along with his fellow Igbos openly taunting northerners about the lopsided killing of their leaders (the Sardauna & co) and changes clearly giving Igbos undue advantage over northerners, were what that broke the camel's back and led to the northern led counter coup of July 1966 which brought Gowon into power.

In short, we are all now paying for this Igbo sin to force change and dominate everybody; they have ended up derailing and messing up the whole country - after doing so, they are now blaming everybody and wanting to jump ship for Biafra - quite unfortunate.
Much of what you wrote here is deceitful and full of half truths. The first coup in Nigeria led my Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu has often been touted as an Igbo coup but in reality, it was not. This myth of an Igbo coup was thoroughly trashed at the Oputa panel and debunked by the writings of the major participants. Refere to Ben Gbulie's '5 Majors' and Ademoyegas 'why we struck'. Ademoyega is one person who has no reason to lie for Igbos, he was in jail in Biafra through out the war. Nzeogwu and co struck because they unhappy with the horrible political situation in the country at the time, it had nothing to do with Igbos domination. If the coup had really been about Igbos taking over, why would Igbos like Ironsi and Ojukwu be fighting the same coup that is supposed to benefit them? Every coup has ethnic coloration, as usually, it is people from a particular section of the country who are the ring leaders but to allude that the first coup was for Igbo domination is nonsense. But let's just assume that it was true and it was the grand plan of the Igbos to take over everything. It in no way justifies the massacre of thousands of defenceless men, women and children. People who say that Northerners where provoked into committing wholesale murder sound morronic. It doesn't matter if the Igbos taunted the Northerners about the death of the Saduana or not, in law, provocation is not an excuse for murder. anywhere in the world. Over 50,000 people were massacred all over Nigeria mainly in the north but Gowon could not marshal troops and stop the killings but when Ojukwu finally lost patience and declared Biafra to protect his people, that's when Gowon now found Soldiers to fight a war. One last thing I want to say is this lie about Ironsi introduced unitary rule. Ironsi never introduced the unitary system. What Ironsi did was to promulgate a unification decree which allowed him to rule as a military leader. All 4 regions were still in existence as at the time Ironsi was killed and all 4 still had resourse control and fiscal policies. So please tell me, how did Ironsi introduce the unitary system? It was Gowon that came in, abolished the regions, created States then took away resource control and federal fiscal policy. Gowon introduced the unitary system not Ironsi and did this to keep Nigeria under Northern domination. Little wonder that to this day, the North opposes return to regional or any sort of restructuring. Infact, the introduction of the unitary system in direct contravention of the confederation that Gowon signed and agreed to in Aburi,Ghana, was the the last straw for Ojukwu. Biafra was declared and the rest is history. Everything that has happened in Nigeria directly points at the fact that we are all better of apart than together because all we do is kill each other in the quest for political control

The OP is one crafty individual. He completely sidelined the main issue that was wrong with that video clip of the interview with the Saduana. The Northernisation policy was never the problem. The main issue was what the Saduana said about Igbos because it portrays the bias the northerners already had against Igbos which would be one of their reasons for the massacres they later carried out. The malicious intent of the Saduana is not lost on anybody. He deliberately painted the ambitiousness of the Igbos as greed. What is wrong with an Igbo man aspiring to be head man of a camp within a year? The Saduana was vindictive

You have never seen violent riots before in your life. And you have never met those who had to deal with the pain, losses and aftermath of a war.

Otherwise, you would have recognised from Nnamdi Kanu's inciting statements, that such hate speeches fuel conflict between tribes, ethnic groups and communities. And by the time such conflicts escalate into conflagrations, the likes of Nnamdi Kanu would be nowhere to be found. It is so sad that people cannot learn from the lessons of the past. shocked

The day you become a victim of a mindless violent riot, not to talk of a conflict, your thinking pattern would be reset. sad

Please do your research before coming here to recycle empty statements. You can have your Biafra. What does not make sense is why numbskulls like Kanu think they must denigrate and vilify Nigeria, in order to have their Biafra. Nations are not borne through hate speeches on the internet. So kindly think deeply before you insultingly call others 'slaves', and kindly get a life ! sad angry
Anyone is allowed to vilify Nigeria. Anyone is allowed to use hate speech. None of these verbal acts are against the law. Have gangster rap songs? Some of them are full of hate and inciting statements. But have you ever heard that any gangster rapper was arrested because of his work? It all falls under freedom of speech. So if you see anyone denigrating Nigeria, it is their constitutional guaranteed right. If you don't like it, walk away. As for this "British created fraud" you call Nigeria. A nation created by the forced amalgamation of unconsenting ethnic groups, it cannot carry on forever. No fraud ever lasts forever.
