Even though you intend to make a subjective analysis, a little truth here and there helps smoothen it up.

Igbos scuttled the regional system, igbos introduced unitary system. Period..but im not putting the whole blame on them..Northerners also played a huge part in this mess and our fellow Niger Deltans with little they get from the FG havent done much either.

We should develop agriculture and mining sectors to supplement oil and also fight corruption like a people hanging on a thread for survival..We get these right and we are ready as a people.

I disagree. Ironsi only promulgated a decree which centralised Government. The 4 regions were still in existence as at the time Ironsi was killed. It was Gowon who abrogated the regions and created States. Gowon and Ojukwu had already reached an agreement where Nigeria would be run as a confederation in the Aburi agreement. The faliure of Gowon to live up to the agreement he signed and the subsequent creation of states in contravention of the Aburi accord directly led to Ojukwu declaring Biafra and the war that followed.

other countries with oil that are mono-cultural such as venezuela and iran also suffer from the dutch disease of oil dependency. they do not have a multi-ethnic population so why do you propose true federalism as a cure for nigeria?

why not a system were all crude profits are used for infrastructural development as opposed the payment of salaries?

No I will answer you. The period Nigeria knew relative prosperity was when there was regionalism. That was when there was equity and fairness in Governance. Nobody could dominate another because the regions retained a large degree of autonomy as well as the larger share of what accrued from their lands. The unitary system being practiced now, besides being a deliberate ploy of the Northerners to keep a stranglehold on Nigeria, is also a conduit pipe of wastage and corruption. We do not need Governors in Nigeria or an all powerful president. Ojukwu declared Biafra because Gowon introduced the unitary system of Government which destroyed Nigeria. The major reason for all the agitation for secession is because of the norths refusal to agree to true federalism or con-federalism just because they are fixated on Oil

The reason why Gowon should be on this list has nothing to do with Ojukwu declaring Biafra. It has to do with Gowon using hunger and starvation as an instrument of war. Gowon was fighting Ojukwu and the Biafran Army, what did this have to do with starving innocent kids, the elderly and women who were not part of the war process to death? Gowon should have let in food aid and medical supplies. Can Gowon say that the real problem of winning the war was the amount of food in the Biafran Soldiers belly? Gowon is a mass murderer.

Gowon is a disgrace to Military uniform he wore. The man is a sociopath who supervised the death of millions on the excuse that he had to preserve the unity of the "British invented fraud" called Nigeria. This same Gowon did nothing to protect easterners as 40,000 of them were slaughtered across Nigeria mainly in the north but as soon the easterners seceded after being remorselessly killed, Gowon marshalled troops to fight to keep them in Nigeria. Why didn't he rally those troops as people were being butchered? Im happy that Gowon is alive to see the Nigeria he committed genocide for become a cess-pit of iniquity. Gowon will still be alive to see Biafra re-emerge.

He can speak for the Igbos because that is his tribe. You on the other hand cannot speak for the SS because the SS is not a tribe. The SS has more than 20 tribes, speak only for the tribe you belong to and not others.

Let me put it this way. A wife or husband has the right to leave a marriage at any time, even a day after wedding. There maybe a waiting time for the court process, there maybe dowries to return and assets to share but any of them can leave at will at any time and for whatever reason.These are even people who signed before an instrument recognised by Law to be together. In the case of Nigeria, not only is the country a fraud because the various ethnic groups where forced into it against their will by Lord Lugard and his west African Fronteer force, it also has no legitimacy because those ethnic groups never came together to agree or sign anything to be together. To even question the right of the Igbos to secede from this fraudulent arrangement called Nigeria set up by the British is an insult. Even Britain that created Nigeria recognised the righ of secession of one of its constituent people, the Scottish people, and granted them a referendum last year to stay or go. There was no noise. The principle here is that you cannot and should not force anyone who wants to go their own way to be with you in a civilised world.

Granted, Igbos are much but they are not the largest. And before you start spewing trash about being in servitude and oppressed next time, take a look at your neighbours up north africa called Egypt. The plight of the Copts there has been terrible being the fact that they are minority and also christians. Almost every year, you will hear of attacks and bombings in the Coptic churches and yet you don't see them trying to secede like you are trying to get the rest of us to do. If you claim to be marginalised and oppressed, please tell me how so and also, what have you don about it before you want to secede. I bet you, if that war indeed comes, you will be the first to bail out and seek asylum and claim refugee in another country.

I don't know why you're making unnecessary argument. Even if Igbos are not persecuted and Nigeria was richer than the USA, it would still be the integral right of the Igbos to decide for themselves if they want to be part of Nigeria or not. The reasons for the secession are not as important as the right to secede.

Of course. Using Ghana for example. Ghana is one of the largest Countries in West-Africa with a population of 27 Million people. Igbos on the other hand are estimated to be between 35-50 million. Do the maths.

Nnamani's 8 year rule of Enugu state can be likend to a 'gangster movie'. The man came in and turned Enugu state in his private property. He recruited cultists from all the higher institution in the state, armed them, then turned them into his own private army. He then used them to silence any voice of opposition to his 'terrorist' rule. He then went on a looting spree. Nnamani who's was just a medical Doctor in the USA acquired hundreds of choice properties across the state and flaunted his stolen money to the chargrin of Enugu state people. He chased away state assembly people who did not support him, chased away his wife and even chased away the the deputy Governor. The 2003 elections that brought his second term was one the most rigged elections in the history of Nigeria. As unpopular as Nnamani then was, he still won that election with a whopping one million votes! While his nearest contender got 19,000 votes. Nnamani then went on to move major institutions such as ESUT, Law School and the teaching hospital to his home town of Agbani. Nnamani delayed burying father so that he could finish his five hundred million Naira country home. If there was ever a devil, it was Nnamani. I pray he rots in hell for all the evil he committed against the Enugu state people.

Alas me and my family are anything but slaves and we certainly don't feel oppressed. If anything we have taken the harshness of the Nigerian clime for what it is and chosen to employ the honest ingenuity that my people are blessed with as a tool to making something of ourselves. You must be one of those Igbos who was born or maybe raised outside Igbo land. The way you wrote 'Mbanu' is an indication of this. I don't expect all Igbos to fight (if it ever comes to that) ,infact, I don't expect all Igbos to support Biafra. There will be a minority who don't want it. Im happy that those like you who are prepared to accept perpetual servitude are in the minority.

I only took u up on one line, where u tried to appeal to ethnic sentiment in your post by saying "he was killed cos he is Igbo".

Both the first set of coupists and the second set are guilty of crime against the state and humanity.

No one is cordoning murder, but the moment u start saying so so person was killed because he is Igbo, people will lay the facts bare for u to see.

You are trying to distort history by saying the man was murdered because he is Igbo. That is totally false as I pointed out. The 2nd coup that led to his murder was the aftermath of the first coup that brought him into office.

Northerners see their leaders as mini-gods. And they believe so much in an eye-for-an-eye.

A lot of people warned Ironsi that he needs to give those coupists a swift trial and accord the normal military punishment to those found guilty. He did not heed the advice despite several warnings that majority of people over there were bitterly calling for justice. Not only were those Northern leaders killed, they were also humiliated both before they were killed and after they were gruesomely murdered.

Ironsi risked his life and those of others by not swiftly according justice. The bitterness arising from his refusal to avenge the murder of their leaders emboldened the 2nd set of coupists to their evil bid.

To you what I just wrote may seem like justification for the 2nd coup. But that is not the intention.

What i'm trying to drum into u is that he was not murdered because he is Igbo as falsely raised by u, but because of his dilly dallying in according justice.

The 2nd coup is equally and definitely a wicked and callous act, but try and condemn it as it is without appealing to ethnic sentiments by claiming he was murdered because of his ethnicity.

Let me ask you this. Do you think Ironsi would have been killed if he was from Sokoto? If he had been a northerner, there would not have been a counter coup in the first place. Ironsi's ethnicity was a large part of why he was killed. Yes it is true that the north held a lot of resentment towards Ironsi for not trying the coup plotters and for centralising Government but the major reason for the counter coup was what they perceived as a dark plot by the Igbos to take over Nigeria, personified in Ironsi. I stand by what I said that Ironsi was killed for being an Igbo man. If Ironsi had been a Hausa man, he would still be alive today.

I think you are just talking. I am Igbo and have not for a second dreamt of fighting in any war so as to achieve a new and independent nationality. I also do not wish for any member of my family to witness let alone participate in any such war.

No matter how people romanticise the struggle for a seperate identity from Nigeria the savage brutality that is war will forever keep me and my kind on the path that seeks a non violent approach. As time progresses so does the nature of warfare assume even more deadly forms. Even if a war is fought for a miraculously short time it will take several generations for a people to fully recover from it... So whatever objective you think you are fighting for you will never completely enjoy it.

Leave all this talk of war for frustrated and unemployed people.

In other words, if are persecuted, marginalised and reduced to the status of a slave, you will accept your status because of the effects of war? That's cowardice. Do you think that people fight wars because it is enjoyable? People fight because they have no choice. I'm an Igbo man who wants my own country and if Nigeria won't let me have it,I fight for it.
