Joagbaje:How do you know this? Were you there? Is there anything in the bible that confirms this, or are you making this up to try and pretend that the bible is not the work of male misogynists? Surely, as a christian you would support people asking questions about faith, unless you know that the more people question, the more they will realise that there is nothing there. If men did not ask questions, it just goes to confirm what quite a lot of women have said about women being the more intelligent of the species. the only way to knowledge is by being curious and asking questions (something that religion is anxious to prevent). |
Dream on in blissful ignorance. ![]() Rapture indeed. |
what is the big deal about a widower getting remarried? Man's wife died - man remarries. Happens all over the world every day. Just because said man is a self-proclaimed man of god does not make said remarriage newsworthy. There are far more problems in Nigeria than the proclivities of a man who cannot wait a decent time after the death of his first wife to get hitched again. supereagle:God had nothing to do with it. Randy old goat clearly could not keep his pants on. ![]() |
The poster must have had really strong ogogoro before the hallucination began : |
unclebros:Why hasn't it happened yet? From your post, I presume you know who to pray to. Why is Nigeria still a mess? Is it that your god is ineffective or unwilling? “Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." - Mark 11:24.Note that there are no conditions in Jesus' words. If, therefore, after so many years of constant prayer, the police (and by extension, Nigeria) is still a mess, it means that prayers do not work. seyibrown: ![]() What exactly does this mean? Frankly, this is meaningless - all this is meant to do is bamboozle people. It is not enough to continually sprout phrases like prayer work. Mindless repetition of an untruth does not make it true. Give verifiable examples of instances when prayers have worked, then we may start to accept it. |
The Nigerian Police Force does not need any prayers from anyone. What the police force needs are honest and dedicated officers, who enforce the law without fear and favour. What police officers need are living wages and respect from the society. What they need is a society where no body thinks that they are above the law of the land, or that they are subject to a 'higher law' from the bible or the koran. As recognised, the NPF is a reflection of the society. We, therefore, need a more equal and a fairer society. We do not need politicians and religious conmen living off the fat of the land, whilst the common man suffers. We do not need pastors stealing money or committing other crimes and being untouchable because, according to some morons, the bible says 'touch not my anointed.' Finally, the police force does not need your prayers, because prayers do not work. It is a waste of time. |
Instead of praying, why don't we just let the experts do their jobs and bring the miners out safely? Why did god allow them to get trapped in the first place? If we have to wait for god to act, well, let's just say that their families will never see their loved ones alive again. Two hands working are far more effective that a thousand hands clasped in prayer. |
imhotep: ![]() I scratch my hairless head and wonder what the hell the above means. More meaningless noise!!! The absence of evidence is evidence of absence. |
TeskyMan: ![]() If you say so. who am I to argue with a person who is so sure of himself. In the meantime, please, speak for yourself. God help you, not me. I do not need non-existent beings to sustain me. |
imhotep:More meaningless statements untouched by reality. ![]() |
HA HA HA HA HA ![]() I laugh in all possible languages, and some spiritual ones. The only ones who think that homosexuality is a disease are the bible and koran bashers. Christianity is filled with 'cured' homosexuals, who visit gay bars when they think their congregations are not looking. Ted Haggard, Lonnie Frisbee, Roy Clements, John Paulk, Paul Crouch, Paul Barnes and Paul Barnes are some names that come to mind. If god could not help these pastors, why should we believe the poster? |
You can neither prove nor disprove the existence of god or gods. But then, you can neither prove nor disprove the existence of the flying spaghetti monster, yet, no one in his right mind would say that that the flying spaghetti monster exists. Seeking realistic proofs one way or the other is, frankly, dishonest. A god who exists in the eye of the beholder is just that - a figment of the beholder's imagination. That is not evidence of the existence of god. The evidence (scientific) so far points to the fact that there are no gods. Having said that, no atheist would ever say that there is no god. The best that can be said is that there is no evidence for the existence of god. Contrary to posts on this forum from some ignorant theists, most atheists are rational people who believe in scientific methods. the day there is a compelling proof of the existence of god, most atheists would at the very list become deists. Of course, it is extremely unlikely that any such proof will ever be forthcoming. imhotep:These kind of statements are meaningless in the context of whether god exists. They do not move the argument forward. A god not revealed in the realm of logic has to be a very subjective being - meaning different things to different people depending on how they perceive him/her/it. Clearly does not help in determining whether god exists. There cannot be anything "beyond all knowledge". These are the type of meaningless phrases that are bandied around in these kinds of discussions. They are are meaningless to the point of dishonesty. |
Billy Hobe:@Billy Hobe Isn't just wonderful when people presume to know more about me than I do. Let me educate you a bit about myself. The only reason I sometimes find Nairaland to be a waste of time is that people like you presume to know what I believe. If is has not been clear to you so far from my posts, may I make it clear to you that I do not believe in the existence of any gods. I do not have a problem with people who want to believe in the old bearded one somewhere in the sky, provided they do not feel the need to impose their deluded and terribly mistaken views on the rest of us. Hope this helps. ![]() |
uche13:there is always one who just fails to see that the emperor has no clothes. Why did Adefarasin is just like all the other conmen - promising what he cannot (and will never be able to) deliver. Of course, all those desperate women will now think that their failure to get husbands as promised by god (Adefarasin) is due to their lack of faith. Ladies, If you want to get married, you are in the wrong place. your pastor has nothing for you except empty promises. If they are still spinsters, surely, that should show them that prayers do not work. |
@Eleba Even you have to admit that your attempts to leave religion out of this leaves you with a ridiculous argument. Homosexuality does exist in nature. You show your true colours by calling this an abomination. Please, tell me how two men having se.x threatens you or your god. I am a married man and have a few gay friends. I have never felt the need to sleep with any of them, neither has it threatened my marriage. Religion is the only - and, in my view, illegitimate basis for homophobia. Before you start bleating on about how the bible (or the koran) forbid it, know that you and your fellow objectors are homophobic. |
annyplenty:I had a dream in which I won $100,000,000. Does that mean that my dream will come true? If there really is a concept like the rapture (which there isn't), people like you will definitely be left behind. Prayer- the triumph of irrational hope over reality. ![]() |
Eleba:How very typical ![]() Missing the point (no doubt deliberately as is usual for theists). The point is not whether anyone has forced me to live by god's rule book, but whether those who scream the loudest about homosexuality do the same when it comes to enforcing other prohibitions in the bible. How many pastors have taken their wives to their fathers' houses on their wedding nights and had them stoned to death for not being virgins at the point of marriage? How many christians have been stoned for being adulterers? Yet we know christians many times over. How many pastors pay heed to "it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man man to enter the kingdom of god"? How many christians have heard "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven"? Why do christians spend their kind looking into other persons' bedrooms? This is a sign of sexual frustration on the part of those who pretend to be pious. I am sure that all those who appear to be outraged about the idea of two men living their lives together spend most of their spare time wondering what it would be like to take it from behind. |
nuclearboy:God's rule book condemns quite a lot of things, yet I do not I do not hear christians get outraged about usury, wearing clothes made of two or more different materials, working on the sabbath and so on. Yet when it comes to homosexuality, they lose all sense of fairness and human decency. What two adult homosexuals choose to do in private is not anyone's of God's business. If they choose to go down the line of a Civil Partnership, I say good for them. All this hypocrisy emanating from so-called christians leaves a horrible smell behind. |
This moronic thread is still going on. Na wah oh ![]() Still finding demons in music. Get a life. |
Seye:"Absolute truth of your words" - really That the earth was created in 6 days, or that god destroyed the earth with a flood?? What truth. Is pluralism such a bad thing?? Probably is to pastors and clergymen because it prevents them from wielding absolute power over the rest of us. It is quite clear that the man has no empathy with those who are less fortunate than him. What is wrong with welfare?? As to exploiting the poor, maybe he should look at himself and people like him. What are the time honoured values of his forefathers?? Bigotry, Slave owning, hypocrisy and so on. I am not surprised that a pastor finds the freedom of expression scary. People are questioning his particular superstition, and he does not like that. The man is a bigoted, moronic idi.ot who believes that calling himself a pastor gives him the right to shoot his mouth off. This is nothing but a stu.pid chain letter. |
Koora:Good for you. Good luck in your search for the truth. However, you will not find where you are going. Belief in god is like the emperor's clothes. Nothing there. |
makajibbz:Wouldn't you like to know? I can tell you now -NOTHING. Death is the end. It is the fear of death that sends people in search of the big fairy in the sky they call god. |
A university is supposed to be a place of learning where future leaders and intellectuals are bred. How can we be rational and sceptical if churches and mosques rule supreme in our institutions of higher learning. Is it any surprise that Nigerian universities are always at the bottom of any league table of excellence. As a lawyer myself, I hope that this idiotic and moronic apology of a person never makes it to the bar. She will be a disgrace to the legal profession. |
If the rapture takes place whilst I am asleep, I would certainly not be raptured. Why? Because the rapture is a figment of somebody's imagination. Fool yourselves and continue to wait. You will die waiting, and that is the end. Meanwhile, sensible and intelligent people are enjoying life - even your pastors are enjoying the fruit of your labours. MUMUs all round. ![]() |
I guess one can say that the theists are just making it up as they go along. @nuclearboy and @ajoguegbe, It is really okay to say "I don't know" from time to time. Trying to bluff and lie your way out of questions you do not know the answers to is really unedifying. I guess my questions cannot be answered because the biblical account of the flood is a myth, no more no less. |
Mr. Allenby is a murderer, full stop. He will always be a murderer, but now he is a murderer without a conscience because he has "found jesus." I would expect a man who has killed people in cold blood to feel shitty for the rest of his miserable life, jesus or no jesus. On principle, I oppose the death penalty, but sometimes, for unrepentant shi.ts like Louis Allenby, I wish. Fortunately, he is wrong about his beliefs in an afterlife. He took all those years I expected to wallow in suffocating guilt for having forced a mother to choose the order in which I strangled her children and wiped them away in a jiff. How very repulsive, yet there are people who would be thanking god that another sinful soul has been saved. What about the family he "wiped away in a jiff"? Did jesus care for them? Of course, the Onion is a satirical magazine. I suspect that that would not stop some christians praising their god for a job well done. |
Here we go again. ![]() Don't these morons normally wait till the end of the year before making their I have told you and I repeat it that this democracy will break this countryOf course, what we need is a theocracy with As for education, we will teach are children to read and study the bible. after all, that is all they need. We will never let them near sciences because learning to test hypotheses leads to atheism, and we cannot have that. ![]() And although we would slowly sink back to the stone ages, at least, we would do so with god on our side. On the other hand, we could all work towards a proper democratic and secular state, where human rights are respected, where people are free to worship whatever god they choose to (or none at all) and where religion is a private matter between a man or woman and whatever non-existent supernatural being tickles his or her fancy. A state where socially useless individuals like pastors, vicars, imams, prophets and the like are consigned to the dustbins they all truly deserve to be at. |
I guess anybody who used the bible as a basis of worship is entitled to call himself a christian. Of course, the fact that there are over 38,000 However, the pentecostals are the worst of a bad lot. They are intolerant, homophobic, anti-women and see themselves as a special elite. The problem with them all is the pick and mix approach to the bible. Ignoring the many contradictions and illogical statements that abound in the bible, each sect picks certain parts which appeal to their bias, and then condemns all other sects that have a different take on things. |
nuclearboy:@nuclearboy If it was a local flood, then you will have to accept that the bible is wrong, and is therefore not inerrant. If the tigers were safe in Africa, then the bible is wrong. The bible is quite clear about what happened. You say that animals local to that potion of earth would have been required to be in the ark. This is a very dishonest interpretation of what is contained in the bible. Of course, this is not the first time christians have been known to lie for jesus. Keep it up. One does not need to make god look proud, uncaring and vengeful. If one reads the bible, one would see that he is proud, uncaring and vengeful. |
Questions for the poster - What were the dimensions of Noah's ark? How many animals did it carry? Were the meat eating animals separated from the others? How did it avoid breaking apart in the face of such violent storms? Who fed all the animals and generally catered for their needs? Who cleaned after the poo of the thousands of animals (I am being generous with the numbers)? Was there sufficient supplies of of, say, bamboo for the pandas, for instance? How long did Noah have to wait for the kangaroo, the sloth, the mammoth and all other animal that had to come from thousands of miles away? How did the polar bear survive in an environment hostile to it? After the flood, how did the animals get back to their natural habitats? How did the kangaroo cross the ocean to get back home? Was it two pairs of each animal or was it seven pairs of clean animals and two of the unclean? How were eight people able to look after all those animals for that amount of time in such close quarters without succumbing to disease? Proper answers please. The bible says so will not do. |
