"If god is good, there must be a hell." These are the kind of inane arguments for the existence of hell. No one has seen hell, no one knows anyone who has been to hell and back. If hell exists (which I do not believe) no one knows what will happen there. e36991:@e36991 I may be $tupid, but I really do not understand this post. Isn't this just someone trying to explain something that does not make sense. You die, you decay, period. So what body goes to heaven and hell? None. This fascination with an afterlife amuses me. Although it is claimed that god created all things, the only beings that appear to have an afterlife are humans -how very illogical. Genesis 1:26 says god "created man in his image", are you now saying that this is not true? In your eagerness to try and explain the unexplainable, you do yourself no favours. |
ogajim:@Ogajim, Surely there is a difference between ciphers and the kind of demonic influences babaearly keeps on finding in music. On the other hand, I listened to some gospel music last night and can swear that there were subliminal messages contained in the music. Now if only I can work out what they meant ![]() I think that it is babaearly who needs to get out of his comfort zone more often. |
nopuqeater:@Frosbel, Answer this. |
frosbel:Selective quoting from the bible. What about the bits about selling one's daughter, or stoning women for various "misdeeds", or women being the property of men, or women not being allowed to speak in church "I shall not permit a woman to talk in church" or various natural bodily functions deemed unclean. |
frosbel:And christianity loves women, doesn't it, or does it? |
@OLAADEGBU What is it with the comics? They are not any good and the messages are crap. ![]() |
Genocide, racism, tribalism, slavery, murders, ra.pes, child abuse, corruption, oppression of women, stealing in the name of god, killing in the name of god, lack of healthcare, lack of education, child labour (I can go on), and all we can pick on are women who abort. In case you do not know, most pregnancies end up as spontaneous abortions (yes aborted by the same god you claim has decreed abortion as the greatest act worldwide terror). |
aisha2: joe4christ:Christianity as a death cult. Na wa oh!!! |
mantraa: aletheia:I have read Genesis more times than you will ever know. It is reportage, not recording. Good try, though. |
@ may kelly Stop shouting. |
I thought that the world ended in 1914 (or was it 1924). Who cares for all these fundie morons who see revelation in everything that happens? Enjoy life for when it ends it ends. ![]() |
All have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of god. I had always assumed that that was christians believe. Is that not why why the catholics invented purgatory because they realised that the belief that even babies will have to go to hell unless they accept christ was unfair to persons who are unable to do so. What happens to those who are mentally ill and are unable to make any decisions for themselves? will they go to hell or can they be saved by proxy? |
@bee444, you are the one misquoting the bible. There is no mention of 'virgins lying about their virgin status' (a wrong use of words but your meaning is clear). It is quite clear from Deut. 22 that the authors of this book expected all women to be virgins before marriage. Deut 22. 13-24 13 If a man takes a wife and, after lying with her, dislikes her 14 and slanders her and gives her a bad name, saying, "I married this woman, but when I approached her, I did not find proof of her virginity," 15 then the girl's father and mother shall bring proof that she was a virgin to the town elders at the gate. 16 The girl's father will say to the elders, "I gave my daughter in marriage to this man, but he dislikes her. 17 Now he has slandered her and said, 'I did not find your daughter to be a virgin.' But here is the proof of my daughter's virginity." Then her parents shall display the cloth before the elders of the town, 18 and the elders shall take the man and punish him. 19 They shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver [b] and give them to the girl's father, because this man has given an Israelite virgin a bad name. She shall continue to be his wife; he must not divorce her as long as he lives.Stop trying to read things that are not there into the bible. If everybody obeys this part of the bible, most single women in churches up and down the would be taken to the doors of their fathers' houses and stoned to death. Verse 23 makes it clear that a woman could be stoned even if she was raped, because she did not scream out. I wonder how many women would scream out whilst they are being raped for fear of further damage to them. This piece of male misogyny is what some people expect us to believe is the inerrant word of god. Some god ![]() |
noetic16:1) Seeing that that god is omni potent and omni-every thing, he could have recorded creation somehow. 2) Faith cannot be evidence because faith is a belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence. |
mak mabel:How do you identify a real born again as opposed to an ordinary born again? Secondly, seeing that there is nothing impossible for god, will he cure my diabetes? Thirdly, What sensible parts of the body should the poster think with before she makes a move? HELP, I am confused ![]() PS - I do not want anyone telling me that god decides which prayers to answer and that you have to pray with faith, as that is not what Jesus said. |
OLAADEGBU:The arrogance of the believer leads them to the certainty that their faith is the one true faith. However, even amongst the christians there is no agreement on what that belief entails. We see arguments daily on nairaland between christians, each one satisfied that all the others have got it wrong. Add into the mix the muslims, Buddhists and others, and one can begin to see why people are willing kill for their beliefs. The reality is that religion is the art of believing that which is not proven and that can never be proven. This is why believers have faith but not proof. Christianity has no better claim to the truth than Shintoism or idol worshipping. |
nuella2:Of course, denouncing one's faith might not save one's life. However, if there is a slight chance that I might be left alive, I would denounce anything the man with my life in his hands at that point wants me to denounce. Do not forget that that denunciation under duress is not proper denunciation. I am sure that god would forgive anyone who finds herself in that situation. Of course, if you choose to die, no doubt, the faithful would say a prayer for you and get on with their lives. Remember, "everyone wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die." |
Most of the posters here seem to be against divorce because it is not biblical. Fine, if the desire to look good in heaven is your sole reason for living. There, however, has to be something said about a god who wants people who cannot stand each other to continue in a marriage because he wants this to be the case. eros:What about Benny Hinn? What about Chris Okotie? People grow apart for various reasons, not only because one had been unfaithful. Are you really saying that such couples should stay together because god wills it? |
Another "prediction" from TB Joshua ![]() The man is always seeing things. It is such a pity that 2 or 3 days before the crash he did not contact the Polish embassy and ask them to warn their president not to fly to Russia. Or maybe just announce in his church that the Polish president would die in a plane crash. Why don't you all just accept that the man is a fraud in everything he does. |

KunleOshob:I already support a few. One more will not hurt me. |
yhwh777: ![]() Very amusing - it is not April 1, is it? |
I would probably deny everything that is dear to me at gunpoint. Most people would. |
Power struggle in church. What is new? MONEY, MONEY MONEY. Even church men get tempted. |
bestman11:What happened to turning the other cheek? Isn't that part of the christian teachings any more? Now be honest, how many people has TB Joshua really healed - How many amputees have regrown limbs after his prayers? How many HIV/AIDS sufferers has he healed? How many sickle cell sufferers has he really cured? How many of his so called miracles have been independently verified? There is only one answer to all my questions - NONE. The fool is the one who accepts these so-called miracles at face value. As far as your imprecatory prayer is concerned, you are wasting your time. Prayers DO NOT work. TB Joshua is sharing his money, so what. I thought that the money does not belong to him, but to the church he leads. Get real, these guys need to get used to criticism, they are just as human as you. |
What are we doing there? When did we become a nuclear nation? |
@jagunlabi Acts 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. The Bible is True.
I do not see how Acts 1.11 proves the truth of the bible. Belief that the bible is true is not the same as stating as a fact that it is true. In fact, in a lot of respects, the bible has been found not to be true. If you think it is true, please, prove it. |
babaearly:What does a part Mystic, full liberal christian do when he is not seeking similarities in the symbolisms that musicians employ in their music ![]() ![]() |

streetwize:OWW, that hurt. Below the belt. I am real all right. I am not sure about someone who cannot spell nonsense though. ![]() |
@ poster, everything we do in life is a compromise. You knew that this man was an atheist when you chose to start with him. Even at that point you were not unaware of the kind of reactions that the relationship would engender among your family and friends. No doubt, having weighed up the pros and cons you decided that it was worth having a relationship with him. What has changed? Why did you feel the need to expose your relationship now? I have written about the arrogance of the believer. You have now been exposed to that arrogance that tells us that that we alone know the truth and we alone have the answers. You have seen people who know absolutely nothing about you and your boyfriend condemn both of you because you dared to break the mould. If this post is true, and if my contributions have contributed to the difficulty you now find yourself in, I apologise. Certain things are better off dealt with in private. This is one of them. I suspect that you knew all along what you had to do. Now go do it in private. What you need is the strength to do what is right, without people using your situation as a proxy to fight their own battles. Good luck, and may your god be with you. |
babaearly:You have got to be joking. You think that your crazed moronic rant reveals a different perspective on music. All it does is show you up for the unthinking fundamentalist you are. Demonic influences PLEASE, get real or get a life.In the meantime - ROCK ON ![]() |
