donb06: Then you haven't visited Anambra. The only state where governor is APGA speaker is PDP. an APC senator, PDP senator, YPP senator. LGA elections only 10 was won by APGA. The rest was shared between PDP, ypp and Accord.
Anambra politics is no go area for God fathers oo.. you go collect woto woto This is the way it ought to be. Good for checks and balances. Good governance is easily attainable in such political environment. Great when you have politicians of different political persuasions for instance, from the State Governor as Local Government Chairmen. |
Politics › Re: Court Voids Ebonyi LGA Election, Calls It Undemocratic, Unlawful, Umahi Reacts by zoedew: 4:23pm On Aug 30, 2022 |
Patrickker: Local government elections are always a sham in Nigeria. The entire results always undemocratically sways the way of the party at the helms at the state level. We have often seen that countless times here in Benue too. The state electoral bodies are always willing tools to be used in the hands of the governors. They end up having selections and not elections. Even God should be tired of our case by now. I used to so respect Umahi but time has actually proven that wrong. He is nt really different. That way Nigeria is missing out on the necessaries required to deepen democracy and good governance via multiparty involvement at LGA, STATE AND FG levels of government. If we did things right it should be that even smaller political parties and lesser known but well intentioned individuals can participate in politics and get a chance to prove their mettle in governance e.t.c. |

Don27tiky: nigeria has not reach the level of China and other developed economies yet and is striving to dominate just like others. All those internal problems you mentioned are not peculiar to Nigeria alone. All countries in this world including China have their internal problem but that does not stop them from striving to succeed internationally. I wonder why some of you see Nigeria trying to do like others as a problem Simply because Nigeria is not a nation in the real sense of it. It is an expired commodity of sorts! We must restructure to get restored and have a new beginning. In China, it is commonly agreed and applied across board that the corrupt who gets caught ends up dead but not here where it is different strokes for different folks depending on which ethnic group you belong to. No one strives to succeed who does not have himself under control to an appreciable level. Nigeria is scattered! Take that! How can a mess become a message until it is gathered together and fashioned out into something worthwhile? Buhari has yet to explain to us the 52 suitcases of the Emir of Gusau and the Fulanisation and Islamisation tendencies of his admnistration. You compare China with Nigeria! C’mon! |

Don27tiky: what is Zimbabwe, Togo, chad etc worth that China is interested in doing business with them. Why are countries with developed economies interested in countries with struggling economies? Don’t you know that their growth depends on one another? To answer your first question:- 1. Political economists will tell you that when a nation’s economy is dependent on the economy of another country it’s sovereignty is compromised. That is something China wants so as to enlarge its sphere of influence in international politics. The borrower will always be servant to the lender. 2. China is not an orphan that Nigeria is. Nigeria is, presently, a concept in the minds of a few. Only a well constituted entity can take the benefit of an investment. Tell me, how well has Nigeria taken the benefit through the decades of independence fighting the cause of other African nations? Those nations know that Nigeria is akin to broken chinaware. It is no longer useful to itself as one whole but gathered in fragments by others and for their own good. Benin, Chad, Niger, Cameroon have and are raking benefits off Nigeria for that reason and that way! Second question:- Go get ECOWAS stats and you will see how beneficial it has been to Nigeria relative to the benefits the other nations in the community derive from the gathering. Unless we restructure Nigeria without using military glue it is in vain that we conduct elections. Why is the south and ortom angling to have Wike as VP to Atiku? It is to have someone to challenge Atiku and give him minute by minute worries if he continues the Fulanisation and Islamisation agenda of Buhari which Osinbajo was set to perpetuate if he made it to The Presidency. Okowa is bound to be worse in tepidity than Osinbajo. Okowa’ reticent personality will just keep flashing giant dentition while Atiku plunders the realm! Atiku cannot dare that with a Wike as VP and is reason he chose the placid and next to flat Okowa! |

Don27tiky: True Niger don’t produce but we do produce and they don’t have a seaport to import so we taking advantage of that to get imported goods to them and making cool cash won’t be a bad idea don’t you think? It is an opportunity to also boost exportation or local products. Imagine our local shoes wears making it to Niger legally. Don’t you think Buhari has foresight? What are the Nigerien and Chadian economics worth? If there are sub-regional entities Nigeria should cautiously interact with, they are Chad and Niger! Very insecure climes and tied to France like forever. Funny idea to imagine that France will allow Nigeria take the pride of place in those Francophone countries when they are black Frenchmen. Colonisation by assimilation is a strong brand. |

Reactive measures. Way out is to - 1. Fix power, 2. Take out corruption, 3. Ramp up on ease of doing business across ALL productive sectors, 4. Identify exportable goods and services and actively encourage the utilisation of export Windows. 5. Drastically reduce the cost of running government by cutting salaries and emoluments of political appointees and elected public officials. That way, folks who seek to access public office for financial gains are less attracted to political and elective offices leaving the political space for the focused on service delivery. |

9jahotblog: Osun Tribunal: PDP, INEC Reply APC, Oyetola’s Petitions, Urge Panel To Dismiss Petition
Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday filed their replies to the petition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor Gboyega Oyelola as required by the rules of the election petition tribunal petition.
In the responses, they told the tribunal that all the allegations in the petition are lame and imaginary.
The commission and party in their separate replies to the APC/Oyetola petition maintained that the election was free, fair and credible without any iota of non-compliance with the Electoral Act, 2022 and prayed the tribunal to dismiss the petition for it is frivolous, baseless and un-meritorious. They claimed that Senator Ademola Adeleke fulfilled all qualification criteria and conditions to run for the election and was duly declared the winner, insisting that there was no over-voting in any of the polling units being challenged by Oyetola and his APC.
The PDP further maintained that “it is fully prepared to defend its mandate to show to all and sundry that the election petition filed by the APC and Governor Oyelola is time wasting because it was brought in dead and you will see at the end of the day.”
Secretary of the legal committee of the party, Hasim Abioye who was in the company of some party chieftains and witnesses while filing the reply at the Osun State High Court, the venue of the tribunal, remarked: “Well, as you can see we are before the election petition tribunal, PDP is set to file her own reply to the petition of the APC and Governor Oyelola as required by the rules, the witnesses must be present physically before the secretary to the tribunal to sign their witness statements on oath. “So, all these people here are witnesses and they have come to show themselves before the secretary that they are ready to sign their witnesses statement on oath.
“We have twenty-one days ultimatum to file our reply but this is the fourteenth day and to show that we are ever ready as fit as a fiddle, we are ever ready as a boy scout to tell you that we are not running anywhere. “I think, we have more than a hundred as you can see here and others are still coming so I can tell you that for us to be able to line up and with others still coming we are fully prepared to defend this mandate to show to you that the election petition filed by the APC and Governor Oyelola is time wasting because it was brought in dead and you will see at the end of the day.”
When asked of the exact number of witnesses, he explained, “we will not tell you the exact number but we are more than a hundred.
“When you see the processes you can approach the tribunal to see the list of the lawyers on the processes when they are eventually made available to the public but, I can tell you that we are confident of victory and like I always say, the petition is time wasting and in fact, it is an empty shell.”
“Yes, we are confident that the tribunal will do justice to this. You know they’ve made so much hype about service on the governor-elect, you know the security situation in Ede and so if we are in the state aftermath the election you can see security breaches here and there, so, the administration that has not been able to secure the state properly we cannot just open the gate of the governor-elect for just anybody to walk in and that is why the law has made provision for substituted service.
“It is part of our jurisprudence and if there’s no provision for it in our jurisprudence, we say that is not normal. I’ve never seen any election petition where the petitioner has been able to serve the governor-elect personally.”
https://tribuneonlineng.com/osun-tribunal-pdp-inec-reply-apc-oyetolas-petitions-urge-panel-to-dismiss-petition/ Now that the lawyer has admitted to insecurity in Nigeria it is expected that the Tribunal move its sitting to Abuja. |
