You know most Africans see Nigerians as a disgrace to the continent. undecided
Good point!

We need to leave african Americans alone, look in the mirror and discover why our country has been upside down for the past 35 years...
Culture › Re: The Rift Between African-Americans And Recent African Immigrants To The US by zomby(m): 2:30pm On Jan 09, 2020
Okpa042:
There is a huge chasm between African-Americans and African immigrants in the United States. That chasm has widened over the years. It has caused deep animosity between many African-Americans and their African immigrant cousins.

The chasm has prevented African-Americans from participating in the current economic boom in Africa and it has shut many African immigrants out of opportunities for economic advancement here in the United States.

The problem stems from deep misconceptions, sometimes fueled by the U.S. media. Astonishingly, many African-Americans believe that Africans are backward and primitive. Some make crude jokes about Africans or do not acknowledge the great contribution Africa has made to the world.

For their part, many African immigrants buy into the erroneous notion that African-Americans are lazy and violent.

They do not appreciate the great sacrifice African-Americans made, through advocating for their civil rights, to lay the foundation for Africans to be able to come to the United States and live in a country where both blacks and whites have equal rights, at least in theory if not always in practice.

The different experiences of the two groups

To understand the deep division that exists between African Americans and Africans, one first has to examine the background of the two groups.

Before migrating to the United States, most Africans have typically dealt with white Americans who went to Africa as Peace Corps volunteers, missionaries, doctors or teachers. These Americans acted as mentors and guardians to the Africans and developed positive relationships with them.

When they come to the United States, it has been my experience that Africans can easily identify with white Americans because they understand each other. Before migrating to the United States, the majority of Africans have had little to no direct negative experiences with whites. They simply do not hate them.

On the other hand, most African-Americans grew up in black neighborhoods where they learned from older generations the history of slavery and the cruelty it inflicted on the black race. Furthermore, they have usually experienced firsthand and in their communities the legacies of racism that still exist in the United States.

With this background, many African-Americans are not generally predisposed to trust white Americans, and they look down on those African immigrants who express respect or admiration for white Americans.

How they react to racism and discrimination

A fundamental difference between African Americans and African immigrants is the way they react to racism and discrimination.

African Americans usually see racism as the main cause of poverty among their people. They are also quick to point out instances of perceived racism, even in circumstances where it is ambiguous, unclear or more complex than simple racial bigotry or discrimination.

A classic example is the currently large African-American population in prison. Most African-Americans feel that the only reason there are so many African Americans incarcerated is their race. They blame police discrimination and lawmakers who make laws weighted to punish blacks.

For Africans, after suffering many years in civil wars, military coups and other problems, they are happy to be in a country that offers them freedom. They are ready to integrate into the American culture without getting involved in the lingering racial conflicts. They do not typically get involved in the ongoing civil rights struggle – and that has angered many African-Americans.

How they react to adversity

Perhaps the greatest difference I have seen between African immigrants and African-Americans is how they react to adversity.

Most African immigrants to the United States came here for economic advancement. They do not have any political agenda. They are willing to take any job and do not blame the “system” when they fail in their endeavors.

Most African immigrants to the United States often live in mixed neighborhoods instead of black neighborhoods and they easily integrate. African immigrants know who they are. They are not easily offended when someone tries to put them down. They know where they come from and why they are here.

For African-Americans, there is often a tendency to blame slavery for most of the problems they face today. For instance, when African American students fail in school, some educators blame slavery and do not look for other factors.

However, the time has come for African Americans to realize that while racism still persists, the best thing they can do for their children is to teach them to take full responsibility for their actions. Fathers need to take care of their children and young women need to stay in school instead of having children.

It is only when black people, be they from Africa or America, unite to instill discipline and respect for each other that the chasm that has divided us will narrow. Then we can finally work together to remove poverty from our people both here in the United States and Africa.

Not all african Americans think this way...

The main issue btw african American and stupiid africans is:
1. When you africans leave your shitthole countries and have the audacity to criticize the african Americans in their country.
2. When you africans think you’re better than african Americans
3. When you give birth to your african baby in American, return to your shitthole countries and then send the child back to America after 18 years to simply milk all the things (you did not work for) American citizens work hard/ pay taxes for
4. When you leave your shitthole countries to simply milk the American system, either by your fraudulent activities or by collecting govtmnt money that you do not deserve.
5. When you open your goro infested mouth to castigate the african Americans without taking a time out to completely understand their various backgrounds and history.
6. When you leave your no light shitthole countries to complain about the American system.
7. When you finally obtained your blue passport (become a voter) without understanding that a few african Americans died many years ago fighting for the rights to vote.

Can you imagine, a bunch of clowns running to Nigeria to milk our system and also criticize everything about Nigerians?
Do you guys remember how the Ghanaians were treated in Nigeria many years ago?

Africans should simply shut the fuccck up, learn to understand the history of african Americans and stop looking down at them....For sure, some of these people (African Americans) are more decent by far than average voodoo mugger Africans

Before you advise the african Americans you should first advise the area boys all around Nigeria and also stop collecting bags of rice to vote for those leaders that continue to sink your shitthole countries

It is obvious that this lady knows nothing about Trump.
None of Trump's policies benefits folks on wheelchair, in fact, trump is known to mock disabled people.
Trump is a cheat, a scammer and a sick dog....The world doesn't need this type of leader; a leader that systematically promotes violence, and division. He has no respect for anything, when he shows up on the tv folks ask their children to run into their room...simply because the man is morally bankrupt, there is no limitation to the rubbish that comes out of his mouth

It is very important to know one or 2 things before supporting any leader or anybody; ignorance simply describes a person that deliberately ignore facts.
Trump doesn't deserve any topic on this forum.

Politics › Re: Is Sowore Going To Be Abandoned Just Like MKO? by zomby(op): 3:25am On Dec 13, 2019
It is very disturbing that people in Nigeria, especially the youths and the Yoruba hot shots are allowing Sowore to remain in the detention for this long ...I just can’t believe it.
Sowore’s case represents a typical case study of why folks in general do not want to fight or do anything for Nigeria or Nigerians; Sowore returned back home from the usa, he wanted things to change for better, he contested for the presidential election, he lost, but then continued the fight until he was captured like a street dog.

The man has now been caged for over 3 or 4 months without any relevant Nigerian icons to step up to speak up or fight for his release.

It is business as usual in the country aka suffering and smiling....Due to the lack of courage and determination among Nigerians (in regards to rescue their country), this suffering and smiling mode may continue for a very long time, while Mr Jones (the politicians), and his family and friends continue to live their lives to the fullest.

Very sad!

A president that doesn’t know where he is majority of the time has absolutely nothing to offer us....I still don’t know how Nigerians (the brightest people in Africa) allowed a cow seller to lead the giant of Africa.
The confused man remains the greatest disappointment/ mistake of the 21st century.

This must not happen again.

And it makes me sick to witness an empty-headed man leading the most intelligent people (Nigerians) in Africa. How did we allow this to happen?

Sowore is back in detention......Shame to the Nigerian youths, shame to Oshibajo aka a toothless pastor VP, shame to Tinubu, shame to Oni of Ife, and shame to all Nigerians in general...for allowing this (the re-arrest of Sowore) to happen. Its 2019, people!

Freedom is not free...ALL NIGERIANS WILL CONTINUE TO SUFFER UNTIL THEY ARE BRAVE ENOUGH TO FIGHT FOR THEIR RIGHTS.

It makes no sense to continue to paint a car that has a defective engine...Instead of constant spending on painting the car, why not spend the money on fixing the engine?

Public toilet in a country where more than 65% can’t afford to have a decent toilets in their homes? Why not spend more time and money focusing on constructing better schools, better hospitals, better roads, better power supply, better water supply and providing employment opportunities for the enormous amount of young Nigerian graduates (the future) that are sitting at home doing nothing?

Majority of our leaders in Nigeria simply have no basic common sense. If they can’t steal, they can‘t think.

Sad! Sad! Sad!
Celebrities › Re: Linda Ikeji: I Was Too Picky With The Successful Men That Came My Way by zomby(m):
What most Nigerian women continue to miss on a regular are:
1. A successful man doesn’t guarantee a successful relationship or marriage
2. A successful man today may not be as successful as you think tomorrow.

Instead of focusing too much on outside materials, outside pictures, and what others think about you, why not look deeper and discover other fantastic things about your dream man?

Many Nigerian wives are so poor today because the only things they have are cars, money and houses...but happiness is missing, and may be missing for the rest of their VIP lives.

Don’t misunderstand me, there is nothing wrong with successful men or seeking for a successful man, but just don’t make it your number 1 priority...There are too many other great/ important things to look for when you are looking for the man of your dream.

It is well!

Politics › Re: Seyi Makinde Buys New Police Patrol Cars by zomby(m): 3:34pm On Oct 31, 2019
Using cars as police patrol cars in Ibadan is not a good idea, as majority of the roads are in a bad shape.
It doesn't make any sense to need the assistance of police, but due to the bad roads and the available patrol cars they are unable to get to you.
Pickup vehicles or affordable SUVs would have been a better choice...Innoson motors has a few affordable SUV vehicles, why not use one of these Innoson SUVs?

We just simply don't use our common sense before making decision...especially the Nigerian leaders.

I give these cars 15 to 18 months before they start falling apart one by one.

In a nutshell, Seyi makinde's admin just made a good move that lacks basic common sense.

Politics › Is Sowore Going To Be Abandoned Just Like MKO? by zomby(op): 12:35pm On Oct 23, 2019
Now that Sowore has been captured like a wild bird, what are the Yoruba people doing to ensure that he is set free?

When Kanu was arrested a few years ago, the igbo people did not abandon him...they came together, stepped up and fought until he was released.
But with Sowore, the case is not the same...The man has now been detained for almost 3 months with very little being done by his people.
It seems that folks (especially the Yoruba people) have moved on and Sowore is now on his own.

I respect apostle suleiman but he doesn't know what he's talking about. House of representatives in which Democrats are majority does not have power to impeach a sitting president of the United States. Whatever decision that is reached by them will only end up in the US senate and Republicans are the majority in the senate. Mitch McConnell who is the majority leader is a staunch supporter of Donald Trump same with over 90% of republican senators so there's no way Trump can be impeached. Not as long as Republicans remain in control of the senate.

Obama's plan will fail
I Don’t respect folks that do not know what they are talking about.

Christianity Etc › Re: Apostle Suleman: Christians Pray For Donald Trump Over Impeachment by zomby(m): 11:01pm On Oct 08, 2019
Abdulazeez99:
Senior Pastor of Omega Fire Ministry, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has charged all Christians to pray for the President of the United States, Donald Trump.

Trump is currently facing an impeachment inquiry from House Democrats over a phone call in July 25 in which he (Trump) asked Vlodimir Zelinskiy, Ukraine president, to investigate Joe Biden, a likely opponent in the 2020 election.

It was learnt that in the US, it is illegal to ask foreign entities for help winning election.

Reacting to the development, Trump says it is a witch-hunt and he did nothing wrong.

However, Suleman in a tweet via his official Twitter handle on Tuesday, said that the impeachment inquiry was unnecessary, calling Trump an imperfect man like everybody else.

He wrote;

Where education system is watered down
Where medical system is extremely poor
Where water system or power system doesn’t work
Where infrastructure is no longer exist
where leaders continue to steal like no man’s business
Where pastors are now the top business men
Where Boko Haram and heard men continue to kill human beings like chickens

And this confused man is asking folks with empty stomach to pray for trump...
Doesn’t it make more sense to focus all our prayers to first tackle all our senseless issues in this country??
