I've told you times without number that if you want a political debate with me or any Rochas supporter, open a thread for that. This thread is not about Rochas or a ground for political debate.

This road was constructed by Ohakim or are you in any way trying to claim its Rochas' job?

IGBOSON1: How the fuc/k do you construct an urban road in these modern times and there's no place for pedestrians to walk!?

That is what Ohakim and all past Governors did. All the ones Rochas has reconstructed, they go about claiming the road has been in existence and Rochas just resurfaced it. I'm sure Rochas will soon correct this nonsense and as usual they'll claim Rochas did nothing.

Now take a look at these roads. 1st is Orlu road as claimed to have been constructed by Ohakim and the 2nd is Rochas work. It is easy to recognize Rochas work with the garden lamps. Rochas adds garden lamps to streetlights.

Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Abagworo(m): 10:56am On Sep 17, 2014
This one also shows how Ohakim left Wetheral road and the 2nd one is after Rochas work. Also notice the garden lamps.

IGBOSON1:

^^^I've long since stopped reading all these long PHD dissertations! We're so good on ideas, but are always found wanting when it comes to (full and satisfactory) implementation of said ideas!

Look at a country like Rwanda; a country we can equate with the South East in most respects: just recovering from a brutal civil war; is landlocked; and has no oyel, yet they're making giant strides while all we do is talk-talk-talk!

I remember some glossy 3D videos of Int'l markets planned for Imo, Abia and Enugu, yet after the initial excitement nothing is being heard about them.....especially the ones meant for Imo and Abia in which the state gov'ts were said to be involved! Orji Uzor Kalu went to the media with talks of bringing Asian partners to start a mobile-phone assembly plant and also talked of building a steel plant in Abia, yet all we ever hear from him is political bickering, and i'm this close to labeling him a fraud! There was talk of a World Trade Center for Onitsha (in partnership with the state gov't i think).....that seems to have been a still-birth! The Abia state Governor recently talked of building a airport and seaport in Abia (or at least starting it) before leaving office (don't laugh angry).....we've heard nothing on these ever since! And i could go on and on!

Our biggest problem (discounting the 'Nigeria' problem we presently face) is the kind of charlatans and pretenders we have holding sensitive political positions in the South East!

The construction of Imo gateway international market in oru local government have started.

Jonathan’s Local Content Policy Through $150m Oil And Gas Parks

By Osa Okhomina
— Sep 15, 2014 | Leave a comment

Unlike other policies in the oil and gas sector of the economy, the implementation of the Nigerian local content policy of President Goodluck Jonathan is setting new pace in the creation of local players and economic activities, including the proposed $150 million oil and gas industrial parks.

The proposed park, with the capacity to create oil and gas manufacturing companies in the chosen states of the Niger Delta region, is set to kick-start its first phase, with $10 million in terms of training of about 47 youths and zonal coordinators from the zone and the setting up of a self-growing organic system for businesses and investments.

Unveiling the newly trained-youths at the Aridolf Hotels and Events Centre, Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, the director of Finance and Personnel Management of the Nigerian Content, Monitoring and Development Board (NCMDB), Engr. Ita Anyone, said the 47 youths selected and trained by the board are expected to participate in the proposed increase in local capacity building and utilization of local facilities.

In the unveiled plan for the proposed oil and gas industrial parks, the facilities will be located in three zones including Akwa Ibom/Cross River zone located along the Calabar industrial layout, the Imo/Abia zone located at Oguta community with 25 hectares of land provided for the project.

Also to be served by their oil and gas industrial parks are the Bayelsa/Rivers zone sited in Otuoke community of Ogbia local government area, while another will be located in Ilaje Community of Ondo State.

According to the proposed financing of the project, the Federal Government is expected to enter into partnership with oil multinationals and banks, as the first phase is expected to gulp the sum of $10 million depending on the park’s nature of operations and environment.

The project duration is fixed at 10 years with its structures becoming organic that will grow by itself and operators in the park.

While the representative of the Bayelsa State commissioner for Trade and Investment, Mr. David Agonobi, commended the management of the NCMDB of the initiative, the representative of the oil producers trade section (OPTS) of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Engr.Sola Ogunsakin described the proposed oil and gas industrial park as a new dawn for the economy of the Niger Delta region.

The OPTS, which is a sub-group within the LCCI and made up of both local and foreign-owned companies registered in Nigeria and hold an Oil Prospecting License or an Oil Mining License, predicted that the proposed park will be a success in the region.

The sub-group, which currently has 18 member-companies made up of the Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Dubri, Addax, Nigeria Agip Oil Company (NAOC), Pan Ocean, Shell, Total, Seplat, Neconde, Nexen, Moni Pulo, Statoil, ExxonMobil, Petrobras, Afren, Sapetro and Oando, declared support for the project.

According to Ogunsakin, “Though the setting up of the park and its operation may not be easy, it will be a thing of success at the end. It will motivate huge domestic and industrial activity and attract huge employment opportunities.”

Earlier in his speech, the executive secretary of the NCMDB, Engr. Ernest Nwapa, explained that the concept of an oil and gas industrial park in the Niger Delta region is part of the vision of the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan to take the region away from its present state into a new economic boom.

Nwapa said, “The proposed oil and gas industrial park is not just about buildings. The project will develop a new direction and create more businesses in the region. The park will generate small and large businesses. It will also provide opportunity for research and development. We have mapped out the project not to become another white elephant projects.”

A check through the past achievements of the local content policy of the Jonathan-led administration, under the watch of the NCMDB showed that it has ensured the escalation of the historic use of made-in-Nigeria pipelines by Exxon Mobil recently at its Edop-Idoho Offshore field, secured the placement of over 100 kilometres of pipelines orders in Nigeria’s only pipe manufacturing company, SCC Abuja.

Continuing, the NCMDB boss said, “It has ensured the increase of in-country fabrication tonnage from 1,000,000 in 2009 to 1,200,000 currently, advanced talks with Jiangsu Yulong of China to establish 250,000 tons per annum LSAW pipe mill in Nigeria, initiated the establishment of deep water port in a major upcoming project, developed the Nigerian oil and gas employment and training strategy, which has resulted in the absorption of over 5000 engineers, geologists, welders and other skill sets into the industry and formed the basis of a national skill database.

“The Nigerian Content activities have already generated over 30,000 direct and indirect jobs and will surpass 300,000 within the next four years. NCMDB has designed and launched the Nigerian Content Joint Qualification Standards, an electronic platform for the Board’s implementation of the NOGIC Act, especially its capacity Building & Monitoring functions.

“It has led to the establishment of the Nigerian Content Development Fund, to be used for investment in Oil & Gas infrastructure, provide partial guarantee for service providers, manufacturers. NCDMB developed Indigenous Marine Vessel and Offshore Assets Acquisition Strategy to promote utilization of marine vessels and offshore rigs/equipment with genuine Nigerian ownership in all O&G operations to increase the participation of Nigerians, empower communities, and maximize Nigerian crew.

“The NCDMB has developed an Original Equipment and Local Component Manufacturing Strategy to promote utilization of materials of Nigerian origin in oil and gas industry and ensure the establishment of equipment manufacturing plants that will employ thousands.”

NCDMB to spend U.S. $100 Million on oil and gas parks

Posted by: Editor in Local Content 0

Ernest-NwapaThe Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) is to expend over $100m on its proposed Nigerian Oil and Gas Parks Scheme under which industrial parks will be constructed to boost the country’s oil and gas industry.

Executive Secretary of the Board, Ernest Nwapa, disclosed this at the weekend during the close-out ceremony of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Parks Scheme Trainee Programme held at the Aridolf Hotel,Yenagoa.

In terms of cost for each of the parks, we will start from $10m for the phase one to any number up to $50m to $100m depending on the focus of each park,” he said.

About 43 successful trainees drawn from different parts of the country were presented with certificates of participation at the event which had the training consultancy firms in attendance, among other stakeholders.

Four of the industrial parks have been sited in Bayelsa, Imo, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers States in the first phase of the scheme.

Nwapa said the park would cover manufacturing, services, innovation, research and development and other social activities that communities where oil and gas activities had been going on over the years would benefit from.

“The scheme is specifically for industrial activities and for us to succeed, we have to build it in such a way that it will be accessible to common rural dwellers.

“That is the distinction between this park and the other parks that are all over the place”, he said.

“We will structure it in such a way that it will grow organically so that in a period of 10 years it will come to maturity,” Nwapa added.

He stated that the NCDMB was best placed to provide the design for the scheme, stressing that it fits into the industrial, oil and gas policy of the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan.

According to him, the board has a budget approval of $10m for each of the parks from the Nigerian Content Development Fund (NCDF).

When a small town the size of Owerri hosts close to 120,000 university and polytechnic students with all the five tertiary academic institutions in Imo state located only in and around the town, what do we expect?

Imolites may have to be taxed extensively or successive IMSGs may have to spend most of its capital development budgets or even borrow extensively to sustain infrastructures in Owerri.

FMC, New crossing, Emmanuel college junction, Keke na pepe like soldier ants everywhere. There are more than 21000 KNPs in Owerri; deduced from the registration numbers at the back of the vehicles. These guys pay about N500 daily (according to one of them) to operate. If the information about the daily fee is correct, it means that these guys generate nearly N4 billion P/A for who ever is collecting all the money.

On another note, Owerri has expanded very rapidly. Places like Awaka, Nekede and other places are no longer on the outskirts of town. If you knew Ikenegbu as a residential area; just forget it because is now heavily commercialised like several other areas like world bank etc. There are several new roads but a lot of traffic and I would not be shocked if the population has risen to between 1.5 and 2 million

New market in Obowo by Imo river Abia state boundary. The market is quite busy and that area is beginning to assume its own life as a town. Umuahia is just next door and the market is actually nearer to some people in Umuahia than the new main market in Umuahia.

Mbaise road. I was on my way to Umuahia when I saw a fire brigade truck dashing towards Egbu and I thought they were just taking their new ride for a spin but they were actually on a mission to fight fire ! The Mountain on Fire Church in Egbu was on fire!

The inner streets look the pictures below. Owerri, Umuahia, Aba and Enugu have one thing in common; The streets are very well planned and houses on the same street are never out of line and facing different directions in a disorganised fashion.

Just to show how rapidly Owerri has expanded in the last 5-7 years. The areas in red are now firmly part of the metropolis, where as they were detached towns within the capital territory less than 7 years ago.

So you've gone through this thread and all you've seen is housing estates. You did not see the schools, hospitals, roads, agricultural developments etc. Or you deliberately want to turn a blind eye or like other compromised ones call white black or claim white is not white enough.
