info henry: . Just imagine what how you reason wit all this big grammar you disappoint me.You are saying because those before him performed woefully, nigeria should accept anything he gave us. Don't forget nigerians voted for a change.

I sympathise with you over your lack of discernment. What I'm saying is that since others before him - most notably OBJ - performed woefully, why should he be condemned more vociferously and unfairly than the others? If the others were not impeached for their woeful failures, why should GEJ be impeached for his modest attempts (in just 2-3 years) to clear the accumulated mess inherited from his predecessors, particularly OBJ?

You have derailed. Nobody is talking of the no of years GEJ has ruled. The issue is that GEJ is equally bad. He is as corrupt as the Alams he pardoned. In fact he had a share in Alams loot. Mark my words, GOD WILL EXPOSE HIM SOON. The whole truth will come out one day. Nobody can bury TRUTH. Can you bury God? God is Truth. What we are experiencing now is you spreading LIES, like a red carpet, for the ultimate TRUTH to show up. God's ways are different from our ways.

When God shows up, everybody good and bad becomes a vessel. The good = vessels unto honour; the bad = vessels unto dishonour all work together to bring down the good we prayed God to rein down in Nigeria. Oh yes, God moves in a mysterious way.
GEJ and boys, cook up more lies and keep defending evil. God made Pharoah very stubborn so He can destroy him. For me, I will not waste my time trying to make you people see reason, just like Pharoah, you are not meant to see reason.

why do you hate GEJ so much and at the same time mentioning God. Please my friend say something that you are sure of..

Oil prices were much lower during obj's tenure than during gej's tenure. To he who much is given, much is expected.

You are a little bit slow regarding this issue. The FOI is a phony and bogus law designed by lawbreakers with no intention to ever respect and abide by the same laws the signed into the Nigerian constitution.

There are outstanding FOI requests for GEJ's declared assets and till this very second, his cronies CCB are not only disobeying and violating the same laws the swore to obey and abide by, they are protecting and hiding his assess which is and should be public records.

They are all phonies and crooks..

Why not go to court to enforce the release of such public records? Is GEJ the Chief justice of the federation?

bubadaniel13: OP just a question for the confused Mr Joel Brinkley,Is GEJ the first leader of Nigeria?how many years has he spent on power so far?Nigeria has been ruled by bad leaders for decades and u expect GEJ to turn bad things around within three years, the writer of the article must be dreaming.

Let's call a spade, a spade! GEJ wears a badge of corruption. He uses Mr Ruben Abati a turn coat as his smokescreen to sweet talk the media. Very soon this madness will be put to an end.

I find it hard to take a two bit journalist seriously but no one can deny the fact that things are difficult in the country right now. Its extremely unfair to blame a relatively new administration for over 40 yrs of misrule and mismanagement but does that completely absolve this administration of blame ? I wouldn't say so but at the same time we should realize who to actually hold responsible. I believe and I have always said that it is the job of the central govt to formulate and implement policies for the betterment of a country. These policies are to boil down to the constituent states/regions & lg's but what do we have in Nigeria ? Most state governors refuse to discharge their duties, many so called "working" governors award contracts to their cronies and we are therefore left with substandard projects if at all completed like the airforce junction bridge in ph which collapsed after barely 7 years of construction, state govs stifling the funds of lg chairmen and thereby stunting the growth of lga's across the country. We should ask ourselves who is really guilty of ineptitude ? Is it the president whose job is just to formulate policies or the governors/lg chairmen/councillors whose job it is to implement these policies so they impact directly on the ordinary Nigerian ? We are now in a dire strait where 8 and possibly more of the corrupt PDP governors are plotting to decamp to the only viable option we could have had in the APC one of their reasons being that the EFCC has their case files.
The CIA said some years back that Nigeria would/might disintegrate before 2015, its possible this reporter was planted to sow a seed of discord into the mindset of Nigerians with his article but I urge everyone to pray and work hard for our country to reach the great height we are destined to attain.

PEACE

Oil prices were much lower during obj's tenure than during gej's tenure. To he who much is given, much is expected.

Get your facts right bros. Oil prices were at the highest in Nigeria's history under OBJ. . .and in fact this was almost always the case throughout his eight long years in power. I therefore agree with you that "to whom much was given, much was expected.

I'm with you on this! I also campaigned against him and did not vote for him in 2011. I proudly voted for Buhari. Just last two weeks ago during the area council elections in FCT, a friend of mine who is 35 years old, a university graduate and still unemployed hitherto, voted for PDP candidate in Bwari Area Council after been bribed with #1,000. I couldn't but marvel at the hopelessness of Nigerians!

My friend more schools * nine new federal universities plus alimajeri schs here and there) are being built, more fg roads are being reconstructed, our railways are now working, power is now almost stable, more health centers and hospitals are being built, our airports are now very very beautiful and clean.
We now have very peaceful and free and fair elections here and there, no more fuel scarcity, subsidy thieves are being jailed, even children of big men. If you are not seeing these things, that means something is really wrong with you.

I just provided a table showing oil prices, it's as clear as day light that gej has had oil at about 100 dollars whereas obj had oil at about 50 to 70 dollars. Prices before 2005 where even lower.

sweet_gala: GEJ has tried enough and unfortunately has drawn more anger and resentment than any President ever. When a man lifts a load not sanctioned by God it ends in shame and that is the story with GEJ.

He is not necessarily worse but has been both mediocre and hasn't done better. He is weak and entangled in corruption, his wife is a illiterate (just can't help that feeling) a PhD holder in an anglophone country should have a better control of the English language no excuses.

Is only crime is promising much but changing nothing. If not for the presence of okonjo and Sanusi he'll be a complete failure

You are a big fool, what concerns you with his wife, You must unemployable.

Sunny_bobo, let's not argue just for the sake of arguing. All grades of crude are sold on New York mercantile exchange( NYMEX ) And the price between different grades do not vary by much.

Obj never had the sort of money gej has at his disposal. Oil prices started to rise around 2006 and was about 50 to 70dollars a barrel then. Gej has had only prices over $100 for quite a while now. Yaradua had the Niger delta issue reducing our production levels so he did not have as much money as gej.

What further compounds gej's problems is that there is an expectation of increased supply of crude oil from shale sources and if this occurs, oil prices are surely going to fall. We have little savings, not much investments and a growing disenfranchised adult population so this spells out a revolution to any sensible person viewing our situation.

Again, I have to reiterate that OBJ's government had more money than GEJ's, never mind that the latter was in power for much longer, whereas GEJ's government is less than three years old now.

I agree that the problem of unemployment and other socio-economic problems represent a threat, but this threat is merely incremental as it has always been there, and cannot be placed squarely at the doorstep of GEJ.This makes it ridiculous that fifth columnists are now talking about impeachment when no impeachable offences can be identified.

Stop putting the whole blame on the leaders(though they have their own fair share of the problem) but followers(mostly youth) should also be blame because a larger percentage of us have limited our responsibilities to complains and prayers . jerseyboy: Nigeria's Squandered Opportunity By Joel Brinkley-LA Times

By Joel Brinkley

Just outside President Goodluck Jonathan's office sat 17 ambulances, just in case he or one of his aides fell ill. They were seldom if ever used.

No actual health-care facility nationwide had as many, and in fact a few still have none at all. But as soon as a Nigerian newspaper took a photo of the ambulances and published a story about them, they suddenly disappeared -- probably to an underground garage.

Jonathan is president of Nigeria, which should be among the world's most prosperous nations. After all, it produces an estimated 2.4 million barrels of oil each and every day. With oil now selling at $93.61 a barrel, that's $224 million in income daily. And yet many hospitals can't afford to buy an ambulance. The reason, in my view: Nigeria is the most corrupt nation on earth.

Sure, Transparency International lists almost three dozen states as more corrupt -- Chad, Haiti, Laos, Yemen, Cambodia and the like. But are any of those nations as wealthy as Nigeria -- taking in $81 billion annually, just from the sale of oil? No, not even one of them. So Nigeria steals and squanders more money than any other nation, making it the world's most corrupt, by that measure.

Nigerian journalist Musikilu Mojeed finds all this so discouraging.

"With its geopolitical power, economic resources and middle class," he laments, "no country (with the possible exception of Saudi Arabia and Egypt) has the power to change the course of black/African civilization like Nigeria." After all, Nigeria is Africa's most populous state -- and large, twice the size of California.

So Nigerians are living an opportunity squandered -- particularly now. Egypt is in turmoil. In just the last few days, in fact, many Egyptians have been calling for a military coup -- anything to rid the state of its widely despised Muslim Brotherhood government. And a new report by the World Economic Forum ranked Egypt the least safe and secure tourist destination among 140 tourist nations evaluated.

Egypt has lost its place as the Arab/African worlds' leader, and Saudi Arabia never had it. So for Nigeria, the time is ripe. But its leaders seem interested only in stealing the state's money to make themselves rich beyond imaging. Think about it: $81 billion a year just from the oil, while most every local government official still tells his people the nation just doesn't have enough money to fix the roads, schools or hospitals. (Roads are in such terrible shape that government officials generally travel any distance by helicopter.)

And Nigeria's people -- well, they are as mistreated as any on earth. In only nine nations -- among them Liberia, Sierra Leone and Somalia -- do more mothers die during childbirth. And in only 10 states, including Chad, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe, is the average life expectancy lower. Right now the average Nigerian's average life span ends at 52. That may be why the median age of Nigerians is just 18.

A few months ago, the Economist Intelligence Unit published an evaluation of the best places for babies to born in 2013, given their probable welfare as children and the chance for a safe, comfortable, prosperous life. Switzerland, Australia and Norway were the top three. The United States came in at 16th, largely because "babies will inherit the large debts of the boomer generation."

Dead last: Nigeria. "It is the worst place for a baby to enter the world in 2013," the report said.

Even with all that wealth, only just over half the population has access to clean drinking water, and one-third to a toilet, UNICEF says. Two-thirds live below the poverty line. Only one child in four who contracts pneumonia is given antibiotics, and only about half the population is literate.

The CIA also cites endemic "soil degradation; rapid deforestation; urban air and water pollution." All this in a county whose gross domestic product stands at $236 billion a year, in the same league as Denmark, Chile, Israel and the United Arab Emirates -- prosperous, successful states to be envied.

Goodluck Jonathan is certainly aware of all of this. After all, taking the oath of office, he swore to "devote myself to the service and well-being of the people of Nigeria. So help me God."

Well, just last week he demonstrated who he really is and what he stands for when he pardoned a former state governor who'd been convicted of embezzling state funds and laundering the money. That pardon triggered a broad, angry uproar.

Good luck, Mr. Jonathan. It's time you were impeached.

(Joel Brinkley is the Hearst professional in residence at Stanford University and a Pulitzer Prize-winning former correspondent for The New York Times.)

The issue of GEJ's criminality has been overflogged on this forum. It is not that some of you do not know what the minimum is. It is that we are greedy bastards who take N500 and mortgage our future to these marauders on election day. It is that we are weak souls who are easily swayed by mere mention of names or some religion, or pastors or ethnic group. It is that we allow halfwits like dreamland Billyonaire, Pro01, Sincere9jerian, tahraqa etc, who are hired goons to talk down on us all, why? Because we mortgaged our futures for N500.

If there is going to be any revolution, it must start with these foot soldiers who dwell amongst us. Just like the black traitors who captured and sold our forefathers to the European slave traders for few pieces of silver, they must all be drowned by our chants of enough is enough! They must be exterminated!

I felt so nauseated this evening when someone bothered to remind us that Mr. X did worse, so Mr. Y should not be inveighed. As if Mr. X is the best thing ever created by God. As if it is fine to continue in the path of destruction. As if evil is a suitable benchmark for more evil?

One thing I want you all to know is, insofar as the ND is a part of the FRN, the oil there belongs to all Nigerians, dead or alive. Enough of the blackmail! If this country is going to break-up because we refuse to allow criminals continue in Aso-rock, then it better break up!

Home run, tell jonah to prepare, if by whiskers he misses the judgment of Nigerian mob, the nemesis of the grave awaits him and ofcourse, you all.

To all Nigerians, the American prediction is almost here. It's hightime you took your future in your hands!

Why not go to court to enforce the release of such public records? Is GEJ the Chief justice of the federation?

That's a different issue. The first part was highlighting your ignorance about FOI and requests by the public.

Secondly, there are several law suits in the dockets already, but I'm not holding my breath because the courts are all filled corrupt judges appointed by your corrupt president.

We shouldn't be going to the courts to obtain public records and what the Nigerian constitution supports already. Your public officials are all lawless law breakers.
