Samunique: Don't misunderstand this, the report says "destitude and launatic" i live in ph i'm from west, so nobody is harrasing anybody here. Thanks.
If u are disabled u will understandwhat am saying. Some of dem became beggars because of accident, sickness etc. Is Nigeria no longer one Country? If yes, are they not Nigerians? If they are, deporting dem is not d best solution. Besides, it is unconstitutional. It is only right if dey came from another country.

There's a limitation to freedom of movement. The exercise is only for non-indigene destitute who head to another state without any form of livelihood not non-indigene who have business to be in those state. Come to think of it, if all beggars in Nig. were to converge in p/court,lagos,abuja only, what else ll they constitute if not nuisance? But if every state share in the rehab of this destitute instead of pushing the responsibility on 3 states only, am much sure there ll be no more beggars on our streets.

No Nigerian is treated like a refugee. If Lagos was getting the same allocation as anambra, that is a different case. it is robbing from peter and giving to Paul

Would it not be a good thing if just one of the sanctimonious Nairalanders that has been running amok these last few days puts money where the mouth is, by championing the cause of 'civil liberties' here? If this issue was at all hazy at the outset, surely, you now have an abundance of proof that the internal repatriation-schemes are - for good or bad - more common than previously thought.

Oyo to remove beggars from streets

Hard times now await street beggars in Oyo State, as the government will soon evict them from major highways and motor parks. The state Commissioner for Environment and Habitat, Barrister Lowo Obisesan, made the disclosure while speaking in his office on activities of the government towards making the state clean.

He said all destitute, especially those engaged in street begging, are to be repatriated to their states of origin, even as efforts are on for the commencement of operation to clear all the highways and streets of beggars in the next two weeks.

Kano to clear urchins, beggars from streets

The Government of Kano state, northwest Nigeria has concluded plans to evacuate urchins, popularly known as Almajiris from the streets of the ancient city as part of its measures to discourage streets begging.

The Commander-General of Hisbah Board, Malam Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa said the decision was taken to restore sanity in Kano streets and discourage begging in the guise of Almajiri who ordinarily should be kept in decent environment.

He said government has concluded arrangements to evacuate Almajiri from Kano to various states and countries of their origin, pointing out that the issue of street begging constitute both social and security threats.

RSG COMMITTED TO RID PORT HARCOURT OF DESTITUTES

Rivers State Government says it is committed to rid the streets of Port Harcourt of destitute, beggars and vagrant lunatics. The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Mrs. Stella Toby stated this in her office recently while speaking to journalists. She said that her Ministry has set up special committee to rid off vagrant lunatics and beggars in PHC with the aim of ensuring that the city is free from the nuisance and embarrassment they cause. Mrs. Toby stated that most of the beggars are from neighbouring states and noted that when these beggars are removed from the streets and repatriated back to their states they find their way back to the state.

Earlier in an interview, the chairman of the committee Mr. Mina Jamabo said his committee has moved a total of 113 persons amongst whom are beggars, destitutes and vagrant lunatics out from major streets in Port Harcourt adding that measures are put in place to reduce their presence to the barest minimum.

Mr. Mina Jamabo said that those raided are taken to Rehabilitation Centre Iriebe where they are treated and then the non- indigenes are repatriated to their various states while the indigenes are taken care of until they are fit and then re-united with their families.

My concern is about all these foreign natioals, e.g Nigeriens and Chadians, who are roaming ph sreets with heavy turban on their heads, these could be a potential treat to our security in PH, the earlier we realise this the better for us. These people shd not be overlooked while we are send legetimate citizens out of the state, i think these foreign nationals shd have been our target.

This relocation of destitutes to their States of Origin has been on-going for long in other States but when Fashola carried it out, some people got emotional and cried foul over it(Most likely due to immaturity, hate, ignorance, st0pidity and Cheap Political shots).

This has led to the opening of can of worms of different states that have carried out this same move.

The only thing they now have to hold on to is "They were dropped off at 3am in the morning".

We now know who's been st0pid all along.

@ samunique, are destitudes not nigerians? don't they have right to live in any part of the country? what the governors shld do is to rehabilitate them not send them away. they are in those places because they can not help themselves, so govt shld help them.

Keep defending Fashola. FYI, d list Fashola sent to Anambra state office containing 14 fabricated names did not tally with d names of any of the 72 ppl he deported. Most of d ppl he deported are not destitutes and lunatics. Dey had petty jobs and businesses. Why is it dat Yorubas have refused to b objective over dis Fashola issue? Why do Yorubas keep defending their ppl even wen dey are wrong? You ppl are terrible.
I'm not supporting d act of Rivers state govt though.

Anywhere u see population of black people the following must be present backbiting, PHD, jealousy, tribalism, cheating,backwardness,underdevelopment,hatred.e.t.c

On a final note. A prominent pastor once said one thing that will make many Nigerian christains miss heaven even after been steadfast in the Lord is TRIBALISM,TRIBALISM,AND MORE TRIBALISM. CHECK URSELVES.

Otseh: why can't nigeria be one? what is indigenes and non indigenes in the same country? i thought every nigerian has right to live in any part of the country of their choice, so why this repatration of non indigenes to their state? the one Fashola did has not settled, rivers followed. very soon, even normal people will be asked to go to their states. Another problem is on the way. GEJ shld act fast to stop this madness. many of us take citizenship of foreing countries but we are illegal allens in our own country.

Nigeria is not ONE, and will never be ONE, for those of you who are still doubting the breaking up of the country, this newly adopted measure which began from Lagos state is the first step of dividing the country peacefully by 2014 ending all other methods would be finalized.

Take it, or leave it. The un checked and uncontroled LOOTINGS is as a result of no one would be accounted for after the peaceful break up. To your tents oh Israel.
