Press Release: Soldiers attacked Shi’ites in Zaria, scores killed

At noon today, armed soldiers were seen in the precincts of Hussainiyyah Baqiyyatullah, Zaria, where members of the Islamic Movement were to carry out the hoisting of flag to usher in the new month of Maulud, the birth of the Holy Prophet of Islam.
Similar occasion was previously carried out on the same spot with free traffic flow under the supervision of the Movement’s traffic warders.
When some brothers met the soldiers to understand their mission of the soldiers was, they took position and opened fire indiscriminately, killed many and took away seven the casualty to an unknown location.

Based on the foregoing, we believe that the military had pre-planned this and had acted according to their mischievous script. They came with their cameramen, videotaping the whole incidence while it lasted.
We are however surprised that, spokesman of the military Colonel Kuka Sheka Shamelessly came out in the media and issued a press statement to say, that it was an assassination attempt on the Chief of Army Staff on the order of the Movement’s leader.
Why was it that there were no casualty on the side of the military, if it were to be an assassination attempt by Kuka Sheka?
What happened was never a clash, but a continuation of act of terrorism by the Nigerian military on the Movement, as was the case in the past. We are not surprised by this action, a s there were reports spread by the same military the night before that the Shi’ites were to avenge their dead by hired thugs on Friday in Gabari, a village in Zaria. Thesame military also spread rumour that, the Shi’ites had killed soldiers, all in attempt to justify today’s dastardly act.

Kuka Sheka should know that, once bitten twice shy. The 2014 massacre of 34 members of the Islamic Movement, including 3 of Sheikh Zakzaky’s children by the military; the attempt on Sheikh Zakzaky’s convoy by the same military are still on our minds.
No governments can flourish successfully with disoriented military, full of trigger-itchy personnel and security operatives trained by CIA and Mossad.

Until the present government fish out this cabal in the military and bring the culprits to book, we will made to believe the government is condoning, violence and terrorism on innocent citizens.

Soldiers Attack at Husainiyyah: Seven killed

Following the brutal attack by the Nigerian Soldiers on Husainiyyah Baqiyyatullah Zaria on Saturday the 12th of Dec 2015 the number of people killed has risen to seven (7) while 11 are seriously injured at various degree. The figure of the dead represents those in the possession of the Movement as the fate of those taken away by the Soldiers after they were shot is not known.

As at the time of this report, there is no acces to the Husainiyyah as all roads leading to it have been blocked by Nigerian soldiers; they also besieged the building while many brothers and sisters were locked inside.

In a move to cover up its attrocities, the Military, through its spokeman, said the convoy of Lt Gen Yusuf Burutai the Chief of Army Staff was attacked by the Muslims brothers and Sisters using arms. While in reality, the armless Muslims have gathered at Husainiyyah Baqiyatllah, Zaria for flag changing ceremony for the fall of the month of Rabiul Auwal- the birth month of the holy Prophet(SAWA). In almost 37 years of its activities, the islamic Movement in Nigeria has never attack anybody- be it soldiers, police, individual or group.

The Claim by the Nigerian Army is a blatant lie

The flimsy excuse given by the Nigerian Army, as reported by some Media outlets, that a Commandant or Chief of Army Staff (COAS) narrowly escaped assasination as a result of attack from Muslim brothers and Sisters of the Islamic Movement is a blatant lie.

The attack on the defenseless people by the Nigerian Soldiers is unprovoked. The Claim by the Army raises series of questions in the mind of right thinking people. The armless Muslims gathered for ceremony at Husainiyyah, as usual to change the flag on the dome of Husainiyyah, heralding the beginning of the month of R/Auwal- the birth month of the Prophet Muhammad Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him and his household.

Any excuse given by the military as reason for besieging Husaniyyah and firing for hours, leading the death of yet to be specified number of people, is considered a Lie of the Decade.

In the same vein, any report of CLASH between brothers and Nigerian soliders or ATTACK on the convoy of COAS , as given by some media, is also untrue as nothing like a clash or attack but a crackdown on a defenceless people by blood thirsty soldiers.

They openned fire for several hours. 3 people have been confirmed killed while several were injured. Nigerian Army, Shiites in war of words after deadly Zaria attack that killed many

The Nigerian Army and members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria Saturday have accused each other of instigating attacks that led to the dead of members of the movement on Saturday.

While the Army is accusing the Shiite followers of attempting to assassinate Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, the Islamic movement said soldiers simply decided to attack “defenseless people”.

A statement by the Army spokesperson, Sani Usman, said Shite members barricaded the road Mr. Buratai’s motorcade was passing to pay homage on the emir of Zazzau, and also attend a review parade by 73 Regular Recruit Intake at the Nigerian Army Depot in Zaria.

“The sect numbering hundreds carrying dangerous weapons, barricaded the roads with bonfires, heavy stones and tyres,” he said.

Mr. Usman also said the Shite members “refused all entreaties to disperse and then started firing and pelting the convoy with dangerous objects”.

He said the barricade was obviously a deliberate attempt to assassinate the Chief of Army Staff and members of his entourage.

“The troops responsible for the safety and security of the Chief of Army Staff on hearing explosion and firing were left with no choice than to defend him and the convoy at all cost as well as open up the barricaded road for law abiding citizens,” he said.

“This is in line with the Nigerian Army Rules of Engagement and Code of Conduct. This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated from any individual or groups and should not be allowed to repeat itself,” the statement said.

The army said the sect carried out the attempt on Mr. Buratai’s life on the instructions of Ibrahim El-zakzaky, the leader of the Shiite group.

The Shiites, however, said Mr. Usman was lying.

A statement signed by Isak K and posted on the website of the movement said the claim that the COAS “narrowly escaped assassination as a result of attack from Muslim brothers and Sisters of the Islamic Movement is a blatant lie”.

The statement said Mr. Usman’s claim “raises series of questions in the mind of right thinking people”.

It said members of the movement who were unarmed were gathered for a ceremony at their Husainiyyah base, to change the flag on the dome of the building to herald the beginning of the month of Rabiul /Auwal- the birth month of the Prophet of Islam, Prophet Muhammad.

“Any excuse given by the military as reason for besieging Hussainiyyah and firing for hours, leading to the death of yet to be specified number of people, is considered a lie of the decade,” the movement said.

A PREMIUM TIMES reporter in Kaduna said a member of the sect who asked not to be named for security reasons informed him that 20 members of the movement may have been killed, while many others were arrested.

He said soldiers opened fire on the sect members after the convoy of the Army Chief had passed.

“After the COAS passed, an army re-enforcement was deployed, shooting indiscriminately, killing over 20 of our members, taking away some of the dead bodies and arresting many of our members including women,” he said.

Meanwhile, the commissioner of police in charge of Kaduna state, Umar Ambursa, when contacted by telephone, said he was on his way to Zaria with the state governor Nasir El-Rufai to ascertain the extent of the incident.

“I am on my way with the governor to Zaria. Will brief you later,” he said.

The governor’s spokesperson, Samuel Aruwan, also said he was in the governor’s convoy and would only comment after getting the details of the incident.

I'm the only one seeing this!

this picture shows no attack, and I'm seeing a military drill and some other mix pictures of some event.

Looks like they are now fighting. I heard the army is engaging the sect. People are reporting gunfire and explosions in Zaria, around the house of the sect's leader.

Don't know whose side to believe but I think what NA did was unjust, wicked and barbaric..

Very likely the sect members challenged the soldiers armed or not

Shiite or Sunni......no branch of Islam is peaceful. Same culture of violence.
