NigeriaKitchen:
1. Slash salary and allowances of president and vice by 60%: president and vice president should earn like civil servants, so I will start with myself by slashing not just my monthly salary but all salaries and allowances/entitlements, including easta code abi easter codeine lol

2. Implement federalism whereby each state controls and manages her resources and remits 30% to the federal/central government which will be used to tackle national security/boundary security watch, immigration, foreign affairs, etc

3. Privatise every federal government owned asset or business such that government will only become a regulatory body and not management. This will bring efficiency among government workers, and curb corruption in government offices

4. Make sure most government handled activities are computerized such that they will be done mostly by electronic; especially cash handling to reduce corruption and bribery

5. Ban cattle grazzing and find effective ways to improve cattle rearing such that we will have more ranches for cattle herders.....and have more Nigerians go into farming by making farming lucrative and attractive using farm mechanization and improved security for Nigerian farmers

6. Implement State Policing:
every state must have their own Police.

7. Scrap state of origin: all Nigerians are equal and the same no matter their state of origin.

8. All political office or post must be made unattractive such that they will earn very meagre salary and allowances so people will stop clamoring to go into politics to make money or to fight poverty. If you want to be a millionaire, go and start a company, invent something or develop a new business idea and don't ever think about going into politics to make money because political offices and posts will earn even lesser than school principals!

9. No politician or his/her children/spouse/immediate relative will be allowed to travel out of Nigeria twice in a year the moment you are elected or appointed into office. They will submit their travel documents to a special Federal Police Team to enforce strict travel monitoring for all politicians!

10. Increase tax for the rich: if you are worth more than 1billion naira, then you will pay 35% higher tax. To reduce your tax, open more companies, farms, businesses and employ more people so that the more people you employ, the lesser the tax you will pay as a rich person.

11. Tax religious bodies: churches, mosques, shrines, juju houses, all must be registered and must pay tax to the government. The higher your revenue, the higher your tax.....to reduce your tax, build schools and make it free, open companies and employ Nigerians, then you will pay less tax as a Church or Mosque

12. Life jail for any political office holder found guilty of corruption: 35 years jail term for any corrupt practices no matter how small

13. Reduce number of senators and reps:
there will only be 36 senators and 102 (3 per state) reps, and their salary/allowance cannot exceed 1 million naira only! No senator, rep, commissioner, perm sec, etc will be allowed to travel out of Nigeria twice in a year. Same with their children, spouses, immediate relatives. So before you think of becoming a senator/rep/commissioner/etc you will think it well and know that you are only going to serve and not to make money!

I concur but have reservation as regards jailing looters for life. They ought to face the hangman else Government will still be wasting scarce resources keeping them alive. They must be hanged or beheaded and acid poured on their corpses and their property forfeited to the State. A hall of infamy must be set up whereby those who dragged this country underground will have their names etched.

Also all political office holders must send their children to public schools.
Paedophile and rapists be castrated.

What Nigeriankitchen said is damn brilliant and full of foresight but you can only achieve these things if you change the system of government to an autocratic one... because when you submit these to the National Assembly having been a bill not suitable for them they won't deliberate on it talk more of any of them sponsoring it.
Re: What Will You Do To Save Nigeria If You Are Elected As President Tomorrow???? by Ade3000yrs(m): 8:19pm On Sep 23, 2016
To me, 99% of responses to these threads are most likely a luxury of blunder emanating from an untamed freedom of speech. What I will do, is very simple without needs for ambiguous mechanism.

When a country has been running in darkness for 56yrs with total neglect for its educational system, you should most certainly expect to get zero result has it is only in the movies and dream world that you build a castle in the air. For Solution, I will go to the root to nip the problem in the bud, as we Africans and Nigerians are overly stereo typed.

It is so bad today that when I look at An Average Nigerian Professor and PhD holder today, I see illiteracy written all over him. It is pathetic that we Nigerians abuse the essence and significance of Education. I hate it when pple address and hide themselves behind the obscurity of all their academic titles and yet no result. Nigeria is where it is today because we all play a part in the colossal mess.

All I need do is total restructuring and overhauling of Nigerian schools and academic institutions and value system and everything will come up and running like a scintilliated and electrified electricity once plunged for ages in abject darkness. Nigerian Schools, Value and Culture System is the problem.

For over 56yrs, Nigeria has only been Managing an inherited problem and if nothing is done soonest the filth will continue to bore deep down the hollow abyss right from the centre without any hope of restitution in the nearest future. As far as am concerned, an Average Nigerian Professor is highly illiterate and so far worse are his legions of academic product. Right now, I can say boldly that there is no school in Nigeria, except for National Open University (NOUN) that I know of.

Its just a matter of time, the rest of the Nigerian institution will fade out into oblivion. It is just a matter of time. And What I will do once again? It could be a fusion of Abacha's autocratic approach of socialism and Democracy mix with alot of constitutional fortifications and backings because most of us Nigerians are stoned head due to imperative value culture. Many bad eggs could be made a scape goat and sacrificial lamb, like spare the rod and spoil the child such that when the blind, deaf and dumb sense my name, he will sit up, I won't do that, instead I will employ and enforce the German and Dutch approach. A far more civilized and rational approach will do the magic. It will be so structured in a way that politics at the centre will become as obsolete as the once revered NITEL Corporation. Such that politics will be a free lance service without a monetary reward. No kobo will be paid to any politician except a worthless medal trinket for the sake of honour and free service to your country.

If am the President of Nigeria, surely no politician will earn a kobo for the service to their mother land while the law will be so fortified and structured and automated to run the country with or without any body such that only the law will be in dispensable and not any man no matter the status or charisma or academic and career portfolio.

A house divided against itself cannot stand at all, and when everyone see Nigeria as his own property, then we will all be driven to fix it.

Lemme stop for now
Just like Nelson Mandela did in South Africa. I watched that on tv and was moved to tears at how peeps were regretting actions by fathers, mothers, themselves when they had option to do the right thing. Love would grow and return if we arrive at this reconciliation boat. but we need a figure that stands integrity within and international to allow this start.

1. I will change all my official cars to ''made in Nigeria''.

2. All my dress must be made in Nigeria. I'll simply live what I preach.

3. I'll change our system of education and pass a law to have children of all government officials study in Nigeria.

4. I'll provide grants for many science competitions to fish out Nigerians who can manufacture any of the things we import and also those that can generate electricity without petrol. I'll get us start building ourselves out of poverty.

5. I'll innitiate mass campaign to get Nigerians believe in themselves and to understand we can solve our problems ourselves without the help of the world bank and IMF.

6. All embassies must accept Naira which is our currency, and if probably review down their visa fees to Naira rates at pre-recession times.

7. I'll pass a law to make corruption punishable by death- preferably by hanging.

1. To save economy woes, first i will reduce the gap between the poor and the rich.,,,,,,, (b)reduce the allowance of politicians, imagine a president earning up to 14M in a year,,,i think is too much,,we need money for other things too. (c)payment of tax mandate. if you have one car, you pay a tax of 50k per month,if u have 8cars,then u will know much will be going out of you every month.(d)as am reducing the gap between the poor n the rich, inflation will be controling it self cos i will freeze many accounts,,in short with the annoyance inside of me now i can even make a decree that is a crime if u have more than 5M in your account.
......................................................................
(2)i will diversify,,,,forget about this oil thing and look else where, come to think of it the country is blessed.all these our illit.rate abokiS, i will convert all of them from insurgents to great farmers, give them attractive monthly allowance,in fact i will make the take home of agricultural workers so attractive that everyone would want to study agricultural science in the unversity.(b) if you are 60yrs, leave the service whether private or public , and give room for fresh graduates. many lie about their age and would not want to resign, not their faults anyway. so i will implement a law that from 55yrs u can apply 4 retirement and that law will go with a very attractive package, when poeple see that their is nothing to loose, rather much to gain if they resign on time. Some will even want to resign at 50, so that the younger ones can continue from where they stop. Nobody enjoys working when aging, the situation of the country is what is still keeping many there. I knew how tired my dad was when he was at level 16. He wished he could rest while money is entering his account,,,,but he kept reducing his age so that our last born can graduate from the university,,,,meanwhile many graduates were out there, waiting for people like him to go out so they can come in......but do u know my dad is retired going to three years now, government has not paid him his gratuity, don't let us even talk of pension yet,,,,,, if not for his children i don't know what the old man would have bin going thru....WHAT KIND OF COUNTRY IS THIS??
??
........................................................................
(3) an average man is corrupt, a child born today is corrupt. If it was possible for babies to hide some of their mother's breast milk, they will do so,,,because the thing too sweet.
to fight corruption we start with individual,,,,,before going to sectors and parastaters and government.....Does Buhari know what lecturers are doing in the universities??what about police men? What about custom, what about Cpc, Nafdac, the list is endless.
...
I think i will re-edit the national anthem or the pledge.
......instead of ''TO BE FAIHTFUL,LOYAL AND HONEST'
......I will put
IF I EVER STEAL FROM ANYONE OR STEAL NIGERIA MONEY LET ME DIE A MISEARABLE DEATH.,,,,
Some we say am going too far,,,i think it is a very serious issue as well
we must take drastic measures, if we really want things to change.

Agriculture: It's a pity that 1976-77 was one the best years of agriculture in Nigeria. Everywhere had an existing, booming state and contributed to growth and employment.

But White collarism came along and it died like an antelope shot from all sides by anxious hunters.

We have land aplenty.

Imagine a whole state in southwest relying on one tractor for rental??!! yeah it is true with facts and it's a shame.

Mechanized Farming must be revived. A return to cash crop production as well. Youths hate manual labour I've discovered. Just present this form to them and many old school parents would be surprised at the mass that would return to the farm and dump white collarism. One man being Lord over 10 hectares of yam and cassava, plantain, etc with weed control not a problem don turn millionaire compared to sitting at a desk, looking inside that plastic+ silicon TV called Laptop, earning peanuts which is also from the farm.

Electricity: Light is a psychological thing in this country trust me. The distribution company knows this and come to cut wires away and even sell them. Cos they know that cash would come out to restore connection. Well, the method don't affect many again, thanks to generators and I pass my neighbors. But for how long now?

This company smells of corruption that you'll puke instanta if you get inside info of their practices. enough of wire cuttings, excessive bills etc. I heard they shed some megawatts off cos the tools to convert them for consumption didn't dey. Like seriously? No wonder the dropping in MWs

So before you think of becoming a senator/rep/commissioner/etc you will think it well and know that you are only going to serve and not to make money!

its my idea...but won't mind sharing...who knows it could get to the president and he would implement it

1) the military would be based on regional capabilities...I.e the Niger deltans and other water loving tribes would majorly occupy the navy ...the Igbo's and Yoruba's would be in the air force...as this requires less threat to their live ...lily livered......the Hausa's are naturally known to not be afraid of death....hence the military(army)

2) there would be a change of constitution, no nonsense trials upon trials once proven guilty of any crime ,ranging from corruption, e.t.c

3) the criminals would be , allowed to choose where ever they would like to serve...I.e renouned thief's and kidnappers would be enlisted into the sss...for foreign missions to capture exiled polithiefcians and recover loots e.t.c

ii) mass production and reverse engineering ...d Igbo's are the Chinese of Africa...very good in imitations , but can do great things if empowered, from f16, to intercontinental missiles to small arms e.t.c also a source of income...

3) there would be a nationwide propaganda to sensitize the public on farming , education boost productivity / local production of arms and ammunition for military , utilization of military complex

4) installation of fear factor into public servants and populace ....this prevents negative ideas from growing..as defaulters would be summarily executed

5) after food sufficiency has been achieved, the mass production of arms, exportation begins to neighbouring countries,

6) align with a foreign power I.e us or Russia - I prefer Russia ...seek technological development

7) national refineries should be @ 100%.

cool testing of locally produced arms....this reclaims bakassi from Cameroon , after adequate trainng an sync with aligned world power...helps check if the arms are up to par and a demonstration and projection of power!!!!

more ideas , if I become president una go like me...I repeat the best president Nigeria needs is me. , a dictator....it may be criticised but its the best for us...quote me ...
