I hope those shouting for a special status to be given to Lagos are aware of other perks that comes with that and that is the fact that, should Lagos be given a special status, Nigerians, irrespective of state of origin, ethnicity and state of residence may also be given equal rights with the indegenes in Lagos. So, when we are clamoring for something, we should also look at all sides of the coin and not be myopic in our reasoning.

We make it sound as if people are benefiting from Lagos before putting anything into Lagos. Could the indegenes of Lagos had built a Lagos without the help of Nigerians from all over. Infact what is the contribution of Lagos indegenes to what Lagos is today? On the contrary, i think Lagos should be grateful for what Nigeria has done for it. Nigeria made Lagos and not the other way around.

Sadly for people like you, Lagos is shouldering the leadership failures in your states, towns and villages and your poor and jobless people can not put food on the table unless they enter the next bus heading to Lagos to add to the already congested situation in Lagos, to overstretch the already stretched infrastructure, health systems, roads, bridges, schools and and so on..

Or you are just too clueless to understand that Lagos can not keep up with the influx from all over Nigeria hence gridlocks, homelessness, lack of housing, not enough schools, not enough jobs and so on.

Lagos is spending billions every year catering to FG neglects like roads, bridges and so on when in fact the money should be going to housing for the poor, job creation and other alleviating programs that in return generates more more for Nigerians and Nigeria as a country.

More money for Lagos means more money for Nigeria.

More money for Nigeria means more FG projects and services in your towns amd villlages.

Beats me why you people reason so shallow and grossly backward to even hurt and deny yourself.

The Abuja clowns and mentally lazy fools including people like you think you are denying Lagos when in fact you are denying yourselves.

Fact is if u don't put ur back into it, u can be in Lagos for donkey years and still remain a pauper unless you're spoonfed. Let no one be under the illusion of any seeming magic outside of undue government and commercial patronage due to the status of former capital city.

The proper thing, if greed will allow some goats, is to start focusing on economic/regional integration so that there are recognised and viable commercial/industrial cities in each region to spread and fast track development as quickly as possible. This unitarian lifestyle of focusing development on only one place or state to the detriment of others us the reason Nigeria remains the way she is. Staggering, stuttering and never quite getting up!

All these attachee by force. Hv u heard any1 from the east claiming Enugu as his/her state when the person originates from a particular state? Is only in Lagos an Ibadan, Akure and so on will be claiming Lagos. Maybe tomorrow the Gwari will say they own all d development in Abuja. If you can't encourage your people in government to diversify development all round the Niger delta, then don't complain when everyone troop to Lagos. Though Lagos is too small, at times I wonder how it's able to accommodate everyone. Our leaders are too self centred and greedy; winner takes it all politics

What does Lagos actually contribute to the National economy?

The FG and corporate environment are lamenting over recession induced not from a slump in business activities in Lagos but because of a fall in oil pricing at the intl market?

If Lagos was so economically relevant, why hasn't Lagos found a way to rescue our economy?

The answer to this is simply that Lagos is a mere beneficiary and not in any way a driving force of the nigerian economy.

There are now more functional operating companies in Ogun State and along Ibadan Expressway than there are in Lagos. That thus rules Lagos out as a leading industrial hub.

The only skewed advantage Lagos has over any state is the domicialation of corporate and financial headquarters (a throw back to the time Lagos was the political capital of Nigeria) and also the monopoly Lagos ports enjoy ( due to an intentional anti developmental policy towards the SS/SE by the FG after the civil war).

Even the VAT claimed is not only from yoruba Lagos but from Nigerians from every nook and cranny residing and working in Lagos.

So why should Lagos get more than it has unduly gotten from over the years?

Nigeria is lamenting.
Not yorubaland.
We earn our keeps, the Niger -delta does as well.
What we earn is enough for us.
What we can earn in an independent Oodua states will make us great.
Yorubaland owes nobody.

What exactly did the federal government focus on lagos that is undue patronage?
Why is the undue patronage not making an impact in and on Kaduna,Abuja, port Harcourt, warri?

1 The amount already wasted on Abuja would have built Astana, Kazakhstan 3 times over. They are still wasting money.

2 A lot of Federal money was spent on Kaduna as well as being the residence of a lot of looters, government appointees and contractors

3 Most of the capital expenditure since oil was discovered was spent on and in rivers, bayelsa and delta . The money is spent on the oil industry. A lot of that money flows into the local economy.
Why is it not making an impact?

I'll tell you why?

When Yorubas talk how much lagos made others i start wondering why lagos aint making all these army of jobless yoruba youth living with their parents in lagos squatter without ventilation.

What is lagos waiting for to make millions of yoruba youths that flock pubs by 6AM to drink while every weekend they troop to betting centers to play football pools thinking that billions is on the horizon.

Go tot major markets, parks and shops in Lagos and weep for yoruba youths, i wonder how they stay in those houses at agege, ajegunle, mushin, orile, shomolu etc with its poor states.

Why isnt lagos making those yorubas living in makeshift structures at isale eko, makoko and ilaje?

Why do yorubas think everybody owns lagos a rattass for being successful there, why are all these fuss about lagos self.

If lagos is favorable to people why isnt she favoring her citizens first instead of foreigners?

Why are some of you loud-mouth yeeeebos like this?? The rubbish and nonsense you wrote up there will apply to any other ethnicity in Lagos, yet you make it seem as though it's an exclusive preserve of Yorubas. Why not stay in your utopian region and turn it into the paradise of your dreams instead of going to other people's region to earn a living yet you still talking crap about them? You go to other people's parts to hustle and the next thing you start making wild and flippant insinuations about them, exhibiting your inferiority complex by calling them names. What am I even saying, you lots do same to each other in your enclave. It's the same way you abuse Ngwas (the aboriginal owners of Aba) of being 'jobless' and 'lazy'. Na una way.

The success of Lagos is entirely due to the sweats and bloods of tribes in Nigeria powered by the crude oil wealth from East and Nigerdelta. For some 80 years of being the capital of Nigeria, the capacity of Lagos to generate IGR grew astronomically more than any other States in the federation mainly due to the decades old disproportionate FG investment at the expense of Eastern States and the oil-bearing communities.

It's only lazy ingrates and parasites who are too confused to ever stand for anything good in life and yet desire to reap where they refused to sow and still want to rip off others to be able to satisfy their insatiable greed.

You just can't help showing your foolishness. You say Lagos informal sector is lacking able-bodied Yorubamen. What informal sector? Must Yorubas rent a 2x2 shop while sitting and waiting for customers and patronage at Ladipo to convince you that they are stakeholders in the informal sector?? Why must you sound so stupid? The Yoruba plumbers, mechanics, and other artisans aren't people or gainfully employed in your books huh? Your stuppidity na first-grade. Real talk dude.

The audacity of Yoruba hypocrisy is when they condemn Niger Delta resource activists demanding for more of their oil wealth as being greedy but then turn around to demand special status for a city that was built with revenue of the same Niger Delta.

Mr 'Sufferstication', your diversionary question should be directed to the Indians, Lebanese, Americans and Italians who left their different countries to exploit and subdue Lagos.
