I was about to add this before you posted.

They intend to sit down claiming omonile drawing money that is in no way justifiable from the central purse and share among their ethnic gang claiming Lagos belongs only to yorubas.

This is why I can't stand these people at all.

Today they will shout fiscal autonomy and by night they will be begging for more money.

Who cares if you can stand a Yoruba man or not you hypocritical ibo. Just like you will kill yourself today over Lagos being no man's land and tomorrow be shouting Biafra.
Do you even know some countries have more than one federal capital? What's wrong In even designating Lagos as a federal capital again?
Your hatred for Yoruba won't let you ask yourself these questions.

It takes a determined and industrious people to leave their immediate environment and venture into a distant land and conquer it. A bunch of parasitic creatures would rather lazy around in their neighbourhood and depend on their parents for their survival.

You can see the result in the number of street urchins and area boys being bred by the Yorubas in the name of 'sophistication'.

Shameless parasites and hypocrites!

Like seriously?? Yorubas can move in droves to any part of YORUBALAND, including Lagos, without hinderance. It's in their natural and immediate environment -- always was and will always be! That's like asking why are there Imo state indigenes trading and living in Anambra state or Abia and vice-versa. Lagos is Yorubaland, duh! It's the same reason Lagos is part of the SW and not the SE. Comprende??
West Africans have the liberty to move anywhere within the region, so, what's your point when you question other tribes presence in Lagos? Did Yoruba make Lagos what it is? People that make it in Lagos are usually those who contribute to the economic activities. The problem is that most Yoruba's that come there create nuisance, those who don't are mere job seekers and few creators. Yorubas from states around Lagos are the problem Lagos has.

And did anybody open thread to question the existence of Yoruba's in other parts of Nigeria?

Typical NL mentality of claiming Lagos when it doesn't even have them on the waiting list of those to be claimed. They have neither established any business nor owned any property in Lagos.

Arresa you misguided igbophobia does not in anyway help getting that greed inspired bill to be dusted up from the trash can at the national assembly.

Instead of showing your delinquent upbringing and area boyism why not defend the useless bill and prove to us why the Federal govt must hand Tinubu's latest stooge in Alausa more money gotten originally from oil proceeds ?

Lagos is a great city and also the commercial hub of nigeria no doubt about it, but asking for a special status be accorded to Lagos is way too much.

just like lagos, California in the US is not only the most populous state but it is also a house to the entertainment capital of the world. despite the taxes realized from this state, California is contributing about 13% of america GDP which is far the highest. how many percent is Lagos contributing to Nigeria GDP. California as a state have invested in agriculture and energy

and another thing to put into consideration is that California is not only a home to 38 millions Americans it is also a home to tourists.

don't even talk about land and space because it is not a yard stick. Niger state in Nigeria has a large land mast that I think is almost second to none. what is their contribution to our GDP?

Lagos should manage their resources and make life better for the ordinary citizens.

if Lagos is given a special status, kano will also ask for a special status not to talk of onitsha in anmbra, aba in abia, portaharcourt in rivers state, Kaduna and even these oil rich state.

talking of Abuja! you need to speak to an original inhabitant, then you will know that they are living as slaves in a slave master's world.

To all yanmiris, listen up...

In 1851 Britain signed a treaty with the Yoruba King and Chiefs of Lagos. This was followed by a peace treaty with Yorubas hinterland immediately following the end of Kiriji 1890.

At the turn of 1900 the whole Western Nigeria was known as Lagos Colony and Protectorate and accepted as domains traditionally under the Oyo King.

By 1906 Lagos Colony and Protectorate was merged for administrative purpose with Protectorate of Southern Nigeria and ultimately in 1914 amalgamated with Nothern Nigeria and then in 1960 became Nigeria.

The treaty of 1851was never transferred to Nigeria. On technical grounds Lagos does not belong to Nigeria, just as it did not belong to Britain, other than the treaty which in exchange for trade in its waters offered security to the King and Chiefs of Lagos.

If anyone has a treaty that confers ownership of Lagos on Nigeria we would love to see it.

Your comparison with California does not hold water. California has no traditional rulers and its administration is not in the hands of its indigenous owners. Total deviation from case of Lagos.

rld.

You obviously made the quoted comment in ignorance because Lagos is IN FACT the California of Nigeria, and making BY FAR the highest contribution to the country's GDP, so much so that its economy is the 7th Largest in the whole of Africa. But we are in agreement that the state shouldn't even bother about any special status but rather continue working on becoming more autonomous and generating more revenue internally to sustain its developmental pace.

Nigeria owes Lagos nothing.

Yorubas are a bunch of ingrates.

From third mainland bridge to National theatre, to national stadium to festac and the many federal roads, interchanges, flyovers and other huge infrastructures in Lagos, what contribution did Yorubas make. Oil money from ND and SE.

Just half of federal touch on Bayelsa or Rivers or Delta or AkS and see if they wouldn't fare better.

Yorubas are archetypal ingrates.

of course Lagos has the highest GDP but my question is how many PERCENT is Lagos contributing? don't forget that most of what Lagos realise are used to develop the state itself. we are talking of national economy here.

If you feel you have a case against the FG, why not go to court and stop spamming NL. Better still, declare Republic of Lagos. Rubbish

Nigeria has done more than enough for Lagos, she is now repaying the Nigerian investment on her. Since Lagosians, nay Yorubas, love this skewed system that primarily favours them, Nigerians will keep flocking to Lagos till it gets to its breaking point and literally breaks.

And you cant even stop West Africans from moving freely within Lagos because they are allowed to, much more fellow Nigerians.

what do you mean by traditional rulers? are you forgetting that Nigeria traditional rulers are under the executives? I.e the governors and the LGA chairmen.

talking about indigenous owners, that is because America only know citizens and not indigenes. I'm still maintaining that Lagos can be compared to California. non indigenes make up a very large number in terms of Lagos population

What does Lagos actually contribute to the National economy?

The FG and corporate environment are lamenting over recession induced not from a slump in business activities in Lagos but because of a fall in oil pricing at the intl market?

If Lagos was so economically relevant, why hasn't Lagos found a way to rescue our economy?

The answer to this is simply that Lagos is a mere beneficiary and not in any way a driving force of the nigerian economy.

There are now more functional operating companies in Ogun State and along Ibadan Expressway than there are in Lagos. That thus rules Lagos out as a leading industrial hub.

The only skewed advantage Lagos has over any state is the domicialation of corporate and financial headquarters (a throw back to the time Lagos was the political capital of Nigeria) and also the monopoly Lagos ports enjoy ( due to an intentional anti developmental policy towards the SS/SE by the FG after the civil war).

Even the VAT claimed is not only from yoruba Lagos but from Nigerians from every nook and cranny residing and working in Lagos.

So why should Lagos get more than it has unduly gotten from over the years?
Good one there brother, we've been hammering it into their skulls. If yorubas were that skilled at building port cities why is porto novo (which also is a yoruboid city) in Benin republic not that that exceptional? The answer is simple, proceeds from Palm oil, groundnut, crude oil which are non-yoruba resources built lagos. Nigeria made lagos not the other way round. They should stop being ingrates and thank other Nigerians.

Because most Yoruba's are educated and know how to utilise there resources.... unlike our illiterate brothers from d SS and SE....and an average yoruba person loves his people...if we took ur oil money to develop lagos, it simply means we have more sense than you.... so stop blabbing
