A bill to scrap out the dv lottery and allocate the 50,000 dv visas to STEM (Sci, tech, engr and med) students after graduation who wish to remain and work, was presented in the US senate 2 weeks ago. Luckily enough, the bill didn't garner the required votes it needed to pass. Its proponents are currently licking their wounds and strategizing on putting the bill forward again.
Something tells me that the 16 year old dv lottery game may not live to see next year's dv 2015.
