igwebuike01: my problem is with the width of the roads, they are narrow just like Owerri/Orji road. i wonder why our leaders are not thinking of the future. Are they not considering future population growth which will lead to growth in vehicular movement? By then, they will have to start re-budgeting for road expansion, destroy people's properties and compensation for people whose properties must have been destroyed... My point is why cant our leaders be planning for future population and vehicular growth by just making our roads wide once and for all. the East is small in land mass and the future that i see with population growth will be like a Hong Kong or a Tokyo.. so our major link roads should be wider not to suffer the congestion Lagos is suffering now, we also need trains which hopefully will come. 4 Likes |

New Enugu Video. Enugu just needs to work on getting companies there to build a nice Head office along its many clean boulevards. They should not relent in enforcing the city's master plan. it should also work on beautifying its roundabout and open spaces so that people don't abuse it erecting all sorts of sign posts in all open spaces everywhere. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2Q1sclUvoM 9 Likes |

Enugu State Govt. invests N4.5bn to upgrade infrastructure Enugu State Government says it will spend N4.5 billion to execute infrastructural projects in the 450 autonomous communities in the state, Commissioner for Information, Godwin Udeuhele said on Wednesday. Briefing newsmen in Enugu on the outcome of the State Executive Council, Udeuhele said each of the communities would get N10 million worth projects. The commissioner said that the move was to facilitate even development across communities in the state. He said that the state government would immediately pay N5 million to all the autonomous communities for the execution of their choice projects. Udeuhele said that the new projects were in addition to the 57 infrastructure development projects going on simultaneously in all the 17 local government areas of the state. “The council approved a rolling plan of community development initiative of N10 million with an initial payment of N5 million that will start running this year to all the 450 autonomous communities. “This is to enhance rural development and encourage community participation in infrastructural development. This is a new initiative of the state government. “The first tranche will be paid this year and next year another will be paid. The primary purpose is to ensure that dividends of democracy touch all communities in the state. “Each community will get their money and decide what they want to do with it,” he said. Udeuhele said that the council also approved the release of N23. 6 million to Digital Security Technology for the building and installation of underground vandal proof battery cabinet. The commissioner explained that the appliances were for street lights that were currently under attack by vandals. He said that the state government had decided to install an 8metre high overhead vandal proof controller panel protection belt for the 34 street light stations in the state. “An additional N45 million was also approved for the replacement of the 17 traffic light stations that were completely vandalized. “The contractor will make a panel under the ground and get those batteries planted underneath, thereby, making it more difficult for intending vandals,” he said. Udeuhele said that the council also approved the payment of additional N200 million being part of the debt owed the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC). He said that the sum was in addition to the N100 million earlier paid to EEDC, adding that the EEDC was having issues with everybody and the state government were not an exception. “This is a part payment for the settlement of government indebtedness to the company pending when the joint committee of the company and the government on reconciliation will submit their reports. “Some government facilities were disconnected by EEDC for amount of money that was owed not only by this government but past governments. “Now the government has agreed and released N300 million and there is a joint committee aimed at getting the actual amount the government owes the company,” he said. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the EEDC has alleged that the successive governments in the state owed the company more than N2.5 billion. Some customers of the company had on Friday trooped to the streets and marched to the state assembly calling for the eviction of the EEDC over what they described as unsatisfactory services. The state assembly same day had an emergency sitting over an alleged ineffectiveness of the EEDC in the state. |

Digitron: The Church is quite large sha. With a basement as large as the Church auditorium. But they've been doing collections for its completion as far as I can remember, even collections for the Church agricultural university yet they haven't laid the foundation to more of envisioning its completion. |
Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by ChimaAdeoye: 12:12pm On Apr 21, 2017 |
christejames: Doing collections in Catholic church doesn't mean people are giving anything substantial. People give N5 naira, 10 naira or even 50 kobo. So it may not amount to more than two bags of cement. It is Pentecostal churches that know how to ginger people to giver tithe that usually amounts to real substantial amounts. 1 Like |

Air Peace to begin London, Atlanta flights Air Peace has announced its plan to launch itself on the international route, following the training of four of its pilots in the handling of Boeing 777 aircraft. The airline made the announcement in a statement issued by its Communications Manager, Mr Chris Iwarah on Thursday in Lagos. Iwarah said the training, which took place at the Boeing Training Centre in the United Kingdom, was the first by any Nigerian airline. He said the carrier’s Chief Pilots, Capt. Victor Egonu, Capt. Victor Iwo Brown, Senior First Officer Ahmad Abdullahi and First Officer Emmanuel Iwhiwhu participated in the training which ended on April 16. According to him, the airline launched its regional operations with its maiden flight to Accra-Ghana on February 16. Iwarah said Air Peace had been designated by the Federal Government to fly into Johannesburg, London, Atlanta, Mumbai, Dubai and Mumbai and Guangzhou-China. He said the airline would be acquiring more aircraft, including some B777s to beef up its rapidly growing fleet. Iwarah noted that Air Peace was going to deploy its B777 aircraft to service its long-haul routes, stressing that no Nigerian airline had ever used a B777 aircraft. He added that more pilots would soon go for their training in the operation of B777 aircraft. http://punchng.com/air-peace-to-begin-london-atlanta-flights |

ARROBA: That's good news. I think these routes would commence by the last quarter of this year because they will all originate from Enugu, and the terminal there may be completed by that time. But I believe all Nigerian airlines should come together to form a national carrier that would only ply long-haul routes. The existing domestic airlines would obviously have a code-share agreement with the national carrier, and also continue to ply domestic and regional routes. This, I believe would be more cost effective with regard to challenging the likes of BA, Virgin, Emirates, Delta etc than the current approach of little Nigerian airlines squaring up against the global behemoths. Despite the fact that both Arik and Medview have regular flights to the UK, both BA and Virgin control more than 90% of the traffic between both countries. A long-haul national carrier, with a start-up capital of between $1 billion - $1.5 billion, and one that is publicly traded on the stock exchange, would mount more of an effective challenge to the big global airlines. 2 Likes |
