That's not correct. A sukuk is the non-interest version of a bond (with a few other differences). Maybe you should quote your source text for clarity

Thanks for your response.

Please see the first link on differences btw Sukuk and regular bonds I googled(See section on repurchasing at maturity), the second link to the prospectus of the 2017 Sukuk, page 10/11- Limited Recourse.

@House, good evening.

I have been reading on the differences between a Sukuk bond and a regular bond.

One of the things that jumped at me was the possibility that if you hold till term, you may not necessarily have your full face value investment back due to the valuation of the asset at that future time e.g. 2027 in this case.

This is very different from the regular FGN bonds where my full face value is repaid on expiration of the Bond. I've read the propectus for the first FGN Sukuk which I could find online and it seems to lend credence to this thesis.

Can anyone pls help correborate this? Or I am mis interpreting the information?

Thank you.

Nairalanders have eventually destroyed your home. They failed to look at the bigger picture even though a few contributions warned against the mindless and shallow thoughts. They took side and warned your wife against shifting grounds. I hope they're now ready to accommodate her and the kids.

The same people will come around later to preach how 1+1 = 1, how marriage means the coming together of a man and a woman to become one. Lol

What is more shocking is how they advised a married woman to use a mere property to spite a hard working man (not a jobless man o). People were more concerned about the property, not the issues that provoked the statement "get out of the house"? So a responsible married man will just wake up and tell the wife "get out of the house"? From page 1 to about 4, no one care to ask what transpired between her and her husband, na so so property we carry for head.

It is well.

Irrespective of what has happened, a responsible married man and father should not be telling his wife to get out of the house.

In my opinion, Nigeria is not a stable country to invest for that long on compounding your capital

What id advise is 5 years horizon max.

BUT!

If Nigeria gets its acts together in between, it will be a very good idea

So its a risk

A big risk!

I have diaspora friends who have lost BIG MONEY in the three years of Buhari presidency because of the massive inflation plus depreciation/devaluation of the currency undecided

Imagine investing 100000 dollars in Nigerian securities in day 2014 to be compounding

today the value of the thing in dollar terms will not even be up to 50k,, 60k highest

I am still not clear as to why your friends lost money.

100k$ in 2014 would have been about 20m.

With compounding over the last 4 years, that should have increased to about 34m to 40m using the range of interest rates we have had over the last 4 years.

At a worst case, I would think they would have their 100k back. Yes, still less than what it could have become even at the 2 to 3% rates in your US, but not a loss.

Could you shed some light on how the value dropped to 50k? Unless they just kept it without investing or applying compounded interest?

Politics / Re: 'We Are Not Lazy,' Nigerian Youths Slam President Buhari On Social Media - CNN by battleaxe: 9:19am On Apr 21, 2018
Jones4190:
President Buhari is just too blunt....

Now let's look at these established findings;

1) Do you know that over 65 million youths are illiterates in Nigeria – UNESCO, 2017

2) Nigeria also leads in the world's uneducated children - Newsweek, 2017

Nigeria has 'largest number of children out-of-school' in the world - BBC, 2017

Fact check;
You can hate Buhari, but the truth is that he stated the obvious and again, what is already known around the world. You should understand by now that PMB is not like any typical politician and because of that, he says things the way they are. He is just honest to a fault. It may not be diplomatically okay considering the environment of such communication

Let's assume that your quotes and statistics are correct, does being illiterate also automatically confer on one the qualifier if being lazy? That one is illiterate does not necessarily mean he/she is lazy- several circumstances could have led to his/her illiteracy.

Depending on what article you reference, the Burj is quoted as haven costed between 650m to 1 billion......dollars!

I think this issue has been flogged enough.

I have had another look at realdeji's post on this from 1st Nov and indeed I tend to agree that the states terms are NOT for TBills. If you look closely, it makes mention of WHT which is never charged on TBills.

Also the 25% penalty is on EARNED interest. Penalties are typical for most investementa and it is always on earned interest not on total interest I.e only for the period under review prior to early liquidation.

We've all learnt a lot from each other over the years, let's keep it that way please.

Cheers!

I want to assume that u are talking about two or more strings( eg, 2*250 watts in series make a string. And you want to connect two of this in parallel and terminate this on a single breaker?) pls don't do that, use a breaker for each string. That's the function of a combiner box, get one or improvised.

Thanks @Oshomo....
So I thought it should be, with DC breakers but I'm seeing some abracadabra.

@house,
Is it typical that when a battery is being charged and reads say 27V, for this to fall abruptly to say 22 or 23V once the source of power is gone?

Also, is it typical to loop two separate solar arrays together and terminate just one cable instead of two for both arrays on the breaker?

I have my thoughts on these but looking for individual experiences on this.

Thanks house.

I cam across an interesting formula in Powerforum Africa ( SA) Almost everybody blindly follows it. they call it 5,4,3 ( 5 KVA inverter), 400 Ah battery and 3KW solar - This is on average perfect for a family of husband wife and two children ling offgrid using all modern appliences

What made it interesting is after detailed calculations and measuring power of all my house to last milliwatt I had come to same conclusion 5 years back - off ocurse given prices then the 3 KW tool 3 years to achieve ( LOL)

Is the 400Ah stated in this formula at any particular voltage? 24V or 48V??

Thanks.

Ok . One million in ten years at 15% =8,248,427.41 , did i got it ? .

If One million @ 18% for 10 years = 5.23M, its unlikely that One million @15% for same 10 years will be 8.25M..

The calculator is actually quite easy to use if indeed the figures as shown on the print screens by Chuks are keyed in; and changed to suit your desired tenor, rate and principal..... Try it!

Even though we hardly acknowledge it exists in Nigeria along with its attendant repercussions, I have not seen a better example of extreme bullying as on the pages on our forums.

How does her photo prove you right or wrong?

So if we get you right, victims of domestic violence should abide within the confines of their aggressors or even if not, wait maybe 6 months to 1 year after the violence to do anything they consider fun. Is this about right?

Hi Pranil,
Curious as to how you sized your fuses between your batteries and inverter.

I thought with 8 nos. of 200Ah, 12V batteries, making a 48V, 400Ah battery bank, that you would need a bigger fuse?

Also, there are several schools of thought on having a fuse on the negative. I notice you have a fuse though halved. May I ask why?

@Barezzi
Max PV Array Open Circuit Voltage for the 5kVA is I think 145V DC.
