Yes Reverend, moreso, we now have those Franchisable names like Mr. Biggs, Tantalizer, Sweet Sensations, etc. There is no other value in Mc Donalds other than the name.

Agree, Brand equity is not an overnight thing.
Celebrities / Re: Do Nigerian Actresses Know What a Gym Is? by Bibi(m): 10:03am On Jun 23, 2006
The problem is not the Actresses, or the women in General. Nigeria is a society where female chubbiness is addored. Many time I have heard the more plum or chubby, the better. So why stay skinny to piss off your guy wink

We are talking about Nigerians in Nigeria now, before those "foreign Nigerians" pounce on me. cheesy

Business / Re: Starting Mcdonalds In Nigeria by Bibi(m): 4:43pm On Jun 22, 2006
Some successful business started with much lower capital, and in Nigeria, thats a meaninful capital to start one ($400k = ~56 Million Naira). The likes of Tantalizer and Sweet Sensation started lower, now they are household names in Nigeria.

Good number, however have you all noticed recently that response time is becoming increasingly slower? Obviously with so many registered memebers and much more guests accessing Nairaland, hosting capacity might begin to manifest some issues.

@Seun, can you define your idea of porn?

Maybe to you, a picture at the beach or in Bikini at the pool, or a picture of you holding your girfriend is porn? Please explain what is so porn about the pics.

, reminds me a a lot about sometimes back when every trouser wearing lady was looked down upon as ashawo.
Politics / Re: Igbo President: What Will Nigeria Turn Into? by Bibi(m): 8:37pm On Jun 21, 2006
As long as the Igbos are still nurturing Biafra idea, they cannot rule Nigeria. A section that desires to rule shouldnt on the other hand be sponsoring blatant secession, so Igbo cannot be trusted with so much power. Quite frankly, the South-South have a better chance than Igbo.

Nairaland / General / Re: Technology Services by Bibi(m): 7:51pm On Jun 20, 2006
ok, just making a point, I know all there is to wifi and the likes. There is nothing like wired or wireless Engineer. You are either an Engineer with speciality in Wireless or wired technologies, wink

BTW: Never design a Wifi access point for 254 concurrent connections. That will mean 254 computers sharing 108Mbps , on top also the latency of Wifi which is technically slower than wired connections. Be sensitive to timed applications like mySAp. The latency will always keep it disconnected. Take care.
Nairaland / General / Re: Technology Services by Bibi(m): 4:54pm On Jun 20, 2006
Good for skill development, but wireless Engineer?
Sports / Re: Abuja 2014 Commonwealth Games Bid by Bibi(m): 9:56am On Jun 20, 2006
dont get locked up in the past or present, look to the future with enthusiasm. Some people will criticise anything even the worm for eating sand, rather than looking at positive side of things. Whats wrong with Nigeria hosting commonwealth Games? If people are not talking about coloniality, they are talking about waste of public funds, etc. Id rather want to look at these as a positive thing, given the very negative media Nigeria has at the moment.

Sports / Re: World Cup Performance Of African Soccer Teams by Bibi(m): 7:46am On Jun 18, 2006
Great result from Ghananians. It was a superb march from start to finish. I watched the review on BBC last night and everybody agreed that Ghana was on rampage. They played mass attack and mass defence with at least 7 people in front or back depending where the ball is. That was physically exhausting for anyone, most especially the Czechs who are injury laden.

I hope they attack the American with the same relish in the last round match.
Business / Re: Starting Mcdonalds In Nigeria by Bibi(m): 7:40am On Jun 18, 2006
Im sure Mc Donalds will be an instant hit, temporarily, just for the name, not that they will offer something different.

Obviously, bringing Mc Donals in as Franchise by individual is very costly and Im not sure even with the long term return given the very successful local chain, providing the typical menu Nigerians want as opposed to Burgers and Chips.

I think the best bet, if Mc Donals wants to come to nigeria is a partnership Franchise with one of the existing local chains.
Food / Re: Is Food Scarce In Nigeria? by Bibi(m): 7:41pm On Jun 16, 2006
@Akolawole

dont understand the reason for your devastation. You mean the cost of living is cheap for Nigerians living in Nigeria?

Regarding your two questions
##I don't believe transportation is that high in Nigeria even in London, transportation goes up every 2nd Januaryfor the past 7 years.## How can you compare Nigeria with london. What % of your income in london do you use for transportation? Compare that with Nigerians living in Nigeria. Transportation cost adjustment in Uk or other European countries is directly related to inflation and if you are working in a registered company, there is an annual inflationary adjustment to Income. This doesnt happen in Nigeria until there is riot, even so, there is not correlation between inflation and those increases. Secondly, transportation cost increases in Nigeria is due to artificial scarcities, low production capacities, greed, etc. These are the effect of failure in social system.

## I don't believe any government can provide 100% housing services even in europe, there abound homeless## I was not advocating for 100% housing, the fact is that inconsistent goverment policies do not measure up to their plans/promises. Goverments planned Housing for all by year 2000, water for all by year 2000 etc. The intent of such program was to create incentives to facilitate the program. But such programs failed. I was in nigeria, I contributed to the Federal mortgage bank scheme, what happened?. All the housing estates, not mortgage facilities, hence highjacked by moneybags. The issue here is not the housing, but programs that are not sustainable?

If you are devastated, you should be because if you are not in Nigeria, then you miss the agony on the ground.

Are you standing as independent Candidate or on which party platform are you running?

I prose to include resource control in your agenda. Let the South South keep their oil wealth, The North their income from Groundnuts and colanuts, and the west their, hmmm, what? and the east, what? angry

Food / Re: Is Food Scarce In Nigeria? by Bibi(m): 1:21pm On Jun 16, 2006
Thank @Ka: I agree  the title is misleading. Food is not scarce, but people cant afford what is available due to unavoidably high cost of living.

And we all know the key contributor to starvation is not only peoples income, but unavoidable spending due to inefficiencies in social services,
, Nepa doesnt work: spend a lot on petrol, on small thinks like tatapupu for grinding pepper which is more expensive if there is no nepa.
, transportation cost in Nigeria is waaay too high.
, housing, yawk, where is housing for all by year 2000? Daily Dilema with Landlord
, education ,health, etc.

Where there is a failure of social services, it eats deep into peoples disposable income, driving people to disastrous choices of what to eat and when.
Romance / Re: Good Job Or Good Wife: Which Is Harder To Find? by Bibi(m): 11:30am On Jun 15, 2006
Im still asking, what is a good wife? and what is a Good job?, Although without the definition, I can agree a good wife is much harder than a good spouse.

I dont believe we all sincerely have the same expectations in terms of definition, forget the Bible in this case. In reality what is a good wife to you?, and what is a Good Job to you?, and why do you think its harder?

Is it:

Good wife: always available to you, breeding, doesnt challenge you, always have your way, bla bla bla
Good Husband: loads of money, satisfaction down below!, great car, house, fortunes?
Good Job: lifetime employment, 6 figure income, mobility, sit tight, etc,

What you really want in life defines which will be harder.

@Ka; you have defined the qualities of a nice lady, not necessarily a good wife. You only know a good wife after shes changed her name to yours. How he/she accepts and manages your indequancies, how he/she relates to your larger family, how you both grumble about trivialities. Courtship is one thing, marriage is another.

I will pay 100 naira each, (generous offer), grin

Name your price.
Phones / Re: Does Nigeria Need Used Mobile Phones? by Bibi(m): 3:36pm On Jun 13, 2006
Question will be how much do you think your "used" phones will cost in the market in Nigerian (landed cost+margin) compared with the dirty cheap brands being imported from Asia?

There is always market for everything in Nigeria as long as its dirty cheap.
Politics / Re: PDP Split: Your Views! by Bibi(m): 7:07am On Jun 13, 2006
The split is inevitable and I believe its a grand design to make Nigerians look the other way.

Since OBJ hijacked the party leadership by installing his master destructor (Ali - You remember the "Ali mon go" of 1978?), there was no difference again from PDP and Aso Rock.

'Me beliefe the grand design was to make PDP fail anyway. I don't think OBJ sees the need for PDP survival if he doesnt continue in office. Net, PDP will fail woefully in next election. PDP never had a program/manifesto, what we have seen is OBJs program which addresses Nigeria economically, but not socially.

Again, what do you expect from a party wihch is a conglomeration of all unlikelies - The rascals (Adedibu an co), the Ex Military (we all know the bunch), The Culprits & Money Launders (Dariye & co), The Doubtfull professors (Gana & cO), The blalala, The Blalala, etc, you can complete the chain. How can so much unlike minds ever work together?

Currently, my most embarrasing moment:
