Hmm... Justwise, still on this? Mighty commendable. Just concluded my MBA and only just missed my Distinction target. Saw a post about someone... Kollingz or so, asking about living in Swansea. Well, you can let him know that its better for him to stay off campus as it is out-rightly cheaper, having lived here for the past 18 months. He can get more information on private accommodation on Zoopla, or simply send me an e-mail. vansa.126170@students.smu.ac.uk

Well done mate...Good job.

Justwise..... Justwise.....

Na wa ooo, u still dey this job? Congrats o. I salute your patience. More like u are needed.

I've not been having the ball of my life i expected. In fact, i can see my Distinction plans for my MBA fading gradually. No be small thing at all. I should advise anyone thinking of working and studying to think it well ooo. Assignments will finish you.. anyway shebi na if u see work self. Now i'm wishing they rank MBAs as per 2nd class upper bt info reaching me indicates nothing like that. Its either Distinction, Merit, Pass or Fail. I never give up sha for the Distinction bt no be small thing. Swansea, Wales is the most peculiar place in Britain, I have ever visited. kai. The place dry pass stockfish bt cost of living is reasonable sha.

The latest changes on visas made me hussle my family's application because i no get that kind money wey dem don dey ask for. Thankfully, my wife and biological kids were issued dependent visas 3 weeks ago however, my step-daughter was denied on account of doubts as to my responsibility for her, so I have appealed it with supporting docs such as tuition fee receipts, family pix.. etc.

U certainly have some comic requests in the house sha.. Mattheus and co.. I wan burst my belle with laugh. People, take note oo.. If you are coming with the intention of working part time, plan well oo because u may not get part time work for at least 6months. If u do full time an dem catch u, ILEYA. I have met people who have been searching for even full time work for a year, nothing nice. Yours sincerely was lucky to get a place in a warehouse for just 3months and now i'm out of work. People were even congratulating me that i was quick, so prepare ur mind.

However if u are married, try to carry your spouse along. Thats ur best option, at least as u are investing in their economy, your spouse will be saving for you people. Right now, the UK has lost its appeal and is bent on chasing Non-Eu personnel away. The schools are complaining, bt the government isnt listening so take note.

Gotta go now, will try and be regular going forward.

cheers.

As it is right now, the foetus is legally not yet a baby so what happens?

That poll is highly flawed. U cant have a YES or NO answer to psychological/sociological questions.
Romance / Re: Her 2 Weeks Fling Has Conceived A Baby. Should She Abort It Or Tell The Father? by carfreak: 1:17pm On Jan 29, 2012
I would like to believe that everyone contributing to this forum had the decency to understand that someone is actually seeking advice on how to deal with a wrong. Its bad enough its a dangerous trend that seems to be unending, but to stem its tide, we all need to be objective on what we say. Enough of this stew, onions, tomato. etc. and if all you want to do is have a good laugh or mock, go ahead in your mind, just dont commit to paper.

Having said that, it would appear that we are all agreed to the following

1. Flings can result to far reaching consequences etc STIs/AIDS/ what we have in this story - a baby

2. Nigerians are too religious to allow common sense take control of man made problems.

3. There is a divided opinion on A. Whether she tells the man, hear what he says then keep or abort the foetus OR
B. She doesnt tell him at all, then aborts and life goes on.
C. She aborts the child, then tell him about it later, to show she wasnt about to trap him.

Lets get one thing straight, why do we always conveniently remember God after we have on our own put our fingers into fire? Oh here's a problem, nope, dump it to God. Oh there's no power in Nigeria, naw, God will deal with it. Yeah, BOKO HARAM blew a Church on Xmas day, NOW THAT I BELIEVE is GOD's FIGHT!!
The different scenarios are very clear.

Legally, I read that a foetus is not recognised as a child until almost 8 or 13weeks (cant remember which so lawyers help out). If they both agree to abort the pregnancy before then, all's good. Which means my option is A. Tell the guy and let him decide. If you have other suggestions, we can list them as D, C etc.

For the religious ones amongst us, to infer from one of the earlier comments, it will take the grace of God for any young Nigerian man to marry a single mother. Your family, friends etc will bash u severely and you will almost be a laughing stock. If you are asking this lady to keep the baby regardless of what the man says, what do u tell the kid about his father as he grows? What of the man, is it fair on him? Numerous questions that cant be answered. I married a single mother four and a half years ago and its been one of my best decisions ever. However, I know how strong I had to be. My friends thought i was nuts, my colleagues were numbed, the lady's family members secretly mocked her believing it wouldn't last while she herself couldn't believe that a young man (28 at then), with a very good job and possibly other ladies around, really wanted to marry her and raise her child as his. That's what religion and persecution does to single parents, its reduces their psyche into believing they are second best and condemned to mediocrity.Today, we have two other children and they all call me "Daddy". I'm very proud especially as my friends have been converted. One especially who had this loving relationship with a single mum bt was always hesitant as a result of our traditional vibes. Now he tells me, Bro, U bi man oooo, Everyone is now having to change their mindset BUT I realise this does not happen everyday, to everyone. This is why we should all try to help this person, whoever she is.

I'm a little peeved at the couple though, especially the lady. I have been living in Britain now for just 5months and the ladies gladly refer to the "morning after pill" used as a form of contraceptive. So were they both in la la land where all did not matter?
Romance / Re: Her 2 Weeks Fling Has Conceived A Baby. Should She Abort It Or Tell The Father? by carfreak: 10:14pm On Jan 28, 2012
Abortion for me, is not a crime. But it becomes one when both parties are not involved in the decision making process. I believe in truth and honesty at all times hence my advice to the lady is to simply tell the guy the truth and let him decide. U will see i said him in this case. Yep, because he felt it was safe and wasnt expecting this, so the lady owes him.

If he says nope, I dont want it,  well there's ur answer. But in telling him, care must be taken by the lady to profusely apologise and let him understand that this was not a ploy to trap him which is why she will do anything he says because, if he suspects it was, GAME OVER FINALLY. If he believes it wasn't a ploy, there's hope, she may not need to abort and it may end up like the fairy tales. Its not impossible that she got pregnant on purpose bt do u think she would ask for advice if she did? She'd already know what she wants to do.

SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE THE BABY IF THE MAN SAYS NOOOOOOO,

JUSTWISE, Wao, this is really commendable, U r still on this consultation. Really remarkable.

Would love to assist u bt men, its crazy studying an MBA in Wales. I actually thought i'd have an easy ride with just 5 courses in the first semester but after submitting five (5000 word fully referenced) assignments, I feel like crap. Worth it though when u hear things like BOKO HARAM and their menace, and also ASUU on strike forever, God, the only thing i miss is our food. Kai, na God go help us sha.

Working on bringing my family come April, when i would have attained established presence. Keep the good work though, Will join u after the second semester ends in June, At least then u'll have several others for the sept admission session. Any feedback from our old crew, Tee Amo, elff 777, Suzzy, something, etc, in fact all the crew that made this forum so interesting from June 2011 to Sept 2011.

Guys,

Miss me, Well urs sincerely has been having a running battle trying to get paid before taking off. So i actually took gbaby87's agent and she's getting me a one way ticket to u know where via Emirates.I leave sat night. Its cheaper and i'm flying them for a change from Virgin.

Te-Amo, have a little faith, if u look at the calendar, there's only one working day left for applications to have been sent, which was the 26th because 29th was a bank holiday in the UK, 30th and 31st were public holidays in Nigeria. U may just get it.

This is what i advise u do, call ur school. enough of this mail thing. Most times, if i send a mail and i dont get a response with 48hrs, i call. It creates a personal rapport and connotes seriousness. Call ur school and speak with the international student officer asking for an extension. if they can, they should also send a mail to the consulate.

Again on Friday, call the call centre and see what they say. it aint over till the fat lady sings.

@ Car freak

Yeah they used the incomplete transcript (showing my results for four years) and a letter from my head of department to give me an unconditional offer and a CAS

if your course was for just 4 yrs, then you can go ahead and include all the transcripts you sent to your school as well as the letter from your HOD. however, if the course was more than 4 yrs, i think you should obtain the transcript for whatever outstanding period is left because i dont think the letter from you HOD will suffice to the ECO, especially if your institution is not a Highly Trusted Sponsor.

@gbaby 87, u there yet?

Hey guys, I recently graduated and i don't have my full transcript or a certificate yet, I got my CAS and it says under the Evidence used to assess academic ability, this was written: we have seen transcripts or certificates or verified results from awarding bodies confirming the following qualification: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering,

I have my incomplete one that says yet to graduate and a letter of attestation from the head of my department to the BHC saying i have recently graduated and I have fulfilled the requirements for my degree. I should be able to apply with that because i believe all they want to see is that i have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.

what do you guys think, also i heard it takes about four working days for processing how true is that?

I'm sorry but that'a a little weird. You say u don't have full transcripts yet your CAS indicates your school has seen transcripts, HOW? because it doesn't quite add up.

@ carfreak, sure no problem, I can give you the number of the agent. Trust me, she's better than wakanow cos I tried them and they were putting up availabilties they didn't even have, you now find out its non-existent when you try to pay. The lastminute hustling that babe did for me I cannot express. If you decide not to go with wakanow lemme know.

Please go ahead and send it, i've always known Wakanow.com but i'm not sure i trust them wholly. I've actually been a Virgin fan bt i think i'll prefer KLM at this time cos this is no vacation. This is simply being cost effective.

pandora__:

Oh well, he asked n I contributed. U can send him the agent's num n don't make it seem like I posted a useless info, cos a lot of people and myself can attest to wakanow. Thanks
Hey Pandora, i'm sure gbaby didnt mean any harm and ur info isn't useless. So no offence meant, and none should be taken, kapish!!!!!

Hey justwise, just thinking and perhaps u can help out here. A friend in the UK did a check online and found out from the KLM site that he could book London-Lagos-London for just about £450. Now with that, i could just use the one way to London at a much cheaper rate of paying the full fare rather than the Lagos-London-Lagos route which is about £650. So is it advisable to do this?

thanks

Hey Guys,

I must first of all apologise to Alaki and bokoram for not coming up at 8am as planned.

Anyways, i was about to go chase my entitlements at my former office when and sms informed me that my application was ready for collection. I was just parking at my office and the security guard was so shocked because i just zoomed off to Lekki leaving him bewildered.

Long story short, i got my passport after waiting for one hour and didnt open it until i was in my office and whoa!!!! my visa was staring at me.

So thanks people and good luck to all. Funny thing though, i applied on Aug 15 yet my visa was dated sept 7. then, the only docs that were taken were my statement of account, copy of my former i.d card and my payslips.

Batusai, Bokoram, Big Phil and Nology, whats ur status?
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered by carfreak: 10:57pm On Sep 11, 2011
@gbaby87, Merci Bouque.

@ Alaki, sorry, have been out visiting and also had to dash to the hospital where my younger sister was admitted. no worries, she's better now, just the usual pregnant women stuff. I've accepted u and will be online as from 8am tomorrow. Chat with u then.

@Bokoram, honestly, i think we should again call the customer care line at about 10am to actually confirm if our passports have reached the respective VFS offices cos i dont know where u live, bt as for me, i wont consider it funny if i have to drive all the way from surulere to lekki through the crazy traffic only to be told its not there yet. Having done that for about 7yrs now, i'm kinda enjoying this brief recess from driving through traffic. in fact eh, i even prefer Okada these days. so thats my plan. what do u think? I'll be online as from 8am tomorrow so lets talk then. Night.

@codedest, guy talk true jare, who be the jazzman wey u go meet? That's quite a record and congrats!!!!

@ alaki, i dont have a BB cos i cant stand the way people use so i'm on a personal crusade against it. I'll e-mail u however and relay my details shortly. I'm actually headed for Swansea for an MBA

@Gbaby87, your example is just apt. That's actually all the ECO needs to deny ur application, on a very minute detail which is the small technicality i was trying to explain to Bokoram and u have his/her response. Good thing you quickly addressed it. Before i submitted my application, i filled my forms like 4 times before i got an error free application form filled.

@Bokoram, i'm happy u said "If, " because i do not curse people nor wish them ill. I can hardly bear to watch a thief being brutalised even though he was caught in the act so why should i curse u. This forum was meant to educate each and everyone of us and the only we can do this is to tell things the way they are. I wish u the best in your application but also do something. Try to read through all the posts from page 95 and see the number of people whose applications were denied cos of something really absurd but have gone back to re-apply. i believe one of them was now given his visa and Teamo is still very much around. I even applaud him/her as he/she actually pasted the denial notice.

i wont leave for the VFS office until about noon so as to give them enough time because the last time i checked online, that silly message was still there, "ur application has been, bla bla bla. But should u go first thing in the morning, u can jolly well fill us in.

astolavista,
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered by carfreak: 9:42pm On Sep 10, 2011
@ Alaki, i used to work at the head office of my bank until Sept 1, 2011 where i resigned to take this course. Verification is only done at the Head office Audit Unit and if those guys said they didnt get any request, then they didnt. In fact, I used to confirm statements for the Australian High commission in my capacity then until the function was re-assigned. even with that, i used to still get requests from the commission until they were formally advised.

@Gbaby87, as much as i agree with you that we leave too many things to God and faith where we are supposed to do our bit, u dont get this. At which point did my friend leave anything to chance? Was he going to force his initial school to issue him a CAS? Of course he knew he had to do a pre-masters, thats the reason he immediately paid the full tuition fees and look at when he got the CAS and when he applied, he should score an A+ for that. Nope, i dont agree with u, the consulate messed this up, real bad!! This morning, some dude with a megaphone entered my street at 6:15am with a supposed preaching. Everybody was visibly upset yet no one wanted to talk because he "was doing God's work". Bro, i came to my balcony at issued him a warning that if he didnt leave the front of my house, i would not be responsible for my actions. The guy took off. Could he do that on Bourdillon, or VGC  before we even say abroad? Bt because its good ol Surulere, lawlessness is supreme and nothing can happen. We are just religious people but do not know God and i'm not one of such hypocrites.

So Bokoram, if your application was in a "bad state" or filled with technicalities that may affect a favourable decision for u, be assured that the ECO will find it because they also believe in God. Sorry about the way its coming but its the truth and thats where i stand.  Monday will tell.

Hey Guys,

Yeah Bokoram, we are and i applied at the Lekki office. You may want to read this story below but for me, i'm done worrying. Qui sera, sera.

Its a sober morning after for me but what i have to share may help someone so hear goes. I'll try to be brief bt its quite a story.

A friend was to apply for his visa as early as July 1 but couldnt because his school had not issued his CAS. Their reason,we dont know bt i guess they were trying to ensure enough students for the course before issuing a CAS to him. Please note that this friend had paid the full tuition of £8500. Eventually, he was notified sometime in August that the course would no longer be offered for sept 2011 and my friend promptly requested for his money to pay his second choice school, whom he immediately contacted and was informed that his place was still open upon paying a deposit of £2500, subsequently leading to a CAS being issued to him.

Without waiting for the funds to arrive, his father immediately paid the full tuition to staffordshire. Of course with our usual transfer delays, the funds got to the school on friday, august 12, which in fairness to them, a CAS was issued to my friend on Aug 15. So while i applied on Aug 15, he immediately printed his CAS and proceeded to Abuja on Aug 16 to apply from his base in Ilorin. He got to Abuja at abt 2pm and was quick enough to still submit his application before they closed on the 16th.   of course he received an sms same day, saying his application had been forwarded.

Now here's the catch. Staffordshire informed him that though the course starts on sept 27th, he would nonetheless have to resume LATEST sept 7th as he MUST attend the 3 week pre-master's course hence his latest resumption date on his CAS was sept 7th. We were both sure that he would get his visa before that day (Aug 16 - Sept 7) exactly 15 working days if u count the public holls.

Surprisingly, we did not get to hear from VFS and following nology's post, i asked him to call the consulate after i had called and when he did, he was told the same thing we were all told. Get ur passport on monday. However, he called me at about noon yday, that he had received the sms and was heading to pick up his passport, only to get the news that he had been denied. My pain, the ECO denied him on SEPT 7, stating that as there was no extension as of that date, the CAS was therefore invalid. can u beat that? trully as of that date, the CAS was invalid but for the love of God, was this guy's application just getting to the ECO on SEPT 7? what happened between Aug 16 and Sept 7?  This is absolutely bizarre and speaks of gross incompetence if u ask me.

Suspecting foul play as an ex-banker, i went to my office and asked my guys in my Audit unit if they had received any request from the British High Commission seeking confirmation of my statement of account and he they said NO. i even went  directly to the officer on that desk who is a personal friend and he said no such request had come on my behalf. So whats going on here because i'm supposed to be picking my passport on Monday and my Bank says !!!!!

There are so many pointers from this plot for everyone to pick whichever concerns him/her but i guess what i'm saying is, if you have less than 30 working days to resume, save your money and defer to the next semester otherwise, you will be refused on a stupid technicality not even your own fault.  Justwise and others, what do u think?

see ya guys and good luck.

@ nology, actually i do get it. I'm just tired of this unending waiting thats all. this is the first time i'm spending this long on a visa application. My first and second visit visas to the UK each valid for 6months and 2yrs respectively, didnt take more than 7 working days. My school resumes on the 26th and each passing day means i get to spend more booking a flight.

@ Justwise, aside the bank statements, what other documents do they tend to verify that could take this long? I've never liked suspense, perhaps here's where i should credit the U.S embassy even though i think they are mostly myopic in their visa decisions. You are either in or out, no delays.

just went there and the only thing i could take from the news is simply that they are trying to still meet the 15 working day mark which for me is crap since i will be on day 17 by tomorrow.

Boy this is crazy, just sitting and waiting.

Yeah and even at that, does that mean that the date covers applications made at vfs offices outside abuja?

PIOUSON, BIG PHILL, NOLOGY, BATUSAI, any news at all? I guess from the look of things, none of us has reached the 20day mark as people have suggested but i went ahead to mail the enquiry desk yesterday and no one has responded.

i guess we are the only ones left awaiting. My application is 16 working days old today.

@ VicJustice,

well i may be inclined to agree with u on the issue of tight schedules because i was initially billed to travel in June but couldnt because of work and i recall being asked at the point of entry. In fact in the first visit, my return ticket was booked for a week but i ended spending only 4days in London. The second trip was worse as i only had time to spend just one week.

You may be right, bt i think its still worth a shot at. Its only the 5 yr visa that had a caveat at a time indicating that anyone who had never been issued a 5yr visa, should not bother applying for it. I only did because then, both 2yr and 5yr visas, attracted the same fee.

naija sense!!

Hello Justwise and other Nice people in the house, help a sister out pls!
Ok, to cut the long story short. Is it possible to be granted 2years multiple entry UK visa even though I have been to the UK just once.(My only traveling experience without over staying) People are saying we might not get the two years until our third trip. So my question now is, should I apply for 6 months now, this september(renewal), and then get the 2 years next year after the second Visa must have expired. I'll be extremely grateful if someone  answers my question.
Thank you.
It is way too early to apply for the 2 years visa, your application would be refused and your passport stamped and crossed. That is not what you want in your passport

Hey VicJustice,

I dont think your response to this sister(olu16) is correct.

I visited the UK for the first time in sept 2007 on a 6month visa. the following year in Oct 2008, i applied for a 5yr visa but was issued a 2 yr visa which i again used in september last year b4 it expired.  So i dont think its about the number of times you travel on a particular type of visa.
