Aluta demonstration is simply a struggle for one's deserved right.  If not for that peaceful demonstration on Wednesday (21st), you wouldn't be enjoying water on campus today.  Though there were some parts of the demonstration that didn't go down well with me, like disrupting classes and forcing students to join in the struggle, I guess the end really did justify the means.

I thought this rule was imposed nationwide? Because even here in Ile-Ife, Osun state, where I am at the moment, virtually all Okada riders now have their helmets on, not minding the fact that majority of them have the engineer's helmet though. grin

By the way, to the new students out there, my simple advice is this: TAKE ALL YOUR TESTS SERIOUSLY!  Read for your tests like you're preparing for a Cambridge examination.  Believe me, a very good test result (by this, I mean, at least 75% of the total score) will help you a great deal in your examination.

For those of you in the sciences, this is particularly applicable to your CHM101 test.  You do well in your test, psychologically, you will be in the perfect spirit for your exams.  For your PHY101 and PHY105, be very careful of option E.  I guess many of you, by now, should know what that means - yeah, I'm talking of those tricky "none of the above" options.

Above all, ALWAYS remember the GOD FACTOR!

Happy New Year to you all, and I wish us all another hitch-free session.

@nisot23

As niyi right stated, the school was never on break. We were only given the normal Christmas public holiday.  But not to worry though, for the Part 1 students (and most other students), lectures won't start until Monday Jan. 5th, that is.  Stay cool.

Sigh.

Again bro, you miss the gist. The question is "Who is the better dribbler?", not "Whose dribbles produces better results?" These are two different issues entirely.

The sooner you understand that, the better it will be for all of us.

Merry Christmas.

Eastbay:

Dribbling is part of football.

So is defending, running, heading, finishing (scoring), passing, crossing, setpieces, etc.

If we can conveniently isolate these football actions and use 'em to compare players, I see no reason why dribbling should be an exception.

Eastbay:

We should be asking if Jay-jay was as good as Ronaldinho. Not if he dribbled as better than him.

You're absolutely free to create a thread on that.  But while you're at it, it will be greatly appreciated if you'd confine your posts to the query of this thread's title.  Thanks.

I fail to understand why some here are bringing in a whole new angle into this discourse. The topic queries, "who is the better dribbler?", and some folks are using the fact that he never got a WFY or a AFY award as a yardstick. No one is asking who scored more goals or who was more "purposeful". To me, Okocha was a better dribbler on the football pitch.

Funny enough, somehow, I was anticipating Aalborg to take the lead just before the half time whistle - and they did just that. Our defense today is a complete joke.

But not to worry folks, United is winning this game. I'm so damn sure of this! cool

It's November already, and I'm curious - do items there still sell for N500? Is this shop still operating at all?

By the way, I noticed the poster (Jino) has clearly avoided the question boggling the minds of many here (inadvertently, perhaps) - Pray tell, what exactly are the "every single item" being sold in this 'mystery shop'? An explicit response to this pertinent question will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

"He wanted to test himself in Italy when he left the Stamford Bridge, but it was obvious to most people he wanted to come back here with United to haunt us."

Sports / Re: Nigeria Gives Up Hosting Of Under- 17 World Cup by goodguy(m): 10:22am On Oct 29, 2008
The Action Congress on Tuesday, urged President Umaru Yar’Adua to reconsider his administration’s decision to back out of the planned hosting of the 2009 FIFA Under-17 World Cup, saying the decision was capable of portraying Nigeria as a country that cannot be trusted to deliver on its commitments.

The AC said “Since government is a continuum, the commitment made to the International Football Federation (FIFA) by the immediate past administration to host the tournament remains binding on the Yar’Adua administration.”

The Spokesman of the party, Alhaji Lai Muhammed said in a statement made available to our correspondent in Lagos that while FIFA could not force the country to host the tournament, it could at least deprive Nigeria of a chance to host any of its bigger competitions, including the main World Cup, in future.

AC said “the argument that hosting the competition was not a priority of the administration exposed a clear lack of understanding of what it entails to host international sports competitions.

“For example, hosting any major international competitions could be a catalyst for the development of infrastructure - such as roads, housing, hospitals, transportation and telecommunications - in the host country, especially if the government is development-inclined.

“Apart from the massive upgrading of sports facilities, Nigeria’s hosting of the 1999 World Youth Championship in several cities and the 2003 All Africa Games in Abuja helped to modernise many other facilities and trigger the construction of others.

“In Abuja alone, hundreds of housing units built purposely for the All Africa Games were later sold to Nigerians. In 1973 when Lagos hosted the All Africa Games, a similar games village was built, which later provided opportunities for hundreds of Nigerians to have a roof over their heads.

AC said the reaction of the President of CAF, Issa Hayatou, that the decision was an embarrassment not only to the federation but to the whole of Africa, was very serious and should form part of the reasons why the government should reconsider its stand.

The party said “What we had expected is for the Yar’Adua administration to reach out to the private sector to help offset the cost of hosting the tournament, instead of just withdrawing from hosting it.”

I still do not understand why and how supposedly well-meaning Nigerians do not see the folly of the withdrawal from hosting the world cup. Anyway, the FG has reversed its decision already, Nigeria will now go ahead to host the world cup, and I am very happy.
