In my opinion, it is much easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for students to make first class in these institutions:

1. Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA)
2. University of Ibadan (UI)
3. Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU)
4. University of Benin (UNIBEN)
5. Lagos State University (LASU)

What's your view?

Where is EKSU?? To get Second class lower sef isn't easy... So many students below 1.0 CGPA in my class. Even those that are above 1.0 and Below 2.0 are thanking God.. Eksu ain't easy oooo... No be beans

there are some dept that has never made a first class eg architecture. Chem engr has made only 1 first class ever, microbiology has not made 1 first class for 10 yrs now. Still asking "really"
I thought you said that my school been difficult was because I don't read... Don't the people in architecture, chemical engineering, and MCB read too?

He is actually right. What i am not sure of is if the said person is his brother.Geology department in Futa produced a first class in 2005. I would have mentioned his full name so that you could confirm from any source or LinkedIn. Get your facts right

it was a Geophyscis student.. n dat was d last time dy got it after a longtime..

its easy for anyone to claim dat he/she is a first class stdt..

well lemme do more findings

This list is a fluke.AAU EKPOMA not mentioned?to get first class is almost impossible.Infact,it wud be easier for a carmel to pass tru needle's eye than to see first class...to make 2:1 sef,u must be a night witch every time.but, maka y?

The person you are talking about graduated from geophysics in 2009. He was even the best graduating student that year. He won a scholarship from shell to study for his masters in one of the best schools in Europe. The person i am talking about finished 2005.

ps: I know both of them and I finished with a first class too from FUTA.

Why is EBSU not on this list? Christ, Ebonyi State University is one hard institution for you to make a good result in! This is a school where a student's result may be gearing for first class, he or she will be given F in his final year, with an extra year for added measure. Its a pity!

There is no way the list can be complete without UNILORIN on it, the lecturers even boast in class with statements like "the last time we produced a first class student in this faculty was in 1977". A lecturer once told me in class that "only God could score an A in his course"

I soo disagree with UNIBADAN on this list... That school places priority on its students' good performance and it produces first class students regularly

Unilorin is very notorious for that. My Faculty didn't produce a First Class candidate until 2009. Since 1977. Some idiot lecturers will tell you A is for God, B is for them and C for the geniuses in the class.

Same idiots that have been struggling to become Professors since I was in Primary School.

Mind U.I is just resting on past glory, The school is crap nw!
Futa geology dept. has produced only one first class graduate since its inception.. And if that is your elder brother, then he must be a mad genius. Futa geology no b beans. I rep FUTA #Archi

This trend is getting annoying. No read your book dey dere dey mention difficult schools up and down.
A hardworker makes it in whatever school. No institution is difficult for a hardworker. Average students yelling difficult this, hard that.
passing in a public Univeersity In Nigeria is not only about reading,a lot is involved:
1)Lecturers
2)Marking scheme
3)Condusiveness of d school environment
Its not only abt reading

why is it so?
Any rational reason why the unique school doesnt churn out first class graduate

It's really hard to explain. Some might say it's the school system but i think so many factors are to blame talking from an Engineering student point of view. Some of the courses they do teach in Uniport are totally irrelevant (eg. fortran).

Just for the record, there are no such schools anywhere on earth. If one is dull there is no need to blaim it on the structure.

i gained admission to study EEE in the unique school.
How true is it that lecturers undermine the effort of students?

All those so called schools that find it hard o produce 1st class students...schools lyk uniport, imsu, unizik...etc if u check the quality of students they admit, and looking at their so called glorified 2-1 students, den u would def see reasons why such students would make a 3rd class in schools lyk UI, OAU etc and why the first class students in schools lyk UI, OAU etc would be considered as geniuses in those schools listed earlier and even teach their lecturers

I think of you are talking about difficult schools, you shouldn't put University of Ibadan there. In UI if you are very brilliant you can have your first class but there are some schools where even with extreme brilliance and intelligence the school will just stop you at 4.4. Even if you deserve it they won't let you get a first class. Those ones are the really difficult schools.

You're right , UI gives you your score , its open play. If you work for it in U I , you'll get it without any lecturer holding you back

Dumb thread! Since when did difficulty in making first class become a thing of pride for institutions. It is rather an indictment on low standard of education in such institutions and that is how the civilized world sees it. The lecturers failed to impart knowledge and hence the woeful outcome. Universities are supposed to pride themselves in producing many firsts.
