@op, but your friend has options now? either she submit her salary or carefully leave the marriage. There can't be two captains in a ship. The only thing I will say here is she should give it a trial for 2 or 3months and see what her husband plans are. If he squanders the money, then she should not submit subsequent ones and that would be her basis of argument should the marriage fail.

Because the reason she gave is not sufficient enough for that man to have taken such a drastic decision.

The husband must have a good reason to ask his wife to submit her salary to him. I don't think its right for the wife to give 100% of her salary but its okay to give at least 50% depending on the couple financial situation.

So giving off all your salary to a man is a sign of submissiveness? Oh lawd!! I'm speechless. Nairaland never disappoints. The day women will start to know what they want will be the day they will be free. I am sure this lady in question isnt forced to do so. The very day she makes this mistake will be the begining of her sorrows in that marriage. This is how emotional, verbal and physical abuse starts.

Don't come here to comment on what you don't understand. Its all about trust and mutual understanding. He's the head of the family and if she knows who she married, it shouldn't be a problem unless the man is irresponsible.

it is not the duty of only the woman to provide for the home. Both couple should be able to provide for the home. We are in 2014 and the world is changing more women are working and earn good salary like men. So a woman should also help provide for the home. And a man should also learn how to take good care of his wife and assist her with house chores if possible.

Guys if you don't have enough money for wedding, don't bother yourself.
Just marry a working class lady. By the time you finish trad., just tell her you are cash strapped. If she doesn't conntribute meaningfuly to the wedding you'll know if am lying.
