We dwell so much in utopia, your rail network is neither viable nor feasible (the estimated $3 billion is approximately 1 trillion Naira!), how busy are our expressways let alone this phantom rail line, who will invest in this colossal waste?. Secondly, SE or SS are not recognized by the constitution, nobody will do business with an illegitimate entity
I don't know why you talked down on such projects without any alternative or arguable reason for that.

Bro,

Save your breath for that mad guy. The more you respond to his pointless rant, the more important you make an empty vessel feel

Some people just like to argue trash without any point at all.
Listen to him axking how busy is the expressway before a rail line eill be viable. He shoulf very well ask how busy is the road to lagos to makeva sea port in port Harcourt viable or to make Enugu airport viable.

The man just likes to talk rubbish. In every country of the world, rail transport links various moderate sized cities. In U.S. metro north links new Jersey, new York and Connecticut and still connects to the national line going to Los Angeles. The implication being that the railway line acts as alternative transportation for commuters moving within the region as well as connect feight train links outside the region.

Our express ways are very busy, so busy that I know we need an alternative. I am about to go to Onitsha from Enugu now and my main worry is how much of pain killer drugs I will take later this evening as the roads are so bad and will damage vehicles and human health. We need the rails if we can get it.

It is your brain that is nonviable, do you know that apart from lagos, Southeast has the highest population densty in Nigeria? And do you know what it will translate to if we have a solid rail/road network. Have you ever considered the traffic volumes of Asaba-Onitsha-Enugu-Abakaliki-Ogoja link roads? or Enugu-Aba-PH link roads?

That imposter has a hidden agenda. Don't be fooled by their Igbo sounding names. They are abooki or Afonjas stock in trade to answer "Ojukwu's son" or O"Obi of Onitsha" or some silly name to thinly disguise their hateful comments and anti-Igbo agenda.

They are so pained by the thought of any viable infrastructure in the SE or SS so that they economic strangulation will be effective. That is why i wholeheartedly support nnamdi Kanu for his clear insight in what they are doing to suffocate us and his determination to speak out against them.

Remember how they fought viciously against any attempt at internationalization of Enugu airport. They have since continued to deny other airlines who wanted to come to Enugu any access to make sure it's only one airline at Enugu. Meanwhile in Kano, they are giving airlines already in Lagos and Abuja landing rights, even if they go there once a week! The same people argued against Onitsha seaport, Asaba airport, against ONNE deep sea port project., Against the Port Harcourt -Maiduguri railway line that it is not viable, Against deep sea port at Ibaka or Calabar that it's not viable. Not to mention other historic things they did such as moving the steel industry originally slated for Onitsha to Ajaokuta and moving the refused to construct Imo airport even when the federal executive council then approved the construction of an airport in Yola and Owerri, then only two 19 state capitals without airports.

So, you should expect them to furiously resist anything that will develop Igboland such as airports privatization, extension of railway lines to our key cities to relieve our dependence on the horrible federal roads in movement of goods and services within the zone and the building of refineries, power plants or modernization of agriculture. They are out to frustrate us and use fake propaganda of "Non-viability" which is not backed by any credible data anywhere. Except of course concorcted data like the NBS that claimed Osun State GDP was bigger than the GDP of the 5 southeastern states combined. You just wonder the type of people we call fellow compatriots

I thought i was the only one who noticed that. They like using popular and enticing Igbo names like ogbuefi, ebuka, obi, Eze. Thank God we are identifying them here, best think is just to ignore them.
Cjrane2 passion007 is there any way one can forward these progressive ideas to our governors.

In the past Gov. Sullivan Chime read the thread and often implemented some viable ideas from it. Ugwuanyi will prefer to spend his time drinking pepper soup than reading comments from Enugu people on how to develop the state.

Gov ugwuanyi may not be that saavy to even know there is a place like this online where Enugu citizens profer solutions based on the rich background of people contributing to this thread.

We have to find a way to itemize these ideas and send to him via regular mail or DHL. Even at that; he may not read it

I was very certain that Sullivan, or someone very close to the seat of power in Enugu was always reading this thread. The way they start acting on what we say here, and the type of calls I got at a point in time til me someone was watching.

Let us continue to make positive noise about how we want Enugu state to be like in the future. Let us use our voice and hands to shape the future of our home base. Our children will be grateful we did.

And talking about good things happening, the Nenwe, Nomeh, Oduma, Mburubu to Nara road project commissioned by Ike Ekweremmadu two months ago has started fully. I passed the PH express today and saw a lot of activity in the Nenwe starting point. I will bring pictures of work progress periodically.

To God be all the whole glory. grin

i like the post but my view about creating numerous tiny industrial estates remains that each of the industrial estate will not be so effective and there will not be a lot of bandwagon effect but if the the whole east can pull resources and manpower to create a single industrial hub that would be what shenzheng is to china where all the heavy industrial processes will be carried out like steel production , silicon plant , machine tool manufacture etc , this heavy industrial city will now feed the light industries in Asaba, Onitsha, Aba, Nnewi, Orlu, Ihiala, Oguta, Okigwe & Afikpo industrial estates with semi finished goods , igbos will be able to compete with china, also igbos shoudl concession river niger and river Aba river nand partner with Niger delta for a deep sea port project otherwise vultures will sabotage their efforts

As for the deep seaport, I pray Gov Udom is able to convince his Colleagues in their SS/SE governors meeting on the need to support Ibom deep seaport. Even if it means raising funds from Diaspora and Chinese.

We can then build both rail lines and more Roads network connecting whole of SE & SS( especially Akwa Ibom)

I believe the investment maths will be attractive for foreign investors, Diaspora Nigerians and Nigerians living here.

Well Said Bros!!
I believe if Aba Miracle is maximised will pull the South East and former Eastern Region out of economic doldrums , Aba is also linked by rail to Enugu , umuahia and Port Harcourt. and lnked to Onitsha and owerri via highway

Also the Barth Nnaji Geometric issues was were igbos failed to live up to expectation and billing. Geometric by now would have helped actualize Aba industrial revolution and move the chinese products out of patronage .

Please what's up with the Geometric project? From the geometric website plans are still on and I heard that the FG has resolved the dispute Barth had with the Eastern Power.

The FG intervened and made both Barth and Emeka Offor to reach an agreement for financial settlement to resolve the dispute. But the problem now is that Barth can't afford the fee that Offor has billed him for the Aba business unit to be relinquished to Geometric. I hear that Offor is asking Nnaji to cough out about 2.8 billion naira or thereabout.

Deep Sea port in Akwa Ibom to be financed by the eastern states? That would be very good.

But note that there may be more of such old people like Obong Victor Attah in Akwa Ibom state who would rather not wish any thing of such importance connecting Akwa Ibom and Igbo.
