To keep Lagos clean needs the effort of everyone not only the Government. We all channel our claim instead. Someone that fails to clean up his apartment will never have time to upkeep his compound also.
MJBOLT:
lagos did not dump refuse there, human beings did..Lagos can only be clean when the people keep the surroundings clean

Oga, this is NOT about cleaning one's apartment or compound. The issue is that those who are responsible for evacuating the waste and garbage that has been cleaned out of the homes and compounds, have failed to do so. After clearing waste from your home and compound, where do you keep it, if the refuse disposal company does not pick it up??

MrBrownJay1:
this is exactly what i am talking about, i guess you want him to have a wedding in the middle of that obudu road, abi?! or in a cheap amusement park?!? arrant nonsense!!!..... here you are putting picture of beautiful places of Nigeria, and while i can confirm that these places are beautiful, i certainly do not think they have the facilities to accomodate a classy wedding party, and make sure it isnt run down by unwanted onlookers and /or bloody armed robbers. you see, again, you are seeing things in a very small frame of mind, SA to Banky W is great location, exotic settings, fantastic scenery, great facilities to accommodate a wedding party within that same scenery, SAFETY, peace of mind that the place wont be run down by overzealous journalists and wannabe Linda Ikeji (aka useless bloggers) looking for a free pic to put on their blog, etc etc etc....

now pls, go back and read the bolded part and tell me if any of the places you mentionned can provide even half of that.

Oga, yu talk too much and unfortunately, you are talking from a position of ignorance. Have you ever been to Obudu Ranch? Please go there first before yu start putting a negative spin on everything on display here. Yes, there are facilities to accommodate a classy wedding at Obudu and Ibeno! There is good security, "great location, exotic settings, fantastic scenery, great facilities" and well maintained places, too. So onlookers can easily be kept out. In fact, if you do not have business inside the Obudu Cattle Ranch, you just can't stroll in like that.

Please pay a visit to those places first before you start condemning them....stop your colonial mentality of thinking everything 'foreign' is good.

MrBrownJay1:
sadly, here above is the reason why so many fail in Nigeria..... they say create jobs in Nigeria and Banky W had is traditional wedding in 9ja....but then again, you cant mix apples with oranges.

a wedding is the most important step in any person's life, and therefore they want to make that day SPECIAL...so the location is the most important part, and if/when you LOOK AT THE LOCATION where Banky w had his wedding, you are certain about ONE THING: you could have never found a place like that in Nigeria, with the same backdrop, the same woah factor, the same setting. so YES, people should help by creating jobs in Africa but it doesnt mean they should lower their standards by doing so.

if Nigeria doesnt have what a man requires, then he certainly should NOT lower his standards to please deludued strangers.

What did you just say here? "you could have never found a place like that in Nigeria, with the same backdrop, the same woah factor, the same setting." What?!! Beautiful backdrops and scenery abound in different parts of Nigeria, but many people simply do not know about it.

1). This small one here is Obudu in Cross-River State.

2). This one below is Tinapa Resort in Calabar.

3). The Gurara Waterfalls is also attached, and it is located nearly 3 kilometres off Minna-Suleja road and about 30 minutes drive from Abuja, the nation’s capital.

4). Just below, is the 245km Ibeno Beach, a little haven for leisure seekers, which has roaring waves, spots for sunbathing, unpolluted foliage of the mangrove forest, cool breeze from the water and a lush surrounding.

So which kind scenery or location dey for South Africa, wey no dey for Nigeria?

Romance / Re: UNILAG Girl Recounts Her "Rape & Beg" Experience With A Man, Unilagolodo by Tequilah: 2:55am On Nov 30, 2017
LadyGoddiva:
I cannot even believe the comments I’m reading here. Like are you fuckiñg shitting me?? Even from fellow ladies too?
Things is, Nigerians are too close minded and backward thinking. A lot of things can constitute as rape. It’s not only when a random guy abducts you and forcefully has sex with you while you scream and fight back can be considered as rape. The basic thing that defines rape is CONSENT! Whether she was wearing only her panties in the man’s bed, even if she was twerking naked for him, as long as she said NO, then he had no right to try and perform any sexual activities on her.
And since when did agreeing to cuddle him automatically imply consent to have sex with him? He even went on to give her orals and strip her. Thing is, even if she may not have fought back, bottom line is, she didn’t want sex to happen. And he went on and did what he wanted anyway. That’s a more subtle kind of rape.
Nigerians really need reonrientation of their mindset when it comes to the issue of rape. I’m seeing a lot of bs comments like “why would she go to a guy’s house when it’s not her boyfriend” and “why would she wear only shorts in his bed and why would she sleep on the Same bed with him?” The thing is, irrespective of the circumstance surrounding the story, she didn’t give her consent and the man had sex with her against her wish. It wasn’t consensual sex thus, it can be classified as rape. Too bad she’s just speaking up now.
In fact, this matter just weak me! See as some neanderthals are busy arguing stewpidly that she went to the guy's house. Ehen....and so? Does the fact that she entered his house, give him the authority to sleep with her? What kind of animals are now being bred as men, for goodness sake? Has the word "NO," been removed from the English dictionary? Or they just simply forgot its' meaning?

Lmao..

Awolowo's coup when the man was in Prison? In fact, Awolowo should be thanking his star that he was in the prison. If not, he would have been beheaded by you manipulative selfish victim card playing eediots!

I can't even laugh enough at this stupid revisionism! Pray tell if it the coup was for Awolowo sake, why was he still in the prison after Ironsi took over? Why didn't Ironsi release him immediately he took over? Why did it have to be Gowon to release him at the end of the day? LOL! It's like you Ibos don't think with your brain whenever you make your ridiculous lies. Bunch of weasels!

Moreover, if the coup was for Awolowo's sake, the first person who should have been killed should be Zik, Awolowo's mortal enemy and the very person who connived with Balewa to put Awolowo in the prison in the first place. So why was he alive while other regional leaders got slaughtered by your devilish folk?

You know what? Cry me a river, no one is interested and I'm quite sure God aint interested in your woe!

maybe yu shld ask him for the minutes of the meeting Awo held with Fajuyi, where he gave instructions to the late Fajuyi to mentor Nzeogwu and do a coup on his behalf. am sure if he produces the records, ds would solve the argument. it sounds rilly funny that a Yoruba man instruct igbo boys, to plan a coup on his behalf.

Culture / Re: Candido Da Fonseca Galvao, The Yoruba Prince Of Brazil. by Tequilah: 11:11am On Jun 30, 2017
salford1:
Candido da Fonseca Galvao, the Yoruba Prince of Brazil.
Candido da Fonseca Galvao ( Sheets , 1845 – 1890 ) was a military officer in Brazil.

Candido da Fonseca Galvao was probably a son or grandson of Yoruba King Abiodun of Oyo Empire in the area now known as South West, Nigeria. He was recognized as a foreign sovereign by the Brazilian monarchy, and was known as Dom Oba II d’Africa, or simply Dom Oba.

Originally sold into slavery, he however, exemplified the type of free men of African descent who lived in and contributed to Brazil. A royal prince with bloodline from Yorubaland; on a quest for adventure.
He voluntarily enlisted to fight in the War of Paraguay and due to his great bravery and outstanding martial skills he was awarded an honorary officer of the Brazilian army.

After the war, he settled in Rio de Janeiro, becoming a legendary figure of folkloric proportions. He was revered and adored as a royal prince by the millions of African Brazilians of his time. He was an inspiration, a leader and a father figure for those very African Brazilians in their struggle to live with dignity, to establish fairness in a prejudiced Brazil.
Dom Oba was a personal friend of the Emperor D. Pedro II whom he regularly visited in his court each year, and where he was received with all full honours due to a sovereign dignitary.

He was also a committed abolitionist and began a campaign to combat racism.

He was a monarchist in his political outlook. Thus, with the fall of the Empire in 1889 he fell out of favour with the republicans because of his monarchist sentiments. He died soon after in July 1890.

What happened to his descendants in Brazil? Are they still alive? Someone should really do a film or something on his life history.

It is 6 days after I made my first complaint to the mods on this thread: https://www.nairaland.com/3871109/30-interesting-facts-some-nigerian/13, to unlock or unhide my posts. The chap that made insulting remarks to my comments, is still walking free and creating more disgusting pieces on that thread in a clear violation of rule 2, which states - Don't abuse, bully, deliberately insult/provoke, fight, or wish harm to Nairaland members.

How long are the mods going to turn a blind eye to this? Is he one of your team members? Is that why you have refused to bring him to book? Pls let everyone know the reason why you have been unable to call him to order. I have seen people who breached far fewer offences, over a shorter period being handed a lengthy ban. Yet, the mods in this section have decided to pretend that they cannot see what that individual is doing on that thread.

Hi, why is my name being mentioned again in this thread? Can you see these people? Anyway, when are the mods going to unhide or unlock my posts here? Which day? I have asked this question several times, because there was nothing rude or bad in what I wrote, yet nothing is being done about it. Why?

Instead, they prefer to ignore my requests. Is it fair? They keep deleting my requests to unlock my posts on this thread. Didnt I ask them some days ago, that what are they afraid of? And what are they hiding? I used to think the mods were fair and objective, but now we can all see they are trying to cover up their friend who I reported for his insults, some time ago. I know they will try to hide this post again. Its ok. No yawa. I will keep repeating this comment, over & over everywhere , until all my posts are unlocked.
